An inspiring book about how nations have been transformed by Christ. However, I thought it was a bit too one-sided, only focusing on how a nation can be blessed. It seems like the author is talking about a prosperity gospel. Nations will get better with more people knowing the gospel, but this is a wrong picture of the gospel. The author did not really talk about how we need to take up the cross until the end.

Favorite Quote: "Juan, I am the same yesterday, today, and forever. You do your part and I'll do the rest. Some things will not come to fulfillment until I return, but I want you to begin the process. You and your little flock are my ambassadors, my representatives. As you obey, I will begin to heal Las Pavas." (Page 229)

This book instilled fresh faith and practical examples of how nations can be transformed. Some parts where a bit too west-centric but in general I learned a lot.

I have a lot of respect for Mr. Cunningham. He has contagious faith and inspiring passion. Having been to every country on earth (plus a number of islands and other terrirories) he has a unique voice in writing this book. His personal stories are fascinating. His brief biographies of people who have changed their countries using the Bible was also interesting. Although I think I agree with the major arguments of this book, there were a few things that didn't sit right with me. A couple times Mr. Cunningham refers to the Bible as a textbook and he has no problem quoting Deuteronomy 28 (the blesses and curses God lays out to the Israelites) and Solomon's prayer whilst dedicating the temple (that talks about God healing the land based on Israel's covenant with God) and applying these passages to modern political states and nations. He also makes some bold statements. All in all it is still worthwhile reading!

FANTASTIC BOOK. I give it 10 stars instead of 5. It gets more interesting in every page and every chapter. It talks about the effect of the Holy Bible if its instructions and teachings are followed by a whole nation. How can the nations be blessed by the Holy Bible. The Author have traveled all over the World and had written stories from many different places.

I recommend everyone who's interested in missionary work to read that book. It's called in Arabic "الكتاب القادر على تحويل الأمم".

Such a good book! I love how in-depth and accurate he is - ocasionally, even more so than "traditional" history, or rather its misconceptions.
There are a few books I want to give of every member of my school's staff, and this is one of them.
(Such is the case, for instance, where my country Norway is mentioned - our text books hardly mention this story, be it history or religion, and people speak of the era as though it was the darkest period of our history.)

I enjoyed reading this book! It’s been a while since I’ve read a Loren Cunningham book, and while I read it because we are implementing it in our Titus Project program, it is one I recommend to people! I really appreciated how in the beginning section, he highlighted history of different nations who had been transformed by the Bible—not just religion, but different aspects of society, government, healthcare, etc. I also loved his charge at the end to get the Bible into the hands of people who have never heard of it before. The need for biblical literacy and discipleship is something I didn’t hear much about growing up in church, not until I became a young adult and eventually a missionary in YWAM. Loren’s books are always straightforward and easy to digest (and discuss), but they do pack a punch!

YWAM is diverse but extremely effective in their ministries. Their ability to apply worldview and biblical principles to help societies, and people to lift themselves out of poverty and social brokenness is very effective. The Book that Transforms Nations explains the foundational truths that unlocks the ability for a nation to experience transformation. The Christian worldview is paired with examples of key character traits that emerged in transforming nations. The honesty of Japanese, the integrity of the Swiss, and the industry of the Germans all demonstrate that godly character is the key to releasing innovation, development and prosperity. This is an excellent introduction to social change which is premised on compassion and not socialistic greed.

The author has given a unique twist in writing a biography and has been (as written) testifying of great reports of what the Bible has done to nations in the past and not so long ago. My personal favorite was the history of Korea and Japan and the Bible.

Though it's a historical book some readers might also may find it odd that the author would insert personal views based on convictions, whether the reader would agree or not is up to them.

Overall, it's a good read. Seldom would I be so eager to read the book in one sitting. Most of the books I read take time but this one puts me at the edge of my seat every time.

I highly recommend this book to those who want to make a difference in the world through the Bible.

This book outlines how both following and ignoring the principles of the bible can effect enormous changes in a nation. Cunningham uses examples from history, ancient and recent, and form his many travels as the founder of Youth With A Mission.

This book quite literally changed my life. It reignited a passion for missions that life had buried. It left me inspired and excited to see the nations changed by the Word and love of God.

Loren Cunningham excels at telling stories and inspiring people. And he does just that in this book. I was a little skeptical and uninterested during the first few chapters of the book, but the more I read, the more excited I got about the power of God's word to transform people and ultimately nations.

Very informative testimony cum history of what the Bible does in the nations of the world.

What God is doing to people who trust in His Word may not be acknowledged by some sections of the people but this book shows that Godly principles will work to develop a country even if people don't directly invoke God's statutes to have been what informed their actions.

some countries are poor and some countries are rich because of the factors that include natural resources, population, size...... really? i propose to you another factor: obedience to God's way. this book shows how countries with less to zero natural resources like Switzerland can remain peaceful and rich despite the world wars.
