An Amazon exclusive! In this romantic comedy mystery, a young woman discovers that life is like an elevator--just be sure to get off on the right floor.
Hello. My name is Virginia, although I live in Georgia... Atlanta, to be precise. Two years ago I happily clutched my degree in Hospitality Management, smug with the knowledge that I would always have job security because no matter what, people would always travel, right? And then the pandemic happened. It's hard to complain about losing my job in the midst of so much tragedy, but it came on the heels of a bad breakup, and being partially abandoned by my jet-setting parents. I was shook.
Thank goodness the economy is starting to reopen, but because so many hotels have closed permanently, there are three people for every hospitality job available, and I don't have enough seniority to even warrant an interview. So when I heard of an opening at a historic hotel in Midtown that's allegedly haunted, I showed up in person to beg for the job. I naively told the eccentric owner I'd do anything... and that's how I wound up being an Elevator Girl.
What's an Elevator Girl? Stay tuned, friends, for the story. There are ghosts, an unsolved murder, and some of the most oddball guests imaginable. Oh, and the mind-bending secret I stumbled upon in the basement. In between I spend a LOT of time riding up and down, wondering where my life went wrong and how I can get off this ride._________________This ELEVATOR GIRL, Part 1 novella is a month's worth of daily segments: JULY
The Part 1 novella is JULY, Part 2 is AUGUST, Part 3 is SEPTEMBER, Part 4 is OCTOBER, Part 5 is NOVEMBER, part 6 is DECEMBER.

USA TODAY bestselling author Stephanie Bond was seven years deep into a systems engineering career and pursuing an MBA at night when an instructor remarked that she had a flair for writing and suggested that she submit to academic journals. But Stephanie, a voracious reader, was only interested in writing fiction–more specifically, romantic fiction.
Upon completing her master’s degree and with no formal training in writing (her undergraduate degree is in computer programming), she started writing a romance novel in her spare time. Two years later in 1995 she sold her first manuscript, a romantic comedy, to Harlequin Books.
In 1997, with ten sales under her belt to two publishers, Stephanie left her corporate job to write women’s romantic fiction full-time. In 2011,
Stephanie launched a self-publishing business. Since that time, she has sold more than 1 million copies of her own books. To-date, Stephanie has published over 70 novels and has over 6 million copies of her work in worldwide distribution in numerous languages and formats.
This was a fun first in the series! I had wondered how it was going to go with the ghost and now I can't wait to read the rest! The format is interesting for this series. I'm guessing each book will be a month's worth of chapters. Makes for a quick read (even for slow ebook readers like me!).
This is another cute daily serial by Stephanie Bond. Each chapter is a day and each book is a month. SO far it is enjoyable and interesting. Book Two will be the decider to see if Bond can keep the interest in her off beat character up. So far, the heroine is a likable young woman in a weird situation. If this is like her other serialized books they get better over time. SO this is a good start.
I have loved all previous “serials” written by this author and I am again amazed at the development of the story line and how quickly you are sucked in!!!
I'm writing about this serial as a whole. All six section feature a hotel employee, Virginia, who was laid off after the COVID-19 pandemic. To add salt to her wounds, Virginia has also caught her boyfriend cheating on her.
Desperate for work, Virginia takes a job at the fictional Coronado Hotel in Atlanta, which is being revived by the elderly son of the founder. The hotel was part of the 1970s party scene but has fallen on hard times over the past 50 years. But everything old is new again at the Coronado, even Virginia's job as an elevator operator.
Shortly after starting work, Virginia sees the ghost of a former elevator girl, Eloise, whose murder at the hotel was never solved. Virginia begins to poke around in the story, learning more about the case and drawing the ire of Atlanta Police detective, Jack Terry.
Then one day, Virginia discovers a portal to the past in the old frieght elevator leading directly to the hotel's Wayback Lounge in the basement. Soon Virginia is time traveling back and forth between 2021 and 1971.
Will Virginia's time travel help her solve the case of Eloise's murder that stumps the police? What do her headaches that she gets when traveling mean? And will she get stuck in 1971?
Elevator Girl is a fun but unrealistic cozy mystery. As an added bonus, Jack Terry of Body Movers series fame, appears in this story.
Recommend for cozy mystery fans who seek a modern angle.
This is that start of what promises to be a really good series but quite different from the series the author did in Graveyard Girl which itself was a really good series.
This one starts off with Virginia who has lost her job and her boyfriend. Even her parents have abandoned her so she needs to get a job and manages to get on in an old-style hotel. She's going to be the elevator girl, running the elevator for guests.
The elevator and her outfit, though, are basically out of the 1970's. So are the disco balls that the hotel runs.
Then to add more things to her need-to-adjust-to list, it seems there might be a woman ghost in the hotel. One dressed just like an elevator girl.
She starts digging things but takes time out to go to one of the disco balls.
Only to find out something rather major has seemed to happen.
A absolutely look forward to reading the rest of the series.
Virginia is a young woman the pandemic left jobless. The hospitality industry in Atlanta has three applicants for every open position.
She learns that a historic hotel in Midtown is hiring. During her interview, she assures the owner she is willing to take any position. He hires her as the Elevator Girl. Going up and down all day in an elevator may not seem like a career. But Virginia intends to be the best Elevator Girl she can be.
When she learns the hotel is haunted by an Elevator Girl murdered 40 years ago, she is determined to solve the murder.
Stephanie Bond has perfected the two-hour romance book series in 6 parts. It is funny, with a blend of romance and suspense. I couldn't wait to finish the entire series.
This is part 1 of 6 part daily serial, part one is July.
Loving the concept of this daily serial, “What's an Elevator Girl? Stay tuned, friends, for the story. There are ghosts, an unsolved murder, and some of the most oddball guests imaginable. Oh, and the mind-bending secret I stumbled upon in the basement. In between I spend a LOT of time riding up and down, wondering where my life went wrong and how I can get off this ride.”
I'm quite enjoying Elevator Girl, getting to know her and meeting all those that enter the elevator or in the hotel. Definitely a whole host of interesting characters. Already looking forward to seeing how this serial pans out.
I love that they are short, quick reads, heading straight into part 2 which is the month of August.
Virginia after being cheated on, finds herself out of a job. Living with friends what's a girl to do, pawning a few things is a temp fix for cash. Finally get a job at a old 70's vibe hotel, as an Elevator Girl, with lodging included it seems like a good start. Did I mention this hotel is slightly haunted.. Excellent read, this serial of off to a very mysterious start and that was only July. Can't wait to get August. I highly recommend this serial, with Stephanie Bond, you won't be disappointed.
Elevator Girl is a daily serial and each day from July through December unfolds a little at a time. Part 1 is July. This is a fun way to read a book. Virginia is down on her luck but finally gets a job as an Elevator Girl at the Corona Hotel which has a 70’s theme. She meets a ghost, Eloise who was a former Elevator Girl but who died in the hotel. Virginia is curious and begins to ask questions. This is an enjoyable serial.
I waited a few months to start getting my monthly books titled Elevator Girl purposely so I could read several months and it has not disappointed. Yikes !!! Virginia thought she was doing the smart thing by taking that elevator and arriving at the lounge via the back door but Oh my you will not believe what she steps into. Not spoiling it you must read to find out. A tad bit nervous about book 2 but moving on … Love Stephanie Bond and all her books .
I don't love the structure of these short series-style books but the story itself is very good so far. The main character is likable and you enjoy the journey she's taking, even if it's only up and down (sorry couldn't resist). I'm not usually one to enjoy stories with ghosts and time travel Stephanie Bond does a great job of intertwining the paranormal with a believable story. If you're looking for a quick, light read, give Elevator Girl a try!
An awesome read! I highly recommend this book n author!
This book sucks you in like Stephanie's others. It's a quick intriguing story that I couldn't put down 'til I was finished. The descriptions of the era is spot on. The story line and characters draw you in. Can't wait to delve into the next book in the series.
Stephanie Bond does a very nice job of setting up the characters, setting and situation. You are easily drawn into the story of a likable young woman trying to get her life back on track at a vintage 70’s hotel. Subplots abound to keep the read moving quickly. I was drawn in and am ready to start the next installment in this series.
And... I'm sucked into another serial by this author! I'm really loving these month by month stories. So much is packed into these pages. So far, this story has lived up to my expectations of not getting much done around the house because finding out more about the Coronado and how Eloise fits into everything is more engrossing. Oh well, the laundry will still be there later!
Short stories can be fun when done correctly. This is off to a good start. I loved the 70's. Great times were had. The clothes were fun. The decor....well it was loud. This storyline is fun but intriguing. Let's see what happened to Eloise.
Elevator girl is off to a great start. This novella is on par with Bond's other stories. The story line is engaging, and I am looking forward to part 2 of Virginia's adventures.
Another hit for Bond's "Girl" serials... This one takes me back to my childhood. It's a mystery, a ghost story, another damsel in distress. Even though Bond has a formula, it works. I've enjoyed them all and this one is no exception.
I have read several of Stephanie’s 6-part stories and have been entertained by all. Her writing flows smoothly and keeps me engrossed in the story. Her full length novels are just as entertaining. I can’t wait for the next installment.
I was drawn to the story because I'm old enough to remember getting into an elevator and having a person ask what floor for a living. It's a pleasant read and the characters are well drawn. Enjoy!
Very interesting! I’m so glad all 6 parts are available, because I’m dying to know what happens next. Virginia has just discovered she stepped back into time to 1971 when she got off the service elevator and entered the lounge.
What the heck?! Cool! Onto part 2 of 6 now!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This is only book 1 and can't wait for 2. I usually get bored or distracted by long detailed and drawn out stories. Your writing is to the point and captivating. I consider myself a hard read but not this.
I’m intrigued so far by the strange happenings in the Coronado Hotel. I’m curious to see where she takes the story and how all the pieces will eventually fit together. I always enjoy Stephanie Bond, and her serials are fun and quick reads. On to part 2!
Totally love this & can’t wait to start Part 2!! What a neat premise & if you love ghosts, murder mysteries & the 70’s, get out your mini skirt & settle in for a great story!!
The beginning of a new adventure is getting underway; mystery, ghosts, time travel, add jack Terry & you got yourself the beginning of a Stephanie Bond hootinanny.
