Midnight Magic The Midnight Magic Festival is upon Coventry, and Kinley Skeenbauer is excited to participate for the first time. Since her shop, Summoned Goods & Sundries, is the newest thing in Coventry, she's been invited to provide swag bags and decorations for the festivities. With Meri at her side, Kinsley is ready to pull out all the stops and make this year's Midnight Magic Festival the best her hometown has ever seen. There's just one problem… A new witch, Astra Argent, has moved to Coventry and opened a competing shop across the street from Kinsley's store. When Kinsley comes to work one morning only to find her windows smashed, decorations destroyed, swag bags missing, and Astra's wallet in the glass, she's furious. A confrontation the whole town witnesses goes down in front of Astra's shop, The Summoning Scroll. Thirteen hours later, Astra is found dead on Kinsley's front porch. Her body is sitting in a rocking chair with a cocktail in her hand. The macabre staged scene sends a shockwave through Coventry. Coventry is a magical town. Kinsley left when she was a teen, trying to escape her destiny as a witch, but after a nasty divorce, she’s back. Her familiar is Meri, a sassy talking black cat who reminds me of Salem from the Sabrina TV show. This series of novellas revolves around Kinsley and the citizens of Coventry, including not only fae, witches, ghosts, and vampires, but also “regular” people. I was disappointed that the last novella had a cliffhanger ending--still, mostly a fun read for anyone who enjoys paranormal cozy mysteries.

Numb
This whole series is mind numbing. I finished it but this writing is about the level of a 12 yr old. Back and forth and back and forth with the relationship. Thorn is a demanding idiot. He yells at her and then apologizes. Then he loves her but now he can’t deal with her being a witch…Kind of the point to the whole story, isn’t it?He demands that she terminates friendships and tells her how she is supposed to live her life. Hmmm…NO. As for her, She is TSTL through most of the books. She messes with evidence, breaks into houses, business etc in order to solve the murders and who gets involved with someone that soon after a divorce? A divorce that took everything from her. That takes a while to heal from. If she is such a powerful witch why did she just let her ex get away with everything? You just have to throw out any common sense that you have in order to even get through these books.

Bait and switch.
So, I started a lighthearted cozy with some romance on the side, an adorable familiar, and a sentient house. I enjoyed the firsr book, started having doubts during the second, and skipped around through the next four. This thing is turning into a soap opera--she's dating the handsome, brooding policeman whole also being irresistibly attracted to the duplicitous vampire to the point where she's having his child. I mean, what?
This strange triangle isn't helped by our heroine arriving in town fresh from the obligatory divorce this subgenre requires--a divorce she happily shrugs off upon entering the town. It really is only there to check the box "magical amateur detective" checklist.
This is not quite a DNF because I did, in fact, read the first two books. I am, however, dropping the series and somewhat regretting the time spent on book 2.
*I do, however, like the magical weight loss!

Talking Kitten Antics
I found the first six stories in the series enjoyable. The stories have magic, murder, and talking Kitten named Meri. He is snarky and loves bacon. There is drama and humor. Kinsley isa powerful witch who ran away to the human world because she didn't want to be the leader of the coven. She comes back and murders start happening. She solves them before her sometimes boyfriend who is the sheriff does. He is way over protective and sometimes a little mean . Meri and his witch make a great crime solving team.

So Much Upheaval
Wow, I am at a lost for words at the confusion of the stories in this book. So much turmoil, back and forth, craziness, and frustration. I was so mad in between stories that I wanted to stop reading the book. However, knowing that the chaos is what makes the stories great, kept me reading. I won't lie, I was disappointed as to who fathered Kinsley's baby as I strongly believe he should not have gotten that honor, but what do I know....I am in no way a writer... I am not sure if I would read other books in this series, sorry.

Poor editing
Poor editing, poor grammar. This really detracted from what could have been a pleasant, though not great, read. The most unbelievable thing was when the author used I's instead of my. I had to re-read the sentence a couple of times to figure out what she was trying to say. I find myself wondering if English is her first language. But even that wouldn't explain some logic errors, like attributing some dialog to the wrong speaker. I won't be reading more by this author.

A Witch and Her Cat
I would recommend this book to you and you and even you I hope you don’t mind missing sleep because you can’t put this book down. There are murders to solve. Questionable characters. Not only who are they but what are. Don’t think that when you finish one of the books you can stop. Nooo the excitement is already starting for next book. Be sure to have bacon you’re going to want some.

Book 1 5 stars
Great story to begin a great series. At one point there are several things going on but they do all come nicely together.
Although there is a murder it’s not gruesome or gory just right to make the story.
No sexual references or language so I can recommend this book to my preteen advanced reading friends and everyone else.
Now onto book two….

This picks up where book one stops. Kinsley trying to get her new shop up and running only to have another one open across her way. Somethings up with that?? She is split between her human boyfriend and a vampire that she feels a connection to, who will end the victor? And a creepy woman with lots and lots of garden gnomes kinsley is almost certain something is Amuss there as well.
No sexual references or language so I can recommend this to my advanced reading preteen friends. Some magic used

Great series!
Varied and very interesting services! I intend to go on the next. I like the snarky familiar , Meri, and the witch who gives of herself to everyone. Thorn is a bit overbearing but I bet we find out there's more to it. Some series get old fast because so much stays the same. However, the variety in these stories takes the tedium out. There are a lot of errors, otherwise, these stories are really great!

The stories are told almost like sitting with a friend and hearing what they've been up to. Very simple writing and not a lot of motivation, these are not puzzles where you'll have all the information to figure out the killer. Most of the depth, such as it is, is in her own examination of her feelings and relationships. Still, the stories are good enough for the time it takes to read them; if my friend was telling them to me over dinner I'd be enthralled.

Wish I could add a half star. Started out enjoying the first book, but as the books went on, I found they were getting a bit drawn out. Annoying that there is no conclusion at the end of each book and you would have to read in order to figure out what’s going on. Overall cute books but probably could have a more condensed storyline.

Six books which were really six parts to one story albeit with a different murder to solve. I found it fairly hard going, because it needed proof reading, and the back and forth in the love triangle drove me up the wall. Having said that, I did find the main character (the kitten, Meri!) to be quite gorgeous, and I was intrigued by the stories so that I read them all.

I like the characters and how they are developing. The interplay of people and personalities. I would like to read more about Meri's history, how long he's been with the family and how and when he got his powers.
Of course it leaves on a cliff hanger so I'm off to book 7.

Amazing Alternate Reality!
The occult world is layered onto reality very cleverly, and the characters have believable personalities, even in what I would normally call unbelievable circumstances. The stories drew me in, kept me reading, and left me wanting so much more!!

Mysteries would be good if they were fleshed out more. Characters are caricatures with no depth. Personal relationships are always breaking up and/or fighting with boyfriends with situations too forced to be realistic.

An interesting plot of many twists and turns
The story kept you entertained and the characters were certainly interesting and I enjoyed the different descriptions of them. Definitely kept me reading it.

Enjoyably entertaining
An easy to read, ongoing storyline. Interesting concepts. I'm moving on to the next one! One of my many faults is having to complete the entire series before I can choose a different novel to begin. So ... next! lol

Enjoyed reading these
Stayed up until 2am reading one of these. Its a good thing I'm retired.
The stormy relationship between to two main characters gets way to carried away too often, but I still enjoyed the stories.

And I really enjoyed this collection of stories. The characters are interesting. Each story leads into the next. The town has both normal and paranormal citizens.
