Rate this book
Written from the perspective of Montessori Pedagogy, the book highlights the keys to development from 0 to 3 years (starting with life prenatal) and touches on essential themes such as attachment, primal trust, the complex meaning of breastfeeding and holding a baby, language stimulation and movement development.

In this book, translated into several languages, the Author makes the Reader understand, in a clear and simple way, what the milestones of childhood are and how to accompany the child through them, while truly enjoying this unique human relationship. Mainly addressed to Parents, Educators and Caregivers, the book is also useful as a basis for better self-knowledge.

Silvana Quattrocchi Montanaro (Rome, Italy 1927-2018) was a medical doctor (M.D.) specialized in Psychiatry. She has been Director of Assistants to Infancy (0-3 years) Training Programs of A.M.I. (Association Montessori Internationale) in Rome, Denver, Mexico, and London. She conducted workshops in Europe, U.S.A., Mexico, and Japan to sensitize Parents, Educators and Caregivers on the importance of the first years of life for the construction of personality.

As for her personal life, she married her lifetime husband Pasquale Montanaro (1916-1988) year 1949. Together they had four children.

Great for new grandparents

This book was recommended in conjunction with a Montessori Cathechesis training I attended. It was a perfect child development refresher for me before I began caring for my 3 & 9 month old grandbabies while their parents work. It also reinforced my belief in the miraculous way mother and child interact from conception to and through birth.
