I love this series so far (here comes the but), but I thought this story was a little similar to another that I've read from this author. Don't get me wrong, this was a lovely sexy cowboy story, and I did enjoy reading it. The ending of this story was like the very end of Casablanca, although Tyler would return to her love in 2 weeks. Loved it! 5☆

Sometimes you read a book and wonder…Where did that title come from? You know what I mean. The title doesn’t seem to have much to do with the storyline. But not in this book. Should’ve Been a Cowboy is a perfect title for this June Blaze by Vicki Lewis Thompson.
Should’ve Been a Cowboy is the fourth book in the Sons of Chance series. This story “stars” Alex Keller (brother of Josie, wife of Jack Chance) and Tyler O’Connelli (sister of Morgan, wife of Gabe Chance.) When we last saw Tyler and Alex, both were participants in Morgan and Gabe’s wedding…Alex as the hot DJ from Chicago and Tyler as the Maid of Honor on vacation from her glamorous job on a cruise ship. The wedding is over but Alex and Tyler can’t keep their eyes off each other. We leave them at the end of that book with a bottle of champagne and a climb up a ladder into the hayloft. Of course we (the readers) don’t ever forget a potentially hot couple and with this book, Ms. Thompson delivers that sexually charged relationship we (the readers) knew was just arcing between Alex and Tyler.
It’s been quite a year since then. Alex has permanently settled in Jackson Hole and taken a job as Marketing Director for the Last Chance Ranch. While Alex does have a degree in Marketing, this job is his first real marketing position, which makes the pressure twofold…first to prove to himself that he can do this and second, since his sister has married into the Chance Family, to contribute to improving the ranch’s bottom line. Being a total city guy, he was surprised at how very much he loves the ranch, the outdoors and even being on the back of a horse.
During that year, Morgan had gotten pregnant. Her sister, Tyler, comes in for a short vacation before she leaves on a major cruise. Additionally Tyler is up for a promotion to Cruise Director, a position she’s aspired to. Nothing, especially not a guy, is going to hold her land-locked.
Neither Tyler or Alex have forgotten, nor gotten over, that night in the hayloft. The arching attraction is still there. But both decide to ignore it. Tyler, because she’s here to be with her sister and Alex because his big marketing open house at the ranch just got a huge money wrench thrown into the plans.
The story steams with sensuality. For a fun, fast, sexy read, you can’t ever fail with a Vicki Lewis Thompson book. Enjoy!

This was suppose to be a sequel to Chance Brothers but came out as a reunion thing. The many characters from the previous books were rather unnecessary and pretty much useless.
Tyler is Morgan's sister, she met Alex previously in book #3 at Morgan and Gabe's wedding. Alex is Josie's brother (Josie is Jack's wife), and FYI Gabe and Jack are brothers. Still with me so far??? They hooked up that night (Tyler and Alex, that is) and this is the story of them picking up where things were left off.
Non existence story line with boring dialogs and a bunch of happy people going ecstatic about having babies and falling in love. Loved the HOT cover though.

My Review:
I am not usually a big fan of these shorter novels, but I really enjoyed this one. It didn't read like a shorter novel at all. Tyler & Alex hooked up at her sister's wedding 10 months prior to when this book takes place. It was a passionate afternoon in the hayloft- a one time thing that has haunted both Alex & Tyler. Neither one ever tried to re-connect though so you can imagine their surprise when Tyler comes to visit her sister and they discover that their passion is burning even stronger than before. They both realize that there's a good possibility for feelings to develop so they make an agreement to keep things on a purely physical level. Tyler lives on a cruise ship and is on the verge of a huge promotion. Alex's life is on the Wyoming ranch with the large family that involves.
The story and character development in this book was really well-done and natural. This is book #4 in this series (although you absolutely do not need to have read the other 3- I haven't read them) so all the characters (and there are a lot of them) and setting are really well-defined. The whole thing flows really easily and naturally. Once I started reading, I could not put it down.
The chemistry between Tyler & Alex is nothing short of sizzling. The scenes between these two are totally hot. I loved their abandon and almost-desperation to get to each other. There is one scene where they are taking showers- separately- I am not going to give anything away, but YOWZA! These two have an amazing passion between them!
I really loved Alex's character. He grew up in Chicago and is a recent transplant to the ranch in Wyoming. He has easily stepped into the sexy-cowboy role...from his chivalrous attitude (he absolutely puts Tyler first all the time) to his gorgeous Stetson. You even get a little insight into his amazing relationship with his horse. He loves the ranch life and the families living there. You can't help but to fall in love with him and his little hopes and dreams that he's starting to develop for himself and his place on the ranch.
I didn't like Tyler's character quite as much. There were times when she ran completely hot and cold as to how much her career and other life mean to her. She has moments where she totally flip-flops within a couple of paragraphs. But you know, she's a female and there are times in life when we are all that way. ;o)
My only other complaint is that this book took place over what is really only a 2-day period. I find it hard to believe that anyone would actually give up their whole lifestyle based upon 2 days of incredible passion, but I guess that is the fantasy of a fiction novel. There's so much going on and Vicki Lewis Thompson has written it so fluidly and easily that you truly don't realize the fact that it's only 2 days until you step back and look at the events.
This is really a fun and entertaining novel. I enjoyed it immensely and was totally inspired by the passion between Tyler & Alex. A great afternoon's read... oh, and did you see that gorgeous cover up there?!? That alone is worth the price of the book. ;o) Add to that, it's a great book and you know, you need to add this one to your TBR pile!

This is an interesting take on how a city slicker from Chicago who worked as a DJ morphs into a Wyoming Cowboy and stays to work on The Last Chance Ranch. Decent plot and backstory on the extended Chase family, as Alex Keller is Josie's brother, and she is married to Jack Chase the eldest son of the Chase brothers. I still love reading about the lush scenery, and the sacred rock there on the Chase Ranch.
Alex had come to Wyoming to visit with his sister Josie after his bitter divorce. He is Josie's older brother and very protective of her. While visiting her the towns people or woman take notice of the sandy blonde, tall, and good looking man who wears chinos and sticks out from the Cowboys there. Flashback to "Claimed" when Alex has a run in with Jack who is now his brother inlaw, picks up a job as the DJ for Gabe's wedding, and has a literal roll in the hay with Gabe's sister inlaw Tyler. Alex chalks this evening up to great sex, but he has never quite forgotten Tyler.
One day Tyler comes to the Ranch almost a year later to visit with her sister Morgan, who is pregnant, and she runs into Alex in the kitchen. She soon discovers that Alex has been hired by the Chase family as their public relations officer and is getting ready to set up an event for fund raising. Alex lives at the Chase Ranch, and he now looks and acts like he has always fit in there. Tyler and he start talking and soon they both realize the attraction they shared that one evening is still there, so Tyler agrees to help Alex pull together entertainment and get prepared for the fundraiser that the Chase Ranch is getting ready to have. Before they both know it, they are both all over each other and the flames of passion ignite.
Tyler is an activities director for a Cruise ship and is up for a big promotion, but upon resuming her relationship with Alex, she decides that Jackson Hole and the small town of Shashone could use an "Events Planner" and she is seriously thinking of starting a business there, b she also wants to have a real relationship with Alex, but he is still feeling the burn from his divorce, so he is trying to make his time with Tyler only about great sex. After Alex insults Tyler, and Morgan has had the baby, Tyler decides to fly back and leave to go back to her Cruise ship and resume the life that she knows.
Shortly after Tyler departs from the Ranch, and seeing how happy his sister is, and the other Chase brothers, along with the addition of a new baby to the Ranch, Alex begins to want what he always has yearned for...a wife, a real home, and children. He decides to throw caution to the wind and he flys off to see Tyler at the ships port before she leaves. He sees her, and they agree she will train someone and meet him in a port of call overseas when the time is right, so that they can be together.
It was nice to see Alex really become apart of the Chase Ranch and to find love again. Now he is literally a member of the family and will one day be able to build a home for him and Tyler upon Chase land.
Hot Cowboys and sexing with a HEA are always good.

Tyler O’Cannelli is an events coordinator, on her way to the top, for a major cruise line. When she takes a short leave to visit her expecting sister on the family ranch, Last Chance, and sees the hot city-slicker turned sexy cowboy that she had one wild night with, her perfectly planned little world is turned upside down.
Starting a sensual journey with this cowboy was suppose to be purely sex, but when feelings start to come into play can these two lovers from opposite worlds find a middle ground to build on?
Should’ve been a Cowboy is a hot & sexy wild romp in the west. I loved how even though this was the forth book in a series I was able to jump into it with no problems. The setting of Last Chance Ranch was detailed and intriguing; a horse ranch that gives a home to any and all animals in need trying to make it financially after the head cowboy passes away. Throw in sexy cowboys, sassy women and match making mamas and you have one great read!
I loved the main characters of Tyler and Alex. Each was rich and unique in their own way, strong and full of love. Their relationship was fiery, erotic and oh so hawt! Their romance and the plot moved at a quick but believable pace, making the 220+ book fly by and keeping me glued to every page. The secondary characters were intriguing and I will be picking up past and future books in this series to find out more about them!
A great read that I would recommend to anyone who likes a good cotemporary romance staring a cast of sexy men in tight fitting jeans, Stetsons and boots! Deserving of this swoon worthy cover!

I didn't realize I had another from this series. I wonder if the first two are buried in my TBR bin.
The greatest issue with it seems to be the absolute lack of willpower on anyone's part. In this one, the H and the h are both saying they'll keep their hands to themselves, then 10 minutes later, he's cornered her in a barn and about to score - at least, until they figure out they have no protection and she decides it's an omen. Of course, her conviction lasts about as long as him telling her there's no mud room (at a working ranch? Riiiiight) so they go back into the barn and do everything but. An hour or so later, they're going at it in a truck, then 15 minutes or so later, on a rock.
All the while telling themselves - and each other - that this isn't serious because she's going back to work on Wednesday - she's up for a promotion with a cruise line.
Her sister gave her a speech which at least got her head out of her hormones.
She came up with an idea to stay in bumblefart nowhere and told him right after her sister gave birth. Since she'd spent all their time together reminding him she was leaving, he told her she was nuts and all but shoved her out the door.
Some cowboy she'd barely met told him off about the whole deal, which made me raise an eyebrow as said cowboy apparently had no issues with his boss treated women. He sends the h a text message, they meet before she goes off on a cruise, she tells him to give her 2 weeks to train a replacement. HEA.

This book,like the rest in this series was fantastic! A ranch that specializes in Paint horses,this place is also a small B&B.Alex,the Cowboy who is not a Chance,but rather adopted as a brother of them,is in charge of the Open House to show off the horses.Tyler,his sister in law’s sister came to see it and also be with her sister during her last stages of pregnancy.Of course they have a past,and may want to rekindle it,but are leery of doing so.But,as they soon find out,the heart wants what the heart wants!Do they take the plunge? Does Tyler leave her job as cruise director on a cruise ship? Does Alex find the Chance luck?Sorry,but you’ll have to read it to find out.My only complaint is that I wanted the book to go on and on,not stopping,as I didn’t want it to be done!
So please,do yourself a favor and read this latest(to me) book about the Chance brothers and their friends.I’m sure you’ll like it as well!

So Alex is so tied to her career that she's not in to land legs and Tyler is so busy convincing himself that he's not good at being in a relationship that they both get hit by a brick wall when their attraction is still lingering and emotions stir up. It was good to see that they'd matured in some areas, they were both overwhelmed by their sizzling attraction and it was entertaining and sometimes a little hilarious to see them fumble as they tumble right into love. I didn't even want it to end. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the first book I have read by Vickie Lewis Thompson. I will certainly read more of her books . For those who like a good clean romance, I think you would enjoy this story.

Reread! Tyler and Alex had amazing chemistry, but they knew that couldn’t turn into anything permanent. Tyler was on course to get a big promotion, and nothing was going to derail her. Except Alex that is. Alex wasn’t raised a Cowboy, but adopted the life when he moved to town. Great story.

Fourth in the Sons of Chance western romance series and revolving around the ranching Chance family in the Jackson Hole region in Wyoming. The couple focus is on Tyler O'Connelli and Alex Keller.
My Take
It's cute as per Lewis' usual, although there is quite the emphasis on sex in this one compared to the others.
The prologue gives us some background on how the Chance family segued into the cutting horse market while Lewis gets around the insta-love trope by with Alex and Tyler already having had an encounter.
Should've Been a Cowboy is sweet and cozy with a supportive family that takes things in stride. They're also protective of anyone they consider family. And Sarah is a fabulous role model. Only one of the Chance sons is hers by blood, and she considers all three of them her boys.
It's an interesting career for Tyler. One that makes up for, in her mind, her parents' vagabond hippy lifestyle of hand-me-down clothes and no concern for appearances. She and her sister do, however, appreciate that the values they learned from their parents are good ones. Tyler simply wants to look nicer these days, lol. I hear that! Pretty clothes and a trip to the beauty salon are nice treats!
The alternative ideas Tyler cooks up for herself are great, although I do have to wonder how well they'd go over in the real world. Thank god for fiction, lol.
Naturally there are conflicts. Some are realistic and others are a bit too manufactured for my taste, but it does get the "job" done. It's nice that Alex is so understanding and supportive, but it's too bad their communication skills are so messed up.

Sarah Chance is the matriarch; she had married Jonathan who died recently. Josie Keller, Alex's sister, married Jack Chance, the oldest son. Josie owns a haunted bar in town, Spirits and Spurs. Gabe is married to the eight-month pregnant Morgan, who's into real estate. Nick is married to Dominique, a photographer. Butch and Sundance are the Chance dogs. Gold Rush had been Jonathan's paint.

Wow, another Vicki Lewis Thompson book. I'm apparently on a cowboy kick. Which is a totally awesome thing. I haven't given cowboys the love that they deserve. The Stetson's, the boots, the tight butt showcasing jeans, the easy access snap button western shirts. *sigh* Ms. Thompson, you've once again made me put the book down and run to take a cold shower. This book, like the last one, is HOT, HOT, HOT! Like melt your panties hot (if panties could melt, edibles don't count).
Top 5 Reasons To Read This Book:
1. Alex Keller. Can I have multiple book boyfriends? If so, he's the latest in my harem. This guy has legitimate trust issues. He's not willing to give his heart out to anyone since getting cheated on by his ex-wife Crystal. After a tumble in the hayloft with Tyler O'Connelli 10 months ago, she's all he can think of. A second chance with Tyler has him a bit confused and a lot in lust with her. He's one tough and broken cowboy who needs the right woman to capture his heart and give him the second chance he deserves.
2. Tyler O'Connelli. Her sister has found love and is about to have a baby. She decides to visit for a few days not knowing Alex is actually living at the Last Chance Ranch. Surprise! The first glimpse of Alex Keller's butt brings back memories of hayloft sex. She's about to get a promotion that she's been working for for a while. She keeps telling herself that she's here to visit her sister and then she's off to see the world again. She's tough, independent and wanderlust is in her blood thanks to her hippie parents. I was anxious for this story after finishing the previous in the series. I'm glad VLT decided to write it. My review contains mild plot spoilers. Read on at your own risk.
Alex and Tyler shared a passionate night together at the wedding of his sister, who was marrying into the same family Tyler's sister had. As an activities director on a cruise ship, Tyler doesn't have much opportunity for relations with the opposite sex. She figures she'll see Alex again after their night - they are related through marriage, after all - but she isn't worried about it. Having a one off isn't that big a deal to either of them, especially since Alex is recovering from a divorce.
10 months go by before they're reunited and both are surprised to find that they haven't been able to forget the other. If circumstances were different, they might even consider trying to build a relationship. As it stands, Tyler is up for a major promotion and getting ready to set sail on a world cruise. She isn't interested in settling down on a ranch in the middle of Wyoming.
Although the longer she spends with Alex and the rest of the Chance family, the more she questions her desire to continue being a world traveler. But is Alex willing to commit if she sticks around? And is she willing to stick around if he's not?
I have to take this story in two parts. 1) the romance. I think the romance worked very well. The connection between Alex and Tyler is well established going into the story, so the small page count doesn't hurt it. Their decision to keep it light was obviously doomed to failure - both had their emotions engaged early on. I felt the connection between them and enjoyed it.
The second part of this was less easy to like. Tyler's focus on her career really played a large part in the story. It was the main conflict that kept them apart and the whole reason they resisted entering into a deeper relationship. And yet Tyler decides, rather unexpectedly, that she'd like to settle down after all and perhaps become the marketing director for the town. A position that doesn't even exist. There was no talk of Alex taking a position on the cruise ship - something he was qualified for with a communications and DJ background - or of them working on something long distance so that Tyler wouldn't have to give up her career.
That in and of itself wouldn't have been such a big deal, but once she mentions her plan to Alex and he vetoes it (because he thinks she deserves more) that's it..she gives it up. It was obvious her only reason for staying was because of Alex. I can understand him being a consideration, but to give up a life long dream and a career, I felt she needed to do it for a better reason than a man.
While I enjoyed the romance, the fact that all the give was done on Tyler's part really brought the story down for me.

What do you do when you come face to face with that one person that “fills up your senses”? Grab you chance at love and never let go!!
Welcome back to Jackson Hole, Wyoming and the beautiful Last Chance ranch. Amazing storyteller Vicki Lewis Thompson has answered the pleas of her fans by writing Alex and Tyler’s story. When we last met Alex and Tyler they were literally hooking up after an incredible double wedding in Claimed!.
What was supposed to be a one night stand in the hayloft has left an indelible impression on both Alex and Tyler. The pending blessed event of Morgan and Gabe’s baby has brought Tyler back to the ranch and back into Alex’s thoughts. Little does he realize, she never left his heart.
Will Alex be able to have Tyler back in his arms for a few days and then watch her walk away again to fulfill a lifelong career opportunity or will the infamous Chance luck make a way for them both to have it all and each other?
In the timeless Harlequin fashion, Ms. Thompson weaves a sweetly layered plot that will grab you from page one. Alex and Tyler are wonderful characters and it felt deliciously voyeuristic to watch them try to fight the sexual chemistry that practically crackles between them like butter in a hot skillet. When they do give in, whoa! Ms. Thompson’s writing is vivid and brings the reader right into the scene.
My one complaint is when they find their HEA (and of course they do, this is a Harlequin afterall) the story just ends. ARGH!! Not to worry, dear reader, I have checked out Ms. Thompson’s website and there are at least two more stories coming out in July and then August for the Sons of Chance. Since we were allowed to catch up with the other Chance men and their wives in Should’ve Been A Cowboy I have no doubt we’ll be hearing from Alex and Tyler again as well. There are a couple of really sweet surprises within the pages of their story but you’ll have to read the book to find out what those surprises are.
If a heartwarming love story filled with lots of sexual heat and tension is what you’re in the mood for I’ve got a great recommend that comes with its own soundtrack. Pick up a copy of Should’ve Been A Cowboy and get swept up into the beautiful landscape of the Wyoming countryside and the stories of the men and women who call the Last Chance ranch home.

Alex Keller has left the fast life of the city behind him after a disaster break-up with his ex-wife. Now he’s living on the Chance ranch in Wyoming and lives as a real cowboy. But he cannot seem to forget the passionate woman he had a one-night stand with in the hayloft ten months ago.
Tyler O’Connelli is a party organizer on a cruise ship and is heading towards a huge promotion, just like she dreamed off. Just before sailing off again, she visits her very pregnant sister at the Chance ranch and spend some time there. But Tyler couldn’t suspect seeing Alex again, she knows this will change her future, even if she doesn’t want it…or does she.

I love Alex, he is definitely my favorite character of this book, he’s a tough city boy who took the opportunity to give his life meaning again by moving to Wyoming and be near his sister, especially after the betrayal of his ex-wife. I have to say he turned into one hell of a sexy cowboy, I really wanted to be in Tyler’s spot during the book, especially the shower scene.
This novel is well written and has some fabulous characters. I found it a very entertaining novel and couldn’t help myself drreaming about handsome cowboys. I also have to give my compliments to the cover, that’s one hell of a cowboy.

I love Alex, he is definitely my favorite character of this book, he’s a tough city boy who took the opportunity to give his life meaning again by moving to Wyoming and be near his sister, especially after the betrayal of his ex-wife. I have to say he turned into one hell of a sexy cowboy, I really wanted to be in Tyler’s spot during the book, especially the shower scene.
This novel is well written and has some fabulous characters. I found it a very entertaining novel and couldn’t help myself drreaming about handsome cowboys. I also have to give my compliments to the cover, that’s one hell of a cowboy.

Review by Karen: the fourth book in the Sons of Chance series and focuses on Tyler O’Connelli and Alex Keller. It was at the wedding of Morgan (Tyler’s sister) and Gabe Chance (Claimed!, book three in the Sons of Chance series) that Tyler and Alex met and shared a passionate interlude in the hayloft, each knowing it couldn’t be anything more.
Ten months later, Tyler decides to pay a surprise visit to her sister because Morgan is pregnant. Tyler knew she wouldn’t be able to be there when the baby was born because she’s set to go on a world cruise as the Activities Director.
After leaving his job as a DJ in Chicago, Alex has become the Marketing Director for the Last Chance Ranch. He’s planning an Open House to promote the ranch’s horses, but has run into a couple of last minute problems and needs help to pull it off.
Even though Tyler and Alex acknowledge there is a strong emotional connection and sexual attraction between them, they both think they can overlook that pull and work together to resolve the problems that have developed with the Open House. But can they? Will they succumb to the need for a physical relationship? Can there be more, something lasting? Will they, once again, say goodbye to each other?
For me, this was a typical romance story with lots of angst and obstacles to overcome and just a few things that didn’t make sense (but if I told, it would be a spoiler!). If you liked the other books in Vicki Lewis Thompson’s Sons of Chance series, you will enjoy this latest addition; I did. A fun, easy read. I do think the story is more interesting than the back cover blurb indicates.

Yee-haw, what an exciting ride this book was! Right out of the gate, this book delivers a sexy, wild, and tempting tale of a one night stand that quickly blossoms into more.
Alex has made a few changes in his life, settling into his new role at Last Chance Ranch. Seeing Tyler again was the last thing he expected, and he quickly realizes that avoiding her (as well as resisting her) is going to be nearly impossible.
The minute Tyler lays eyes on Alex, she knows she's in trouble. Her one night fling has gone and turned himself into a cowboy, and what a cowboy he is!
These characters were fun, flirty, funny and very real. Once they see each other, the chemistry starts boiling and it's only a matter of time before they are reliving their one night of passion. Alex and Tyler decide that pursuing a fling is a great way to pass the time while she's visiting Last Chance Ranch, and the fire starts burning. Of course, nothing is that simple, and Tyler starts doubting whether her career aboard a cruise liner is what she really wants. Alex has feelings of his own, but he holds back, knowing that Tyler's career is the only commitment she's looking for in the near future. It was easy for me to like both of them, especially when Tyler steps up to the plate to rescue Alex from a party disaster. The dialogue between them was amusing and I found myself smiling through much of the book. It also really helped move the story along, allowing me to finish this book in a single day.
After I read this, I found out that it was the fourth in a series called Sons of Chance. Now, had I known, I never would have read this without reading the first three. But, I have to say that I had NO trouble following this book without reading the previous books.

Alex Keller, now a part of Last Chance Ranch as marketing director, still remembers last August with Tyler O'Connelli with extreme fondness. Alex is trying to move on from the past yet memories of Tyler remain. I picked up this book because it was a Blaze series and I seriously love sizzling hot romance! This author writes a great story but I felt a little overwhelmed by the number of characters and their established relationships to one another. Granted, this is book four in the Sons of Chance series.
Tyler is related to Morgan who is married to Gabe Chance. The Chance brothers are the focus of the series. Each one gets married and the last marriage was Gabe and Morgan.
Alex is Tyler's is her love interest. They 'hooked up' a few months back and then run into each other again at the Last Chance Ranch. They are thrown together, by chance :), and she ends up helping Alex with his plans.
At first they do not want to start anything. They know its only a couple days and then Tyler is off to her new job. Alex has his place among the Chances now. Then they get caught alone and the walls come tumbling down. I love Alex's appreciation of Tyler. From her polished toes to her stylish clothes even on the ranch. This was a great couple to read about.
The simmering development of the story is exactly what I love and miss when I read other themes in erotica. If you are looking for a heavy emotional and sizzling sexual dose of fun. I recommend you pick up a copy of Shoulda been a cowboy. Also this is book four, so this may or may not be read as a stand alone

Tyler and Alex had one hot night together after Tyler's sisters wedding. Neither of them has been able to forget it but when Tyler goes to Wyoming for a quick visit with her sister she doesn't expect that she will be staying across the hall from Alex. The attraction is still there for both of them, and neither knows if they can or want to fight it. Alex is now part of the Last Chance Ranch family, which is something he loves and has longed for. But Tyler doesn't want to settle down, he knows that she will be leaving in a few days but he wants to make them count. But when things start to get too deep no one knows what the right choice for Tyler is anymore.
I liked both of these characters a lot. Tyler was enjoyable and fun and flirty. I haven't read any of the previous books but I assume Tyler was in the one about her sister. I would have liked to have seen a bigger relationship between the sisters. Alex was great, you felt for him because he was a little gun shy for a reason. Both characters had a good chemistry, but I wish we could have read about their night together in a prologue or something to get a better feel for their instant chemistry. Overall both characters were funny and exciting to read. This was a good book and I would definitely recommend it if you want a fun cowboy read!

I was anxious for this story after finishing the previous in the series. I'm glad VLT decided to write it.
I have to take this story in two parts. 1) the romance. I think the romance worked very well. The connection between Alex and Tyler is well established going into the story, so the small page count doesn't hurt it. Their decision to keep it light was obviously doomed to failure - both had their emotions engaged early on. I felt the connection between them and enjoyed it.
The second part of this was less easy to like. Tyler's focus on her career really played a large part in the story. It was the main conflict that kept them apart and the whole reason they resisted entering into a deeper relationship. And yet Tyler decides, rather unexpectedly, that she'd like to settle down after all and perhaps become the marketing director for the town. A position that doesn't even exist. There was no talk of Alex taking a position on the cruise ship - something he was qualified for with a communications and DJ background - or of them working on something long distance so that Tyler wouldn't have to give up her career.
While I enjoyed the romance, the fact that all the give was done on Tyler's part really brought the story down for me.

Tyler Connelli has returned to the Last Chance ranch for her sister Morgan who's having a baby shortly. As Activities Director for a large cruise company, it was as close as she could arrange making it for the big day when the baby was due a month later. Unfortunately, Tyler didn't know that Alex Keller was now living at the Last Chance, employed as their PR man and extra hand as needed. Of course, why would anyone tell either one of them when no one knew of their hot, steamy night in the hayloft the night of Morgan's wedding to Gabe Chance the summer before! Now, with them assigned to rooms across the hall from each other for the next five days, is there any chance that the heat of summer is still simmering ten months later?
I liked this story. It was nice catching up with the people at the Last Chance Ranch again after awhile. It was pretty hot and heavy in the beginning but then, the plot took over and got interesting towards the end.
The book included "Cowboy Up" which is the story of Clay and Emily. I had read this book earlier. It's a good story of a spoiled daughter of the ranch foreman and the ranch vet.

Should’ve Been a Cowboy by Vicki Lewis Thompson is a very sexy read. The start is a tad slow for me, but the pace picked up soon after and I thought I did not mind that very much, after all, the story is sizzling hot, and I found myself blushing at the bold action by the male protagonist.
I used to avoid reading books from Harlequin Blaze line, as most of the storyline does not suit me. i prefer books in the Harlequin Presents, Harlequin Teen and Harlequin Desire line, but I change my mind after reading Should’ve Been A Cowboy by Vicki Lewis Thompson.
Well done to the author for such a wonderful masterpiece. I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars. I received an ARC of this book from Harlequin via Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review and I was not compensated in any ways for this.

I have been wanting to read a good cowboy book for a while now, and unfortunately this book did not do it for me. I loved the setting and the family life style of the ranch in the book, and maybe if I had read the other books in the series I would have enjoyed it more, but as is I I wanted MORE!
I thought it was a little too fast paced, very little romance, and awkwardly realistic? What do I mean by that? The sex scenes, while steamy and hot, where at first a little awkward in that there was fumbling and movement to get into the right place... I don't know how to describe, but it just didn't do it for me.
There where some hot points and the family was a huge plus, which I was I kept reading, but I am not sure I would read the other books in the series. Also, wanted more cowboy sexiness if possible!
