Is it bad luck to get held at gunpoint on a first date?

Sydney Brennan isn’t exactly the outdoors type, but the Tallahassee PI can’t say no when her investigator friend Mike Montgomery asks her on an unconventional first date. A lazy day canoeing down an idyllic Florida Panhandle river, with Mike providing a picnic lunch and most of the paddle power—what could go wrong? A lot, and this time it’s not even Sydney’s fault.

Soon Syd and Mike find themselves entangled in someone else’s imploding criminal enterprise, with no easy way out. Because when you’re River Bound, everyone gets swept downstream…

River Bound is the sixth installment in the Sydney Brennan Mysteries, featuring the Florida private investigator with a knack for getting into trouble who doesn’t know when to quit. The series is a perfect fit for Sue Grafton fans who've already blown through the alphabet. So if you’re looking for a mystery with believable characters and “just enough humor to offset the dark,” click to download and read River Bound today!

A recovering criminal attorney, Judy K. Walker has enough spare letters after her name (and student loan debt) to suggest that insatiable curiosity is something fictional private investigator Sydney Brennan inherited from her creator. Fortunately, Judy’s curiosity rarely involves murders. She also penned the Dead Hollow Trilogy, an Appalachian thriller series with a touch of the paranormal that taps into her West Virginia origins.

The Sydney Brennan Mysteries stand alone, but do build upon each other. The books, featuring Tallahassee Private Investigator Sydney Brennan and a recurring supporting cast, are (in reading order): Back to Lazarus, Secrets in Stockbridge, The Perils of Panacea, No Safe Winterport, Braving the Boneyard, River Bound, and Grave Truth.

Dead Hollow is a true trilogy of supernatural crime thrillers and must be read IN ORDER: Prodigal, Founder, and Heir.

Judy writes from her home in Hawaii, where she is surrounded by husband, feral pigs, and assorted geckos.

What an enjoyable book. If you want some sweet romance, you've got it. If you want down and dirty, rough and tumble action, you've got it. Very descriptive characters and locations. You often felt right there. That's when I know I've read a good book, when the author gives me enough to feel like I'm watching what's going on from the outside. No spoilers here. You deserve to read and enjoy the whole book on your own. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC in return for a fair and honest review. Thank you Ms. Walker.

You gotta love Sydney!

I love this series and have read every book and this one didn't let me down! While the story was a bit unusual, it was, nevertheless, full of energy, twists and turns and a thrilling adventure. Sydney is always wonderful and I can't wait for the next book in the series!

I have read all the Sydney Brennan Novels! Not one left me feeling that it was money wasted.

I have always been a chronological reader, and you need to be as these are all interlinked, caracters, evenys, places and lest we forget an incredible woman I would want in my corner always.

I dare you to read thes suspense series, I can gaurantee you will come back for more.

Good read. I like the snark.

Lots of references to other bad situations Mike and Sydney have been in within the last year. How much trauma can one person endure in such a short time without cracking?

Wonderful! Sydney is Back!

Great book as Sydney once again finds trouble to get into. And on a first date no less. I rather liked the new romance even if I like Glenn better :)

An intriguing story as always when it involves Sydney. A first sort of date with her friend Mike in the outdoors leads to mystery of course. Don’t miss out, should be read by all.

Private Investigator Sydney Brennan is invited on a “first date” with her good friend Mike Montgomery. It is not your typical “first date”, as Mike is going to take Sydney canoeing (even the picnic lunch he brought does not make up for the events of the day). Now Sydney has never been canoeing, but decides to give it a try – big mistake. Sydney & Mike find themselves unwillingly involved with a criminal and what can go wrong, does go wrong! I really enjoy the Sydney Brennan mysteries as Sydney is a take charge and get it done female – it may not always be the right way to get it done, but she does it. She is funny, sarcastic and witty and that makes the dialog (and her thoughts) so entertaining. The mysteries all stand on their own, but I think you would enjoy them more if you begin with the first one, “Back to Lazarus,” which happens to be free on Amazon as of the time of this review. River Bound is the sixth book in the series. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to give an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
