He’s a mountain rescue pilot. She’s about to fly into danger.
Rory
There are three things I know as fact:
- There’s a million dollars in my bank account that isn’t mine.
- I planned a vacation fling with a hot Scottish guy…
- But then kissed his twin by accident. Bam, cue fireworks.
Now, if the universe could do me a solid and help me kiss him on purpose, I might forget my money troubles.
Maddock
Two years ago, I betrayed my brother in the worst possible way.
I slept with his girlfriend.
An accident on my behalf, but one that tore us apart. I’ll never hurt him like that again.
I didn’t count on Rory Westacre slamming her way into my life and laying her lips on mine. I didn’t know I could fall for a lass with just one kiss.
I’ll deny those feelings until the end of time in order to make things right with Max.
But when the money in her account threatens her life, nothing will stop me from saving the woman who’s stolen my heart.
Even if I can never have hers.

Stolen is a standalone novel in the Wild Mountain Scots Amazon top 100 series. Expect sharp chemistry, heated scenes, and big love in the gorgeous Scottish Highlands.
JOLIE VINES is a romance novelist who lives in the South West of England with her husband and young son.
From an early age, Jolie lived in a fantasy world and is never happier than when plot dreaming. Jolie loves her heroes to be one-woman guys. Whether they are a huge Highlander, a touch starved earl, or a brooding pilot, they will adore their loved one until the end of time.
Her favourite pastime is wrecking emotions then making up for it by giving her characters deep and meaningful happy ever afters.
Want to contact Jolie? Drop her a line at jolie [at] jolievines.com, or find her in her Facebook Fall Hard reader group. She loves hearing from her readers.
“Even in the barely-there light, he was a bolt of colour. Vibrant. Stealing all my thoughts. Just as, in the shower, he’d stolen some piece of I didn’t know I’d had until it was in his possession.”
And with that single line, Jolie Vines shows us the gravity of her story in Stolen. The next in her Wild Mountain Scots series, and another story of her McRae family, Vines grabs us once again and leads us deftly into a world that you hate to leave. Following Maddock, the twin brother of Max, and the son of Scarlet and Ally McRae, we reenter the world of mountain rescuers whom we’ve encountered in her Obsessed and Hunted. At the end of the latter, Vines left us hanging as to whose story would be revealed in Stolen. In this book, Maddock’s heroine is Rory, the half-sister of Elise in Hunted. And it’s a slow-burn yet steamy tease of a story. Here’s the thing. Rory has no interest in relationships given that her mother and step-father didn’t provide her with the best example of one. Given that she’s now responsible for herself and her mother’s care, she’s overwhelmed with life, and the last thing she needs is a man in it. Until one enters it. On holiday in Scotland, visiting her sister and her newfound friend Max, she ends up accidentally kissing Maddock, and their connection is born. Besides their insta-attraction, their geographical differences are another hindrance to beginning a relationship. For much of this story, Rory fights her growing feelings for Maddock, and Maddock hides his growing feelings so as not to scare her away. Is it possible for these two to find a happy ending?
Everything you adore about Jolie Vines’s romances is in Stolen. The reticent heroine who pushes away the hero along with the hero who falls deeply for his heroine are standards of her romances, and this makes for a read that’s easy to gobble in one sitting. I will say that I think Vines’s last half of her stories are oftentimes the best parts. In Stolen, as Maddock and Rory fight their feelings for each other, you find yourself a bit frustrated with their choices, especially with Rory. It takes a serious situation to finally wake them up, but until that point, Vines puts her readers through their paces, waiting out Maddock and Rory to “figure it all out.”
What do I love most about Vines’s stories such as Stolen? The fact that the landscape and geography are as much of a character as the actual McRae characters. I found myself searching Google Maps for the places described in Stolen. This connects you as a reader to a world beyond your own front door. I love that the common thread of family continues to be woven through her books. While we are used to, I think, more faces from the McRae family than you’ll find in Stolen, they are still there in celebrations and as support for the hero and heroine. Obviously, Cameron, Elise, and Max play bigger parts in Maddock and Rory’s story. But we’re introduced to new characters and reminded of some of our favorites such as Uncle Gordain, ever the puppetmaster behind the scenes. And ultimately, there is a deep abiding love between Maddock and Rory that is commonplace in Vines’s books. Interestingly enough, in terms of the steam level of Stolen, in my opinion, Maddock’s story is tied with his cousin’s book, Hard Nox. Maddock is a big package of pleasure, and he doesn’t hide it.
Each story that comes from Jolie Vines is a treasure, and her latest book, Stolen, is another one for the treasure chest. Maddock and Rory’s story asks you to be fearless even when the future is unknown, and it seems to me that that’s a lesson we should live by. Why not consider it while you’re wiling your weekend away in Stolen.
4 star Review of Stolen (Wild Mountain Scots #3) by Jolie Vines I was hooked on Rory Westacre and Maddock McRae’s story from the first page to the last. Stolen is book three in the Wild Mountain Scots series by Jolie Vines and was a captivating read. There is romance, mystery and suspense with characters who are strong and easy to relate too and whose story you cannot help but become invested in.
The chemistry between Rory and Maddock sizzles, add in the suspense and danger and I was on the edge of my seat. One of the things I enjoy about Ms. Vines stories is that her heroines are not pushovers, they are strong, sassy and feisty although if I am to be totally honest I had trouble at times relating to Rory.
Having previously betrayed his twin Max, Maddock is determined to mend his relationship with his brother. Rory’s relationship with her family is strained and for both Rory and Maddock family plays a big part in their story.
The danger they find themselves in is real and it was encouraging to watch both characters grow as the story progressed.
I read this book a little out of order.. There are two previous books but I don't feel like I missed anything that would ruin the story. That being said.. Holy Moly did this book deliver! Rory and Maddock sizzle up the pages. Throw in a bunch of action and you've got yourself a great story! Fair warning.. there is a slight cliffy at the end.
Stolen is Jolie’s third book in her Wild Mountain Scots series. A story about Rory Westacre, who got in a bit of trouble when she kissed the wrong twin during her Highlands trip. Mysteriously had one million dollars wired to her bank account and is unfortunately anchored to Cali taking care of her mother. Maddock McRae is a mountain rescue pilot who’s desperately trying to fix his broken relationship with his twin. Two years prior he slept with his brothers girlfriend and now got caught kissing a girl he later assumed was his new girlfriend. Can he have Rory and mend things with his brother or does he have to pick one?
This is an adventure romance but to me it was almost a mystery romance. What was with the million dollars? Would the twins mend their relationship? Would Rory ever be able to move out of her mothers house and live her life instead of taking care of her? And so many more that would only spoil the book. I didn’t want to put this book down until I was finished and my questions were answered. Jolie graciously gives us both Rory and Maddock’s POV, which only makes this story better. I love how Jolie throws so many curve balls at her readers that you can’t ever guess how the story will end. This book will keep the interest of any age reader and have you wanting to hop on the first plane to Scotland and join the McRae clan. Are you ready to play detective while sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for more clues and intense chemistry from Rory and Maddock? Start reading Stolen and get ready to book that flight.
”I was torn and twisted by this woman. I wanted her. I wanted my brother not to hate me.”
Maddock McRae carries guilt over something he did that hurt his twin, Max. However, in spite of the guilt, he just can't help his attraction to the beautiful Aurora AKA Rory Westacre. Rory has no time for love and relationships. She's got so much on her plate. From the moment they meet, there is an instant spark. Their chemistry becomes more taut as time goes on and it absolutely blazes when they're together. She's happy to live in the moment with Maddock. When one moment turns gradually turns into something more, neither can deny that their feelings are growing, whether they like it or not.
”He crushed me to him, hard. Then his lips found mine, and our kiss stole any other words. Everything faded.”
This author is just fabulous! Every story is different and exciting - always packed with steam, stunning scenery, strong familial bonds, and a beautiful love story. The characters often have seemingly insurmountable obstacles but always have credible resolutions. Maddock and Rory’s story has all these attributes and then some. I loved the way they connected and gelled. I loved the care and support they exhibited for one another. They were super-hot together, as well as sweet and tender. A thoroughly absorbing, sexy story with a touch of intrigue and danger!
This is a two POV book, told by the POV´s of Maddock and Rory.
I love how Jolie Vines manages to make all of her FMC´s personalities completely different, while each one feels real and believable. I liked Rory, she was very resilient and mentally strong and I loved the artistic side she had to her and how she could loose herself completely in her craft. I liked how Maddock was more of the "silent but strong" type without being grumpy. He carried himself with a calm confidence; like "a rock in the sea".
Regarding side characters I am even more excited for Max´s book now, I have a feeling that one book will be Gabe´s. I love their family vibes like I did in all the other books as well, it just feels so incredibly cozy. I love to see the couples from the first two books and glimpses into how their stories are developing.
Plotwise I think this one has a great balance of action scenes, spice scenes while also having a nice angsty plot. I really could see this one being an amazing movie (I can already picture it). Loved the chemistry between Maddock and Rory and how both tried to fight it in the beginning. I feel like the spicy scenes in this book are a bit spicier than in the previous two. On top of that I feel like we got more of the scottish highlands, which I loved as well. This whole book felt cozy, while also having high stakes.
Overall it was a great read that I really enjoyed.
trigger warnings: kidnapping (not done by the love interest), organized crime
Another McRae has fallen in love! ❤ This family of Scots warm my heart with every page I turn. This time we meet Maddock and not only witness him falling in love but also him repairing his relationships with his twin. I truly enjoyed this book. Maddock was a treat to meet. His heart is full of love and understanding. His heart, strength, and courage will win you over. We also meet Rory. She is a strong willed American who can't help falling in love with Maddock even though she thought he was Max. Honesty time, Rory wasn't my favorite. Please don't get me wrong, I liked everything about her. I just didn’t like her negative outlook nor her "I" attitude. Her upbringing wasn't easy. Her parents didn't make it easy for her. But she never seemed to look for a better alternative. She never really asked her mom questions, she just assumed and that bothered me. She also took the "obessesion" she said her mom had for her step dad and used that as a reason to never love. That fear she had almost cost her.
I love how Ms. Vines takes a love story and adds an element of suspense into it. But she never makes it the main focus. Her characters always come first. They just love strong enough to overcome any challenge. I love that.
This book will definitely keep you coming back for more. I mean we still need Max's story and I wouldn't mind Gabe's. ❤
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
Stolen (Wild Mountain Scots #3) by Jolie Vines is a contemporary romantic suspense told in first person dual POV. Although it’s the third book in the Wild Mountain Scots series, it can be read as a standalone. Stolen follows the relationship between Maddock McRae and his brother’s American friend, Rory Westacre, after a case of mistaken identity brings them together.
I loved Maddock and Rory’s story. And I think Maddock is my favorite wild mountain Scot, so far. After meeting him in the previous books, I didn’t expect him to be so easygoing. Maddock also has a bit of a kinky side which was surprising but I am here for it! Together, Rory and Maddock were scorching hot and adorably sweet. I loved their chemistry, easy connection, and the way their relationship developed. I also loved how Rory had a positive effect on Maddock’s strained relationship with his brother. Can’t wait to read Max’s story in the next book!
I voluntarily read an arc of this book and am leaving a review. So Maddock was a very happy surprise. In prior books he’s always been the quieter of the twins but man did he come out of his shell. Rory as well in the last book seemed flighty, a good time girl with a load of responsibility just trying to escape any way she can. Both of these characters were fleshed out in a way that was amazing! Mind blowing and very appealing. You can feel the attraction between these two even though on Maddock’s side he feels extreme guilt that he has once again stepped on his brothers toes. Rory is such a contradiction. She really likes Maddock but knows her life is back in California. She grabs life by the horns and rides it for all it’s worth. She wants Rory, even if Max is mad. Their adventures, money in her bank account she has no idea whose it is, their issues, both with family and in their own selves made for a wonderful adventure. Maddock was a sexy dominant alpha with a sweet protective side that I absolutely loved. Rory with her openness and genuine care of her mother and yet her angst over her life and feeling so trapped by it. This story just kept opening up new avenues to keep me engaged. Jolie Vines never repeats or gets predictable. And can I just say…THAT COVER! It’s my absolute favorite so far in all her book covers and there have been some really good ones. This author continues to grow, continues to delight and continues to draw me in. Every. Time. Wow!
Relationships are complicated and messy sometimes, but if you find the one you get ready to get dirty
Stolen is the third book in the Wild Mountain Scots series and this is a wonderful book. The story is about Maddock McRae and Rory Westacre. Maddock is the twin brother of Max and Rory is the half sister of Elise. Rory is struggling back home to provide for herself and her mother. But she has come to Scotland to visit Elise and also have some smokin' hot fun with Max. After all a girl needs to relax and enjoy herself when she is carrying so much on her shoulders it would make Hercules buckle. What she was not anticipating was kissing the wrong man, even though he looks exactly like the right man. Well really he turns out to be the right man anyways. Maddock may have kissed Rory but this really cannot happen, even as his body calls out for her. After all she is supposed to be kissing his twin Max and Maddock already has a complicated and tenuous relationship with his brother after a betrayal a couple of years ago. But what the heart wants it wants and there is no amount of loud warning sirens which will end up keeping these two away from each other. Their connection is instantaneous with that first kiss and it only grows stronger.
I really loved this well plotted and very entertaining story. There are some fantastic twists that kept my attention from start to finish. I also loved the characters and the way they are all trying to sort out their relationships. Sure there are some issues that have to be dealt with, which is just like in real life. I really enjoyed this book and would definitely RECOMMEND IT to other readers.
Jolie Vines drafted another spicy story with hot Scotts and sassy females. I absolutely loved meeting both Rory and Maddox in Cameron's book. Both characters project the same confident bravado, but have deeper feelings hidden unless you know where to look. Rory is conflicted by what she wants out of life versus loyalty to family. Maddox chases his dreams at the cost of his own. As we learn in the previous book, Maddox and his twin Max both find themselves enchanted by the California beauty. And a simple kiss and mistaken identity lead the way in a fun, fast read. The chemistry is unmistakable and Jolie has really crafted some spicy scenes I truly enjoyed. Once again we see familiar characters from books past, which I absolutely adore. They don't overshadow the story, and Maddox and Rory are the focus. The story has just the right amount of heat, drama and chaos that I have come to expect from this author. I 100% encourage you to give her series a try. You won't be disappointed.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Another hit by JV! I really enjoyed the vulnerability of this plot. Maddock and his twins relationship is rocky as is so when his brothers fling jumps on him with a kiss and sparks fly Maddock has to try his hardest to resist because he is no giving his brother another reason to hate him. To clarify, there is no cheating in this book so please do not let this stop you from picking the book up.
This book was sort of slow burn while Maddock and Rory both try to ignore the spark and navigate the elephant in the room being that Rory flew to Scotland for Max. However, do not let the words slow burn deter you because once they say screw it and literally screw the spiciness ups ten-fold! Rory was amazing, she's independent and I love it. I'm a full believer that there are times in your life where selfishness is required to put yourself first and she has a perfect balance. Maddack, like JVs other characters, was amazing. His drive and love for his family is great to read about and I love it.
Wow oh wow. So, I have favorites for each series in this whole family, and this book tied with Lochie and Cait. I feel like each book gets spicier and spicier, which I am here for. Maddox is a cinnamon roll but you mess with the things he cares for, he will attack. Rory definitely guards herself, she’s protective of her mom, willing to do what it takes even if it means her life is on hold.
I can normally pinpoint who is the person targeting in the book, in this case who put 1 million dollars in an account, but this one had me questioning everyone and how they were connected to Rory.
While this was the main point of the book, it was nice seeing these two grow, to truth each other and realize that plans change and what you think is a quick fling can turn into more, that sex may be the original reason, but just being there is real and needed. Loved this book, cannot wait for the next one, especially with the epilogue cliff hanger, I need to know more!
Ah, Maddock! He's everything a book boyfriend should be! Dedicated to his family, he's not even consciously aware of all the sacrifices he's made for his brother. I absolutely adored reading about his training sessions and what really goes into the making of a true hero.
Rory was more familiar since we got to know her pretty well in her sister's book, Hunted. I loved her independent attitude, and respected her for taking care of her mother regardless of what it costs her. She and Maddock have chemistry in spades, and I loved how they took it slow with the matters of the heart, being careful not to confuse physical attraction for long-term compatibility.
What starts as a "kissed the wrong twin" trope quickly turns into a long-distance relationship, with her living in California while he's firmly planted in Scotland. I loved how the mystery surrounding the unexpected deposit blows up all their plans while clearing the way for their solid HEA.
Maddock and Rory stole my heart right from the very first page and I couldn't love this book more. I highly recommend it for all readers of contemporary romance, especially if you love all things Scottish. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
ARC Review: I had the pleasure to read this book as part of Jolie's ARC team. I fell in love with all things MacRae with Nox, then I had to go back and start from his dad, Storm The Castle. Stolen carries on in the same, strong, Celtic, endearing, nevr giving up kind of way that ALL the MacRae books posses.
The story starts with Rory suddenly having a million dollars and no idea where it came from. She hunts down one brother, to find a twin she didn't know existed. Who doesn't tell folk that they're one of an identical twin? Anyway, sparks fly between them and I was unable to put this copy down (Yes, I stayed up WAY past my bedtime to read it) as I needed to know what happened next. I wasn't disapppointed! It's a page turner, a hot romance, angsty, frought, full of hurt and not just from Maddox's side! To find out how they get their happy ever after, you'll have to read it. Set aside a few hours, get comfy with tea and snacks. You won't be able to put it down and bathroom breaks are not permitted!
Another Sweet and Suspenseful read by Jolie Vines.
Rory runs up to Max to give him a smooch on the lips. Fireworks ignite. But wait, this isn’t Max she just kissed but his twin brother Maddock. Max shows up while the kiss happens and then takes off, upset with his brother again. Rory and Maddock’s relationship turns into friends with benefits but the more they are around each other the stronger their friendship blooms and love grows. Their was a lot of action, with and without clothes, between these two. Never a dull moment in this book.
If you enjoy Hot Scots, a beautiful American lass who is not afraid to tell you what she wants or thinks and has a wee rubber friend too then jump on this book and take it for a ride.
Rory kissed Maddock, mistaking him for his twin brother. The chemistry they shared was mind blowing, not at all the friendship vibes she shared with his brother. She was not into relationships, not after having watched her mother pining for her stepfather's love her whole life. And they were worlds apart, she from LA and he from Scotland. But nothing wrong with living in the moment and taking advantage of the moments with a hot Scotsman. But will stolen moments be enough for both of them...? This is a fast paced story with a bit of action as with Jolie's other books. I loved their story, a burly alpha male and a bit of a woman, but strong and independent, until she realized she doesn't always need to be. I received an ARC copy and am leaving a voluntary review.
Ok, I was hesitant about how this story was going to go and how I was going to like it. Truth be told, love triangles are not my thing. So I was hesitant about it. But then Jolie Vines just might convert me. Because she did make me love this one.
I loved every second of Rory and Maddock's story. I was so curious about their story from the previous book, so the wait did not disappoint. I couldn't put it down. I loved their instant attraction. Their chemistry was off the charts. They were perfect for each other. I can't wait for the next book!
Jolie does it again! From cover reveal to the words on the page, I think that Rory and Maddock's story has to be one of my favorites. I absolutely loved their chemistry together. They were perfect together. Captivated from the first page, I could hardly put this book down. Rory was perfect, she was fierce, but still careful at the same time. It was as if she was someone I could see being friends with. And Maddock...I think that he may be my favorite. This book easily is in my top ten favorites, and I cannot wait for the next story!
This was a roller coaster from the get go! Maddox is definitely my new favorite of Jolie’s Scots. He’s scorching and I need the burn *smirk* Rory and Maddox have chemistry that sizzles right off the page. I couldn’t put this down, aching for their connection. The twist the plot takes along the way is heart stopping…and that epilogue tease—holy crap!! I need the next book NOW! Kudos to another amazing Highland story!
Jolie Vines knows how to draw you in and make you fall in love with the rugged Scottish Highlands, and her well developed characters.
This was one of my favourites so far. The open wound that used to be the bond between the twins, and the unfortunate history with Max's girlfriend, becomes a barrier between Rory and Maddock.
But they find their way in the end. Complete with steamy phone sessions and helicopter heroics, this novel will keep you on the edge of your seat... and then there's a cliffhanger of a teaser into Max's story right at the end!
What great Scottish names Maddock and Rory are! I loved everything about these two characters! I loved the chemistry, the friendship, the eventual love! I also loved that Maddock and Max are forced to face their issues and become friendly & brotherly toward each other again! Snippets from past characters make this an even better read! These books can be read individually but for complete knowledge / enjoyment of past characters and stories I suggest reading in order! You can not go wrong with anything Jolie Vines writes! Free with K.U.
So amazing! Every book, I fall in love with the family and the relationships and think it can’t ever be any better. Then, a new one comes out and my heart is captured all over again. There just aren’t enough stars to show how great these books make me feel. Every hot Scot and every perfect mate, in the middle of that swoon worthy family, set in beautiful Scotland, is more perfect than the one before. Can’t wait to learn Max’s secrets!
How do these McRae’s keep getting better and better? Jolie Vines is such a talented writer. She writes characters with so many layers, and I love getting to see them all!
Rory and Maddock’s story started on a side of a cliff and I’ve been hanging on ever since. I wasn’t able to put this one down, and I know with every book of Jolie’s I say that hero is my favorite. Maddock is just EVERYTHING! His ability to peel back his layers and is not afraid to show his vulnerabilities just makes him even more lovable.
This book is filled with suspense, drama, emotion and heat. This is the 3rd book in the Wild Mountain Scot series, trust me, you don’t have to read the first two books, but you should, they are just that good.
Just when I think I have a favorite Vines hero (looking at you, Lochie!), here comes Maddock and his amazing, loving, loyal soul. *sigh* (Okay, so the fact that he's a gorgeous Scottish helicopter pilot doesn't hurt his vibe either.)
But what I really loved in Stolen was Rory, the heroine, who I connected with from Page One!
I'm really looking forward to reading the twin's book too - can it be live now? ;)
Once again, Jo has sucked us right into a continuation of a saga we can't get enough of. Just wait to you see what Maddock and Max are up to and how Rory fits in! See how the rest of the family is getting on and find the tendrils of another episode of this family tale creeping out to ensnare you! You'll love the ride!
My notes 📝 Wrong twin, brothers quarrel, mistakes, old pain, friends, accidents, weird note, money, worries, family, mysterie, kidnapping, omg so much happening 😱, training, bantering, chemistry, freakin loved it 🙌🏻❤️. And that sneaky note... cliffhanger for her next book 📖 😅😱😬🏴💙
Jolie keeps surprising me, it was intriguing, exciting, smutty, and I love the characters, the fact we keep getting updates on the McRae families 💕👏🏻
If you love adult romance, I recommend all Jolie’s books 📚
Jolie never disappoints! I absolutely loved this book! I could not put it down! Maddox and Rory have amazing chemistry. This book is everything; love, laughter, tears, and action! Definitely a must read! I love Rory's sass and love of life, and Maddox is that perfect mixture of dominance and genuineness.
Jolie did it again ! She captivates you with her stories. Each story about the Mcrae's Scottsman and women are unique and keep you on the edge of your seat. Stolen was wonderful and shows you a different views of people then what they show the world. The bonus at the end is such a cliffhanger and I can not wait to read. Jolie never disappoints with her story telling.
