Lies & Truths Duet #2

All the Truths

Rate this book
The truth doesn't set you free.

Revenge shouldn’t be rushed. It needs to be savored.
Reina ruined my life and it’s only fair I ruin hers back.
Or that was the plan.
That was before she got under my skin and flowed into my blood.
Life as we know it crashes and burns.
All we have left is revenge.
Or is it?

All The Truths is a dark new adult book that contains dubious situations some readers might find offensive and/or triggering. If you're looking for a hero, you won't find him in Asher Carson. Please don't read if any of that bothers you.

All The Truths is part of a duet and is not standalone.

3.5⭐️ Okay definitely my least favorite duet of Rina Kent’s so far but I still was throughly entertained! Book 1 was better to me… idk why I feel like this happens with a lot of Rina Kent’s duets, they would be SO much better as longer standalones! This second book just dragged out a bit in the end. But there’s no denying that that I still ate it up and had so much fun regardless. I fear Rina puts crack in her books.

Spectacular! So hot that steam is still coming out of my kindle!

The perfect conclusion to All The Lies. All of my questions were answered and the book was so sizzling hot I nearly burnt my fingers while holding my kindle. I loved the characters of Reina and Asher. The fact that they had an undeniable attraction to each other was just great. More than that, they have a connection that both of them tried to deny but just couldn’t and they always ended up coming back to each other.

Asher definitely had more than one reason to hate Reina. She had cheated on him while she was engaged to him. When they were younger they were friends and on there way to falling in love when all the sudden she pushed him away and became cold and he never knew why. Then finally he blames her for driving his little sister to committing suicide. Since Ash was the only one with his sister at the time, only he knows why he thinks that Reina had anything to do with it and he isn’t saying what he knows.

Reina’s memories have not all returned, they are coming back bit by bit so she still doesn’t have any clue if she had done anything to Arianna, so she is unable to defend herself. But she knows that she can’t stay away from Asher and he can’t stay away from her. She loves the way he makes her feel. Rina Kent can write dark erotic romance so well. Ash has such feelings of guilt because he wants Reina so bad and he feels he has to hate her for his little sister. Though he has wanted and has been obsessed with Reina for a long time before his sister died.

I really like books with hot alpha males like Asher. He dominant and manly and wanted to fight any guy that hurt her or looked at her funny. I would hate that in real life but I think it is kind of cute in books! Especially when a guy gets all growly and “you’re mine” and all that. This book was quite a bit more steamy than the first book, but I liked that.

However, even with all the romantic scenes there was still quite a bit of story. There was the storyline about Asher’s sister and his reasons for returning to the US. There was the storyline about Reina getting beat up and losing her memory at the beginning of book one, and the fact that she cheated on Asher and was still getting text messages from the guy. Plus there were a few other surprises along the way. It was such a good book. I can’t wait to read Rina Kent’s next book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

'ALL THE TRUTHS' is a full length romance book in Rina Kent's 'Lies & Truths' duet. It picks up where the first book left off. Spoken in 'dual perspectives.'

Without a doubt this was an easy 5 star read! Like the first book this one also was amazing and ticked all my boxes! I couldn’t put it down, didn’t want it to end, loved every single thing about this book, and fell heart and all for these characters.

A phenomenal, suspenseful, steamy, intense, and mind blowing read.

All those truths were finally revealed. Twists and turns had me lapping up the pages, loving this roller coaster of a bumpy ride this author set me on where the past and present collide into a high octane mind f#ck of epic proportions that left me reeling in its wake. .

Read this duet it comes highly recommended by yours truly! This author has fast become a one click full up my iPad during these crazy times!

Safety:
- totally safe, they never even kissed other people

Triggers:
- he is a complete asshole, hurts her physically by grabbing her too hard and pressing her bruises, grabs her throat until she can’t barely breath

She is so fucking stupid, she knows he is an asshole who wants to end her fucking live and what did she do? Lust after him, try to figure out what she did wrong so she can fix things with him ahhhh
Practically begging him for affection, accepting any fucking crumble he throws her away.

I can deal with submission during sex but here it pissed me off because looks like she was submitted to her everywhere not only in bed and there is a different between being a sub and being a fool. He does what he wants to her. She wants to be fucked be wants oral sex so they have oral sex. He finally wants to fuck her so she obviously let him. He wants to fuck her in the ass so he fucks her in the ass. Cmon girl where the fuck is your strength?

Where the fuck is the groveling? He is an asshole to her for the entire fucking book and when they find out she was not the one to blame he literally just says he is sorry and they slept together cuddling because she doesn’t want to fight that night. Fuck that shit

He is totally devoted to his sister and I didn’t see 10% of that devotion toward the heroine.

She doesn’t hold grudges and that shit doesn’t sit well with me because I do, I remember every single shit he did to her but apparently she forgets everything on the first sign of his abs.

Her life makes no sense she really considers suicide but then she realizes he doesn’t want her dead so suddenly her life has meaning again. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Where the fuck was his redemption? What’s the point of writing a duet if the second book follows the same pattern as the first only with less abuse and more sex

After they learn the truth heroine suffers an attack and instead of making him grovel on his knees she finds out that life is too short so why not live the present?! Fuck you stupid woman, he left you for three fucking years and when he comes back he is toxic and you didn’t even make him work?

Penelope Douglas pupils here is this thing about how you writing a dark romance book, you can’t forget the romantic aspect of the story and whore x virgin literally kills it

“You were the only girl I wanted to kiss since I learned what kissing is and the only one I wanted to fuck since I learned what fucking means. All the others were nothing compared to you. I couldn’t even get hard at the sight of them, and that didn’t change when I went to England. Every time I felt the urge, I pulled out your picture or thought of the nights we had together and jerked off to them. I might have wanted to ruin you, but I could never stop the need to own you, too.”

This wasn’t as good as book 1 for sure, albeit for me. Yeah, I was surprised because I couldn’t guess the main twist among other things but there was something missing here! Maybe the revealing was soon… I don’t know. I skimmed the last 10%. Told in dual POV, 1st person. It’s the second installment in the "Lies & Truths Duet" and has to be read in order. Overall, It wasn’t that bad but it wasn’t really good either, hope you enjoy it more than me!

”You can't leave me, not anymore." His lips brush against mine in a brief, heartbreaking kiss. "You're my world now.”

before y’all say anything, i explain why the 3 stars lol. grab your sit bc this shit is crazy.
first of all, i finished this book in one sitting. crazy, right? rina got my balls in a choke hold. well, if i had balls, that is. i ate this up and left no crumbs! can we take a minute to talk about the action? or rai mf sokolov? istg, i just met her but i love her to death! and it’s not only bc she gave birth to my precious niko… and kyle is her bodyguard? I’M GONNA LOSE MY SHIT WHEN I READ THEIR BOOKS!!!!! i just know it.
but let’s talk about the mcs of this book LMAO.

reina is kinda lame if you ask me. but so far she’s one of the good fmcs i ran into. i screamed when she attacked that detective. but no surprise here: she was a virgin before asher. and guess what? she’s also blond. istg this shit needs to stop. besides this, she didn’t give me any emotion whatsoever. i was more interesting in where the hell was her sister tbh…

asher could’ve avoided the whole “i order, you follow” bc oh man, it doesn’t suit you—at all. he’s the biggest simp on earth, if you ask me. as we say in italy, ✨all smoke and no roast✨.

now, we have to talk about jason who was the biggest jerk bc not only did he help someone commit suicide, but he didn’t even try to save or at least convince this person to not do it. and ofc, i didn’t buy it for a second: he wasn’t cloud003. surprise! no plot twist here.
arianna was something else. let’s say that. and—god help me—i’m glad she died.

the romance was weird, bc one moment they were hating each other, then they were all over each other????? HOW. but i must admit the smut was good! again, no surprise here. one thing about rina kent is that she usually writes good smut (there are exceptions tho).
the amnesia trope worked well here imo. the fact that reina didn’t know about a side of her family, or that she had a sister; made the mystery more intriguing. disclaimer: i knew it bc—damn me—i read LOG before the other books.

As I pull my trembling legs to my chest, I can hear it loud and clear: the breaking of a heart. The smash, the fall. I can almost see the pieces surrounding me like broken glass.

There’s something so utterly hard about standing up after a fall. The ground keeps pulling me down as if not willing to let me go. It’s gravity, I know that, but my brain is unable to process that fact right now.

Asher took everything from me. Maybe I have taken everything from him, too. Now we have nothing. Don’t they say those who have nothing to lose are the scariest?

If temptation had a name, it’d be Reina.

My heart suddenly resurrects back to life, beating and thumping so wildly it’s impossible to keep up. It’s as if it’s been dead since the morning and Asher just gave it a reason to be alive.

How is it possible for someone to want another human being without limits? Without thoughts about consequences?

The only thing that fills my mind, heart, and soul is him. Just him.

“Because I can’t fucking live without you. I tried it and it was hell.”

“I thought I was the only one so hopeless for you.” “I was hopeless for you, too, Ash.”

I question those who found this remotely good in ways a book should be good. Not about it being entertaining, but just that the storyline or characters were possibly fleshed out and developed well enough.

I've given high ratings to books that didn't deserve it, but I've explained myself in the review. I was probably able to look over somethings. I know everyone has their own taste and opinions and I respect it. I just feel duped that no one at least shared how fucking nonsensical this was.

I don't even think I have it in me to be nice in this review. I gave book one two stars mainly because the smut kept me entertained. But dudettes, this was beyond bad. This is probably one of the worse books I've ever read. And it's not that it was problematic, y'know like Aiden was in the other series. This plot was just a hot fucking mess.

There was absolutely no reason the main villain of this book should've been it. There wasn't even hints of it in the first book. It was stupid. Also, the side plot of the Bratva? Dear lord, I rolled my eyes so hard. I wish I could get back the hour I spent on this book. That being said, if Xander and Kim's book, which is being released soon sucks too, then I'll most likely be done with this author.

The Royal Elite series had a psychotic toxic hero as the lead, but at least he fucking was intriguing. And that plot was pretty good until the end. Asher had no personality and Reina was as interesting as my trash. Asher was more interesting in Aiden and Elsa's epilogue than his own duet.

This book is a total mess. The plot is all over the place. There's amnesia but Ariana out the ultimate villain and Rai and Reina switched place. Basically Rai became Reina and Reina became rai.

I didn't like the twin swap thing. The mafia plot and Ariana's plot is completely ridiculous.

It's just filled with filthy sex which I also didn't enjoy because the plot already irritated me. The writing is also not that appealing rather very poor. When we read a book, we want to feel emotions through it. This book didn't have any of those.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

It was intense.
Then the revelations unraveled and it was confusing. I struggled to finish it.
And all these twists, were too much for my preferences, it was overloaded.
And the mafia involved??? Oh, please!!! 🤯

As soon as Asher's arm falls from my back, I slip my hand into his, threading our fingers together.
He stares at my expression then at our linked hands with a slight awe on his face.

this was a little better than the first book but, overall, still not my fav RK story. im starting to think her mafia romances work for me more than her bully romances. 😩 the second half of the book was my fav part (speaking of, i loved seeing Kyle/Rai here, even tho i know this duet came before theirs but i read it out of order so😂) and Reina and Asher were pretty cute (especially after the shit they went through, it was nice to see cute moments between them) but idk, i just wasn't completely invested with them or their romance. can i just say?? it was cute af how they were each other's first and last. 😭

4.5-star ***SPOILERS @ Sexual History***

MEH or the BAD:
Half-star off due to how long H&h's animosity & misunderstandings lasted. There could've been more angst & deeper emotional pull, if shown each other's despair & longing for the other during the years their relationship suddenly changed & the misunderstandings that kept building.

The GOOD:
Still unpredictable & fast-paced as book1. So, when 1 mystery is revealed a new set unveils until the big reveals towards the end. I liked being taken aback by the new mysteries & reveals. Good emo-involvement & emo-depth with me unexpectedly teary-eyed towards the end with H&h's love declaration for each other, some angst but not heavy angst. Good rom dev/char dev. Good S chem & bareback S details with h on birth control & with H&h only oraling each other in 1st 50% coz of H's wrestling between his loyalty to his deceased sister & his strong feelings for h.

Good character development. Really liked h's character in her practical survival mentality. She battled with depression and suicidal thoughts but she never played the victim. She got herself out of it with a sense of purpose & new courage. She was funny and sexy. Simple yet complicated but opted for simplicity & honesty. Loved that she learned valuable lessons from her major trials like getting repeatedly harmed. And put them to use.

H's character is more visible & fleshed-out in book2 with his ongoing obsession with h & his wrestling with his loyalty with his sister & inability to fatally harm h. Loved H's OTT stalkery obsession & jealous-possessive alpha-dominance with h. Even when he hated her & planned to kill her, he couldn't control his attraction & fascination with h. Especially after her amnesia, when she started acting & talking like the real her and without her pre-amnesia controlled facade. Loved that he couldn't get attracted to any other girl/woman ever since he was 12 and was suddenly felt connected to the back-from-kidnapping 12yo h.

Loved that the writing made it clear that H wasn't attracted at all to h's identical sister and he suddenly had a special connection/attraction to the switched sister h. Love that it was repeatedly clarified towards the last 60% of bk2 that H&h were each other's only lovers (kiss/sexual touch/oral/anal/intercourse). Loved their raw & rough sex and how both were mutually into it. Loved the 5-year epilogue with H&h married months after h & her twin sister was finally reunited & the mafia villain killed & everything explained. Loved that both went on to build their lives together with career & all and now want to start having kids together.

Sexual History:
18yo/Almost-18yo h deliberately gave her virginity to her MOC-fiance 18yo H without him knowing that she knew it was him she was smexxing in the dark at an outdoor party. He thought that she just smexxed him as some random stranger she picked out in the dark & that she'd been cheating on him with other men
(while she won't even let him kiss or touch him since they got engaged when they were 15yo due to their father's inheritance-arrangement. Because h was actually Rai since she & her twin sister Reina switched places like Parent Trap movie when they 1st met when both were 12yo when their mom whom h was raised with kidnapped h's twin sister from their Dad so they can all escape together but they were found out and her mom was killed and both sisters switched so h got to know their Dad & live a stable life instead of always being on the run. So the overbearing head-cheerleader with her perfect make-up & trendy wear was actually her very own life as "Reina". It was a pretend persona to ward-off emotional attachments with people she actually did like since she was only borrowing her sister's identity & was waiting on the day she & her sister would switch back.) since he caught a teacher saying her name while being BJ-ed under his classroom desk. What H didn't know was that it was actually his younger sister who was BJ-ing the teacher, who she told to call her h's name during their sex-play as part of her scheme to ruin H&h's romance.

H's younger sister was actually the major culprit in their misunderstandings in high school as well as the dares other people got involved in & was blamed on h. His sister set things up so both would think the other was cheating on them (i.e., H told to go to the classroom to catch the teacher calling h's name while being BJ-ed, h finding somebody's bra in H's gym bag, h's sister with the maid's son's assistance started a tell-all school Instagram account to spread gossip & incriminating photos). His younger sister had mental issues since their mom's death when H was 10yo. H and h had been taking his sister under their wing since H's Dad was always working. They didn't know that she had a secret psychotic hatred towards both of them and would play the weak victim in front of them while progressively sabotaging their romance since she wanted them to be as miserable as her. So, @ her final sabotage, she told H that h had been secretly demeaning her all this time before she jumped to death with an "I'm sorry". And it worked. It caused H to hate h & leave her for Oxford in the next 3 years. And made h even lonelier and more of a tighter emotional robot than she already was.

Every Halloween night after their 1st time smexxing (both H&h were both virgins with each other with both thinking the other had already smexxed others) they would have a masked sex rendezvous they set up on Instagram messaging. Before her amnesia, h knew all along it was H who was the anonymous "Cloud003" account but H thought she was just sexting a masked stranger. Despite that, H would fly back to their town from Oxford each Halloween just to smex h. She didn't let him know she knew his masked identity because it provided her with anonymity and freedom to fully express her suppressed feelings/desire for him, who she knew hated her & blamed her for his sister's suicide. After her amnesia, h didn't remember who Cloud003's real identity was & thought it was their maid's adult son who was the account-holder & who she had a secret affair with. She responded to the current Instagram messages to express her confusion & emotions, viewing the maid's son Cloud003 as her friend. She also thought she had been cheating on H & unsure if she'd ever smexxed H.

Before 59% in bk2, H would only go as far as oraling h several times until she'd fall asleep & then he'd sleep elsewhere. @59% H&h finally smex including anal but would still not sleep next to h. Later as both their feelings get stronger & h gradually remembers more, he ends up sleeping with her.

It's_not_hoarding_if_it's_books Ig page

Fast-paced, intriguing and totally addictive. The second book in this duet had it all. Suspense in spades, action, secretes revealed, mafia, hot sex scenes, possessive H, strong heroine.

Asher and Reina learn the truth about their messed up relationship. She remembers most of her life before the attack now, and starts to see the old Rei in a new light.
Ash is conflicted with his feeling , his mind wants revenge, but his soul tell him otherwise.
Rei lets herself live in the moment, and doesn't resist her attraction for Ash as she did in the past.

Once the secretes are revealed , they see eachother in a new light , but danger still lurks , ready to finish Reina. Will Ash be there to save her this time too? or will he listen to his mind , and get his revenge? you'll have to read to find out😉

Overall, a very good new adult duet , that keeps you wondering and suspecting. The plot keeps you entertained and the characters and interesting and complex.

Well I did get all the answers I needed after finishing All the Truths. Was it predictable? Yes. Did I enjoy the story? Some but not as much as I’d hoped. I think it all got a little repetitive especially Reina mentioning how much she enjoyed Asher’s smell. Citrus and sandalwood! For the hundredth time! I get it! Also her calling him Ash when he doesn’t like it. It got tiresome in book 1 and still was in book 2. There was one twist I didn’t see coming. Was it over the top ? Yes but it didn’t bother me. This Duet was a little all over the place and I went along for the ride. Asher is one possessive and dominant alpha. I liked him and his chemistry with Reina was awesome. It had a great ending. Typical Asher. So overall it was ok.

Update/Reread/Relisten
That was a wild ride! I'm still a little confused on some things - but that's ok, we can work on it together.

It’s all over now. All the bad blood and unsaid words. All the secrets and lies. It’s…over.

Reina Ellis has just learned that the person who has been trying to kill her might be none other than her deranged fiancé, Asher Gray Carson. Some of her memories are starting to trickle back in, and she's trying to make up for the wrongs she's done - but she still can't figure out what she did to make Asher hate her so much. With every truth she uncovers, the more questions arise.
You made me believe you were my savior when you were the villain all along.

Even though Asher feels justified in his hatred of Reina, he can't deny the intense pull he has towards her or his obsession with her. But how can you plan a future with someone you want to destroy?
I keep coming back to her whether I like to or not. She has me under some black magic. It’s in the way she looks at me like she never looks at anyone else. Like I’m her one and only….This woman is my hell and I’m ready to burn….. This woman is my hell and I’m ready to burn.

The mystery around the death of Asher's sister Arianna is still in question, who was at the cabin Rei was found at, who assaulted her at the cabin, who is Cloud003, who has been trying to kill her, is Reina really an ugly monster, why was Reina so bitchy during the last 9 years, and who the hell can she trust? Eventually, ALL the truths come out and Asher and Reina get an HEA.

SEX: It doesn’t really turn sexual until the 34% mark. A lot of the times were faded out and I wasn’t left satisfied with a lot of them. Not saying they don’t have passion – it’s just that it didn’t live up to my standards.

AUDIO: This husband/wife team narrate. I haven't heard Wen Ross & Kai Kennicott narrate before, but they're pretty good, with one exception. Kai's voice for Rei is good, but her voice for the side characters is AWFUL. Sweet Jesus she had me ready to stab my tablet. I read the first two times and listened this most

COMMUNICATION: Of course, if they had communicated better, things might not have gone the way they did. That said – the reasons they didn’t communicate made perfect sense and it wasn’t completely their fault.

KIDS: In their HEA, they eventually have two kids: Killian (God of Malice) and Gareth (Kiss the Villain). Now that I’ve read this book, Killian’s book makes so much more sense. Now I'm pissed off at Asher for being a shitty dad toward Kill. Like WTF you jackass.

FYI: I know Naomi and Sebastian (Asher's friend) get their own book. It doesn't look like Owen will get his own book, though we do find out what happens in his life. Lucy and Prescott don't get her own book either but we do find out what happens with them, too.

SIDE PIECES: There are a lot of side characters in this book and I’m putting some of the names in spoilers.
Gareth Elis: Rei's dad (deceased, I still don't know when he died).
Owen: Asher's friend, football team.
Sebastian Weaver: Friend of Asher's, football team. (Thorns Duet)

CHEER SQUAD
Naomi: Friend/enemy. (Thorns Duet).
Lucy: Friend.
Brianna/Bree: Friend/enemy.
Prescott: Male cheerleader.
Cindy
Morgan
Elizabeth: Housekeeper.
Jason Brighton: Elizabeth's son, Rei's friend.
Dean George
Detective
Cloud003

TIMELINE and CONFLICTS :

I’ve read this book multiple times and the Throne Duet twice and I still have questions. Those questions don't take away from the fact I really enjoyed this book. I liked the mystery - you kind of knew where some things were going, but it was still a good surprise in the end.

I’m warning you now, this will spoil the entire book for you if you read it. I’m putting it in here because (1) RK’s books are ones I reread often and this story in particular always leaves me confused, and (2) I hope someone else can see this and give me clarification. Again – this is a SPOILER. Oh… and if you plan on reading Throne Duet, you’ll want this info.

тепер ясно в кого кілл та гарет пішли.
like father like son 😏

This second book certainly threw some curveballs that’s for sure it was fast paced and the heat between Reina and Asher intensified.
Secrets were revealed and hidden game players were unmasked.

We get to experience Asher struggle with his emotions towards Reina and this also gave us more of an insight into his whole head-set.
Reina also gradually starts to recover her past memory’s with some surprises in store.
The final reveal here was fabulous and this easily kept my attention right until the very end.

This series definitely had plenty of darkness as well as some eventually healing though I would have loved more of an epic grovel on Asher’s part I mean he was awful towards Reina and he was sorry regarding his past treatment but that would have been so much more satisfying than his lame sorry so anticlimactic he was definitely let off too easily.
This is all then wrapped up with an epilogue set five years later.
Great series that takes you on quite the ride I liked this one a whole lot and definitely recommend.

2.5/5 ⭐
3/5 🔥

Accept from the 'plot twist' everything was bland. Their relationship felt like lust. Their chemistry, where!?
ALSO DID SHE JUST DROPPED OUT OR WHAT, cz in the previous book, she went to college and had a cheerleading team and stuff. But in this nothing no friends, no cheerleading practices, nothing.
This book only revolved around Reina, Rai, Asher, and Arianna. That's all—no side characters whatsoever. It literally felt unfinished ✋🏻
Kind of disappointed. But the plot twist was twisting so hard I had to sit up straighter while reading it 😭
Asher was all about fucking her and fighting his emotions. He felt like a freak.
I lean my head over and suck her bottom lip into my mouth like I did at twelve when she was sleeping in our guest house.
I-
Reina was all about finding her memories. That's it and the ending fighting scene was rushed; I didn't feel the fight.😐
Still, I'm glad they ended up together and how everything else turned out.

The sounds she makes are enough to make a priest sin.

My plan was simple: torture then kill her. Make her suffer then finish her miserable life. Make her mine one final time then toss her aside. Now the lines are blurring with every word out of her fucking mouth,

FIVE TRUE STARS for Reina and Asher 💛🖤💛🖤!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

PERFECT.

AMAZING.

BRILLIANT.

JUST WOW!!!

This book, this duet...

They are EVERYTHING!

I really enjoyed reading the first book, but the second one stole my heart.

"All the Truths" has everything I ever wanted from this duet and also gave me all the answers I needed after I finished reading "All the Lies".

Reina and Asher's relationship is a real roller coaster with continual ups and downs.

Their relationship is hate, love, twisted, sweet and after all, it's...

REAL.

SPECIAL.

Asher is the male character who hiding his true colores but in this book, he showed his true face and I totally fell in love with him.

Reina surprised me a lot.

Her history is heartbreaking.

She is the female character who showed that no matter how life can sometimes be, you should be strong and fighting until the end.

Because only the strongest remain.

I'll really miss Reina and Asher because they found their place in my heart.

If you've read the first book from "Lies & Truths Duet" and you also love reading Rina's books then this is the book for you!!!

Highly recommended!!!

5 ”Asher and Reina” stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I want the light and the darkness. The sanity and the madness. The beauty and the ugliness.
I want everything.
Just like I need him to accept me whole.

Another brilliant story by Rina Kent. The way she writes a story it simply pulls you in and wrecks havoc on you with the twists and turns. I devoured this book in one seating. The angst, suspense, drama and the romance, I loved it all. Whatever I predicted was going to happen, I still got shocks and surprises.

”We’re in this together.”
My brows furrow. “Why would you want to help me?”
He reaches me in two seconds and wraps a hand around my neck. “Because I own you, my ugly monster.”

When I found out in the last book that Asher was behind all those accidents, taking revenge because he believes Reina is the reason her sister committed suicide, I honestly hated it even though knowing his reasoning. I didn’t know how the author was going to redeem him. Surprise surprise, she did it. Their was a bigger game at play. After knowing getting inside Asher’s mind, I felt his pain and how much he was hurting. It was his grief that led to those actions. I could see that he loved Reina a lot and at the end his love won.

”Are you running away from me, prom queen?”
“No.” Yes.
“You can’t leave me, not anymore.” His lips brush against mine in a brief, heartbreaking kiss. “You’re my world now.”

Reina was a kickass heroine and my favourite in this duet. I loved her strength and caring attitude. How she redeemed herself in front of her friends. Her past was fucked up. No child should go through so much. It takes a lot to be with someone you know wants to hurt you. They both had a strong pull towards each other. I enjoyed watching them work through their issues.

”That’s not the word.” He slaps the inner flesh of my thigh in such an erotic way that it makes me gasp for air. “Now, say it.”
I gulp, trying to gather enough energy to speak.
He slaps my ass this time, and my mouth opens in a wordless cry. Shit. Why the hell is that such a turn-on?
“Last.” Slap. “Chance.”
My body jerks off the bed as I choke out the words. “I…I belong to you. Only you.”

Lastly, I don’t know how the author does it but the sex scenes just keep getting hotter and hotter in her every books. I am definitely not complaining as long as it doesn’t take away from the story. Their sexual chemistry is off the charts.

If you guys love dark angsty romance with a possessive and dominant hero, a kickass heroine and suspense that keeps you on your toes, then this book is for you. ♥️

I can’t with this series. I’m not sure how this is getting anything higher than 1 star and can only imagine it’s the Arc reviewers pumping it up.

The first book was a mess and this one picks up exactly where we left and is messier. No development of story or character but continues to add more subplots that doesn’t make sense. Everyone is jumbled together and the crazy mafia and villain - excuse you what?!?

Nothing good to say!

I just have to add: I came into this series after just reading Rina’s Royal Elite series, which was fantastic, and well this was so not and fell completely flat. So disappointing. I’m just so perplexed how it can go from great to utterly terribly by this author.

This book was devoured. It was so addictive and strategically placed. As the past and present merges, situation turns into a shocking uncertainities. Asher and Reina were betrayed and played. So much secrets and lies with life threatening situations has them questioning loyalties and their dymatic with one other. The book was fast paced with best plot. There is not a moment to breathe. Asher's possessiveness towards Reina has no bounds and Reina's personality was so lovable.

This duet was crazy and intenseful. I highly recommend this if you are up for some intoxicating love and combustion of problematic situations.

Sooooo, maybe I should have listened to some of my book besties when they said dnf this.

But one of the main reasons I didn’t dnf it was because Rai’s story is the next duet, and I didn’t want to miss anything important that might have impacted her story.

However, this duet is definitely my least favorite by Rina Kent so far, and it’s frustrating because of how conflicted I was while reading this. In the end, the bad outweighed the good things in this duet.

As for Rai’s story, I have some hope; we’re stepping into the mafia world, and I’m interested to see where Rina will take that story.
