A lot of elements in this book are not usually my thing. I'm not the kind of girl liking Alpha-holes. I don't fall for dark, brooding and handsome. I don't do bad guys. However, I have a weak spot for everything Hades and Persephone (although, if anyone can get me some recs where it's clearly Persephone being the dominant one in this relationship, that would make me very happy!). The first book was a lovely guilty pleasure, so I was quite happy when this arc landed in my mailbox.
Although this second book is in a way a typical second book, it never gets boring or it never feels slow. Yes, the characters are clearly being lead from the finale of the first book to the start of the third book. For a moment I was afraid we would end at the same point as the first book, but Klaus came up with an amazing twist and now I'm really excited about the next book, because it's quite clear that what will come now will be epic.
As someone who's not too much of a fan of watching established couples being cute together, I was quite happy that Klaus ended the first book the way she did. It meant that our main characters had to re-find each other in this book. Hades once more had to show our heroine that she really is the one he wants and that it is not just about the power or his realm. And our heroine once more has to learn how to understand the language of the closed off God.
That's not the only thing our heroine must learn though. Now she's free of the clutches of her mother, there is a whole wide world to be explored, but that world might be more dangerous that she thinks and she might not know and understand everything about herself yet. In a way this second book is mostly preparing our heroine for the epic finale, the epic finale where she clearly has to be a true heroine, not only saving her realm, but also the man she loves.
Book 2 has us on the edge of our seats even more than book 1!!!
We pretty much pick up right where we left off so there isn't much to rehash or catch up on. Kora insists that she gets a proper apology from Hades, who still doesn't understand why he needs to. Yet with a lot of frustration and false starts, we get somewhere and the road finally starts to smooth over. Demeter has hatched this diabolical plan with Samael, though he seems to benefit more from the deal and in fact, seems willing and able to sever it at any time. Persephone is a whole lotta trouble in this book but it is only once you reach the end that you realize the true extent of the damage. There are so many twists and turns in this book that you will never be bored and you'll be craving the next book by the end.
Kora and Hades do grow together as a couple more in this book. They both seem to be able to make reasonable growth and adjustments in character individually, which only makes them stronger when they do get on board with the "together" ideal. We finally get to see a more flirty Hades and it is so much fun to read. Kora does seem to become more confident and sure of herself by the end of the book. It is a great progression to see unfold, to be honest. This book definitely steams up and the relationship they have gets taken up another level.
The descriptions of both the underworld and aboveground are spectacular. You feel like you are in the middle of everything and there is an easy flow to the writing. This book definitely delivers a great story, fantastic plot, and clever re-imaging. Any fan of PNR, gods, witches, and magic will love this book for sure!
This book had me sat on the edge of my seat the entire time. As we see Kora grow more into her character and her making Hades apologise. We get to see some crazy twists throughout it all. With some steamy moments too as Kora and Hades fight to secure the fifth faction of hell. To then to such a crazy twisted cliffhanger ending to blow your socks off. Really need to know what's going to happen to them all
This is a continuation of Kora and Hades story. Kora finally found her freedom from her mother. She is, little by little, still discovering more about herself and her newly found abilities. Hades' groveling, omg! I highly enjoyed that. That was one thing I never saw coming. This whole twist with Persephone and Demeter absolutely crazy!! I'm totally loving this series!
Hades, Hades, Hades. Honestly, what are we gonna do with this guy. His ego is so big, I'm surprised he can even fit through a door but it's nice to see in this book that he is slowly changing and his and Kora's relationship grows. There's a whole lot going on in this book and they are being attacked from all sides.
I do love the growth of Kora in this book, she's becoming more as she grows as a character. Now she knows what's going on she isn't acting so weak. And the fact that she won't let Hades get away with not apologising to her is amusing, to say the least.
It's non-stop action and a real page-turner. This is another series by this author that I am absolutely loving.
This continues to be a unique version on the Hades and Persephone stories. Kora spends the books trying to figure out who she is, and who she is to Hades as well as trying to fight off the threat to their faction of Hell. The action - in and out the bedroom - is non-stop, and we get as many questions as we do answers. I'm looking forward to seeing how the tale ends!
I am loving this series and loving this take on Hades and Persephone’s romance. As with book one I was drawn into this incredible world immediately, an exciting world filled with adventure, deception, twists and turns to make your head spin and some steamy scenes that will make you blush! Truth, lies and betrayal and that ending, OMG, I need the next book ASAP please!
Thanks to our ever sinful Hades, Kota has finally learned the truth about herself. I find this slightly ironic since he is so adept at lying to her. Demeter is just as obsessive, controlling and as much of a crazy mother as she was in Book 1. Don’t worry she’s trying to step it up a notch. You will be on the edge of your seat throughout this book. It is so stinking good! Cannot wait for the next in the series
Really loved this second book. Hades is exactly as I expected! Who doesn't love that ego? The story picks up right where book one ended and I was drawn into the storyline. I loved the character developments, the steamy scenes and the drama. There's lots of world building that really adds to the story and plot. Bella Klaus has definitely done the mythology of Hades and Persephone justice in my opinion. I adored this book!
I was excited to read this addition to the series after the ending of book 1. I had issues with that book, but liked it for the most part. The ending - where Hades actually had Persephone the whole time - was a great cliffhanger and I wanted to see where that storyline went. This issue with this book was that the storyline fell really flat.
We quickly find out that Persephone is just a body (with no soul) and something awakened her into rampaging Hell. I feel like this would have been so much better if Persephone was actually a soul and went evil or something, the whole body/shell thing wasn't interesting to me and doesn't really make a ton of sense.
Also, the relationship between Hades and Kora digressed a lot in this, and when their issues were resolved I still didn't find their connection and "love" believable. A good 50% of the book is Kora being mad and Hades for lying to her about having Persephone's body. Then Hades keeps lying and it's a lot of back and forth. It honestly was boring and frustrating to have half the drama in this book be about miscommunications and lies. At the same time Kora is lying to Hades about some pretty important things she found out about herself, so it was incredibly hypocritical. I honestly liked both characters in the first book, but found myself uninterested and disliking them here.
I do understand that Kora was keeping secrets in part to make sure that Hades loved HER and not just because he thought she was Persephone, but it felt like this was drama already covered in the last book. Not to mention I didn't feel like Hades ever proved his love to her. He keeps lying to her and their relationship seemed purely physical. It got to the point where Hades sexual innuendoes were kind of gross and they were all he ever said to Kora if he wasn't lying to her or ordering her around. Then while sex was talked about a TON the only smut in this is like 2 occasions after 80% of the way through the book.
The writing in this was better than the first book by a lot, but there were still things that didn't connect for me. There are many things that felt off to me, but mainly there were weird things described in detail that weren't important, and then a lot that just sort of happened and seemed glossed over. For example, I know what Persephone and everyone was wearing at all times, but some important scenes were short and just kind of thrown out in a few sentences. At one point I remember Hades and Kora watching Persephone (through a camera or TV I think?) and she was sliding down a lava stream naked on a leaf? Um ok, odd? I don't know, I just think overall this writer isn't for me. I will not be continuing the series. I do seem to be in the minority with my review though, so maybe it's just me!
95% of this book was tedious and dull. I almost gave up on it and I was going to leave the series after I'd finished this book. However the final 5% piqued my interest to carry on to the third book.
However the juvenile terms during the dull sex scenes are grating beyond measure.
I just finished this book which is the second in the Blood Fire Saga: Hades and Persephone #2 series, and I had to hurry up and write my review. First, this book was as good as the first, and we are seeing Kora really get comfortable in her new position (heh!). She makes Hades run circles for forgiveness, but then her mother ramps up the evil. This book was well-written, had some really interesting reveals, we get to see more Persephone, and the ending just killed me. Now, I have to wait for the next book to see how Kora is going to get out of this. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Corrupted is the second book in Bella Klaus's Hades and Persephone romance series and things pick up where they left off with book one. The body of the real Persephone has apparently awakened and is going on a rampage. Kora is furious with Hades and things are quickly going from bad to worst between them. Kora is tired of the lies and Hades has some serious groveling to do. Can they work out their issues and come together to fight not just for those who need them in the 5th Faction of Hell, but for each other? They better! LOL! I absolutely enjoyed this book so much. I love that things pick up right where they left off with the first book and that there is so much going on. I appreciate that the author focuses more on the storyline with this series and less with the characters falling into bed every couple of chapters. It literally makes me so happy. Persephone is really posing a threat to Kora and Hades and I love how twisted this book is. The danger and how it just keeps elevating as they full come to understand the extent of what is going on. It's literally coming at them from all sides and I'm eating it up. For me, this book was so hard to put down. There isn't much that I didn't like about this book. I honestly didn't like Kora's attitude some of the time or her double standards with Hades and the lies/deceptions that they were both doing. On a level I understand Kora, but she needed to also understand Hades as well. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I have only one question: When is the next one coming out? LOL! I need to find out what happens next!! I'm rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I'm eager for more of the delicious devilry.
All I can say is the second book is a great middle point in the saga.
We learn so much more about Hades as an individual. His wants, his needs, his flaws, his strengths, desires, fears , and weaknesses.
Hades is truly, the anti hero who will melt your heart.
Kora, is strong, brave, intelligent, loyal, curious, and sensual and sensitive.
The second book reveals really well why she feels and thinks the way she does. It’s also breaks down her true story and what she is in this world. You can’t help but root for her by the final page.
Persephone, is such a mystery. The angst, the tragedy, the unknown.
I feel for her the most ironically, especially when by the end of this book between Kora POV , you can truly feel it must like to be from her POV, which I hope will be revealed in the third book.
The Villains- Goddess Demeter and her husband and the coven. Are revealed to be behind The Great Divide. Basically are some bad boss well written villains, who I’m fascinated by. Besides the historical/mythical concepts of the goddess of hearth and home being seen as being a helicopter parent/clingy/ crazy.
I really want to know why her hatred runs so deep. In this saga her angers puts Goddess’s Hera wrath to shame.
Zeus, basically has been wiped off the chess board…temporarily.
I’m eagerly looking forward to how she concludes the series and draws us in.
Because Bella writes her secondary characters so well I really wish and hopes she expands this universe of fractions that she created. From the angels/ demons to the gods/goddesses.
Hang on with this cliffhanger….our ride is not yet over.
There is no dull moment in Kora's life, especially not with her being the wife of Hades. The mischievous god full of lies, cunning, and seduction. Yet now her powers shall match his, and Kora is unwilling to simply fall for Hades' tricks and lies, demanding what was promised to her instead. And in the meanwhile they both have to face the dangers coming from Persephone on the loose and Demeter joining forces with Samael. I really enjoy Kora's character. She still has this trait of sweet innocence and naivety, living sheltered life until very recently, and now experiencing everything at crazy pace. She is growing fast, learning how to deal with underworld politics and scheming gods, while also mastering her own magic and finding a way how to make Hades do her bidding. I still haven't really found my way to Hades, with all his lies and one-way thinking, but he showed some promising progress in this book so maybe he'll eventually redeem himself in my eyes.
Another great book in the series! I was curious where the author was going to take the story after the shock ending and revelation in book 1, and I was not disappointed. Hades definitely had some grovelling to do and some trust to regain - Both Kora’s and mine! I was perhaps more sceptical than Kora of Hades’ intentions, particularly now we know who Kora is and her links to Persephone. There were times I was screaming at the pages for Hades to just understand and apologise!! He lied and deceived the woman he loves, a woman who has experienced nothing but lies and deceit from those who supposedly loved her before him, and he couldn’t understand why she was so hurt and mad??! Honestly! I did enjoy seeing their relationship begin to mend and Kora becoming stronger and more independent. Another cliff ending here and I cannot wait to see where the author takes us next! Gimme book 3!
Holy hades, this book was nonstop excitement, one after the other. There was so much action, heat and intensity, I couldn’t put it down. Kora is getting lost and confused in this new world she’s found herself in, that’s actually older than she knew. But between her mother, hades, and her old self, she can’t catch a break. Her mother will stop at seemingly nothing to regain control of her, and hades is beguiling and withdrawn, but also heartfelt and earnest. It’s beginning to give her whiplash while she tries to figure out what is truth and what is what, and who’s really on her side. When her mother makes a move nobody saw coming, she’s left with a choice that could be a lose/lose for all those she cares for.
Nope Nope Nope. Ugh! This is heartbreaking, why does this book have to be so awful. I used to Love Hades in Blood Fire Saga!
Cora is an awful main character. She’s so petty, immature, and naive. There is nothing likable about her except her best friend (if you know, you know). I feel like I am reading a sex education book when the sex scenes of the book occur. Just because Cora knows nothing about sex, does not mean we want narratives through her eyes during every random sex scene. It’s so so cringe worthy. Hades has zero personality as he did in Blood Fire Saga, he used to be witty, evil, and sexy. Nope. You don’t see a trace of his old personality. I am so bummed that this book is so awful. I had such high hopes.
I am so glad I am retired and can afford to spend days reading. This story is fascinating and adventurous. The characters draw out your emotions and the plot entices you to keep reading. There are cliffhangers galore that made me read well into the early morning hours. And, it has just the right spice without getting into BDSM so much. And, I kept googling things and people to reacquaint myself with the Greek gods/goddesses or to learn about new topics. Yes, I googled “naked sushi” and shared it with my husband, who had never heard of it before. My heart went on a roller coaster with the heroine due to Hades’ inconstant heart. Great series!
The plot twists are brilliant in this 2nd book in this series. Just when you think you've worked out what's going on the rug is pulled out from underneath you and your completely floored. That's what it felt like to me. Kora (FMC) and Hades are still feeling out their relationship together. Lying and apologies are a big problem to Kora. Kira is getting a grip on her powers and what she can do with them. She also seems to be growing more as a character. Plenty of steamy sexy times and action throughout this book. A knockout cliffhanger ending. This series just keeps getting better and better. I'm loving reading it so much
This trilogy is one of the best, most fun I’ve ever read. It completely makes me want to read ALL the Hades/Persephone twists, except it also doesn’t because there is absolutely no way the rest could be as good as this one.
This read kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It also manages to be hilarious and intriguing and I absolutely LOVE all of the plant details. (Also found myself constantly impressed by the author’s knowledge and the accuracy on this front.)
I’ll never be able to say enough about this read—it’s professionally edited as well without even so much as an over-used word or phrase. This author has some serious writing ability.
What a interesting turn events transpire in this story. This book was nonstop of excitement, one after the other. So much action, heat and intensity, that keep me hooked from beginning to end. I'm seriously starting to get totally obsessed with series. So many twists and turn especially with latest betrayal. I wonder what does this mean for her and Hades?? Overall a fantastic read. Can't wait for the next book in the series. As always my reviews are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
Book 2 in Klaus' Blood Fire Saga: Hades and Persephone series. This read picks up right where book 1 - Captured leaves off so this should not be read as a stand alone but rather in order. Well written and just as good as book 1. Completely captivating, full of action, excitement, twists and turns - ugh, such a good read! Smooth flowing storyline that will keep you glued page after page with amazing characters. The ending leaves you eagerly awaiting what's to come. I can't wait for book 3!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
I'm really loving the character development in this series, slowly but surely Hades is developing a little. Although, I'm not sure he'll ever get over his massive ego (it's part of the charm of reading his character.
This series so far has been pretty packed with all kinds of action and this book had me gripping the edge of my metaphorical seat in anticipation.
All I can say to our FMC is "hang in there" because I'm sure this ride is going to get more wild before it's over.
A great second book in the series and I'm eagerly awaiting the third!
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
We pick right back up where book one left off with Kora being royally angry at Hades for deceiving her all this time. While trying to deal with that there are still things going on that have to be dealt with as well as some trying to be sneaky causing problems. Add in a few surprise twists to really make it good all the way to the cliff hanger ending. Made for a fun captivating read as it all plays out. I cannot wait to see what happens next. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
I love the relationship between Hades and Kora. There are a lot of bumps as they travel through Hell and beyond. Now war is breaking out and they need to work together to overcome all that is going on.
Things are getting much spicier between them as well. Hades is a silver tongued monster. Much to the glory of Kora.
I am so addicted to this story. Stayed up late reading and now early in the morning ready to dig into book 3 which is also the final book in the series. Thank you Bella for another great story. Enjoy!
DNF’ed at like 65%. I just can’t. There are too many books to read. I LOATHE picking this back up. I hate Hades. I hate that Kora half heartedly fights with him. He is not apologetic at all. And I just don’t believe he “loves” her. When did that happen? I missed any bonding, emotional connection, or real getting to know you time that was spent with his face not between her legs. I am so annoyed by this romance that I can’t even focus on the stupid plot.
This second book takes kora on an adventure through hell and its factions. Meeting other rulers of the underworld and starting a life on her own. Its without a doubt her mother is the root if all evil in my book and Samuel is a slimy enemy that should never be trusted. Hades seems to be the good guy in all of this, but can k9ra really trust him with her heart. As the story unfolds kora finds out the truth of her past lives and its scary to see where this will all end.
What would you do if you found out your life was a lie? How would you decide what to do, when the man you've been seduced by us really the devil himself? The characters are lively, funny, sarcastic, the fights full of action, and the sex scenes are over the top. The description of the back drop are lacking, if you haven't read other series, such as the Mera and Valentine ones, you get a little lost in all the ins ans outs about the paranormal and human world, hell cats, etc.... Still luv the author and series.
