Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice…I don’t think so.
I hated Ryland from the start. Now that he’s my alpha, hate is nowhere near a strong enough word. I’m barely holding on as it is, I don’t need him barking orders at me every chance he gets. Layla and Viv aren’t speaking to me, and I mean, I can’t really blame them. Each day brings them closer to a full moon that could change them both forever. And there’s nothing I can do to stop it. At least I have Jared and Clay. I think we may have found the answer to our little mate bond problem and I finally feel…happy. But then I begin to unravel a secret decades in the making. One that shakes me to my core and makes my wolf feral with rage. The time for recklessness and fear is at an end. I’ll do whatever it takes to protect my mates and my friends, even if it means making the ultimate sacrifice. My enemy is about to learn that no one messes with my family.
SHIFTED RULE is the stunning conclusion to Elena Lawson’s #1 bestselling wolf shifter series, The Wolves of Forest Grove.
Elena lives in Canada with her husband, daughter, and their Siberian cat overlords. She writes dark, why-choose romances full of feisty heroines, unforgettable heroes, and their kindle-melting chemistry.
When she comes out of her writing cave, she can be found binge-watching true-crime shows, obsessively rearranging her bookshelves, or chasing the sun around the globe.
Going into this book I was sad about having to say good bye to Allie, Jared and Clay. I love all of these characters for different reasons and this story completely immerses you into their world. Allie is this strong young woman who knows who she is and takes on the weight of the world on her shoulders. Being new to the world of shifters she doesn’t just accept the status quo. She’s been suspicious of Ryland from the very beginning and rightly so. This book sees her vindicated in her suspicions at least with the people that matter most to her. Jared is the sweet one but there’s a strength of steel underneath that kindness and he’s shown some ugly truths in this book that make your heart hurt for him. Yet when push comes to shove he has Allie’s back. Then there’s Clay, the prickly one who has trouble connecting but is there for Allie in every way. He may not be the usual guy you go to for emotional support but he pushes her to be her best self and not accept anything less. The 3 of them finally work through their issues in this book and finally come together as a team and mates and it was so awesome to see. All 3 have grown up a lot during this series and it was nice to see it come together.
So the book basically starts just after book 2 ends where we’re all waiting on pins and needles with Allie and her guys on whether or not Allie’s besties will join her as werewolves. Poor Allie just can’t catch a break and now she has to deal not only with the tensions and awkwardness of home but also with tension with her friends. There’s also the matter of whether Ryland is truly evil or simply a power hungry bad alpha. These questions are answered of course but I don’t want to give anything away. I will say however that I found the wrap up of very satisfying.
This story was so great overall with wonderful characters you couldn’t help but love and a story arc that sucked you in. I’m also super excited that we’ll get to see these characters again in a novel as adults so I have something to look forward to!
What a way to end a fantastic series! I was on the edge of my seat the whole read as Questions were answered, but more twists and turns were thrown at us along the way! I just love Allie, Clay and Jared and was happy to see their relationship grow and develop as Allie gets more confident. The romance is still slow burn but the conclusion was emotional and very satisfying and I cannot recommend this series enough!
Took me a bit longer than I hoped to finish this last instalment but not through any issue with the book just not having the time. I ended up staying up much too late to get through some more because I needed to see what would happen when they searched the cabin. Great series and loved the ending.
Well shoot. I'm rather sad to see the end of this series. Shifted Rule was absolute perfection. Especially since it answered so many questions that have popped up throughout the series. The tension between Allie, Clay, and Jared was exactly what I wanted to see as their bond ramps up. Like always, I wish there was more! I was beyond grateful to hear that there will be a future Standalone that will bring back these awesome characters!
Allie and Clay have found out something about the Alpha of the pack, and now they need Jared's help to bring the truth to light. However, when Clay's sister comes to the pack and mates with the alpha, things become more complicated.
I loved this series. There weren't any spicy moments between the three protagonists, but I can't wait to read about their happy ever after.
As this is the final instalment of this series boy, was I excited for the thing that I had been anticipating since the first book.
I enjoyed seeing Allie grow into her wolf and being sure of herself was an aspect which I had really liked. The development of the bond between Jared and Clay kind of rounded off as a large chunk of that was explored in the 2nd book. I felt like despite being a 2 mate bond, I felt the interactions were swayed towards Clay and lacked Jared.
I would have given it more stars but the pacing at the end was a let down. The build up was stronger than the big event itself and felt like we just skipped that massive core chunk of the book.
I think a bulk of book 2 and 3 could've been shaved down into one awesome book. There was so much unnecessary things thought about for SOOOO LONG that I found myself skipping whole paragraphs and sometimes pages.
What happened with Devin? Will he EVER get his karma? What about Sam? Clay and her have not seen each other in 4 years and now they are fine to never speak again? I understand what drove them apart, but they are SIBLINGS!! Even with evidence proving Allie right, she just left all pissy. All the buildup about other paranormal species and we never encounter anyone but Ry's flunkie Gray.
I may try this author's other works, but i definitely will not be reading the "next" book that shows them 4 years in the future. I cannot willingly go through this again.
The third and final book in this series has no shortage of action. There is a lot going on at all times. So much so, that it feels a bit too quick at times.
I like a little more heat in my romance, but this stlry feels more like a paranormal YA read with romance mixed in. That eas unexpected, but definitely not unwelcome. 😘
As a whole I really enjoyed this story, and and the unique plotline of a twin wolf with two tails and two mates. However, there are a few items I felt needed a bit more time and focus.
I love how strong the bond is between Allie and her two besties, but I felt like that relationship deserved a bit more attention in book 3.
For starters, we only check in with the girls and their transition to pack a few times. It's also odd how they seem to flip flop with Allie; freezing her out before the full moon, and then being on the periphery of the story for a while after the change.
Allie also never explains how she was turned to them the trauma she suffered before and after.
I guess there is a flash forward where it says she explained everything, but I love this story and wanted to be more involved with that conversation. It also felt like everything was more to do with Ryland and his plot.
We also don't get any further developments or closure on the ex that turned Allie. Where is he now? Clay was even tracking him and that all got put on the back burner.
A great read, but I feel like there is even more room to grow with this series and look forward to reading more in this universe in 2021.

Now that Allie’s friends have shifted, she’s even more on alert than before. She’s accepted Ryland as her alpha, and yet he can sense her bristling disobedience. So naturally, Allie is worried that he will hurt those she loves to keep her in line.
As the packs merge though, something seems to be wrong. Wolves are going missing without a trace, Grey - the vampire - always seems to be lurking in the shadows, and opposing rumours are circling.
Allie is determined to get some answers and keep everyone she loves safe. But those two things don’t necessarily go hand in hand.
It looks like this was originally a trilogy, but the author wrote a fourth book at the behest of fans wanting…well basically wanting some smut. And I have to say I wholeheartedly agree! The lack of any sex whatsoever, even closed door or fade to black, didn’t seem right for the tone of the book. I appreciate that Lawson felt apprehensive to add in any sex scenes when the FMC was 17 for most of the story, but for all the blood and gore and dark tones of the book it really needed 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜. Because two guys in their late teens with added wolf blood running through their veins in close confines with their mate (who was definitely up for it)? I just don’t see how it never escalated past a few kisses.
So I guess class this as a slooooooow burn series.
The ending felt a bit rushed for me. There was all this build up and then it was just…over.
It does give closure to the whole series though so I might not read the fourth book just yet because I no longer have that 𝙄 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙨 feeling that I had through the rest of the series.
This read as very YA to me, which is fine, but definitely not what I was expecting from this author.
During the first book I thought, ok this is going to be a SLOW BURN for the romance, but it actually just ended up being very juvenile. Like I said, very YA vibes. It wasn't a bad story, but it wasn't great either. It definitely didn't need to be 3 books long. I did a healthy amount of skimming in books 2 and 3. There was also a ton of OBVIOUS build up, starting in the first book, for an epic moment and.. whomp whomp.. So unsensational. I only kept reading this book to get to that specific moment and it was here and gone in literal seconds. I'm definitely left with a disappointed feeling.
Also, as mentioned, this just wasn't what I was expecting from this author. I've read her Boys of Briar Hall series and FELL IN LOVE, but this is NOT that. There's nothing more than kissing in this story and wow, was that significantly below my expectations. Truth be told, this story really NEEDED some spice to make it work, in my opinion. The relationships here just didn't work for me at all in the end and I think it's because I'm left thinking "what relationship"?!
I've heard that there's a 4th book now that's set several years in the future and has its own plot line that loosely connects back and apparently she includes some spice. I haven't decided if I'm reading that one or not yet, because I was left feeling disappointed by our ending here. I can't say I'd recommend this series either, though I would recommend it to someone looking for a YA paranormal story.
The final book in this series! This book wraps up the storyline of Allie, Clay and Jared. Allie finally accepts being a wolf shifter and what that means for life. The three also have decided what they will mean to each other and how they will navigate it. Allie has some tough decisions to make and what information to part with. Clay still is his grumpy self, Jared is away a lot, but still his sweet self. They both try to make decisions for her in hopes to protect her. They learn to let her stand on her own even though it is hard. Allie makes some peace with her past as well. While a lot of the plot was wrapped up, I felt that there were some things left for future stories. For instance: What becomes of Sam, How the pack adjusts, and how the relationship continues to develop between the three. Also, what was her uncle leaving on the voicemails?
Slow burn, YA, MFM paranormal romance, finding strength within to conquer fears. I enjoyed the characters and wouldn't mind seeing them as older adults and how that changes their dynamic. As always, great writing and story telling. Highly enjoyed this series.
I read the first 3 so fast, I was LIVING in this world.
I really enjoyed this series. There were some minor editing, plot details, and details that I caught. While they did take me out of the story temporarily, I was quickly sucked back in.
I loved seeing our heroine grow, though I do wish I saw a bit more growth in Jared and Clay. You saw some with Clay, but perhaps with Jared being so perfect he didn’t need more growth.
If you are looking for steamy steamy, this series doesn’t go into it. Meaning they don’t go more than a heavy make out within the first 3 books.
With this final book, I do wish we got more answers on the why our heroine is so different and the what sets her apart. I do wish the epic show down was a bit more, but it does show how strong our leading lady is.
I can wait to see how these 3 progressed in the 4th book, which when they are a bit older.
5⭐️ Reread Favorite 4⭐️ Absolutely loved it 3⭐️ Flaws but kept me entertained 2⭐️ Characters or major plot issues 1⭐️ More than majors issues Updated review scale April 2021
Such a nice little series! Looking forward to the last book especially after reading the acknowledgments! Looking forward to the 🌶🌶
Adore her relationship with both men! Both of the men are opposites to each other but suit her different needs perfectly! Really like her friends also and Charity! Hoping she finds her mate she deserves it felt so sorry for her for living the alpha to watching him be murdered(rightfully so) before getting attacked by his mate by being in the line of cross fire between her and Allie. LOVE grams she’s my fave randomly showing up unannounced all the time
As much as I’m glad the vampire and Ryland have finally met their demise, I was hoping for more of a fight seen! Seem to end too quickly for me especially for such a build up to it.
Looking forward to seeing if Rylands mate comes back starting trouble, I do hope she gets a good redemption purely as I don’t want Clay hurting with it being his sister

It’s so hard to find a series that you don’t get half way through and want to cry of boredom but boy did this book do anything other than disappoint!! I couldn’t put it down....
Allie Grace portrays most teenage girls in current day and their struggles with life but the way you wrote it Elena was beautiful. Her story is sad and painful but also empowering, romantic and strengthening...
She proves that although she has the strength of Clay and Jared... she doesn’t actually need anyone but herself to conquer her fears and do what she needs to do to be able to save and protect those that she loves.
I recommend this book to everyone I know and even to everyone I don’t know.
I can’t promise you, with this series, you won’t be left disappointed!!
Can’t wait for the next book!!

Could not put this down. Elena Lawson did an AMAZING job in the 3rd book of this series. It's just one of those books that has you nervous and on edge the whole time. I felt like I was in the story the whole time, right there with Allie. Allie is still feeling guilt for all the pain she has caused her friends and wrapping her head around having 2 mates who finally agree to share. Allie just knows something is not right with the Alpha and is determined to take matters into her own hands. “I defied my alpha. I attacked him. Was that not an outright challenge?” “You’re going to be the death of me, woman” “Dizzy with desire and drunk on their touch, I wondered if there could ever be anything else that could feel more right than this did” Definitely ONE CLICK worthy.
Amazing ending!!! 💖 What an amazing and intense way of ending this series, I was at edge the whole time, filled with angst and shocked at those twists and turns!!! 😳🤯 Allie grows so much in this installment, finally accepting her destiny and acting upon it... I love that she was always protecting her friends and her mates, their safety and well being taking priority above anything else, even herself #friendshipsgoals #sheisthebest #womenpower 💪👊🤗💕 Her bond with Jared and Clay is stronger than ever, love to read those romantic scenes with them, how both of them made her feel loved and protected!!! 😍 I'm so sad this series is over, but so satisfied whit this ending ❤️
Allie's world is imploding around her. A crazy alpha that hates her. The fate of her friends. Dark secrets from the past are revealed. When they come to light it going to hurt those she loves most. Allie has grown so much. She is strong willed and fights for those she loves. This one is more action packed. I was cheering her on the whole time. I only wish we would have gotten more of Jared in this book and more with the 3 of them together. Everything Elena writes is amazing!I love this series and I really hope there's more to come!
I I recieved an arc of this book from the amazing author and this is my honest review!
2.5 stars rounded up. Not as good as the first book, better then the second, but still disappointing. Allie is still either angry, insecure or angsty for more then half of the book....been over that since book 2. The last quarter of the book is actually pretty decent. We get some answers, and Allie finally grows up and becomes the heroine she was meant to be. It's also nice to get some insight that the duel mating of Allie to Clay and Jared is going to be pursued, and that the three of them are going to move forward together to make it work. Still don't think I'll take the time to read book 4 though.
I have been in a reading funk for a while and was happy to be able fly through this book with ease - keen to finally find the all the answers to the many questions we had coming into book 3. It would have been a 5 star read for me if we managed to break out of the slow burn and hit the inferno level we can see Coming! I am pleased to know we do have a book 4 coming our way - set into a more adult future! While the conclusion wasn’t a surprise I did like how we got to the point we did and that we got the conclusion we wanted to see!
While I didn't want this trilogy to end I have to say that it does with a bang. Allie is dealing with whether or not her friends will now shift during the next full moon. While dealing with that Ryland is being a butthead at the same time. Add in some other stuff and it all comes to a head in one glorious finale that really showcases how awesome Allie really is. Totally fantastic!!! I am especially happy for the adult follow to come. Total must read! I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
I enjoyed this series, and I thought the characters and plots were fun. However, there were some serious plot holes that bothered me. The first book says that they live outside of Portland, but this book says Seattle. Also, *SPOILER* the twins name in the beginning was April, but then it changed to Diana in this book... It’s a fun series to read, and I still recommend it, but I think it could use another round of editing to catch those little issues that could bother some readers. :)
The narrator, Heather Costa did a wonderful job telling the story and giving a voice to Allie. It was easy to follow along and distinguish everyone’s voices. I think it’s pretty safe to say that everyone hates Rhyland and I was on edge waiting to see what happens to him in this installment. Eek!! So much to say but I want to avoid spoilers. I’m gutted to see this series come to a end but I’m also happy that Allie has both Jared and Clay. I love their characters. It’s safe to say that this is a fast pace and intense read. If you enjoy a slow burn romance, and werewolves pick this series up!
Not read this author before, but will definitely be reading more. A couple of very late nights because I just could not out them down! No cliff hangers but still enough twists in the plot. I think the story has more meat in it because of the lack of sex. I am so used to getting hot and sweaty with the always impossibly sexy characters the story line can get a bit lost, though to be honest looking forward to the novel where they actually "get busy". Thoroughly enjoyed it
I really enjoyed the first two books even though the main female character was not always my favorite with her self loathing poor me mentality when she isn't Pitying herself she's actually a good character she's a strong Independent female She's loyal she's kind, I can't say I didn't like this book because the story was also very good I just didn't like so much inner monologue and I'll tell you laters and over explaining that made the book longer then it needed to be.
This was an absolutely amazing ending for Allie, Jared and Clay. We got answers to so many questions that popped up throughout the series and finally got to see them stop pushing against each other and actually work with one another. I am sad to see this story come to an end but happy to see that Elena plans for continue their story a few years in the future when they are older. I can’t wait to see more of these characters in a more adult setting.
What an amazing, amazing book!! I am so incredibly sad this trilogy is over officially. I love these characters and this story line and their cute love triangle and watching it grow. I love the main characters character growth, strengths and mindset so much. She makes me feel unpowered with all that she overcomes! I truly cannot say in writing how much I love this series! Last but not least- I love Clay, reminds me of my husband actually lol 😂
I received a free audio copy of this book directly from the author for an honest review.
Well Allie certainly got some of her spark back which is great but some of the relationships with her friends and even her mates seemed a little bit off point in this book. Maybe she’s less mature than I originally thought in the first book and I’m just over thinking it! Overall though I really enjoyed it and the main storyline was so interesting and definitely well worth anyone giving it a read (listen.)
Now that Ally's 2 best friends were turned in a battle they had shouldn't have been involved in, it's up to her and her mates to introduce them into their new world.
When Ally and Clay find evidence of their Alpha's many crimes and murders, it's up to her to challenge him for control of the pack, and to rule. But her mates are furious with her for risking her life for them.
