Books four to six in the gripping, fast-paced, crime fiction series featuring DCI Whitney Walker and forensic psychologist Dr Georgina Cavendish.
LETHAL SECRET Someone has a secret. A secret worth killing for.... When a series of suicides, linked to the Wellness Spirit Centre, turn out to be murder, it brings together DCI Whitney Walker and forensic psychologist Dr Georgina Cavendish for another investigation. But as they delve deeper, they come across a tangle of secrets and the very real risk that the killer will strike again.
As the clock ticks down, the only way forward is to infiltrate the centre. But the outcome is disastrous, in more ways than one.
LAST BREATH
Has the Lenchester Strangler returned? When a murderer leaves a familiar pink scarf as his calling card, Detective Chief Inspector Whitney Walker is forced to dig into a cold case, not sure if she's looking for a killer or a copycat.
With a growing pile of bodies, and no clues, she turns to forensic psychologist, Dr Georgina Cavendish, despite their relationship being at an all-time low.
Can they overcome the bad blood between them to solve the unsolvable?
FINAL VERDICT
The judge has spoken……everyone must die. When a killer starts murdering lawyers in a prestigious law firm, and every lead takes them to a dead end, Detective Chief Inspector Whitney Walker finds herself grappling for a motive.
What links these deaths, and why use a lethal injection?
Alongside forensic psychologist, Dr Georgina Cavendish, they close in on the killer, while all the time trying to not let their personal lives get in the way of the investigation.
Sally Rigby was born in Northampton, in the UK. She has always had the travel bug, and after living in both Manchester and London, eventually moved overseas. From 2001 she has lived with her family in New Zealand, which she considers to be the most beautiful place in the world. During this time she also lived for five years in Australia. Sally has always loved crime fiction books, films and TV programmes, and has a particular fascination with the psychology of serial killers.
I just finished 4-5-6 in this series (a Book Bub freebee). The stories are reasonably interesting; but I had a difficult time believing any of the characters were more than 14 years old. Petty, adolescent whiners.
I think Lenchester is on a par with Midsomer March (UK tv), who would live there with the murder rate so high ? Anyway Whitney and George are doing their level best to find the culprits and put them away and seem to be succeeding, no help from her supercilious boss, but more keep cropping up and all he does is demand quicker results. Good set of characters and drama aplenty with Tiffany, mum and Rob to look after and George's love life and Claire the pathologist to deal with at work. These were a Bookbub freebie and a nice change.
Lethal Secret: This PG13 British procedural filled all my free time over 23 hours, which was probably ten actual reading hours. Never saw the ending coming. I had an ARC and this voluntary review is my own opinion. Last Breath: Allow a full day for this family-friendly procedural with Detective Chief Inspector Whitney Walker and psychologist Dr. George Cavendish seeking a copycat killer. I read an ARC and this Voluntary review is my own opinion.
These are interesting mysteries, each with its own motive for and means of killing. They are well- put together, the editing is pretty good, characters are quite realistic. The thing is, you know the boss is going to get snarky about the team not doing what it takes to catch the killer. The pathologist is going to repeat the same snappish comments. The DCI is going to have her woe-is-me spells. But I still like the books.
I stayed with the three books but at times it was a struggle. The stories were somewhat interesting but the Whitney character was tedious, at best. The action was definitely muted and dissimilar to the usual action stories I read like those by Wayne Stinnett and Alan Lee.
The "who done it" was well disguised in all three of the mysteries. The police teamwork was strong. The personal individual interactions were personable. I also enjoyed the multiple individual personalities. None of the characters seemed stereotyped. I was entertained throughout the serials
I read the first 3 and just completed the second 3 books. I continue to enjoy the characters and their connections with each other in the storyline. Unique stories, each of them different. I wonder if murders will continue in future books or if they will solve other types of crimes.
I was introduced to this Author quite sometime back. Maybe a year, so any how, it was so easy to fall back into the writing style. I love the cast of charracters too! Can't wait to continue on reading her books! 😎
A series of “ heart attack” deaths at a corporate law firm leads DCI Walker and forensic psychologist,” George”, down several false leads. All is resolved and ends happily.
Whitney, a DCI, is the main character in these three books. She works with George, forensic physchologist to solve the murder cases. You get a feel of the stress police go through while hunting the killer. Good teamwork helps them solve the murders.
Nail biting who dunnit series. These books don't sit around growing moss. Figuring out who murdered whom Wil keep you flying on the edge of your seat. Great series. Looking forward to the next sections.
The main two characters are nicely made to come alive. The constant serial killer situation isn’t as believable nor is the chapter from the murderers viewpoint.
These books are easy reading, fast paced with a touch of humour. A mix of great personalities and enough human touches to make them real. Highly recommend.
This is a good intro to the girl’s and how they work together to solve cases. They both have their own problems and have to work through them whilst solving them
The adventures of these two ladies is fun to read. One is a cop and thinks like a cop. The other is smart and thinks things though before she acts. A good combination for a team that solves crimes.
