Grace Meyers is an author of beachy feel-good romances and women's contemporary fiction. She was born in the south, but has traveled a bit since then and now lives in a small coastal town.
This first part of the series was cute. So far it has just about every cliche you would see in this style of novel. I haven't come across too many editing errors and I'm interested in the characters. It's a nice light read.
“What’s worse, in your opinion, being thought of negatively, or not being thought of at all?”
Maggie Walker, widowed for a year, has been "summoned" to her late husband's family home to finish settling his will. Barely knowing her mother in law she finds a well off woman hurt by the choices her son had made. Maggie learns her late husband has purchased a house in Oregon and left it to her with the stipulation that she visits the fully furnished home before she decides to sell it.
When her closest friend LeAnne by her side will she or won't she? That's the question teasing us at the close of this first book.
I love Grace Meyers! Strong women in pretty believable situations. I love Maggie and might like LeAnne even. Looking forward to the story unfolding. Highly Recommended 5/5
[Disclaimer: I received this book from the author and voluntarily read and reviewed it]
It's a year since Maggie Walker's husband passed away. When she's called to settle the will, she doesn't know what she's going to find.
Imagine being left with a mother-in-law you barely know who is very wealthy but who has been hurt by some things her son chose to do in life.
Maggie is in this situation and seeks help from her friend LeAnne. I was glad they have each other. Especially in a situation like this, it's important to have support.
Strong women in a heartbreaking situation, I really enjoyed the first novel in the Cannon Beach series.
The location is beautiful but the gritty story makes you wonder what is going to happen. Family secrets and trying to work through a hard time are always plot points that interest me and I got through this quickly thanks to the relaxing pace of the writing.
Thanks to Grace Meyers for my ARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review. I am looking forward to the other books in the series.
The first in a series of six, this book sets the stage for what is to come. It is a quick read, but I could not put it down. Just as I got my bearings, another secret is revealed. Nothing is solved in this book, so we have to read the next, but it looks like there will be little downtime between books.
On the first anniversary of her husband’s death, she is contacted by her mother-in-law; apparently, there is more to her late husband's will! A short trip from San Diego to St Louis is arranged. The surprises, secrets, and mysteries that seem to surround her late husband’s family and so many things are locked up.
These books will be a fun summer series to read!
I received an advanced copy from the Author; this is my voluntary review.
What was the deal with James & the secret purchase in Cannon Beach? I can’t wait to see what Maggie & Leanne find at the house on the beach. This series is going to be my summer beach read.
Nice beginning to a new series. This was a quick read and very entertaining. Maggie is a fairly young widow who has just been summoned by her mother-in-law to come visit. It's been a year since her husband died and she thought the will had been taken care of and everything was in order. Turns out her wealthy in-laws weren't quite forthcoming with details. Now Maggie is off to St. Louis to find out what they've been keeping from her. Her in-laws weren't the only ones keeping secrets. Her husband had a few of his own and now Maggie has to deal with them. Very intriguing! Can't wait to see what she discovers. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it
Maggie's husband of 13 years James died 1 year ago. Maggie receives a letter from her Mother-in-law telling Maggie there were a couple of items in James' will that needed immedate attention so she should come at once to St Louis to settle things. Upon her arrival Maggie realizes James kept many secrets from her, one of them a house he bought in Cannon Beach, Oregon where he and his family spent summers when he was growing up. Maggie and her best friend Leanne set off for Oregon to look at the property but what other secrets will they discover. A fabulous book 1 of this series.
I was given this advanced copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.
This such a good read. I love the characters. Maggie and her unrest of her husband’s will leaving her a beautiful mansion that she was unaware that he owned. Her wonderful friend Leanne that is pushing her towards a better life. Then there is that handsome hunk of a neighbor that had been her deceased husbands best friend in younger days. The romance is heating between Maggie and William. What is up with the secret society that no one really wishes to talk about. Then her ex in-laws and their desire to purchase the beautiful mansion. Many twists and turns. This is probably the best series by Grace Meyers to date. And I’ve loved each of her previous. Must read.
Quick read with a good setting up of the background...but you need to read the next book in the series to find out what happens next! So many secrets abound and will they be found out as the series continues? Maggie has lost her husband a year ago and thought she had been given everything that applied to her from his Will. A surprise awaits Maggie when she is requested to travel and stay at her parent in laws house...so many secrets and will all be revealed? You will have to read the books to find out!
Received this as an ARC and it was perfect for a fun, light read !
Great start to a new series, a super quick read. The widow Maggie is called to the home of her in-laws to settle the final terms of her husband’s estate near the anniversary of his death. While not really on good terms, Maggie is shocked to learn of one of her husband’s secrets, and a secret purchase. Her mother-in-law seems to mean well as she fills Maggie in on the terms of the will. What surprise is in store for Maggie if she makes a mystery trip to Oregon?
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
This is book 1 of Grace Meyers new series. Margaret Walker (Maggie) is mourning the anniversary of her husband, James’ death 1 year ago. Maggie receives a letter from her Mother-in-Law about the completion finally of James’ will and Maggie is shocked. Wasn’t that completed months ago? Now Maggie finds out that her husband kept secrets from her since the day they were married! What other secrets was he keeping, Maggie finds out more when she flies to visit her Mother-in-law at her mansion. I received a free ARC copy for my honest and voluntary review.
This “series” is set in Cannon Beach and is Maggie’s story. It is broken up into six parts, but all together it tells the story of a woman, a widow, who inherits a house she didn’t know her husband had bought. Lots of story and good reading. The neighbor ends up being her late husband's best teenage friend, a hottie still, and these people are not spring chickens - they have life experience. I really enjoyed getting to know Maggie, her friends, James and his family, and William. It was refreshing to read a story where the characters weren’t all young and perfect.
Book 1 of 5 in this new series is an easy read. And ends leaving you wanting more. On the year anniversary of her husband's death, Maggie receives a letter from her mother in law. The letter requests Maggie to visit her inlaws for reading of her husband's will, which she thought had already happened. She finds out her husband kept secrets from her. Can't wait for the next book to find out what happens next. I received an ARC of this book to read and give a voluntary review.
I think Grace will have another great winner with this series. It starts off where Maggie's is burying the love of her life way too early. When the Will was read it seems she was not left too well off. Then on the anniversary of his death one year later she gets a call from her mother-in-law, which she never got along with very well and neither did her own son as he never visited especially in later years. Anyway her mother-in-law wanted her to come out for the reading of her husband's will. She thought they had already read the only will there was. It turns out he had another one that his mother has and Maggie knows nothing about, boy is Maggie in for the shock of her life!
I received this ARC book and willing gave my honest review of this book. I can't wait to see where this goes. I think it is going to be an exciting ride!
Maggie Walker lost her husband, James, a year ago. When she receives a letter from Mrs. Walker concerning James’ will, she’s surprised. She thought she’d received everything already. Not quite. James had a house in Cannon Beach, Oregon that Maggie had no clue about. What other secrets was James keeping. Grab your copy and see what happens. I’m looking forward to reading book two in this series.

Maggie receives a letter from her late husband’s mother. In it she invites her to come visit to finalize the last of her husband’s estate. She learns her husband bought a house in Cannon Beach Oregon. Loved when the elder Mrs. Walker wanted to have drinks with Maggie and let loose. More adventures to come. Great start to the new series.
I was given this advanced copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.
I enjoyed reading Book 1 in this new series. I was intrigued about the will that Mrs. Walker brought up in front of her daughter-in-law, Maggie. There appears to be a lot of interesting secrets in the Walker family and I look forward to learning about them. I also will enjoy learning more about James and why he was estranged from his family. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
A mysterious inheritance, a huge mansion, and a family filled with secrets.
The first book in what promises to be a great series! The story is well written and hard to put down once you start reading. Family secrets that seem to keep popping up adding intrigue and interest to the story line. The characters are realistic and easy to get to know. A perfect summer time read.

You think you know your spouse but do you really? Margaret (Maggie) learns some things about her late husband from his mother, Margaret, after James will has been read. Maggie was under the impression that the checking and savings accounts plus their condo which had been transferred to her name, was the extent of James' estate. A surprise letter from her mother-in-law ended that thought. This is the first in a series of books.
Well, the mystery is just beginning. Maggie ‘s husband, James , had died the year before. Maggie had a call from James’s mother, who was also Margret. She told Maggie to come to their house p, that James’s Will had been settled and she needed to go over some things with her. James had bought a house in Cannon Beach , Oregon, which she knew nothing about. Maggie had to go see the house before she could sell it. This continues to book 2.
This series started with a bang. There are so many questions at the end of this short read that my mind is a whirlwind of what-ifs for Maggie, the widow and it is perfect. What will she discover when she meets with her in-laws? What are her late husband's secrets that leave her vulnerable?
Craziness awaits Can on Beach! In the forum of Leanne
As crazy as it sounds, Cannon Beach can be quite an adventure. James sounds like quite a strange character. What kind of secrets was he keeping from his wife.?
This short story is well written and filled with just enough suspension to hold your attention. The pages flew by and I was so surprised when I turned the last page! I am looking forward to the next book!
This author has quickly become one of my favorites. Great story about families and the secrets they hide. I can’t wait to see what is revealed in the next one!
Loved the characters , this book just had an easy flow right from the start. I couldn't put it down . I'm on to the next book and see what Maggie does next .
