Oh, and I’m engaged to someone I consider a brother.
What else could possibly go wrong?
Famous last words.
After returning to the kings after completing the latest trial, my mates and I thought we might actually be able to take our next step in overthrowing them.
Boy, were we wrong.
Lupe has gone insane after he felt me die, Devlin is determined to seek revenge on Aaliyah who he deems responsible, and Ryland’s father is imprisoned for helping my people. To put the final nail in the coffin, I’m engaged to Axel—batshit crazy Axel with a penchant for sharp machetes.
Our newest mission? Save Lupe, find Devlin, meet up with the missing members of the resistance, kill the kings, and then finally, finally stop Aaliyah. Easy peasy.
But when our search leads us deep into the Forest of Monsters and Beasts, we discover that this journey might not be as straightforward as it seems. Dangerous forces are at play, and we’re nothing but pawns on a game board.
The thing is… I’m not a piece to be played, an instrument to be strummed, a joker to be laughed at.
I’m the kingdom’s assassin, the Liberator, and it’s about time they remembered that.
The streets will be painted red with blood before I allow the kings or my deranged sister to hurt another one of my mates again.
But what if the cost of their protection…is my own morality? Just what am I willing to give up for love?
Pride is the fifth of a seven book reverse harem series. This means that the FMC will not have to choose between her love interests at the end. This book contains strong language, sexual situations, and scenes of graphic violence. Reader's discretion is advised.
This book picks up right where book four ended. Two of Z's mates think she's dead, she's engaged to the man she sees as a big brother and has zero interest in, and one of her mates needs rescuing. It's really not a happy series, and the hits keep coming. As soon as one problem is dealt with, they seem to have four more. But where is the breaking point? Killian and his 'pet' are still the greatest. He will never not be funny and awkward. There's a big explosive ending that leaves everything on a giant cliff-hanger. Can't wait for the next book!
Killian got majorly ripped off and clearly the author has lost direction in this thing. I think the story started out strong but then the outline or planned material ran out. Things are not looking up in this series. I keep saying I will not read the next but seriously this book left me past apathetic into this is painful to read territory.
I have no idea how I did it. I had this book on my Kindle ever since it was released and yet I didn't read it until the paperback became available. It's hard to explain, but for some reason it feels more satisfying to read and finish a paperback. To place it on the read pile, to find a fitting place for it on the bookshelves. I think all my read books are a little like trophies. Photographs of all the adventures I had. And I missed these guys, so today the paperback was delivered and I read it right away!
I have to admit that I always have an issue with established relationships that keep on being challenged by outside factors. Don't get me wrong, those books are usually amazingly action packed, but for some reason the true emotional depth for me doesn't hit as hard as when the relationship is still being formed, when the characters are still getting to know each other. We all know how it ends and yet there is something special about it.
I'm therefore probably one of the few people around actually liking the cliffhanger of this book. Yes, the books are still great, they are still amazingly well written, but I miss the tension a little, that phase of uncovering secrets, learning new things every chapter and falling in love with these characters myself. And this cliffhanger somehow seems to promise that we're gonna do exactly that. Again. In the next book. And I'm excited!
Because I like these characters a lot. They're an interesting bunch of people, all with a chip on their shoulder and loads of pain and trauma in their history. I like seeing how they struggle and then find a way to conquer. I like seeing how they grow throughout this series. They're getting stronger and not just physically, but also mentally. And I think the guys will need to show what they have learned in the next book. Bring it on!
Would give the book more but at this time in this everlasting series, I'm too old for cliffhangers so I'm letting go so I may fall gracefully off this series cliff.
Omg why! Why did it have end on that cliffhanger! I don't know what to do with myself untill the next book comes out!.. what a fantastic instalment to the series.. cant wait for more!
O final.
O final me faz querer ler o próximo.
Ele vai sobreviver e ela será perdoada no fim.
Phew what a rollercoaster this series is. The cliffhanger from the last book leads to more adventures trying to save Z’s mates from themselves and the team learning more about who they are. As Z’s army grows there are unexpected allies emerging and old friends reappearing. Aaliyah is up to her usual tricks trying to ‘save’ her sister while causing more mayhem to deal with.
The boys now have a fight on their hands to come back from the cliffhanger of this book
The poison is killing her, she's the liberators with her men splitting, nightmares turning on each other and who is this demon. Why is she torturing everyone. What is her end game already. I'm definitely hating some of the characters also. Really need to know what happens next.
And this one is a freaking doozy. So much has happened, and not just to Z and her mates. Aaliyah, what a piece of work she is. I really, really do not like this character. She is evil personified. And now she has what she wants, or does she? I need to find out the answer to this question, and oh so many more!
A lot of shit happened, yet nothing happened 🤣 Killian is even more stupid than before, Dair did nothing, Jax grew up on me, Bash, Lupe and Ry were already my faves. Couldn’t care less about Devlin. So T brought S back and he just started to decompose wtf lol Previously Devlin said that S was Z’s mate, but all the prophecies say 7 mates. Probably shouldn’t look that deep into it.
Love this series ! From the always amazing Katie May , catch up with Z and her guys through all their adventures! Ongoing series so there is a cliffhanger, don’t miss out :)
4+ stars. We get more and more questions, thought we had at least one answer, but nope. This has more twists then Lombard street in San Francisco. Two steps forward, four steps back. Until the next book!
Wow once again I am floored at thee pure brilliance of Katie May. Thee middle to end has me floored. My goodness I can't wait for thee next book to see what happens. I have a feeling its going to hurt
Interesting. Excited to see how this plays out. Aaliyah seems to have had more time setting up the chess board and z always seems like shes reacting instead of acting so definitely interested in what's next
I was so mad when I realized I was at the end of the book. I need to know what happens… Seriously Z wouldn’t harm her mates would she? She wouldn’t let the dark take over, right? She’s going to come back before anything happens… Right??? I can’t wait to read more!
This is yet another book that you just can't keep without reading.... I read it in one go.... I really wish Katie hurries up and release the other 2 books soon... As in real soon... I really hate all this waiting....
This is the fifth book in this series and I honestly cannot get enough of it. I’ve been slowly making my way through this authors back list but I’ve been flying through this particular series. I love it so much!!
Well I am reading these fast in the hope that I get some answers but no joy yet. Yes it’s got some hit scenes but plot is important and still just running around new bits of world gathering more characters and not putting it all together. The last book better be amazing!
I am totally in love with them all. I need these particular characters to finally have some better luck. That cliffhanger just about destroyed me though!
