The Darkness grows stronger every day and it’s only a matter of time before the Prince comes forth and finally reveals his identity. Adding to the mounting list of trials that Kyra is facing, the intense attraction and blossoming relationship with her newly found soulmate Duncan is becoming increasingly harder by the minute to ignore. As they spend more and more time together, will they be able to resist the building temptation growing between them in order to face what's yet to come?
Now that she is bonded with her mate, Kyra will face battles she’s never even dreamed of. Everything Kyra knows comes crashing down on her when she uncovers lies so monumental that it rocks the very foundation of who she is and she becomes conflicted on what to believe is true. Will Kyra and Duncan be able to stand together as soulmates against what is coming, or will the trials they face stand in their way of ending it all?

Due to strong sexual content, coarse language and mature subject matter this book is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18.

Kristen loves to write just as much as she loves to read. For years, she’s imagined wonderful characters and exciting storylines, just waiting, waiting to be brought to life. Now that her children are a little older, she has the time to enjoy her passion for writing and is putting pen to paper, giving life to her characters and stories.

Kristen resides in Sydney, Australia with her husband Robby, and three very energetic, young children. She loves nothing more than spending time with her family or sitting down with a slice of vegemite toast, a good cup of coffee and writing the next exciting chapter for her characters.

This is a very well thought out duology. I enjoyed Kyra and Duncan's story very much. Despite the steamy bits that I'm not really a fan of reading.
Kristen does a brilliant job of weaving a tight story with likeable and well rounded characters. She's even good at creating some surprises along the way.
Personally, I found the language in the steamy bits cheesy. Maybe it's a cultural difference thing or just that I tend to avoid romance that isn't clean. I do appreciate that it didn't make me feel dirty at all.
The only other drawback (yet it works for my current lifestyle) was that I didn't feel completely sucked into this world or story. I could easily take my time with it, coming and going without withdrawal symptoms.
Overall, I definitely recommend this book and it's predacessor "Conflictus," to fantasy lovers everywhere. You won't be disappointed!

Note: I was gifted an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

I couldn’t put this down and just had to keep turning every page!
There were so many twists in this book that I didn’t see coming which had me even more intrigued. The lore that Kristen was able to build into this book was so interesting and it flowed in really well so it didn’t feel like you were being spoon fed information.
The character building and growth that takes place in this book is so well done, and you can really see them evolving from book one to book two. Also, the spicy scenes?! Hot, that’s all I can say! They didn’t feel forced or just thrown in and really helped to shape their characters even more.
I really enjoyed a different take on Soulmates and could tell a lot of thought had gone into the ever changing intricacies that it was, as a reader I was discovering what was going on as did the characters which helped me to feel even more involved in this book!
Disappointed that this is the end of Kyra and Duncan’s story, but so excited to see what other amazing adventures Kristen is yet to write!

This was a fantastic conclusion to Kyra and Duncan’s story. Kristen takes us on an amazing journey to discover the truth behind Kyra and Duncan’s fates that is filled with lies, deceit, twists and turns and truths that you just don’t see coming. This was a truly amazing series and even though this one has finished I can not wait to see what Kristen has for us next!!!!

An epic conclusion to this fabulous duo of books. If you love adult fantasy packed with action and lots of spicy romance then these books are a must read. A brilliant plot full of unexpected twists which explores the idea of a shared soul and the darkness which resides in all of us and how it can be utilised to make us stronger.

The story takes up from where Conflictus left off and moves straight into the action and drama. Whereas Conflictus introduced many characters and the world of the Light Princess, Contentment hones in on the two MCs. It becomes their story and intensifies these characters giving them more depth and substance.
Everything about this book was more than the first. Not only was there more to the characters themselves, there was more to find out about their history, their mission and their importance. The levels of danger, action, suspense, horrid creatures and the urgency to save the world reached a new high. The characters we thought we knew, surprised and created a new dynamic in this second book that heightened these levels even more. The steamy scenes were more frequent and steamier than the first book. To some points where I thought, “You are supposed to be saving the world!!! Really?” These were important though to illustrate both Kyra's conflict and her part in the task ahead. This also makes it an 18 + fantasy read.

I enjoyed this book I think even more than the first. Not only did the story develop in a way that maintained interest, it provided a new aspect to many parts of the story and the world it is set in. The writing itself has also developed as I feel that the author has become more comfortable, fluent and confident with not only the writing but this story and these characters. I look forward to future books from Kristen.

Pace – cracking! Buckle up you are in for a ride!
Writing – has developed from the first book
Characters – centres on the two MCs and allows the reader to really get to know them. Introduces only a few new characters and scales back on minor characters, giving the reader time to spend on the important parts of the story and the characters who play a significant role in the mission.

World Building – I love this world of the Light Princess. It exists alongside the human world, right there, but unseen. It is a little like The Upside Down in Stranger Things, but a lot less “viney” and monochrome. The reader is also introduced to new aspects of the world which gives it a fresh look and maintains your interest. This book takes place almost entirely in Zagoria. All elements of how this world exists, are well explained and described.

Overall I enjoyed this book. It was exciting. If you an urban fantasy fan, like a little romance and steam, or like a story where good verses evil to save the world, this book is definitely for you.

In this sequel and last book in The Chronicles of The Light Princess, Kyra and Duncan are pushed to the extreme.

Friendships are formed and lost, battles of destruction, lies are unraveled and the ultimate sacrifices are put to the test.

I thought this duology was cleverly told as a whole and that epilogue at the end of Contentment - all I can say is wow 😱

I loved following Kyra and Duncan’s story, and it was interesting to see their relationship evolve especially when they face some rather challenging battles.

There isn’t much I can say else about the book and I can’t wait to see what is next for Kristen Dovnik.

Thank you to Kristen Dovnik for providing a digital copy of Contentment for reviewing purposes only.

"No matter what happens from here on out, I am grateful for every day that I got to share with you. It may not have been as long as I hoped for, but it was still something. My life was dark without you, and each day with you in it, it's only been getting brighter. You are my other half, the light to my darkness, and I need you to know that I will love you even after my dying breath."

This quote 👌

What a way to wrap up this beautiful duology. Two souls combined into one and will be a star forever in the atmosphere.

Without giving away too much, the first 80% of this book was really good and I enjoyed it. It progresses nicely, maybe slightly predictable but good.

The last 20% there were some bits that were unnecessary. It dragged out a bit and seemed to go around in circles a little before actually getting to the ending which was summed up in a few paragraphs.

Overall the duo is good and I did enjoy it

I received an ARC copy of this book and since this is a two-part series I was also given the first book to read in order to be able to understand the story of this book.

This second book is definitely my favorite of the two. There is a lot more development in this story. The first book feels like a lead up to, an introduction to the actual part of the story.

I definitely enjoyed Contentment and consumed it very quickly once I started reading it. Unfortunately, my assumption about the twist did prove correct, which is a shame, and I’d have loved that to have been better disguised in the first book. The issue is that it was pretty obvious as an adult reader, and the plot itself reads like a Young Adult novel (nothing at all against YA), and so it is a bit jarring when you read the X-rated steamy scenes. I would prefer they be omitted, or the rest of the story brought up to an adult reading standard. That’s not to say I did not enjoy the books, and if a 16-year-old me had gotten my hands on these books as they are, I’d have been very excited by them and the illicitness of reading books with full-on SEX in them!

That all being said, the steamy scenes are HOT! Extremely well-written and not remotely cringey to read, which is fantastic. I don’t want to feel uncomfortable or embarrassed when reading a steamy scene in a book, I want to feel (let’s be honest) a little bit randy, and these books deliver.

I was so excited to write this review because it has the best, most unexpected ending I have ever come across in a Romance book.

My full review is available on my blog and I would love it if you headed over there and gave it a read.
