I borrowed this in a fast loan from my local library, thinking I might take note of one or two recipes and then return it.

From page one, I dropped the book and ordered my own copy 😍

A truly handsome book to hold in your hands and simply enjoy the look & feel of it. The photographs are an absolute delight. Having followed Belinda’s Instagram posts since she began, I am enjoying once more her beautiful conversational style of writing. Not just a cookbook dear readers, but a gentle reflection on life. Sunday 10th May, My lumberjack cake, is a tribute to her mother - and indeed to all our mothers who nurtured us with love, wisdom, care & cooking. If you are searching for a Christmas or birthday gift, I suggest you buy this book. Mine is already marked with ribbons to remind me of what recipe to try out. Something that I really like are the very detailed recipes right down to possible problems that you may encounter and how to alleviate them. It is as if Belinda is working right alongside you in the kitchen. Thank you Belinda & Simon & Schuster.

I picked this book because I liked the idea of a cookbook based on the seasons especially for who, like me, lives in the southern hemisphere (i.e. we have summer produce, like tomatoes, in January). Unfortunately this turned out to be only an OK read for me. Too many hard to find ingredients most likely to be sourced overseas (in addition the recipes use in produce that are out of season for that particular month), not much substance in the narrative parts either (and I do like my cooking memoirs).
Sadly not what I was looking for. 1.5 stars

I was drawn to this cookbook by the photos.
Then inspired by the recipes, which are detailed but doable for a basic cook like myself.
I thought to myself, yes, I could do a new recipe every Sunday - branch out.
My first attempt will be the tomato, herb and goat's cheese tart in no-roll cheese pastry.
This does not fit in with the season, but the recipe is too tempting to wait until January.
