Max Frisch, insan varoluşunun temel meseleleri üstüne kurguladığı on dört soruşturmada düşünme edimini soru sorma eylemiyle kışkırtıyor: İçtenlikle yanıtlamak, kendi karşı-sorularını oluşturmak, esinlenmek serbest.

About the author

Max Rudolph Frisch was born in 1911 in Zurich; the son of Franz Bruno Frisch (an architect) and Karolina Bettina Frisch (née Wildermuth). After studying at the Realgymnasium in Zurich, he enrolled at the University of Zurich in 1930 and began studying German literature, but had to abandon due to financial problems after the death of his father in 1932. Instead, he started working as a journalist and columnist for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ), one of the major newspapers in Switzerland. With the NZZ he would entertain a lifelong ambivalent love-hate relationship, for his own views were in stark contrast to the conservative views promulgated by this newspaper. In 1933 he travelled through eastern and south-eastern Europe, and in 1935 he visited Germany for the first time.

Some of the major themes in his work are the search or loss of one's identity; guilt and innocence (the spiritual crisis of the modern world after Nietzsche proclaimed that "God is dead"); technological omnipotence (the human belief that everything was possible and technology allowed humans to control everything) versus fate (especially in Homo faber); and also Switzerland's idealized self-image as a tolerant democracy based on consensus — criticizing that as illusion and portraying people (and especially the Swiss) as being scared by their own liberty and being preoccupied mainly with controlling every part of their life.

Max Frisch was a political man, and many of his works make reference to (or, as in Jonas und sein Veteran, are centered around) political issues of the time.

In regard to the world situation, do you hope:
a.    that reason will prevail?
b.    that a miracle will occur?
c.    that everything will go on as before?

This wonderful and very unusual little book takes the form of a series of ten questionnaires that the great Swiss writer Max Frisch devised as a way of interrogating his own opinions and biases. Originally published in 1972 as part of his extensive journals (Tagebuch 1966-1971), it works especially well as a standalone piece, prompting wild hypotheses and speculative trains of thought from the reader, who might use any page in here as a basis for self-reflection, meditation, casual analysis or creative writing.

Some lines of questioning are open and philosophical:

…while others are quite specific:

VI.4.
If you meet a man in swimming trunks about whom you know nothing, how is it that after a few words (not about money) you know he is a rich man?

Some address political concerns:

IX.15.
Can you name a free country in which the rich are not in the minority, and can you explain why in such countries the majority always imagines itself to possess the power?

…and many reflect Frisch's specifically male preoccupations:

Although the format should by rights be very limiting, I found that many of the questions in here struck me as extraordinarily insightful. I was astonished to read the following, on a very specific issue that I've spent a lot of time thinking about:

If you live in a foreign country and find your own particular brand of humour never works, can you adjust to the need of keeping all your relationships on a serious level, or does this make you seem a stranger to yourself?

My god, I could write a thousand words on that one right now! For people who like mind-mapping exercises, Proustian questionnaires or similar imaginative prompts, this book offers a rather unusual example of the genre – but it also demands to be seen as a fascinating creative work in its own right. You can, if you wish, read the whole thing through in an hour or so; but most people will, I think, find at least a couple of pages in here that can be productively dwelt on for days on end. Without question, a stimulating little oddity.

Es waren einige gute Denkanstöße dabei, gerade die Fragebögen zu Freundschaft und dem Sterben/Tod gefielen mir sehr gut, aber der Großteil der Fragen richtet sich an Männer und Personen eher mittleren Alters. Für mich also ohne Relevanz.

ძალიან ძალიან უცნაური რამდენიმე საათი გავატარე ამ კითხვებთან ერთად.
პირველივე კითხვის წაკითხვისას გამიჩნდა ისეთი განცდა, როგორც კამიუს უცხოს კითხვისას (ამ ბოლო დროს ძალიან დავეჩვიე კამიუს :( ). როგორც აღვიქვი, რომ უცხო დამეხმარებოდა იმ შემთხვევაში, როდესაც დედა გარდამეცვლებოდა, ასე მოგნია, რომ ფრიშის ეს კითხვები დამეხმარება გარკვეულ კითხვებზე პასუხის წინასწარ ცოდნაში.
ვფიქრობ, რომ ეს კრებული მეორედაც, მესამედაც და მეოთხედაც უნდა წავიკითხო. პირველ რიგში იმიტომ, რომ იმ რამდენიმე თემას შეიცავს, რომლებზეც პასუხი არ მაქვს.. მეორე რიგში კი იმიტომ, რომ მაინტერესებს რა პასუხებს გავცემ ამ ყველაფერს ერთი, ხუთი ან ათი წლის შემდეგ.
არ ვიცი რამდენად ადეკვატურია ჩემი ხუთი ვარსვკლავი, მაგრამ მაინც! ვფიქრობ, რომ ეს კითხვები, ამ კითხვების უმეტესობაზე პასუხი, ან კითხვის გააზრება თუნდაც ვიღაცას მაინც გამოადგება ცხოვრებაში და გარკვეულ პროგრესს განაცდევინებს.

Momentan kann ich mit nur wenigen Fragen etwas anfangen. Sowieso richten sich die Fragen eher an mittelalte Männer, deren Reichtum auf Erbschaft beruht. Als Frau, vor allem mit erst Mitte 20, fand ich einige Fragen schon eher seltsam und teilweise sogar abstoßend.

Kendinizle yüzleşmeye hazır olduğunuzda, bu zihin açıcı soruları okuyup, eğer yapabilirseniz cevaplamaya davetlisiniz… Max Frisch’in kendisi de tüm soruların yanıtlayabilir sorular olduğunu iddia etmemiş, o yüzden çok da yüklenmeyin kendinize 😬

Frisch, Soruşturma I-II-III… şeklinde ilerleyen bölümlerde, aslında aşinası olduğumuz (evlilik, ölüm, para…) konuları seçiyor. Ancak seçtiği başlık ile ilgili, muhtemelen bugüne kadar üzerine düşünmeyi akıl etmediğimiz soruları soruyor.

Ben bu verimli “düşünceler alemine dalma eylemini” her gün 1-2 soruşturma okuyarak gerçekleştirdim. Tavsiye ederim.

Baştan sona sorulardan oluşan garip bir metin. Kurgu dışı metinler için farklı bir deneme olmuş. Başarılı bulduğumu söyleyebilirim. Art arda sorulan sorular insanı o soruşturma hakkında düşünmeye itiyor. Max Frisch ufuk açmak istemiş ve bunu günlükler isimli eserinde bulunan bu soruşturmalarıyla başarmış.

Çok kolay okunan ve bir anket gibi keyif veren bir okuma oldu. Böyle kitapları okumaktan her zaman mutlu olmuşumdur. 2019'da eklemelerle yapılan bu baskıda ise yazarın sonradan ortaya çıkarılan üç soruşturması daha var. Konuları, ahlak, alkol ve teknoloji.

Tavsiye ediyorum.

Yazarın ünlü kitaplarından önce de sonra da okunabilir.

Die Heteronormativität und rein männliche Perspektive verzeihe ich ihm, aber sie haben es nicht unbedingt leichter gemacht, sich von diesen Fragen immer angesprochen zu fühlen. Kluge Fragen sind durchaus dabei, aber manche waren mir auch zu suggestiv und/oder auf eine zynische Antwortweise ausgerichtet, sodass ich die Augen verdrehen musste und teils gelangweilt war.

მაქს ფრიშს აქვს ეს საოცარი უნდარი მსუბუქი საუბრის მანერით შეგითრიოს ღრმა ფილოსოფიაში სადაც საკუთარ აზრებშივე გაგბლანდავს და სწორედ ამ ლაბირინთიდან გამოსვლის დროს გზადაგზა პოულობ პასუხებს.

به فارسی آنوش عزیزی و با نام «اظهارنامه‌ها» خواندم. فریش معتقد است «هیچ یکپارچگی روایی ساختگی، این تکه‌پاره‌های جهان را به هم نمی‌چسباند.» پس طبیعی است که سراغ قالب اظهارنامه برود و آنها را تبدیل به یک فرم اصیل ادبی بکند. اظهارنامه در سیستم اداری خشک و منظم جامعه‌‌ی فریش، حضور مستمری دارد چون تو باید از طریق این اظهارنامه ها مکرر جزئیات زندگی‌ات را در اختیار اداره‌جات قرار بدهی‌

Das Konzept des Buches im Fragebogenformat fande ich interessant, hatte ich zuvor in dieser Art auch noch nicht gelesen. Die meisten Fragen - was glaube ich aber entweder an Frischs Haltung selbst oder die allgemeine Haltung der Gesellschaft war - richteten sich eher an die Männer. Häufig empfand ich einen negativ konnotierten Ton gegenüber Frauen.

Die Frage - Müssen wir das Frauengeschlecht überhaupt verstehen. Hmm, sorry but i hate Sexism.

Fragebogen eins war noch interessant aber dann kam das sexistische Meisterwerk das der zweite Fragebogen war.

Die Fragen lassen sich nur sinnvoll beantworten, wenn man eine reicher alter Mann ist, hetero, verheiratet und Vater.

Auch das Privileg trieft quasi aus jeder einzelnen Frage.

Sehr interessante (da öfters unübliche) Fragen und gute Gesprächsanregungen, z.B. zum Thema Freund*innenschaft.

Hätte ich ein wenig darauf gehört, wie entsetzt ich vor zwei Jahren über die (absolut inkompatiblen) Antworten eines neuen Bekannten war, hätte mir das einigen Herzschmerz erspart.🙈😅

Empfehlenswert also, um sich kennenzulernen und auch einfach zur Belustigung im Gespräch (z.B. Kapitel über Ehe, das mit aus der Zeit gefallenen Fragen amüsiert).

Eine umfangreiche Sammlung inspirierender Fragen, die dabei helfen, eigenen Positionen und Überzeugungen auszuloten, zu hinterfragen und ggf. zu korrigieren.
Wir haben Frischs Fragen oft im Freundeskreis besprochen, was stets zu angeregten Diskussionen und überraschenden Einblicken in den Gegenüber führte.
