The running from the cop was nonsensical, except within the context of 'it'. And it had nearly killed me. I knew it hadn't just been tonight. It had been my whole life. At the age of thirty-five, Fran “Tiny” Fidler had a breakdown of sorts, running from a cop during a routine stop. “I’m not going back,” while running and stumbling towards the breaking waves of the Gulf of Mexico. My arrest provides a watershed moment. I will come to understand what “back” really back to childhood, back to the tough streets of Southie, back to the foster home in Natick, the debilitating stutter, the verbal and physical abuse of his alcoholic mother, and back to the memory of a little boy who is forced to repeatedly endure an unspeakable crime at the hands of a family member. "Tiny’s Wall" is the story of an undiscovered faith and a testament to perseverance and sheds light on how wonderful the path can be when lived in healing, acceptance and forgiveness any which way you look.
Sexual assault of children changes lives obviously forever. It took courage for Fran to write his story, hopefully it will help others who have suffered abuse to be able to reach out for help knowing that they are not alone.
