Etilidus is on the brink of chaos. King Warrick is missing, presumed dead. Queen Boudica is trapped with the enemy. The whole world thinks the rest of the royal family has been killed, as well as the final three Chosen. As Aiden and his siblings cope with the loss of their parents, Viv and Co have to try and rescue both Colin, Elissa's husband from the seiged city of Ettravil and their Uncle Bryton and his family from their estate. When they stumble across an ancient journal in the depths of a hidden library, they realize that this isn’t the first time the world has faced the Darkness--and the world was successful in defeating it that time. Now with a plan of action to find more journals in hopes the author depicted how they defeated it, the group must keep their mission and presence hidden as General Askos and his Chaos Cult continue to haunt their every move.
Can't wait for the final book! I love the adventure the magic and the strength in the female characters. Definitely need some more Aiden and Lyn time though!
I like the intensity of this book as there was more action and things became more detrimental. I was fairly confused anytime they started talking about the in-depth history of the kingdom, but not to the point where it detracted from the rest of the story. There is a lot of history, side characters, and locations to keep track of but it’s sporadic, so maybe it’s important to the story, but it isn’t flushed out enough for me to keep track of. There’s a lot competing for attention, and I’ve just chosen which parts I’m interested in.
