Rate this book
Truth is just a dream away.

Talon has been captured by the brutal Arcaian army. I'm the only one who can save him, but first I have to face my once-best-friend, Gwynn.

The minute Gwynn drank her enchanted tears, they changed her. She sided with the Arcaians. Now she'll stop at nothing to get the tears I'm protecting. I know a way to stop her, but it requires journeying into the world of dreams. I don't know much about it, but I've heard the dreamworld holds dangers beyond my wildest imagination.

And if I'm not careful, I may never wake up.

With intriguing characters, a complex world filled with magic, and romance that tugs on your heartstrings, readers love this alluring, dangerous, and provocative second installment in The Chosen Series.

Before I begin, I was provided an ebook copy of this series boxset by the author Cortney Pearson which releases June 13
.
"...You're like a metaphor, being one thing while meaning something else entirely, and yet being both things all at once..."😍

Rating: 4.5/5
.
My thoughts while reading (includes some side commentary):

💧 Ambry, honey... SHE'S GONE!
💧 Can you go back to being dead? You were cuter that way😑
💧 Oh, Jomeini...
💧 "...who loves who, everyday it's someone new..."🎶 (Who loves who by Jordan Pruit)
💧 I think I noticed more typos but I'm not sure...
💧 I think some scenes toward the end kind of happened to fast
.
This book really picked up toward the end and I actually said "oh, s***" at one point. The thing at the end with Gwynn felt a little abrupt but other than that, this book had it's shocking moments and I can't wait to see how it ends!

There was a lot of action and plenty of emotion, but the best part of this sequel for me was that the story actually progresses quite a bit. Ambry is growing into her role. Though I did start to become frustrated with her repeated determination to ignore other people's warnings, her loyalty makes her very likeable. She is also thoughtful and kind, and it is very easy to root for her.

It was good to be able to understand some characters a little better, like Ren. I'm liking Talon more as his character continues to reveal itself. This book also provides a better look at Black Vault, the resistance movement. Shasha really started to become annoying because she was just so abrasive. Maybe in the next book she'll be more tolerable. Solomus still has a lot to answer for. And Jomeini started to remind me of Eeyore after awhile =)

The only real issue I had was that it was difficult at times to figure out who was telling the story. Sometimes the point of view changed within the same chapter, which threw me off a little bit. Maybe using headings when the POV changes would be helpful for the next book.

Though there was a lot going on in this book, it moved at a good pace. I like that the author provides hints as to why Ambry isn't quite like other people throughout the story. I look forward to seeing where things go from here.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this story.

Wow ! If you want adventure, suspense, mystery, This is the series to get your blood pumping, I don’t want to give any spoilers, but OMG !! what’s the saying, keep your friends close but your enemies closer. Friendships can be deadly. Your love isn’t yours, but you still believe in all of them, which one could make you fall. Which one will make you stay and fight? How many of them will you lose? I loved this series. It transports you to a world you never question, because the author makes you feel that this place full of tyranny is real, you are there, like a fly on the wall, watching each and every scene unfold. You feel every emotion. I must admit at times I wanted to crawl behind the sofa and just peek around the corner, because I was so tense at what was happening I couldn’t bear to watch.. This daredevil, risk taking young woman not only wants to save the ones she loves, she wants to save them all, but will that be her downfall, unless she can rain in her impulsive personality it may be. I can’t stress enough how much I think you would enjoy this series. To me Cortney Pearson puts every part of her into making this series so good, she doesn’t pull her punches, she makes you experience not only the main character but in book 2, she lets you Into the personalities of the other characters that have joined together. This adds more depth to their characters and yes opinions can change. It was good to understand them more, especially Ren. Ambry doesn’t care / believe who she is meant to be, also it’s hard to suddenly have people to depend on, that’s not how she rolls. I did miss Talon, he is still in the book, but not in person ( will leave you to dream why?) I don’t think I can say much more without revealing some of the storyline. Cortney Pearson, you have taken me away from my reality, you have taken away hours of sleep, you have given me a heart stopping reality. You are giving everyone a series that is the perfect mix of intrigue, war, brutality, heartbreak, suspense and Magic. The twists havnt been so far in the opposite direction that you lose your belief in one person. Recommended, with all my heart.

The beginning of this one was confusing to me even after I read the first book. A lot of characters were in play right from the start and it took a couple chapters to get them straight in my head again. There was mainly discord in this one. Even the characters working together were not truly together. All seemed to hold themselves away from each other. This could be in part they were each working towards different goals. No Talon Ambry relationship in this one except for one scene that wasn't really real. Ending was faster paced than the rest of the book. I received a free ebook in exchange for an honest review.

An alluring read!

Dreams are the key to her awakening...
An execution...
Enemies...
To stop the enemy, the dreams are the answer...
But will they survive the dreams?

Such a breathing-taking, original read that keeps you in its hooks right from the start, making you salivate for more and more until you're satisfied.

The writing is so great that it justs flows wonderfully making you addicted to the written word.

Full of enchanted tears, rebellion, magic, a slow burn romance, action, adventure, mystery, twists and turns, and tension.

Perfect for readers of fantasy romance.

Really good book

I really enjoyed reading this second book. This author seems to take her time and think through her books.

The characters are diverse and lovable. The main character is a pretty good moral example.

There's violence, but not much sexual stuff. I'd recommend it for ages 14 and up.

I received a free copy for an honest review. This book was so much better than the first one. While I really didn't care for so many point-of-views, I understand why they were necessary. The bond between Talon and Ambry grows just as much as it gets strained. Ambry is growing more confident in herself and is gaining more friends to help her fight back. I cannot wait for the next one!

I loved this continuation of the series. It is heartwrenching and heroic. For every step forward it appears to be two backwards, yet they are still surviving and trying to move forward. Can hardly wait to read the next book in this series.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this book. There is so much action and you will experience a lot of different emotions. Ambry is truly growing as a character. So nice to see. She is tested so much and through betrayal she finds out who her True friends are.❤️

I don't know which is worse: Being sad when a story ends, knowing how much you will miss the characters, or WAITING for the end of the story! I've really enjoyed the first two books of Stolen Tears, and can't wait for the third!

I'm normally an adult fantasy reader (18+, graphic/explicit), but when I find a fantasy YA series that looks like it could touch my adventurous heart, I dive in.
And boy oh boy, have I dived in to this series.
The premise is unique, the world-building is solid, and the characters, along with their growth, is formidable.
The emotions I'm feeling from this second book are making my chest feel like it's caving in. I'm hurting for Ambry, I'm in agony for Talon, I'm giddy for Ren, and I'm so sad for Jo.
The gut-punching betrayal of the surprise antagonist in this book is a lot. There aren't words for how I'm HURT from the betrayal. I can't even begin to imagine the hurt and loss that Ambry feels.
I'm excited to read the next book, and hoping that the wins in it are enough to lift me from this pit of despair. I want true love to win. I want happiness to prevail. I want Ambry's people to be free.
Now, I'll go read an easy fluffy HEA book to lighten my heart because it is currently destroyed.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Oh my gosh! What an exciting book! I had a hard time putting this one down and an even harder time accepting it was over when I reached the last page. Lots of action, adventure and emotion all rolled together to create an amazing story. Ms. Pearson has done a fabulous job of continuing Ren and Ambry's story, introducing new friends (and a few enemies) along the way. I am so looking forward to reading the next book in this series!

This series has completely sucked me in. The more I read, the more I want.

This story has gotten so complex and I love it. The pace sure picked up with the action in this as well. Really there weren't any dull moments. I love the growth in the characters, it's felt so natural and really kept me reading. Not to mention the fact that I was yelling at the book every time a certain two characters interacted! I really hope I'm not the only one that felt that way!!!
