The Promise Of Time

Rate this book
Desire or destiny—which would you choose?

Portia Welham lives in modern-day New York, but was born 200 years before on an island kingdom ruled by her father. After she falls critically ill as a child, she’s transported to the future using her family’s Time Medallion. It saves her life; but having grown up in a different era, adult Portia can no longer reconcile to the fate that awaits her back home.

Watching over her shoulder is Michael Bryce, Guardian of the Medallion. It’s his job to keep her—and the amulet—safe. And now they're locked in a battle of wills as he attempts to convince her it's time to come home to marry a prince to further her family’s interests. She resists, much to his frustration.

Till one day Michael arrives in her world seriously injured and Portia realizes something is truly amiss on Welham Island. As she nurses him to health, it’s also clear there’s more to their relationship than they are willing to admit. Fighting a forbidden desire, she agrees to return, whereupon she’s engaged to a prince who promises protection against a common enemy. But it might be too little too late to save the island. And she can no longer ignore what her heart wants.

Can Portia break free of the ties that bind her without compromising the safety of her family and people? Will Michael choose his feelings over his place in the Guardianship—the only world he’s ever known?

I got about 60% through and just could not read any more. Except for the existence of the time medallion, this really didn't read like a time travel romance. Unlike the prequel novella and first book, it dealt with some weird imaginary places which was not at all what I expected after the first book.
None of the characters seemed to behave in ways that would have been appropriate for any of the years, except perhaps the 21st century sections.
Although I got the 3rd book, I'm not sure I'll bother with it.

I never thought book 2 would be even better!

This was a delightful continuation of the story from Book 1 but set many years apart. A lot of the story takes place in present day New York but a significant amount deals back on the island begun by the Duke and protected by the Guardians of the medallions first used in the first book. While we meet new characters, we also are reunited with old friends and get to once again see London and the amazing Crystal Palace.

The Promise Of Time

Portia is in love with Michael but he is a guardian of the time medallion. He was to watch over her and take her from place to place. He had to hide his feelings of her. She would not let it go and soon someone tried to get the medallion for their own use. But low and behold this author knows how to finish the book just right.

Refreshing

I've read many time travel books and this one was smooth. I like the Guardians and the way Michael always just appeared to watch over Portia. The seemed so mysterious and angelic.

Great time travel romance

I loved the characters and all their difficulties and problems. Thankfully they loved and lived happily ever after. I love happy endings!

This book had some time travel in it, and some romance.. It took place on a medieval kingdom island. The main character wasn't too annoying and her love interest wasn't too clueless.
