The scars are my mask and death my playground. They say I need to heal, that I need to move on.The pain must be part of the cure.BonesThey only see the scars. My scars serve as a reminder of the fucked up life I survived. The pain and physical deformities left me in misery, and you know what they say- misery loves company. I’ve spent most of my life alone, no one wanting to get close to the man that scares them.A monster in the dark. That is until I joined the Wings of Diablo MC. They don’t judge me based on my looks. They don’t ask questions about the pain I like to inflict on others. Instead, they made me the enforcer so I can do just that. I’m content with who I am, at ease, being the one that everyone cowers away from with just a glance. I’ve stopped caring about how people see me until I see the fear in Corrine’s eyes.I’m burying my latest kill when I come across her fighting for her life against a few Drift Demons. I don’t know her, but any enemy of the Drift Demons club is a friend of mine. Except, she doesn’t see me as a friend. She only sees the scars. She runs. I chase. Together we find ourselves in an impossible situation where our very survival depends on us working together. Slowly, the looks of fear turn to acceptance, then need.Every beast needs their beauty. And she’s mine.
Rae is a daydreamer, nurse, bookworm, nature enthusiast, wife, momma, animal activist and an optimist. She has lived her entire life in NYC and loves to travel with her family. She believes that sweets should have a larger piece of the nutritional pyramid and that Buffy the Vampire Slayer was one of the best TV shows ever invented. When she is not working as a nurse in her community, she can either be found reading, writing, or taking a walk while listening to music. She has been writing books in her mind for as long as she can remember but decided that maybe there were others out in the world that would find joy in the words she would put down on the page.
Bones was the enforcer for the Wings of Diablo MC and was the perfect man for the job. He has a crazy darkness about him. Corrine was trying to get her life going after the heartbreaking childhood she endured and about the time you think hers was the worst we find out that Bones was made into the man he is today from his beyond abusive childhood as well.
What a perfect MC book for those who can deal with darkness but opposite that is the light that Bones and Corrine find. It’s just that the path they had to get there was one crazy good story.
Review: Bones (Wings Of Diablo- New Orleans Chapter) Book 3. By: Rae B. Lake Stars: 5/5⭐️
THE SCARS ARE MY MASK AND DEATH MY PLAYGROUND. THEY SAY I NEED TO HEAL, THAT I NEED TO MOVE ON. THE PAIN MUST BE PART OF THE CURE.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I really enjoyed it. Even though I haven’t read books one and two in this series, it was really easy to pick up and understand what was going on. This is a fast past, full of mild steam and plenty of action that’s a standalone, but the whole series goes together.
Bones is a man who went through a bad childhood at the hands of his own mother and father. Then again with his adoptive parents. Covered in scars from his horrible upbringing, it has shaped him in to who he is today.
Corrine has been through a similar experience, like Bones she had been through abuse by her father. Through luck they meet and from there…. Check it out for your selfs!
I highly recommend this book to anyone who reads this review.
Corrine is running for her life when she runs into Bones. She if afraid of him as well and he understands her fear by the way he looks. Now they must work together to survive. What will happen when she sees past the scars and falls for Bones. Fast-paced MC read with loads of drama, chemistry and emotion. This action packed read has great characters with lots of depth and an entertaining story. I really liked it.
Bones is the enforcer for the MC and he takes care of his own. This is a dark & twisted book but I loved it. Corrine has just a bad a past as Bones. The question is can she see past the outside to the real man to make things work? I can’t wait for more from this author!
Omg! I love Bones and his twisted mind. Dark, twisted, drama, intense, suspense, ah-may-zingly good! It had ALL the check offs for me like all of Rae's book!
Scars aren't always as visible as the ones Bones carries. His physical scars strike fear in others, while the inner scars cause turmoil and pain to the point that he has no other means to purge them other than lashing out and causing others to feel his pain. They call him a monster, a beast, but they don't even know the half of it. Still, when seeing the pretty girl in trouble while dumping a former problem into the swamp, he can't help but get involved, especially since the guys she is fighting with are enemies of his club.
Corrine just wanted to have fun, and relax after a very stressful couple of weeks at her job. So when her best friend and roomie suggested they go out to the street races, she jumped in thinking it would be fun. The guys they meet up with, however charming they might have seemed at first, drug them and take them out to the marshes. Torrie and Corrine try to escape, but It ends badly, leaving Corrine trapped in the cellar of an abandoned farmhouse with a man some would call the Devil.
Both Bones and Corrine must expose their tragic histories and fight the elements for survival. Injuries and pain forge a relationship of trust that carries through until they are freed from their prison. Now, Bones must either hold her close, or let her go, and both options are killing him.
I have to say, I jumped into this series blindly. I haven't read any of the previous books, and find myself regretting it dearly. Not because I couldn't understand what was happening, but because this one was so enjoyable that I have to track the previous books, down.
This particular book is a fast read, and the plot moves very quickly once the character introduction is completed. There are also several different themes and stories that are being woven into the background, so pay attention if you are planning to read the series. While there are several tropes that are common to the genre, they are not treated in the common manner, nor made overly simple. Instead, our antihero and his companions are fully fleshed out and made more realistic despite the conception on these familiar themes. As a result, the story is unique and intriguing, and pulls the reader into the story bubble.
I would warn, however, the story deals graphically with torture, abuse, rape, and death. If you cannot deal with such things, then this book is not for you. That said, I don't believe that those elements detract from the book, but rather make the characters more realistic and sympathetic to the reader. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of the next story.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! This is book is part of the Wings of Diablo-New Orleans Chapter series why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series it won’t be a waste of time. Bones is this sexy man with physical scars from his childhood, but also, scars you can’t see that eat him up from the inside making him want to cause pain on inflect pain on others around him, he has been called a monster or beast more times than he cares to count, so the moment he sees a beautiful woman he helps despite him being a beast. Corrine’s friend talked her into going to the street races but the guys they went with were brutes/jerks, they drugged, and took them out to the marshes when they try to escape, she gets trapped in an abandoned farmhouse with a man who everyone calls a beast, and he looks the part. But being stuck with someone you either get to know them or you choose to be alone, Corrine and Bones realize they are stronger for each other thus forming a bond to fight for survival. For the first time Bones cares about how someone sees him, but will it be too much for her after they are rescued, will she stick around, what happens to her friend, will the men who did this get what’s coming to them and can they find happiness?
If you are looking for an MC with a good heart--this isn't the one. They are loyal to each other and the club. And they take care of their families. However, Bones is their enforcer, and a hard man he is with needs to get back at the life he lived and the torture he survived from the ones who should have taught him trust and love. The club has filled one part but with the scars inside and out love is not something he knows or says he even wants.
The blub gives a lot about the story. The scared man everyone turns away from finds himself stranded, hurt, with a beautiful woman who is as scarred on the inside as he is. At first, she turns from him. Together is their only possible salvation. Can she get past his looks and see the inside no one else knows?
For once it matters how someone feels when they look at him. She matters. Hurt and stranded he isn't the strong one. Will she get past his looks? If he helps her out will she come back for him? Is there a future for them?
While they have their personal story, the club is at war with another club. How will that turn out? Personally, it was a bit dark for me. However, a good story. I liked the couple and want to know more about the club so I plan to get the first two books as well. If you don't mind them dark and are an MC fan you will enjoy this and seek out more from this new to me author. Reviewed for Words Turn Me On
worth reading book 3 in the series, the up and coming new chapter of Wings of Diablo MC. The author has written the characters within the MC setting with references to the violence of the lifestyle, but as individuals and concentrates on their demons. Bones, horrendously scarred physically and mentally from the torment of his childhood. Enforcer for the MC and presently dealing with trying to find out information relating to various crimes against the MC from rival gang Drift Demons. Corinne, stressed in her job as a paralegal and her over zealous boss,. suffers nightmares which are also caused by the torment of her childhood. She meets Bones when trying to escape a dreadful encounter with members of the Drift Demons and they land ,literally, in the deep foundations of a dilapidated house. They both discover that they are able to be comfortable and find comfort with each other and Corinne is not scared by Bones's appearance. As he is badly injured, Corinne eventually manages to escape the confines of the foundations and gets help from his MC. Two tortured souls finding peace and harmony as their relationship develops.

Another great story by Rae B Lake in the Wings of Diablo NO series. Somehow I missed the 2nd book, so I will have to go back and read that one, but I have to say that parts of this story had me in my feels! This is the story of Bones and Corrine. Bones is the enforcer for the club who also happens to have a lot of scars and can kind of be a little scary at first. Corrine is just a regular person off the street who just so happened to spend the night with the wrong guy. Both Bones and Corrine had some messed-up childhoods and this is where I had tears.
Rae B Lake’s descriptions of their childhoods had me actually feeling like everything was happening to me. And her descriptions of some of the torture that was taking place, actually had me cringing – and I am not easily “cringed out”. For Bones and Corrine to be thrown together in a dire situation and the way they were able to come together and figure things out, this is what I love most. Lots of action, drama, tragedy, family and finding out who and what you can handle are just a few things you will get out of this story. I cannot wait to see what happens next! Wow, when i first started reading this i was amazed at the graphic picture Bones was painted. And i thought oh wow this Author has done a wonderful job of his description. Then we get a really graphic picture of how he kills the men....a bit gorey but heck i loved how detailed it was. Then for me came the part which i really loved the most. Where Bones and Corrine find each other, deep in the hole, absolutely great. I just loved how Bones finally gets someone and realises that someone can love him.
Wings of Diableo, the men are trying to find information on Shaynes cousin Tink who has been taken by the Rival Gang the Drift Demons. But they havnt had a break, till they find about the drag racing. Finally capturing someone Bones gets to do his stuff and finds out more information. But when he has hidden the body he hears a scream and finds that two girls are in the hands of Prospects for the Drift Demons. Corrine has gone out with her best friend . However the next morning after spending night with stangers they both find out soon that they have been drugged and that the men are prospects of the Drift Demons and they are about to be killed to get in the club.
This book is oh sooooo good. This author certainly has done a wonderful job of this book....5 plus stars
Oh Rae you about broke me with this book. So lets meet Bones from the WDNO Chapter. Now bones is one scary dude. He did not have it easy growing up. His parents are just evil and so were his foster parents. It was hard to read what he went through growing up. But you can see why he is the way he is. It is just sad because no one takes the time to know him or actually see him. Then we have Corrine who had a horrible father and has panic attacks due to the trauma she went through. Her story is just as sad. So when these two meet and are put in a situation, they actual see them for who they are. At first Corrine was terrified but once she got past the initial meet she saw him. They did get to know each other and help each other out. Bones is not sure what to think of it because he has never known any other emotion. So what does he do about it. Well not what we thought at first. Just to see them both struggle without each other was rough. But it all comes together in the end. That is until the package was dropped off. Now we must wait to see what is going to happen.
This was the first book for me by this author and I found this mc more realistic as Bones was sadistic but troubled. It definitely has some triggers, but it made it seem more real. He had a troubled past that shaped him into the killer he is today. He craves the pain he inflicts on others; he sees himself as nothing more than a monster, people stare and are afraid of his scars. Bones may be ruthless but at times when it comes to his brothers and their families, he shows hints of vulnerability and care. Corrine has also had a rough life growing up, she struggles with her fears, and when she finds herself in trouble Bones is there helping her even though she thinks he’s the trouble he’s running from. When they find themselves in a situation will Corrine see past Bones hard exterior and scars or will her fears never let her get to know the man that he can be? Will Bones be able to let someone in after seeing himself as nothing but a monster for so long and what will happen with the club next? I enjoyed this read and will go back to catch up then wait for Pirate’s story.
Poor Bones, he really had a past which was a nightmare, and the scars were inside and out. I wanted to take out people who couldn't hold back their reaction to something he couldn't control so yeah, despite the fact that he had some demons that needed to be fed when they got to be too much, I sure wanted to hug him more than once. As he's out taking care of MC business, he comes across Corrine, who is in her own danger at the moment from an enemy of his club, and he barely got to her in time but then she ran, and they ended up in a hole basically trying to survive, and he learns that she has serious demons of her own. As they're stuck together, Corrine shows him that he's more than a monster, and his scars are sexy to her, so finally, he finds someone who sees past them. However, there's still the danger stalking them, so will this enemy be found before taking out any other people with the MC?! This story was filled with a lot of action, angst, heat, and twists & turns coming in hot so it's not one you want to miss! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
A small disappointment for me. I was really excited about this book. Unfortunately I ended up not as satisfied as I thought I will be. This is an MC story. Bones is a MC member who had a rough past and it left him scarred and he thinks he only deserves pain. Corinne is a paralegal who has been through a traumatic event that left her being scared of small spaces. One day they both end up stranded in a collapsed house and they slowly start having feelings for each other, although Bones thinks he doesn’t deserve Cori, yet she stands firm and proves him that he deserve more than he thinks.
I have to say the second half of the book was very fast paced and it was really interesting. In my opinion the first half was kinda dragged and it didn’t bring anything to the story, I know it’s a part of the series, but still it could have been better connected with the storyline of Bones and Cori’s story.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Bones is the enforcer for the Wings of Diablo MC and is the perfect man for the job. This crazy man is covered in scars and clouded by darkness. People are not only scared of him but usually they try to avoid him.
Enter Corrine.... Corrine's backstory ached my heart, she endured things no child ever should. The fact both Corrine and Bones carry childhood ghosts is just one of the things that brings them closer together. While they were stuck in a closed proximity / awful situation I enjoyed how the relationship between these two grew. It was natural, raw with a side of sweet. Their story from start to HEA was such a ride! It was dark, twisted, action-packed, heartbreaking, suspenseful and a little heartwarming.
I really enjoyed this one and with the underlying storyline continuing in the series I can't wait to see what happens next!
Bones was set in a established universe that has a complex MC and lots of characters to contend with. I did not read the previous books in this series and while you don’t have to, I did find it difficult at times to follow who was who and what their roles were. Bones is a rough and scarred MC enforcer whose appearance tends to scare people off before they get to know the real him. Corrine is a young woman who has no previous knowledge or exposure to the MC life but gets sucked in by meeting the wrong people. The two don’t meet for a bit but once they do, they find themselves literally trapped together. I really liked the scenes where Bones and Corrine got to slowly bond and know the other one. They had a clear connection that went beyond physical and I thought that was super rewarding.
Bone was such a great story. I couldn't put it down. Bones is the enforcer for the Wings of Diablo, MC club in New Orleans. He has more scares on him and it was all from his own parents and his foster parents. They created a monster that loves giving bad people pain. He happens upon Corrine when the Drift Demons were getting ready to shoot her. But she takes off when Bones shoots the guy that killed her friend. This story is about two who had been hurt and then ends up together trapped in a broken down house's cellar. Two lonely, hurt, characters that end up helping each other. Very dark story but worth the read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Bones is book 3 in the Wings of Diablo MC (New Orleans) series. It is one of my favorites, and Bones is one of my favorite members of this MC. His past is beyond heartwrenching. What he survived during childhood and beyond is not something many could have endured and remained sane. His character is one that really grips you. The same can be said for Corrine. Her story is just sad. However, both of them have learned to survive, and despite their loneliness and deep need not to be tied to anyone, they are drawn to each other. Their love story is compelling and hopeful. Bones is a page-turner you will not want to put down with tons of action, suspense, and heated romance.

Scars aren't always visible for enforcer Bones they are both on the outside and in, hes a killer a monster in his mind, he lives for the fear he sees in others when they look at him until Corrine. She's in the run when she comes across Bones at first she afraid of him and his scars until they are in a situation that leads then to working close together, Bones sees the changes within Corrine as she learns to accept and love the man behind the beast. Well written twisting suspense filled with desires, action and more!

This was a new to me author and one I'd definitely be interested in reading more from in the future. This was exactly the kind of book that I love. It was dark, raw and gritty with no holds barred and once I started I couldn't look away. These two beautifully broken characters were perfect for each other. I'm a details person so would of loved a tiny bit more of their tragic backstories, but was just enough as is. Although this wasn't the first book of the series, I wasn't lost, but the hinted at storylines definitely intrigued me so I'll be going back to read the others. Definitely recommend for anyone after a graphic fast paced read. (That will always be me)
Bones has had a brutal childhood and bears the scars of that trauma. As a result he keeps everyone at a distance. Corrine also has had a rough childhood and suffers from PTSD related to it. The two of them find themselves in a precarious situation and have to rely on each other to survive. There are parts of the book that are gruesome and may be triggering to some (child abuse, rape and violence) but generally well done. There is a ton of action and a little steam at the end of the book. Looking forward to the next in series.

Bones and Corrine's story has so many great moments. A story if of two people that come together as they work to escape the horror of being trapped with no way out. With the scars that covers Bones, that alone seems to put the fear in people. As the enforcer of his club, it seems to be a good thing, but the man has scars that go much deeper. Corrine who is dealing with her owns demons, ends up in a bad situation. When she and Bones become trapped, they must work together to find their way out, and just might save each other in more ways than getting out of their trapped situation. **I was gifted "Bones" via Booksprout, leaving my review based on my reading.** 4.5 Stars!
This book is vile. So much violence, Bones is no hero!
I really can’t understand, what the author was thinking with this book. Bones is a serial killer. He enjoys torturing men and actively hunts for victims, so he feels better. Then he keeps one of their bones! 🤮🤮🤮🤮 This book is only 136 pages and 72 pages before he even meets Corrine. Most of the book is about Bones torturing people, and it goes into great detail! There is no great romance with Corrine and Bones. They just get together and that’s it.
I give up on this author. I didn’t want to read a horror, and that’s what this mostly is, Bones should have been a baddie that wasn’t in the Mc!
Everything about this book is fantastic! The characters, the setting, the plot, everything was superb and I read it in one sitting. I think this will be the first MC that I will have to reread. While this is a romance, it can also be triggering to some as it deals with some heavy topics such as abuse, fear of tight places and torture. For the first time, though, it felt like these served a purpose instead of just being included for shock value. Probably the best MC book I have read so far.

Darn, i love this series . It just keeps getting better and better with each new story line and book. It keeps you on your toes and totally invested in the relationships between the characters, Both Bones and Cori, have had it rough, from emotional, and physical abuse they have put theirselves back together piece by piece. They are held together by shear strength of their souls. They are together by accident but have stayed together by their forging love and understanding. They will fight not only for each other, but also for their family the Wings Of Diablo.
Bones has lived his life in the shadows. Childhood left him scarred, people are afraid of his looks. Corrie’s childhood was much the same, her parents were no better. Cori and her best friend Tori find themselves in the worst situation one night at a car race. The two girls both don’t escape with their lives. Can two broken pieces come together to rescue one another? Will the Wings all make it out alive or will the Drift Demons rise up and wipe the Wings of Diablo from the map!

Bone ( A Wings of Diablo MC Novel) and is book 3 in The New Orleans Chapter. It’s an almost dark beauty & the beast type story! As in Bones is a murderer/ the enforcer in his club and he likes what he does. He’s scared and he likes the fear he puts in people. Until on one job he comes across Corinne who appears to be an enemy of a ravel mc. At first Corinne is just as scared and runs but she soon comes to accept him. Things aren’t always as they seem and sometimes scars run deeper than surface level. All in all a good read.
