BROKEN COWBOY (The Montana Men Book #1) by Jamie Schulz is the first book in a new cowboy western contemporary romance series featuring a strong, but struggling owner of a run-down farm and the broken drifting cowboy who wants to help and protect her. This is a steamy, emotional romance that kept me curled up reading from the beginning to the end.
Addie Malory completely changed her life and bought a farm. It turned into more work than she expected and when the help she has make unwanted advances she fires them. Now on her way to town, she finds a cowboy walking down the road and when she finds out he has work experience on farms and the rodeo offers him a job on her farm.
Cade Brody is drifting after being betrayed by his brother. When his truck breaks down, he is grateful for the ride and the offer of a job. Cade is instantly attracted to his new boss, but he also has a lot of emotional baggage. His protective instincts kick in when the farm is vandalized.
Addie and Cade wrestle with their building chemistry as Addie is being squeezed financially and Cade, while wanting to protect her, also must deal with his past if he wants to move forward.
Addie and Cade are dealing with so much baggage and yet they are able to let their relationship grow. While I would have liked a little more honest communication at times, they do move from friends to lovers at a believable pace even with the instant attraction. I liked that Addie was a curvy girl who found a man who appreciated her curves and made her feel beautiful. Cade is a hero who needed Addie and her love to begin to deal with his past and forgiveness. The sex scenes are explicit and smokin’ hot, but not gratuitous. All the secondary characters are well written, and I am looking forward to seeing them in the coming books in this series. The suspense sub-plot kept me guessing and I was surprised at the resolution.
I can highly recommend this cowboy western contemporary romance for an emotional and engaging HEA read.

BROKEN COWBOY is the first instalment in Jamie Schulz’ contemporary, adult THE MONTANA MEN erotic, romance series. This is cowboy/rancher Cade Brody, and rancher Addie Malory’s story line.
WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Addie and Cade) BROKEN COWBOY follows the building romance and relationship between Cade Brody and Addie Malory. Cade Brody believes he is a broken man having been betrayed by the people he loved but to add insult to injury, Cade found himself walking an old country road following the break down of his in the middle of nowhere. Enter his would-be rescuer, ranch owner Addie Malory, and the woman with whom Cade would fall in love. Having fired her ranch hands earlier that morning, Addie found herself in desperate need of help when a stranger just so happens upon her path. Hiring Cade was the best thing she would ever do but someone has targeted our story line heroine, and the attacks are becoming more dangerous and personal. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Cade and Addie, and the potential fall-out as Addie pushes Cade out of her heart, while her life quickly spirals out of control.
Cade Brody has loved and lost, and in this his time with Addie is only temporary until he gets himself back on his feet. Having left everything behind five years earlier, Cade has been a lost soul roaming from town to town, going where the rodeo and help is needed but Cade never expected the likes of Addie Malory, a strong-willed, independent woman whose independence is about to attract all kinds of trouble. Addie Malory had always wanted to own a ranch but without the experience or help, Addie was struggling to make ends meet. Having fired her last three employees, our heroine continued to struggle but none more so than with the backlash of firing some of the most dangerous and self-entered men around.
The relationship between Addie and Cade is one of immediate attraction but Cade has suffered betrayal at the hands of the woman he once loved, a betrayal that destroyed his love for the only family still around. Believing himself broken and incapable of his own happily ever after, Cade never expected to find his heart with Addie Malory. The $ex scenes are intimate, seductive and impassioned without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to Cade’s twin brother Cord, and their friends Zack and Joe; townies Dan, Helga, Ivan, Veta, and Lana;deputy Mark Harden; and ranch hands Ted Bellinger, Pete O’Brien Jr and Jorge.
BROKEN COWBOY is a story of betrayal, vengeance and lies, revelations and forgiveness, heart break, love and family. The premise is edgy, dramatic and startling; the romance is sensual and emotional; the characters are colorful, energetic and stubborn.
Healing hurts, finding peace and belonging, love and family Broken Cowboy (The Montana Men Series Book 1 by Jamie Schulz is so much more than a romance. This book is an exploration of two people who have suffered at the whims of others. Cade truly is a broken Cowboy with years worth of walls around his heart that finally start to crumble when he accepts Addie’s help. With a deal that benefits them both, bringing them into constant and close contact, the cracks from crumbling walls allows tentative hope to sprout and start to grow. The connection and hope isn’t the only things that are building. Cade and Addie’s flirting fuels tension of red hot chemistry, readying to explode, setting them up for healing or heartache. What I love about these characters is their ability to set aside the negative thoughts and lead with their hearts. It doesn’t always work, but it allows them to have a beginning. Cade is a sincere sweet talker, giving Addie a sense of being wanted and cared for. But that sweet talking cowboy sure knows how to turn up the heat! The truck, the barn, the striptease walk and into the bedroom - so hot and just the beginning. The plot surpasses the average romance. There is more at play than just two people working together, becoming friends and lovers, healing rifts and hearts. There is suspense, hidden danger and even a little bit of psychological thriller thrown in there too. A duo of antagonists keep the reader wondering who is doing what and why as well as wondering if there’s another one completely unexpected. Overall, a very well written western romance that put the pictures of the setting in your mind as you read along. The characters go through so much, but find peace and joy in each other for a wonderfully beautiful HEA.
Broken Cowboy by Jamie Schulz is a great read. This is my first time reading Ms. Schulz and it definitely won't be the last. Ms. Schulz has written wonderful characters that capture your attention and heart right away. I was caught up almost immediately and couldn't put it down. I wanted to see what happens next.
Addie and Cade are both lonely souls afraid of love. They both have had their hearts broken and are in a low point in their lives. They happen upon each by accident. Cade's truck broke down and was walking to town, Addie had just had a fight with and fired her ranch hands and was headed to town to see about finding a new hand. Addie sees the truck on the road and then the cowboy walking down the highway. She stops to pick Cade up, their respective attractions are almost immediate. Talking on the drive to town they find they can help each other out and so it begins...........
Addie and Cade's story will keep you turning the page. Their story is far from straight forward. They run into all kinds of twists and turns, some you never see coming. You will experience ALL THE FEELS. You will love not only the main characters and but many of the supporting ones as well. I hope that Ms. Schulz will write books for some of these great characters and allow us to have glimpses into Addie and Cade's future.
This is definitely a book to read if you like cowboys and a Happily Ever After.
The story is about Addison who moved to the country to run a ranch, which has always been a dream of hers. The story starts out with her firing the employees working on her farm because they don't complete the work she ask them too. Then on her way to advertise for help she picks up Caden. Caden is trying to leave town after the rodeo when his truck breaks down. Thinking he can earn some money before heading out of town, Caden agrees to work with Addison. The two work together to fix up her ranch and also develop a steamy relationship. Caden's former life comes back in the form of his friend Zack, which opens up wounds that he hasn't gotten over. Addison is dealing with mysterious noises and things going missing, making her thing she is crazy. The story comes to a head when Addison and Caden are trying to figure out where they belong and then Addison is kidnapped. I received an advanced copy of Broken Cowboy and I greatly appreciate that from Jamie. I really enjoyed the story. There was always something going on to make me keep reading. If you like romance with a bit of mystery then this is a book for you.
Broken Cowboy is a very intense romance story. I have read work from this author before, and I really enjoyed it. Broken Cowboy brings Cade and Addie together in a way that is purely happenstance. It's a grand story of how they met with an unexpected, coincidental encounter. Both bring baggage that they still carry, and are still haunted by. It's a hot and steamy, yet heart breaking and heart lifting story. This author has a great imagination and I'm glad it's being shared with stories. This read is so engrosssing, it brings you right in the middle of the story. This read is more than just words on a page. It's a remarkable journey for both Cade and Addie, and it is just the beginning. Broken Cowboy is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I look forward to reading many more stories by this author.
I read an ARC of this book and I really liked it. I’ve read all of Jamie’s books and she really writes a great love story. This one had plenty of angst and lots of internal dialog and great action too. The hero and heroine had great chemistry and were hot hot hot. I love a good cowboy love story and this did not disappoint. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the series!
Who doesn’t love a rugged, handsome cowboy riding in to save the day? Jamie Shultz has more than delivered with this awesome story of a cowboy struggling under the burden of emotional baggage.

Addie Malory purchased a rundown farm that needs lots of work. She knows she needs help, but she resents the attitude of men who think she’s just a helpless female. When the struggling is getting heavy, however, she hires a new ranch hand who seems to know what he’s doing.
Cade Brody’s past has him falling apart, just drifting now. So when Addie offers him a job, he is grateful. However, someone is vandalizing her property and trying to drive her off. So for now, his attentions are fully on protecting her and taking care of this matter.
With Cade stepping up like this, trying to save Addie’s dream, her feelings for him start to come alive. Then his past puts him in the position of having to choose. Will he stay to protect Addie and let himself fall in love? Or will he choose the reconciliation from his brother he hadn’t thought would ever be offered after they argued over his cheating fiancée Jenny? But when the barn is set on fire and Addie fears for the life of her horse, not listening to Cade that he saved the horse, the two of them over-reacted when their argument dredged up painful memories from their pasts. And now she wants him to leave.
This is a good story about dealing with powerful triggers contained in the “old baggage” that each of the main characters is trying to handle. Their argument brought it all to a head, as neither was hearing the other. Would they figure it out and get back together? Or would they walk away from any possible relationship? Grab your copy and see how this can resolve.
Addy has moved from Seattle to a small town and bought a ranch. Her problem though is she fried the foreman in the morning when he got physical with her. Now with no workers, she is worried about the hay and corn that need to be harvested. Cade Brody has had a rough five years since he left his family's ranch and gone on the rodeo circuit. Now with his truck broken, he finds himself walking on the road back to the town he had just left. That is until a truck passes him and reverses. Addy then asks if he needs a ride. While going to the town she asks some questions but he really has the job. The story from there goes in two different directions or maybe more. One, who is causing all of the problems still going on at the ranch, two will they both express their feelings for each other, three both need some type of healing before it is too late. The last one almost happens but you will need to read the story to find out what happens. A good story that I was able to read in a few hours for it really had me glued to the pages. Good characters as well as the story, very much worth the read. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow as at www.1rad-readerreveiws.com
Addie’s dream was to own a farm. She finally got one, and her farmhands would either hit on her or destroy her equipment. As she was looking for someone new, she picked up Cade on the side of the road. Addie and Cade had been through so much in their lives, and it was hard to trust each other. Some magnetism drew them together. Cade had already told Addie he would help her fix things up and then be on his way. Things kept happening to Addie and her farm that Cade knew he couldn’t leave yet until he knew Addie would be safe.
Each chapter drew me in further to their story. They would go on with the day to day lives while the months passed and the weather changed. This story had me crying, laughing, angry and feeling content.
Maddie's dream is to be financially independent, have her own property, and become successful in the career she has chosen. And while she is on her way to that, problems just keep popping up. Meeting Cade may just be the catalyst for change that she needs. Broken in spirit, down on his luck, his entrance in her life starts feelings that she thought were behind her. But when sabotage and trouble strikes, will this hardworking cowboy have the stamina to continue? Will Maddie's dreams become nightmares? Will the hope of family be a futile endeavour?

If you’ve read Jamie Schulz’s Angel Eyes Series, then you know she can write cowboys. And I had no doubt that she would do well with this novel. Broken Cowboy ticks all the right buttons with a cowboy romance. The story progresses at a slow burn, every glorious page, and then there’s the suspense, which is a bit stomach churning, it was so well written. Their happily ever after is hard won and you won’t be disappointed.
This story held my attention right from the start; it had good characters, twists, suspense, romance, pasts, ups, downs, secrets, lies, forgiveness, sadness, happiness, violent acts, hope, friends, family, support and love. I believed in Addie and Cade's connection and chemistry, I liked seeing them come together and show how much they cared, and how strong their connection was.

This is the first book in this series this is the story of Cade and Addie. Addie buys a rundown farm and is trying to make a go of it; however it is not going well until she hires Cade. He is between rodeos and is grateful for the job, when her place gets vandalized and harass, he puts his past hurts behind him and to keep her safe.

Addie, the freelance writer and newbie farm owner, and Cade, the random rodeo rider and wanderer, actually made a pretty darn good couple. I still don’t understand what made Addie want to buy a rundown farm or why Cade didn’t get more info before he took off from Montana. But their story was flowing and kept me interested. Good chemistry. Trigger warnings.
This is the first time I have read this author. It was a sweet romance with a lot of swerves. I enjoyed how the author provided an extended storyline that shared life after the HEA.

Addie and Cade have an interesting and sweet story. This is a longer, well written read that has a fantastic cast of characters, both main and side. There is a rollercoaster of ups and downs, with action, danger, and romance. There is sizzling chemistry between Addie and Cain.
This was such a wonderful love story. I enjoyed it very much. The storyline was spot on and was well executed. You have action, drama and adventure and love all in one book. loved the characters, I enjoyed this book can't wait for their next one. I recommend it.
Broken Cowboy by Jamie Schulz is a contemporary cowboy romance, which begins with a broken-down old truck, a woman with a truck that works, and a promise of a job for a few months. This turned out to be a better book that it started off. In the beginning it promised to be just another sexy novel, which it was, but it also had a terrific plot and good story. If Schulz had let the slow burn happen instead of talking about it incessantly the opening chapters of the book would have been considerably better. As it was, the book really began as odd things started happening around the ranch. Well, more than odd, really. Some of it was downright dangerous: the barn burning, the house ransacked, and equipment destroyed. The odd things were when things started not being where Addie had left the. As always, the crux of the story was miscommunication, or rather, lack of communication. It is never a good idea for a single woman, living in the country, to get on the wrong side of not-so-nice-guys. Addie had done just that with the farmhands she had fired: Ted and JR and Jorje. Now she was paying, but she couldn't prove a thing.
Cade had left home because his brother had cheated with his no-good fiancée. He didn't asked questions and he didn't talk about it. He just left. It had been darkening his hear for years, now and he firmly believed he didn't need love, in fact, as not able to love. Some time at Addie's farm turned him around, but he still had no confidence. Then, his brother appeared, they talked, and things changed. He left anyway. This book had some heart-pounding moments and it also had light-hearted ones. There were good friends, soon-to-become friends, and flat-out enemies. It was sad; loving, and heart breaking. I enjoyed it.
I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Broken Cowboy by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #netgalley #brokencowboy
First book of The Montana Men series and off to a great start. A chance meeting due a broken down pickup truck brings Cade and Addie together. Addie has her own set of heartbreaks and setbacks, but still will do what it takes to fulfill her dreams. Cade has been wandering around for the last five years. Betrayed by his fiancée and his brother….his twin no less, down on his luck and broke on top of it. He accepts the ride offered by Addie to town and winds up getting a job to work on her farm. Sparks fly, but both egos are to battered and bruised. Cade wants only to earn enough money to fix his truck and hit the road. Trouble hits the farm and Cade could not leave Addie to deal with it herself, strong as she is, In protecting her they explore the spark between them, but is it enough to forget the pain and insecurities of the past? I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story.
Addie, a freelance farmer and wannabe farmer, is having trouble hiring good hands but picking up a down on his luck cowboy, walking into town from his broken down truck, turns out to be a brilliant stroke of luck. Cade may be short of money but he is a hard worker and not unhappy to take orders from a woman: it doesn’t hurt that he is also hot. It is not long before the two get together but malevolent forces and Cade’s past muddy their romance. I did feel that this book was overly long and in fact a third of the way through I swapped to another book and then returned to it. There were times that I wanted to shake both of these characters but the reader does eventually get a happy ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I read this book as arc. This my first book I’ve read of Jamie’s. Looking forward to reading more. Thank you Jamie Schulz for writing such a great story. This is a story about Addie & Cade. Addie lost her boyfriend in a tragic accident. Cade had been betrayed by his former girlfriend. They both needed each other. He helped her with her ranch and she helped him learn to trust again. They became friends and then fell in love. Went through some tragedies. Trust & the love for each other got them through it .
I thought this was a very good book that delivers major feels. Cade and Addie each had some baggage and they shared an attraction that was obvious. Your heart gets a real workout here as the storyline unfolds and their relationship evolves. Tension, drama, emotion, suspense, heart and romance make a potent combination that pulls you in and keeps you right on the edge. This is my frank, freely posted review.
