Treasure hunting leaves little room for romance…

Brie Hamilton has learned to trust logic, not emotion. Fairy tale endings and love at first sight simply don’t exist. Then a sexy historian hires her to captain his research vessel and she starts to question everything—including why she shouldn’t sleep with her boss…

Brent Calloway has spent his career hunting for sunken treasure. Now, the biggest discovery of his life is finally within reach. When he suddenly loses his captain, he needs to scramble fast and find a replacement. He just never expected his new employee to be a woman. Now, the keys to the success of the entire operation—and maybe even his heart—are in her gorgeous, capable hands.

But treasure tends to attract trouble—and in this case, that means treacherous enemies and even a few modern-day pirates. Looks like Brie and Brent will have to fight more than the lure of forbidden desire if they want to find their happily ever after…

Saving Brie is a steamy, instalove, contemporary romantic suspense about love at first sight. It features a protective hero and the smart, feisty heroine who steals his heart.

Brent & Brie’s Adventurous Quick Read Includes Suspense, Romance, & The Search For Lost Treasure! The Description is Beautifully Written. It Takes You Into Brent’s World Of Underwater Archeology.

This is book two of The One I Want series, Brent and Brie’s story. Book one, Saving Ariel, was Aiden and Ariel’s insta-love story set on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico as a category five hurricane barreled towards them head-on.

This story opens in Tampa as Brie Hamilton, a licensed commercial boat captain, makes her way to port after picking up some men she rescued out at sea. She had been relocating a yacht from Brazil at the time. Aiden Cole shared his amazing story with her and she was happy to have come to his rescue, but the delay has cost her a bonus, and she needs another job to make up for the loss. She does well getting hired to relocate private yachts and working on charters. Although she enjoys the money, much of what she earns go to help her family – her parents and her brother’s college tuition. And then there is the sting of bad choices in men that have left her high and dry.

Brent Calloway has spent a decade researching and planning for the opportunity of a lifetime. Not just a salvage operator, he is also an underwater archeologist. He is meticulous in his plans as well as his operations. He comes from money; his father attended Harvard law and has a practice, specializing in corporate finance. Brent wasn’t interested in joining the family business. Money isn’t his biggest motivation, although he might just make a huge windfall from his business. His family doubts his efforts, but it doesn’t stop Brent. He owns a research rig, the Pendragon, and does underwater excavations. His business partner is his best friend, Donald Talbot.

Bent’s and Donald’s fathers attended law school together, and the pair have been friends forever. While Brent might be the brains behind their work, Donald brings with him the kind of connections that can open doors. Thanks to his father’s diplomatic career, Donald can help forge the relationships needed to get their work approved through the proper channels. It is not finders keepers out on the open seas – there are international laws that must be followed in order to get permission to recover lost relics hidden beneath the water. The devastating CAT 5 Hurricane Julian has just opened a window of opportunity, and Brent needs to act fast before that window closes. The hurricane tore past the Florida Keys, unsettling the ocean’s floor. Some things previously buried may now be exposed. Brent’s years of researching and planning may be about to pay off. He knows where to look for the San Fernando, a ship Spain lost 300 years ago, and with any luck, he and Donald will find it.

The search can be dangerous, though. Pirates will converge if they catch wind of a newly discovered treasure, so secrecy is of the utmost importance until they can positively identify a sunken ship and make a claim to it. Only then will the US Coast Guard lend a hand to secure the sight. Fortunately, Brent’s old high school friend Erika works as an Executive Officer on the Coast Guard’s nearby US Charles Sexton. She is aware of his efforts and remains on standby. But when their trusted captain, Gus, suddenly cannot make the trip for health reasons, Brent has no choice but to take a risk on someone new. Gus and Brie are old friends, and Brent reluctantly hires her for the job.

But even before Brent learned that she was a licensed commercial captain, he had eyes for Brie. Hiring her wasn’t exactly what he had in mind, and it would definitely throw a wrench in his plans. Brie is stubborn, independent, and smart, and though she tries to hide it, she also finds herself inexplicably attracted to Brent. Determined to keep things wholly professional, she and Brent strive to hide their growing feelings for one another. Donald, however, has no qualms letting his feelings be known. Things are tenuous aboard the Pendragon as they head toward the Keys, but that all falls into the background once they reach their destination.

Brent and Brie’s insta-love story has plenty of steamy chemistry, but they really do try to stay professional. The tension between the pair builds throughout the story. They face an incredible challenge out at sea, which serves to bond the pair and builds upon whatever they have brewing. The couple eventually finds a happy ending.

There are hints at book three of the series. Saving Cate is Caitlyn Quinn and Caleb’s second chance love story set against a mountain rescue mission. Cate is Brent’s old high school friend. She was left behind when Caleb went off and joined the military. Today she is a certified wilderness guide. She and her trusted dog named Bear help visitors enjoy all Bear Creek has to offer.

There are a few issues in this book that merit mention. Brent and Donald have been friends through their fathers for years and went to high school together, but it later says they met during college, giving Brent some new friends in Bear Creek, Montana. It claims Brent went to high school in Bear Creek and lived with his mother – a time when his parents were separated for a while. But it also states that his family (not just his mother) moved away from Bear Creek when he went off to college. Presumably, his mother would have left then to reconcile with her husband. It also states that Brent grew up in Bear Creek when he was supposedly raised in a wealthy family (no mention of a single mom), living a lifestyle Donald was jealous of. In the beginning, we just know that he was from a very wealthy family with a hugely successful law practice. Note that a lucrative and successful law practice in Bear Creek, Montana just won’t work. It seems like there were probably some alterations made near the end in order to link this to book three of the series, which would be great, but it just doesn’t all fit together nicely. It gets very messy. It is a little too ambitious, when a simple summer camp friendship, for example, would have worked to link the stories. The ending was fine, but not great as a result. It also didn’t seem to be the best venue for what Brent had in mind.

Brent and Brie’s adventurous quick read includes suspense, romance, and the search for lost treasure. The description is wonderfully written. It takes you step-by-step into Brent’s world of underwater archeology, detailing methods and various equipment used. It really immerses the reader into the story. The plot is somewhat simple. It is mostly predictable. The characters are nicely developed, though there are some issues with Brent’s background as noted above. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Brent and Brie. I rate this book four stars.

I've read several books written by Ellie Masters; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.

This is part of the One I Want Series; it is a instalove stand-alone book. The story is about Brie & Brent; she is a boat captain and needs a job; he needs a boat captain. I loved the chemistry between them.

Saving Brie had my complete attention.

From the moment Brie and Brent first met, to the way their relationship started, to the journey of finding the treasure, to the drama that ensued, it was all good.

Were there bits and pieces that weren't my favorite? Well yeah there were, but it wasn't major enough to reduce my enjoyment of the book.

I am really enjoying The One I Want series, and cannot wait to see how the next book goes.

“Not a man, Gus.” Her gaze cut to Brent, full of challenge rather than the curiosity he’d seen before. “I’m better than a man.”- Brie to Brent

Brie Hamilton was at loose ends. Her latest job as a yacht deliverer was completed, but she didn't get her delivery on time bonus. With no jobs lined up, Brie is excited when Gus, her former mentor, recommends her for a captaincy position on a research/salvage vessel. But it's Brent Holloway that sets her heart afire and makes her soul sing...

“Oh, you offended pretty damn well.”
She gave him the back of her shoulder. Smooth and bronze from the sun, her flawless skin practically glowed. He leaned toward Gus.
“Look, I need a captain with experience, not a—”
“Not a what?”
She turned back around, showing him how poorly he’d kept his voice down. “You don’t think girls can drive boats?” -Brie Hamilton to Brent

Brent is eager to sign Gus on as captain, but is disappointed when Gus declines, due to health issues. Desperate to find a captain, at first Brent is hesitant to hire Brie, but something... Something unnamed, but felt soul deep, starts to smolder in Brent. Her eyes, her lips, her smile... Brie is his. Brie is his one. But Brie has strict rules regarding fraternization between crew and employer.

“You’re in here. I can barely tell where I end, and you begin” - Brent Calloway to Brie

But the instant, fiery attraction between Brent and Brie will not be denied. Stolen kisses, secret glances, forbidden touches; Brent and Brie struggle to maintain a level of professionalism .... And Donald, Brent's partner and longtime friend, isn't as oblivious to the heat between Brent and Brie as he pretends to be. Yes, Donald isn't what he pretends to be... At all.

Oh my! This story captured my attention from the first word! Steam was rolling off my kindle by the end of the first chapter! The sexual tension between Brent and Brie is phenomenal! Loved every sentence! Ellie Masters has done it again!

Brie Hamilton is a commercial boat captain who is introduced in the first book in the series Saving Ariel. After completing her latest contract she finds herself with some down time. Running into her old friend/ mentor at a bar she takes over a contract that he just had to cancel on for health reasons.

Brent Calloway is an archeologist looking for a sunken ship in the Keys. He needs a captain for his boat to assist his best friend Donald and him while they look for evidence uncovered by a recent hurricane. Brent has been working towards this for the better part of a decade and thinks they have finally located the wreckage.

The chemistry between Brie and Brent is instant but Brie is hesitant to act on anything while confined on the boat with Donald. It is important for her to maintain her professionalism. Stolen glances and kisses here and there finally lead Brent to let Donald know he is more than interested in Brie. Donald gives his blessing and provides some alone time for the two of them but Donald is hiding a secret.

A portion of the ship is found and they start to bring the findings on board but this is when the danger begins. Things happen to Brie and Brent and Donald's true colors are revealed.

I really liked but book but I would have loved to have learned more about Donald's motivation for turning on his best friend. The reasons are only alluded to and there is no real resolution to the question.

I received an advanced review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Treasure hunting and romance - a perfect combination

Strap in for Brent and Brie’s love story. It’s a swoony, exciting, scary, and beautiful roller coaster of a ride. The suspense starts slow, but the slow ratcheting up of the danger and inevitable conclusion is delicious perfection. Brent is an archeologist and he’s spent a decade securing the rights to salvage what he believes is a sunken Spanish ship. He has been helped by his best friend Donald. A recent hurricane moved enough sand around that Brent believes he will be successful in locating the sunken ship. Unfortunately or fortunately, the captain he hired cannot go due to health problems and he hires Brie at the last moment. It’s love at first sight for both of them. They’ll have to learn to accept their instant love, embrace their desires, and learn to trust each other in order to make it out of the danger they’re in and to their forever. I just loved the heartwarming, suspenseful, emotional roller coaster journey that is Brent and Brie’s HEA. The story is filled with witty and engaging characters, heart racing plot twists and a beautiful passion for love and belonging. While the bad guy in the story was fairly easy to guess, that did nothing to diminish the ratcheting up of the suspense or the enjoyment of the story. This book did a great job of balancing the romance with the suspense making both important and integral parts of the story. Ellie Masters is wonderful at crafting love stories that include alpha men, strong women, and romantic suspense.

Saving Brie is the second book in The One I Want series by Ellie Masters. It is a rerelease that was previously published as Brent. The book read as a complete standalone, but did introduce one of the characters for the next book in the series. When Brent Calloway’s boat captain backs out the night before a long scheduled treasure hunting ride, he is lucky to find Brie Hamilton who is willing to fill in last minute. The last thing he expects is the instant connection to Brie or that this planed treasure hunt could turn into so much more.

This was a really cute, quick and easy read. Even though there was instant attraction, it was still a bit of a slow burn. The writing was decent and the storyline interesting. Ellie actually had some really information about treasure hunting and archaeology in there which I really loved. I really liked Brie. You could tell she was used to getting a lot of crap for being in a male dominated profession and knew how to deal with it. Brent kind of came off as a whiny chauvinist at first, but he did tone it back as the story went on and grew on me a bit. This was my first Ellie Masters book and I’ll definitely give her another go!

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3.5)
Trope: Close proximity/instalove
Angst: 😰
Smexy: 🔥🔥

Brie is a boat captain who had to follow in the wake of Hurricane Julien with a yacht she was bringing from Rio to Tampa Bay. She was delayed a little further by rescuing 3 members of an oil well crew whose rig collapsed during the storm, with Aiden the crew boss, thanking her profusely and inviting her to his upcoming wedding with Ariel the helicopter pilot.. Because of the delays, she lost her bonus so was wondering what to do with her time for the next couple of weeks. She went to see her old mentor at a bar. Gus was explaining to Brent that he had cardiac issues and couldn't take his boat out the following day. Brent was upset and trying to get him to change his doctor's appointments, but Gus was adamant. Gus told Brent that he was lucky as Brie was a licensed boat captain. Of course with her looks, Brent was skeptical...but Gus said she was the best around. Was a small crew, just the Captain, Brent and his partner Donald and Brie would have to sign a NDA before details for the voyage were given. They strike a deal and the following morning they take off for the Keys...but all is not as it seems to be, so you will need to read this page turner to see what happens. I voluntarily read this book as an Advanced Reader Copy.

This book was amazing. I felt like I was on the boat with them! This book has a little bit of everything. Suspense, drama, action and of course romance. Not to mention, pirates and other forms of treachery. Brent Calloway meets Brie Hamilton under less than ideal conditions. He has his doubts about her abilities as a boat captain. She is determined to prove him wrong. He has a sunken treasure to fiend...he hopes, and doesn't want to take any chances of a mishap. After some discussion and contracts being signed, they get under way. Brent brings his best friend and business partner, Donald with them. The sparks between Brent and Brie are undeniable, even though they try to fight their mutual attraction. Brie is impressed and a little apprehensive about the amount of detail that goes into finding buried treasure. However, she is going to do whatever is asked of her to help. Jump into the pages of Saving Brie to find out if they get the HEA they deserve. Sorry, no spoilers. I received this ARC and here is my honest review.

This is book two in The One I Want Series and it is Brie and Brent's story and it is a must read. Brent is hopefully going to score the find of a lifetime on a shipwreck that is thought to be carrying a lot of gold, gems and other valuable items with his best friend but when the man that was going to captain the boat had to pull out because of his health Brent will now have to find someone else but what he wasn't expecting was for Gus to mention that he knows someone who could help him out but what happens next throws Brent for a loop. Brie has captained all types of boats for years and she was the one that rescued Aiden and his crew when there oil rig capsized during a hurricane and now she needs a job to make some money and this is where Brent comes in until he insults her so they are not off to a good start. Brie and Brent's chemistry is so hot that you can feel it sizzling of the pages of this book but as they are working together will they eventually give in to there attraction. There is danger and betrayal that they didn't see coming but will they get out alive and hopefully get a chance of being together only time will tell. Omg I absolutely loved this book and I couldn't put it down as it was so addictive that it keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what else would happen. Ellie Masters is an amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and her books are definitely worth reading.

Our hero is treasure hunter and our heroine is captain of the vessel on his latest hunt. Close quarters and unexpected peril will definitely affect their relationship.

This book is part of a five book series, but it is written as a standalone. No prior reading is required.

This is a romantic suspense story with treasure hunting at the core of the action. The story is very well written and easy to read with well developed and very likable characters. Both our hero and heroine are solid and well developed and having to deal with a difficult situation. I like that both characters are tough, smart and independent, but find that they might need a little help once in a while. There is plenty of action, so the story moves along at a good pace, as well as the occasional much needed steam. Overall, a highly enjoyable story and I look forward to more from this author.

Highly recommended.

This second story in the series is a stand alone, but if you read book one, you met Captain Brie Hamilton. The woman who saved Aiden Cole and his crew after a week at sea.
Now that her last contract has come to an end, she has two weeks off. Little did she know that when she met Brent Calloway in a bar, she would end up not only taking a job as his captain, but also end up falling in love.
But this new contract is unlike any others . Brie is joining Brent and his friend Donald who are salvage treasure hunters. This time millions of dollars are on the take.
In the midst of the adventure, danger ensues, loyalties are questioned and lives are at stake.
Will they survive to finally get their chance at love and happiness, or will it end before they have a chance.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Brie Hamilton is a ship captain who is hired to take others out on the sea, and now she has some downtime after finishing her last contract. Brent Calloway has been chasing sunken treasure for his entire career, and now the biggie is upon him but he loses his captain & needs one asap! This is when Brie gets hired by him, so off to sea they go. Now, these two have the sparks flying all over the ocean, but she's determined to keep it professional, however, it's only a matter of time. They finally find this sunken ship when things take a dangerous turn as crazy things start happening to Brent & Brie. It made for twists & turns coming in hot at this point which hit differently in this story because they're out to sea, so it's a tad harder to get away from the danger to be honest. So, to see how it all panned out, you know what to do as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I loved this book and thought it went well as a direct follow on from the last book, I especially loved the small glimpse of Aiden that we got right at the beginning which tied the 2 books together well.

Brie was a great character for me, I love it when women are given roles that you would traditionally associate with men. I also loved how she totally busted Brent when he doubted her abilities when they first met.

The instalove nature of the relationship was engaging and the story flowed well, making the sharp turn to Donald’s actions seem even more stark though the angst level was low it has to be said.

An interesting but relatively quick read, I thoroughly enjoyed this and can’t wait for the next book

Oh my!
Intriguing, unique and suspenseful, this installment takes us into the mysterious and exotic world of treasure hunting, high seas and the dangers that go along with it.
Brent is looking for the big score and Brie becomes part of it when she goes to work with him. Their attraction was instant, their chemistry was combustible but their passion is detoured by unexpected dangers. High seas, treasures to be discovered and betrayals create a compelling mix that had me totally enthralled by the story.
Things are not what they appear as they make discoveries they never imagined.
The story was so well written. The authors portrayed did an amazing job in detailing the world of treasure hunting. The characters were likable and relatable and this is the kind of story that I could see being made into a movie.

This is book 2 in the One I Want series and formerly titled Brent.

Treasure, pirates and some sizzle

Saving Brie is the second book in The One I Want series and is an entertaining book with an action packed story-line. The story is about Brie Hamilton and Brent Calloway. She is a commercial boat captain and he is an archeologist who is in need of a captain. Brent is hunting for a sunken ship in Florida's Keys and with a recent hurricane he and his partner Donald are that much closer. When the captain the men had hired has to bow out due to health issues they instead hire Brie, who was recommended by her friend and former mentor. There is an immediate attraction between Brie and Brent that is hotter than the noon day sun out on the water. But this story is more than just a regular romance as it is a great mix of drama, action, suspense, secrets, romance, sizzling smexy fun and even some pirates.

Ellie is a pretty new author to me and has very quickly become one of my very favorites. Saving Brie is the the second book In her series ( the one I want ) I cannot express how much I truly loved every single thing about this story . From the moment I opened the first page I was completely hooked and quickly falling for both Brie and Brents characters . The instant attraction and off the charts chemistry between them so so hot. Brie is a boat caption and Brent is searching for a captain to lead the voyage he is supposed to be heading on the next morning . I absolutely loved the development of their relationship, learning about each of their characters as their layers are slowly peeled back . This is a awesome story filled with intrigue, steam, so much chemistry, emotion and two wonderful lead heroines . I cannot recommend this book highly enough ❤️

Such a great book!! This really was excellent.
Brent and best friend Donald are treasure hunters and needed a boat captain fast. Brie got the job.
So dramatic and suspenseful but what got me was the knowledge that the author put into the story. This story was so involving and really placed me as the reader in the middle of all the action. There was no second guessing of what the characters were feeling either.
I loved the obvious chemistry both Brie and Brent held for each other from the very first page. It almost was instalove.
I can't really impress enough how great this book was and I for one can't wait to read more. Absolutely brilliant book!!!

Brie was introduced in the first book as the captain that saved Aiden and his crew. This is definitely a stand alone, though. You do not need to read the first to enjoy this one. Brie is hired by Brent to captain his yacht as he goes treasure hunting with his best friend. Brie and Brent fall in love while searching for the right spot for the sunken ship. The author gives us an immense amount of details about the yacht, diving and treasure hunting while writing a great romantic suspense book. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Instantaneous attraction....that's the only way to describe what arcs between Brent and Brie when they first meet. The stars aligned when these two were brought together. She needs a job and he needs a boat captain. Once again, Ellie Masters has given us an incredibly hot romance with a side of intrigue and some danger. Lots of anticipation and excitement as treasure hunting best friends try to find sunken treasure. But, for Brent and Brie the real find is each other. Even deceit and betrayal do not keep them from their HEA.

Great thriller/romance. Unusual setting on board a marine treasure hunting expedition off the Florida Keys. I particularly enjoyed the changing of traditional roles; Brie is the experienced sea captain who, against her better judgement, gets archaeologist Brent out of a bind when he is let down for his treasure hunting expedition. A great story with underwater exploration, Spanish gold, betrayal and the frisson of explosive chemistry between Brent & Brie. A must for those who like a bit more to their romantic novels beyond ‘boy meets girl’.

This book is FULL of action, beauty, and surprises! Ellie Masters is so descriptive you can almost feel the rocking of the vessel as you look out in your minds eye over the blue of the ocean as it meets the sky! What really amazes me is the detail of the events that take place above and below the ocean. Does she write from experience or is her research that in-depth? Regardless, this made for very interesting reading! I enjoyed the characters! Brent and Brie were fun getting to know! How a chance meeting and the needs of each fell into perfect order. "Right place, right time"!

"Chick" that's what Brent calls Brie when he first meets her. Nothing like that kind of introduction to start off on the right foot. Loved the innuendo discussions upon getting to know each other, they both give it their best shots, e.g., "how much, how long, or how big." Loved the description of what type of man that Brie is looking for, somewhere in the middle ... and then Brent's description of what he wants "for a forever of sunrises and sunsets." Just the right amount of intrigue, kept me turning the pages as fast as I could. Fabulous ending ... fishing!

Book two in The One I Want series is a stand alone story of Captain Brie (who you met in book one) and Brent, who is looking for a sunken treasure. The slow burn romance bursts into full heat. Add in the wild ride adventure and danger and this thrilling story has you nibbling your nails at the intrigue. The satisfying end with the HEA makes this a great read.

The second book in the series continues on where Saving Ariel left off with Brie's story, but it completely stands alone. She is the captain who rescued Aiden and his crew. In need of another job she is hired by Brent to help him and his friend with their hunt for sunken treasure. On their way to a happy end, they have to deal with instalust, betrayal and danger. In the end, there are quite a few loose ends which I would have liked to see resolved. But it is an enjoyable, quick and easy read.

Hunting treasure & finding love

I always look for forward to Ellie’s new releases! Brent and Brie’s story was absolutely amazing! Brie is a heroine that I so admire because she’s not afraid to get in there and get it done! The chemistry between these two is oh so hot from the very beginning and it was a joy to follow along on this nail biting adventure that they find themselves in. Ellie, you are amazing! Excellent job! Highly recommended

I have enjoyed the books I've read by Ellie Masters. Reading about finding treasure in an ocean was interesting. I could visualize it. It was made even better with a romance tied to it! It took a little time to figure out who the "bad" guy would be and that broke my heart. Loved the slow burn. The HEA made me laugh.

part of a good series
Brent meets Brie by accident. His friend Gus is supposed to pilot his boat but I'll health prevents this and Brie arrives on scene just at the right time to take over, but Brent dubious about hiring a female captain and his reaction is lukewarm. The treasure hunt must go ahead.
Donald, his friend and colleague, turns out to be a renegade, not to mention disturbed by the blossoming relationship between the couple.
Love, romance and desire, disloyalty, jealousy and treachery, all combine to make a decent read leading up to the expected HEA.
