Two lovers torn apart. One wicked villain. A daily fight for survival in the ownership of a depraved captor.
★★★★★ "It was achingly dark, disgustingly dark (and I mean this in a BRILLIANT way). I literally read the entire book with wide-eyes and my hand over my mouth in shock. This book is what Dark Romance is made of!!" -Boys in Books are Better Review-

Now, I face a future with a new master more wicked and brutal than I ever could have imagined. I struggle with the will to survive, powerless against my abuser, and knowing I'll never have a future with the man I gave my heart to.
Ezra Alone and desperate, I'm tortured by fear over Anya's fate. My captor demands that I forget her, but my love for her is too strong to ignore. I have to find her. I have to save her. But I'm powerless as a slave to the four families… until my captor makes a decision that will change everything.
This is a dark romance series involving many triggering elements which may be upsetting for some readers. A complete list of tropes and triggers can be found on the author's website.
This is book 2 of 3 in a complete trilogy. It is not a standalone, and the books must be read in order.

Brynn Ford is a USA Today Bestselling Author of dark romance for daring readers. She writes emotionally heavy love stories that will twist your soul and shatter your heart before pulling you back together with a hopeful happily-ever-after.
Brynn's books are dark, sometimes disturbing, and often overwhelming. But they're always brightened by an insistent, spicy romance that will live rent-free in your head long after you've turned the final page.
When Brynn isn't obsessively writing, you may find her binge-watching favorite shows while eating far too much junk food or fanatically reading, always seeking to lose herself in the emotional roller coaster of a damn good story. She's a firm believer that her characters continue to live outside the pages in the minds of her readers. Stories don't end just because there aren't any more pages to turn.
GENRE: DARK ROMANCE. AUTHOR:BRYNN FORD. TYPE: BOOK #2 OF THE SERIES THE FOUR FAMILIES. POV: FIRST PERSON: MULTIPLE PERSPECTIVE.( NIKHOLAI, EZRA, ANYA.) MY RATING: 5 ++++"picturesque" STARS... This series....my first top read of 2021...I know it's still early for favoritism but this book series right here is just what a dark romance lover like me NEEDS... It's been so long since I found something with this level of darkness that appealed to my twisted soul. Ezra and Anya's story still leaves me in awe every time. I have absolutely no words to describe how much I loved this dark tale.
“My life means nothing without you in it, Anya. If your life ends, my life ends.”
The world-building is absolutely on the spot with beautifully crafted characters and storyline. This author deserves a freaking award for this series...I love HER!!! Vigo...a vile, depraved, obnoxious character from the book...( you guys will hate him too) had played a major part in turning this story upside down with twists round and round!!! The way book #1 finished, I would have never in a million years, then turn it took in the first chapter itself...one more thing, no matter what he does, I can NEVER hate Nicholai...there is just some secret hiding behind him...which just pulls us reader to know more of him.
Ezra and Anya, their love is made in the stars...even amidst the darkness, cruelty of this world, they still found each other. True love! How the author has managed to find the balance between dark and light here is beyond me...I applaud you... CLIFFHANGER AHEAD...
I can survive this. I can survive him. But do I want to?
I said it before and I can’t come up with anything better to describe my thoughts on Dance with Death so here goes:
Book one Counts of Eight was DARK and brutal, but book two Dance with Death was pure torture. There are a few authors that come to mind who put their characters through so much pain, heartbreak, and soul changing love and Brynn Ford is now on that list because OH MY GOD! Anya isn’t put through the wringer. No, no. She is put in the most horrible situations that are designed to break her and make her want to die. And sadly there are times where this is accomplished and it’s one of the hardest things to read. But I’m so attached to Anya and Ezra that I couldn’t not continue on. I needed to know what happened next. However, there were some scenes that were so intense and potentially triggering to me that I had to stop, put the book down, and just cry. I am so invested in this story and these characters that the lines between fiction and reality became blurred sometimes. I 100% have to credit this to the author and her writing abilities because damn! It swallowed me whole and to have fictional words pull such emotion from me is a whole other level of amazing.
All at once, I feel as though I love him and hate him. I love him for everything he gave me, and I hate him for giving me anything. Ezra gave me love. Ezra gave me hope. Ezra lifted me higher than I knew I could go. And because he did, I have farther to fall in disgrace.
Another thing I have to credit the author for is displaying Nikolai as the lesser of two evils in this book. In Counts of Eight, he was a monster. He raped and tortured Anya in book one, but compared to the evil she faces in this book? Nikolai is looking pretty good. I would have been begging to go back to Nikolai after one day with this new evil person. Is that to say that Nikolai is fully redeemed and is now the hero? NO! He is still fucked up but he pulled some stunts in this book that I think has slowly started his path to redemption if only at least a little. I’m still not sure if he can ever be 100% redeemed. My note on Nikolai in my review book is “Nikolai? WTF” so...*shrugs shoulders* the jury is still out on him.
She and I are meant to touch. Our souls demand it. Our hearts beat for it.
There are so many theories that my friends and I have for the rest of this series based on some things that happened in this book, and if we are right on all counts? Holy shit are we in for a ride to the finish line y’all.
TW-this book is DARK and therefore has dark themes that includes but not limited to violence, torture, abuse in all forms, rape, assault, suicidal thoughts and attempt
Well, this is gonna be short and to the point because there's not much I can say without spoilers. The bad guys are BAD. EVIL. Just completely fucked up. They break people down in the most horrifying and depraved ways, and do it with smiles. The couple and their 'relationship' (its hard to call it one, because they just aren't allowed one) is heartbreaking and you just want them to catch a break and breathe! My god!
Also, cheers to the author because there is some serious mind fucking going on here, with me side eyeing a baddie going, hmmm... maybe they aren't that bad...OMG YES THEY ARE WHAT AM I THINKING??!! Well Played.
“But I’m the devil and she’s not ready to reign in hell with me- she may not ever be...”
Dangerously addictive…this series is dark romance in all its splendor. The second book of The Four Families is everything you thought you don’t want to read but once you do you can’t stop thinking about how the genius mind of Brynn Ford works in order to create such story, characters and plot. She can easily stand with authors like C.J. Roberts, Aleatha Romig and the great Pepper Winters.
Surviving is in the blood, but the future that holds Anya is anything but survivable, Vigo and Nikolai have taken so much from her; Ezra is the only one keeping her will to live, they are consuming her and she’s getting lost in the meaning of life, the tragic love story between Ezra and Anya is anything but easy. And now Nikolai has shown his other face, one Anya can’t keep wondering what it means.
On a personal note…. I cried like I haven’t cried in a really long time with a book, this story broke me over and over again and I know it’s still not over and yet I’m craving more.
Do not take this warning in vain, the second book of The Four Families series is much more darker, crueler and twisted; there are nonconsensual relations, torture and mind games; but this story had only one direction and it was that way, and only Brynn Ford could make of such a tragic story a love tale.
Counts of Eight, the first book in the Four Family trilogy was dark, emotional, beautiful, and left me completely distraught. So when I saw I had the ARC for Dance With Death, I had to schedule when to read it because I KNEW this book was going to pack a punch 😰 Needless to say, I read it during the weekend to have enough time to recover.
Dance with Death picks up immediately where book 1 had so cruelly ended 😱 and I was not prepared!! I knew going into this book that it was going to delve into some darker themes. I thought book 1 was disturbing?? Oh sweet young innocent me 🙂 I’m not going to lie and say this book is for everyone. While reading, certain scenes caused me so much distress that I had to message some friends so they could provide some support (looking at you Mary & Jess). Even though certain scenes were completely horrific to read, Ford manages to give you enough hope to grasp onto 🖤 Can't wait for the next book!
If you are fan of Pam Godwin and Tillie Cole then you are going to love Brynn Ford! 😍
----- My thoughts immediately after reading:
Just letting you know you're going to need a drink!!!
After the ending of Counts of Eight I was super excited to get my hands on Dance with Death, and as dark and twisted as the first book was it doesn’t have anything on the sequel. It has some very dark shit but as a story it definitely kicked things up a notch and I loved that. I’m a huge dark romance lover and Brynn Ford has quickly become a favorite of mine in the genre.
Every chapter had my hard thumping because I was actually scared for the characters, especially Anya. I’m still trying to catch my breath with everything that happened in the book, especially the ending because holy shit. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book. I can already guess that it’s going to be insane.
Anya, Ezra and yes even Nikolai have captured my heart. At this point I can’t deny it. I really don’t want to give too much away so I can’t say a lot about what happens in the book but these characters don’t spend that much time together all three of them because of certain circumstances but when they did I just couldn’t read the pages fast.
Dance with Death by Brynn Ford was dark romance at its finest and most intense. It was heart breaking, sometimes a little hard to read and so very suspenseful. It was one of the most dark, if not the darkest story I’ve read so far in the genre. I can’t wait what Brynn Ford has in store for us next with the third book and anything else she’s going to write.
Dance with Death is one book that shouldn’t be read alone. If you haven’t picked up the first book you won’t understand the story and how we have ended up in the place that we are now. This book picks up right where Count to Eight left and it’s doesn’t skip a beat If you love dark romances that doesn’t set boundaries. This is the book for you, Ford knows how to push the buttons and do it tastefully. The second book follows a similar pattern to the first book. Twisting and turning as Anya and Ezra try to survive the world they are in. There is no second chances and they are paying the consequences of their decisions in this book. Their master has spoken and thrusted them deep into the web. Ford has definitely upped her game in the second instalment and the way she has twisted our perspective about the characters has me wondering how the family is going to be in the third book. I can’t wait to read the next book .
⁵"Ezra gave me love. Ezra gave me hope. Ezra lifted me higher than I knew I could go. And because he did, I have farther to fall in disgrace."
This is the 2nd book of the four family trilogy series. I was so excited to start reading, because Counts of Eight, the first book ended on a cliffhanger. I felt like Dance with Death was Darker, but oh so beautifully written. I'm so ready for Book #3
Brynn asked me to Beta read this series for her when she was releasing Counts of Eight. I absolutely jumped at the chance and fell in love with that first installment!!! Dance with Death is book #2 in The Four Families trilogy (Counts of Eight is book #1). It is a continuation trilogy, each book ending on a cliffhanger, so you MUST read them in order.
Are you a Dark Romance fan? Do you like authors to push those edges of darkness? Are you saying "oh hell yes" to those questions??? If you are, DO NOT PASS UP THIS SERIES!!! Brynn is going to be...or should be...one of your go-to dark authors!
This book...I don't even know where to start actually. It was achingly dark, disgustingly dark (and I mean this in a BRILLIANT way). I literally read the entire book with wide-eyes and my hand over my mouth in shock. This book is what Dark Romance is made of!! I DEVOURED this book, which wasn't easy as this was a beta read, BUT that should also tell you that Brynn is an exceptional author as there weren't many notes to be made.
I don't want to say much about the plot, as I don't want to give anything away. I will say that this series has trigger warnings. This series is trafficking, Anya and Ezra are "talent slaves." At a minimum you could say this series has dub/non-con and most definitely abuse (and that word is actually pretty mild...). So heed these warnings...BUT if these are up your alley, get to reading!!!
Nikolai and Vigo are ruthless. I will say, though, I always find it amazing when an author can take a character that is a villian, he is the bad guy, he deserves to be tortured before finally dying a slow and even more torturous death and makes you feel for him, makes you nearly change your mind on that torture he so deserves. And I am EXTREMELY anxious to see how everything will play out in book #3!!!
I received a copy of this book from Bookfunnel to review
Hold onto hope was dangerous, but letting go of it would be fatal. We'd made the worst mistake of all-we had fallen in love. But all the love in the world couldn't save us from our captivity. Just when we thought we would be okay, a future we never should have hoped to have was taken from us. Our master was preparing to hurt us in his rage against our love. The only thing worse than the physical pain of the injures he gave me was the ache of knowing what was to come. He was going to tear our love apart. I thought my life was bad before, but my mater was prepared to teach me that I was wrong. Dead wrong I was about to learn the true definition of torture, of torment, of despair. I could only dream about the man I loved, hope that he might someday fulfill his promise to find a way to save us both. But i had already learned the hard lesson that hoping only made reality harsher. The harsh reality was that my love was lost, my hope was gone, my life was over. And I was forced to learn the steps for this slow dance with death.
This book is so good. This is the second book in The Four Families Series and you have to read the first book, Dance With Death, or you are going to be lost. This book will really literally put you through the ringer. I felt it in my body when I had finished this book. I was emotionally drained. This book is dark and will have you on the edge of your seat more than actually in it. I don't know how to review it and not give something away. You just need to read it and enjoy the ride. But be warned it is dark.
I laugh to prevent myself from cursing the Author. I laugh so I do not crumble into this Abyss of eternal despair.
So you thought Counts of Eight was dark? Think again. It feels like child's play compared to Dance with Death. Good graces! I am not sure if I will ever be able to forget the absolute heartbreak this book made me feel.
A whole book of torture and pain. And I forking ATE IT.
I want you to imagine how good this trilogy must be if I was able to read 3 books in less than 24 hours.
This book picks up right after the events at the end of Counts of Eight.
And that's it. I will probably change this review soon or never. But besides how utterly devastated and heartbroken it made me feel, I don't think elaborating on it or trying to explain why I felt physical pain with this book is something I am capable of.
Just know that after Dance with Death, I feel like I strengthened my heart and I can now read absolutely anything. Maybe I should finally give The Life of Anna: The Complete Dark Story a try.
The Four Families series or trilogy was my first foray into Brynn Ford's world, and she's quite simply, blown my mind. I recently reviewed another dark romance thinking it was the darkest ever, but I was truly mistaken as Dance with Death has taken that top slot. You know what's even more crazy?! I read Counts of Eight (Book 1) and Dance of Death (Book 2) one after the other so I was distraught for a couple of days even though I'm a dark & twisty girl. I mean, I'm not much better now, but seriously, I legit bawled my eyes out afterwards for a cool minute. I'm not going into detail because there's so much going on that I don't want to ruin it for those who are brave enough, and trust me, those triggers are all too real with all the brutality & torture going on. I have a TON of questions, a hell of a lot rage, and then there's the b*t*h baby tears to round it all out. I had a hard time looking, and yet, I couldn't look away either so I barely remembered my name. This author is truly brilliant in weaving such a story that brought me to my knees, and there's still more. So again, take the warning seriously, and if brave enough, hit those one click buttons! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Holy cliffhanger! . I swear Brynn is trying the ‘death by cliffhanger’ thing cause damn! . So much emotion, the intensity is off the chain and the devotion and love between the characters is awe inspiring and swoon worthy. . Definitely some surprise twists I didn’t see coming. Not gonna lie I’m cheering for Nikolai to some extent, I don’t care. I know what he’s done is despicable, but, we all love the bad guy to some degree, but is he really the bad guy? . I’m loving the world of this book. It’s not one I’ve had the pleasure of exploring a lot and I’m loving it. I’m so intrigued by the inner workings of the four families. I’d love to go deeper into it and explore more. I’m not sure why or what that even says about me but Brynn has me wanting more. . I can’t for the life of me predict where the story could go from here I’ve been wrong a number of times through this and the first book so I’m looking forward to what’s to come!
I’m starting this review with one complaint. We have to wait till January to get the next book?! My heart can’t take it! That said, this book was amazing! It is really dark, and if you don’t like dark books with lots of triggers, it’s not for you. I however, love these kinds of books that take a reader to an uncomfortable place. Ezra and Anya continue to build an amazing love even though their apart. I’ll be honest though, if I was Anya, I would have taken her way out. It would be too much to live through. Nikolai actually showed some humanity which I liked, he’s still evil, but there was a slight spark of life to him. Vigo, that fool got what he deserved in the end. This is an amazing series and I would absolutely recommend it!
Dance with Death is the second book in The Four Families trilogy. If you have not read Counts of Eight first then you will not understand this story.
This book literally picks up where Counts of Eight ends so straight from the get go you're in emotional turmoil. Brynn Ford has a way with writing that you completely connect with the characters. If you thought Nikolai was a monster in book 1 then wait till you see what kind of monster Vigo is in this one.
Anya & Ezra have a love so deep that even from afar their love knows no bounds and only gets stronger. Like Counts of Eight this book ends on a cliffhanger and I have to admit even though Nikolai is the cause of all this he has wormed his way and now I find I'm cheering him on.
Absolutely breathtaking! This book had me on the edge of me seat for the entire ride. Who would have known I would actually LIKE Nikolai? Yea he might be a 'monster' but he is just misunderstood OKAY!!! Vic was the actual monster here. Dang. He was crazy! This book had the perfect and right amount of darkness that I love in a good romance book. I loved Ezra just as much in this book too. Him and Anya felt so deep for each other, nothing could keep them away. Even crazy psycho masters. Cannot wait for book 3!!!!
I don't know where to start with Anya and Ezra's story. It's hard to say anything that won't be a spoiler. Once again if you have triggers be forewarned. Their story is a love story with so many people doing their best to keep them apart. Even apart their love never wavers. This book was so fluid that you didn't know what was going to happen next or by whom. Many times I wanted to yell at this author of throw my kindle or both. I definitely enjoyed this book and can't wait for next book.
Anya and Ezra are in love but are both captive to an evil master. Anya is going through all kinds of torture. The only thing that pulls her through is the hope of being with Ezra. The brutality of this book takes you through a range of emotions. Have your tissue box close by when reading this story.
This series really just does not disappoint. Trust me when I say: read every content warning. Ford does NOT hold back. But the stakes are wildly high and suspense and despair are on every page. If you’re a ballet nerd like me and like your dark romance unrepentantly disturbing, you absolutely need to get involved in this trilogy. Or pas de trois, if you will.
She was apathetic about life when she was mine, but she hadn’t actively sought the escape of death. She still had that fight left in her, even if it had been slowly fading over the years.
“Have you found that I’m a kinder master than he is?” I swallow thickly, my eyes turning toward the unlit fireplace. “You’re no kinder.” “Don’t lie to me, Anya,” he hisses. “You attempted to take your own life tonight.” “He may have driven me to it faster, Nikolai, but you were driving me there all the same.”
The whole rating is purely dedicated to Vigo's depravity and the author's creativity with torture. I might not be a fan of this series but I definitely admire the author's mind. I mean, you can break bones, rip fingernails, and skin someone bit by bit.....but trapping them in their greatest fears will always be more potent. Always. ♥️😈
I still didn't connect to the main characters. And Renata is pissing me off. Moving on to the next book in the series....
AMAZING! This story keeps getting better and better! Just when you think you know what can happen...you don't. Anya, Ezra and Nik steal scene after scene and I don't know who I love more. Dark, twisted and fantastic chemistry. If you're into Dark Romance this is definitely for you. The way Brynn weaves in a love story in a tragic setting is brilliant. I don't want to say too much because of spoilers but THINGS GET CRAZY! With the way Book 1 ended it picks up right were we left off and this book is even a BETTER cliffhanger for you! Can't wait for the next.
Not for the faint of heart. It was very difficult to read about the stuff Anya went through. Vigo is a sadistic sociopath and he deserved an Amo Jones style death- not a slap on the wrist- which is what he basically got. Slow and torturous would have been way more ideal for someone like him. He’s probably the most sadistic villain I’ve ever encountered in fiction.
Dance with Death is the sequel to Counts of Eight and the story picks up where it left off from that heart-stopping cliffhanger. Once again, before diving into this series or this book, please do take note of the trigger warnings provided by the author which can be read at the bottom of the book’s blurb.
This book is darker and heavier than the first book, and I found myself mostly clenching my fists with a tense feeling while reading it. I was nervous and anxious for what was going to happen next especially to Anya, and my heart constantly broke for her in this book. Anya is a fighter and a survivor, but she also has a breaking point, and it hurt me to see her reach that point and see hope and her will to live slowly fade away from her. The things that happened to her in this book were just downright horrible, and the only one that’s motivating her to keep holding on to life was Ezra. I was in tears most of the time for Anya and also for Ezra. Ezra continued to amaze me in this book. I could strongly feel his frustration for feeling so powerless and for not being able to do anything to help Anya, but still, he never lost hope and remained strong for both himself and Anya. I loved his interactions with her in this book and he never failed to make me smile or swoon every time he comforts Anya or with his witty and flirty comebacks.
I thought Nikolai was a monster, but damn, Vigo just took the role of being a monster to another level. I hated him more than Nikolai and he deserved his fate at the end of this book. As for Nikolai, we get to see more of what goes on inside his mind, and even though it seems that he is the lesser evil between him and Vigo, the horrible things that he did to both Anya and Ezra will never be justified even if he does manage to show a grain of remorse.
Dance with Death is one of the darkest books I’ve read this year so far. It was not a comfortable read for me, but my drive and determination to see Anya and Ezra happy and safe with each other, living the good life that they deserve, are strong enough for me to continue reading their story. I enjoyed reading this book in a way that it constantly gave me this heavy feeling of suspense that just made me want to keep reading the story to know what’s going to happen next. There are also the bits of mystery and hints that were being thrown my way from time to time which made me keep guessing what they could mean, and honestly, those clues or hints sometimes drove me crazy (lol).
Overall, Dance with Death is a heart-wrenchingly good sequel and I think Brynn Ford did a good job with her raw and gritty storytelling. This book ended with a huge cliffhanger just like the first book, but this time, it seems that things are about to get even darker and crazier especially with all the unanswered questions that appeared near the end of the book and also because of what Anya did at the end. Anyway, I’m off to read the third and final book, so please do wish me luck and I hope that I get to survive that one as well.
Dance with Death could not be titled better. This book broke me. Usually in a series the second book can feel like a filler. This is NOT the case with Dance with Death. I cried for Anya, Ezra, and even Nikolai. The hell that Anya is put through because of Nikolai's jealousy and hatred toward Anya and Ezra brings this story to a whole new level.
Dance with Death is a dark, disturbing, twisted story that brought tears to my eyes multiple times. I honestly thought Anya couldn't go through much more than she did in the first book. But Brynn showed me I was wrong. Vigo is above and beyond distributed and dangerous. He puts Anya through unspeakable things and doesn't stop.
Ezra and Nikolai are still together as master and slave. Ezra is still trying to do everything he can to get Anya back, and Nikolai is stubborn and refuses to do anything that would help her. Life as everyone knows it will become worse before it may get better.
Gut Wrenchingly Twisted and Heartbreakingly Intense!
OMG! Dark, twisted and depraved does not completely cover how extreme this book is. Dance with Death is filled with intense pain, utter hatred, anger and complete hopelessness. My heart was shattered so badly throughout this story that I am not sure if the final book in this amazing trilogy will be able to piece my heart back together again.
This is definitely not a story for those with triggers as this one digs deep into dark topics.
Anya is put through so many painful, gut wrenching, torturous and depraved acts that deeply damage her soul. She’s a fighter but she’s being pulled so far down into the darkness that she is finding it hard to come back into the light. Everything Anya is put through is to break her and there are times (which are very heartbreaking to read) that Anya is completely done. She wants it all to end.
“With the blood comes the tears. Tears for everything I’ve been through. Tears for the life I’ll never have. Tears for the pain of what I’m about to do. Tears for the love I’ve lost forever.”
Ezra is fighting hard to bring Anya back into the light, to fight for them and to fight for herself. He wants her to survive. Their tragic love story is so very hard to read at times. They gutted me with their undying love, passion and devotion to one another. The pull they have to be together is powerful and otherworldly.
“It’s as if the Earth has taken a breath at the unexpected sight of him and I feel the land shudder beneath my feet.”
Nikolai is the ultimate monster with two faces. Is he good, is he evil – I think he is both. Nikolai is completely unable to love and feel any kind of emotion other than anger. It was his anger that put Anya in the horrible position she is currently in. Nikolai tortures himself internally throughout on whether he made the right decision to punish Anya the way he did. He is conflicted with his emotions and unable to decide what to do. He is completely messed up!
This story is a wild, emotional, intense rollercoaster ride into hell. My heart was racing and my emotions were all over the place. I was shocked, blown away and left completely and utterly breathless. Then there’s that INTENSE nail-biter of an ending that left me teetering edge of a deep dark pit.
Brilliantly written story.
Buckle up because this one is going to destroy you.
Dance with Death is book 2 in The Four Families trilogy and must be read after Counts of Eight.
I’m always excited to find a new dark series and trigger warnings are my one-click indicator. From book 1 we met Anya and Erza who are dancers that are stolen by Nikolai who is the head of one of the families. Anya was taken 3 years ago and is at this point accepting of her fate and relatively submissive to Nikolai. Her task in book 1 was to force Erza to conform to the rules of the house and prepare a dance for the quarterly meeting of the four families. She accomplished that, but fell for him at the same time. We were left when Nikolai caught them together and he was furious with her. Book 2 picks up with him going crazy and not only horribly injuring Anya he ends up selling her to one of the other families. Anya thought things with Nikolai were bad, but her time with Vigo is more terrifying then she could have ever imagined. Will she be able to survive the twisted horrors he inflicts upon his dolls?
This was definitely a dark read. In a way I think the events of book one were darker than this book. I wouldn’t say they were as cruel and terrifying, which is seriously amped up and on a whole new level in book 2. I think because deep down Nikolai cared for Anya he wanted her to be happy although his upbringing lead him to a twisted way of showing it. On the other hand, Vigo does not have any humanity in him and his goal is to break his dolls. I thought the cliffy in book 1 was bad, but this one is even more heart pounding and we have about 4 months to wait for the conclusion in the next book Pas de Trios which is currently scheduled for release on January 12, 2021. I am on the edge of my seat so see what happens next in this twisted world!
This is the continuation of Anya's and Ezras love story, but I have to warn you that this is not all fluffy hearts and rainbows!! Oh no this story is dark, it is actually one of the darkest romance books I have read in a long time and I absolutely loved it!! We were left with a bit of a cliff hanger from book one, I remember screaming at my kindle because I just needed to know what was going to happen and i was relieved to find book two took off from the exact same scene where book one left us! In this part of the story Anya finds herself at the mercy of Vigo and things don't go well for her, I was literally holding my breath for most of this part of the book....literally on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next...OMG this part was shocking, depraved and very emotional. I love the way that Brynn writes the scenes. She builds so much anticipation and suspense into them that I just couldn't stop reading!! I just loved the connection and chemistry between Ezra and Anya, both victims to the madness of the four families.
Seriously blown away with how good this book was...I'm eagerly awaiting the final instalment, I can sense there are alot of secrets still to come to light....and I can't wait!
If you are a fan of dark romance, full of suspense, secrets and lies with a seriously twisted plot then you need to read this book, I highly recommend!! ❤ 5 huge stars.
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Wow…my mine is blown away right now. My emotions are all over the place with Dance With Death. I won’t go into detail as I don’t want to give and spoilers. But man this books is an excellent example of dark romance. Dance With Death is extremely dark and Brynn Ford, author did a fantastic job with how this book is written. This book is the second book in the Four Families Book. Brynn Ford, author, is new to me and I have to say I will be checking out her other books both for this series and any others she has written. This book can be read as a stand alone but I would not recommend it. Brynn has a note that it could not be read as a stand-alone book but I was able to follow without reading the first. Yes, there are parts that probably would have made more sense if I read the first one but nothing that I would say distracts you and harms the story. Back to Dance With Death, I love how Brynn is able to bring out all of your emotions and really makes you think. It can be unbelievably hot depends on your taste. The author does have trigger warnings and please take them very seriously. If you have triggers then find another book this one is very clearly not for you. Anya and Ezra are so easy to fall in love with and to empathize with them. Make sure when you read this book that you have tissue paper as there are parts that will bring you to tears. Anyway, if you love dark romances this book would be perfect for you. Highly recommend it.
