Features: A mountain man and younger curvy girl romance. Instalove themes.
Fiona Growing up in Pink Springs, I knew I'd never leave. Not even when I lost my mom and dad, and they left me the home I grew up in. Not even when my ex succumbed to his demons and turned drunk, angry, and aggressive. Then I meet Benning, my own personal protector. When he saves me from my psycho ex, I figure it's a one-time deal. Benning has other ideas. I'm not so sure. There's the age gap. And then there's the worry he could turn out just like my ex. But as much as I try to keep my distance, Benning isn't done playing my savior.
Benning My buddy Harlow talked about Pink Springs non-stop when we were on tour. The silent creek surrounded by forest. The cute, little eateries and friendly folk. And the bar that he intended on running as soon as we retired. What he didn't tell us about was the curvy knockout he left in charge of his bar. When I meet Fiona, she's in trouble. And trouble seems intent on following her. She needs protecting. She needs somebody to look out for her now Harlow's gone. She needs me. Forever.
Six of us enlisted, but only five of us got to board the plane home. From the second our boots hit the dust bowl, we made a promise forged in blood. If any one of us lost our lives in that godforsaken desert, we'd all pitch in to look after our fallen comrade's family. When Harlow met his end, it's a promise that we stuck to. And in Pink Springs, Vermont, we all found something to keep our hands busy inbetween taking care of Harlow's kid siblings and parents. Laid-back jobs, storefronts and eateries full of small-town charm, and the curvy girls who stole our hearts.
A mountain man instalove romance series, featuring alpha males, older man and younger woman partners, and hunky mountain men who have to have their curvy girl. There's no cheating and no cliffhangers. HEA comes as standard!
First things first; I like the cover of this book! Benning is the first book in the ‘’Veterans of Vermont’’ series. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. Benning is in town to tell a late friends friend about his passing. What he doesn’t expect is to want Fiona. The chemistry between Benning and Fiona is clear to see and I liked them together. I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for more books from this series.
The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! YOU’VE BEEN WARNED! This is book one in the Veterans of Vermont series it appears each book will read as a standalone however, why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series. Fiona is sweet, has been hurt by a jerk of an ex, knows pain from losing her parents and runs the only bar in town. So, one evening her drunk, aggressive, mean ex is in there causing trouble for her and in walks her hero Benning who takes out the trash so to speak. Finding out from Benning was friends with Harlow and once they have been introduced the chemistry is intense and the magnetic pull is to strong to ignore but with a drunk of an ex in the way, along with a few twist and turns will they finally get their happiness?
I really loved the storyline and the flow of the story. Fiona was fighting off her ex when this mountain of a man comes into the bar. He gets Marcus off of Fiona and takes him outside. Benning is a complete gentleman, he also likes her cupcakes. Walks her home from work, helps change the locks on her doors and installs a camera. The attraction between these two sizzled. I loved how Benning took care of Fiona's problem with Marcus. The story implies that there is an HEA but ........ I wish more of the authors of short stories would put in a few epilogues. I like how those tie the stories and characters up. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Benning moves to Pink Springs to watch over his late friend's, Harlow, family and friends. He meets Fiona at the bar she manages for Harlow. Her ex-boyfriend is harassing her and Benning steps in. Both are attracted to each other, but Benning tries to stay away because of his age and friendship with Harlow. Will they work it out?
I liked Benning and Fiona. Both have scars from life. I liked they were not perfect but flawed. They have to take a chance on each other. They also have to be honest with each other. Benning has more to overcome. I liked how he protected Fiona.
This is a good start to the series. I look forward to more in this series.
Living in a small town just on the other side of New York, Fiona manages the bar. Benning walks in and is instantly drawn to her, but to him she is almost family, almost.....Benning served with Harlow, the bar owner, when he past the guys in service made a promise to watch over each ones family. So when Benning came to the bar, he had to deal with Fiona's ex.
Benning is a good story of love and honor, their is a bit of suspense as Fiona's ex does not get the hint that they are done. Sweet book to read.

Benning made a promise along with his mates in the military, and he is going to fulfill it. He goes to Pink Springs where the family of his deceased mate, Harlow lives. Fiona is having problems with her ex, and Benning helps her not just once, but several times. Short and entertaining. Three stars and a half. I thought Benning and Fiona were good characters who had believable connection and chemistry. They had a few things to deal with but their connection to one another held strong. I'm interested in seeing where this series goes.

An enjoyable age gap book one in the Veterans of Vermont series! It is an emotionally deep, well written, engaging, steamy, and relatable read with drama, ups and downs with a troublesome ex-boyfriend, instant chemistry, and strong characters. Definitely recommended!

A great start to this series Veterans of Vermont. This is the story of Benning and Fiona and their journey to their happily ever after. The story flows well, the characters are likeable and fit well together. I enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to read the next book.
Wow wow wow is all I can say!!!! I absolutely loved this book!!!!! I don’t know that I could have held back the way Benning did on certain situations because I usually don’t think before I act!!!! But they are absolutely perfect for each other and I love how spicy the “bedroom” scenes were!!!!
I thought Benning and Fiona's story was so sweet. Even though sad circumstances brought them together and they had to deal with Fiona's crappy ex, love blossomed between them.
Benning was a nice story. I liked the characters Fiona and Benning. They had great chemistry together. This book is part of a series. And Kate Weiss is new author to me.
Benning and his military friends all make a promise to a buddy to retire to his hometown and when he is killed, they all agree to also take care of Harlow’s family. Benning comes to Pink Spring’s native Fiona saving her from her psycho ex-boyfriend. This is a sweet story of love and friendship.
Benning and Fiona are a great couple. Just the right amount of back, and forth, on how they were going to work as a couple. Fast connections, and Benning had a fantastic body.😛😘. What's not to love?
