Determined to save the world from the three remaining dragons, Sorrowlynn and Golmarr find themselves growing scales. If they do not break the dragon’s curse soon, they, too, will become dragons. But Sorrow keeps getting lost in memories of the past, and Golmarr is seeing visions of a future he does not understand. To finally put an end to the dragons’ revenge, they have to find the very first dragon and kill him. But he’s been waiting for them for a very long time, and he will not simply let them take his life, for he has planned a revenge all his own.
Bethany Wiggins has always been an avid reader, but not an avid student. Seriously! She failed ninth grade English because she read novels instead of doing her homework. In high school, she sat alone at lunch and read massive hardback fantasy novels (Tad Williams and Robert Jordan anyone?). It wasn't until the end of her senior year that the other students realized she was reading fiction--not the Bible
Once upon a time, Bethany's sister dared her to start writing an hour a day until she completed a novel. Bethany wrote a seven-hundred page fantasy novel that she wisely let no one read--but it taught her how to write. Since then she has penned SHIFTING (2011), STUNG (2013), and CURED (2014).
The author chose to publish this book in the series differently: it wasn't available on Kindle and it was riddled with errors. The story is still good and rather tense, but I wish I hadn't read the Epilogue as it was irritating and lewd. Also, I felt tormented by a communication-blocking plot device at the end, and found myself shouting at the main character in frustration. The first book in this series is amazing. The second is upsetting. This was tense and frustrating.
I read this series based on the recommendation from a friend. I obviously liked them enough to want to finish the series, but I can't say they're on my list of favorite books. The characters were really likable and the story was intriguing enough I wanted to find out what happened. The love story in it was sweet and I loved the selflessness and loyalty in the relationship, but I'll admit the romance was a little much for me. Even though it was technically "clean," I felt like it pushed the boundaries at times (the main characters were betrothed to each other and even though they were determined to "save themselves" until marriage, it was obviously a struggle to do so and the focus on that aspect of their relationship was a little much for my taste...and was pretty sappy, in my opinion.) There were also a lot of typos throughout the book, and the writing style felt like it lacked depth. The writing style was very simple and, as a reader, I felt like the story kept stating things after they were already blatantly obvious, which felt pretty redundant. The twist at the end of the story was pretty cool, though, and there were several good messages and morals throughout the series. I'm glad I finished the series to find out what happened, and I did really love the characters and the basic story, but I don't think this is a series I would buy or plan on reading again.
This series is in my top favorites. I loved it since 2018 and waited for this book many years. I’m glad I decided to reread the books and finally read this conclusion. I loved it so so much. Sorrowlyn and Golmarr are amazing and their love story is so beautiful. I love how this book has so much chemistry between the two characters (more than any new adult books with spice in them). Pick these books up!
Never saw the ending coming, really impressed! This one grabbed me slower than the other two books, but by the end, you’re like, “who needs food, sleep, or exercise? I need to finish!!” Also, loved the romance and the humor woven throughout ❤️ Five stars
Okay, I saw the plot twist a long way back, but it didn't ruin my enjoyment of the story. :) Gotta love a determined heroine and a kind hero who love each other for more than their pretty faces.
Fantastic ending to an amazing series!! I have been waiting so long to read this book and it did not disappoint!! Thank you Bethany for having the courage and perseverance to finish this!
Worth the wait and very satisfying. It got a little unusual for me towards the end, but I didn’t mind so much because I liked how it wasn’t terribly predictable. I love how my love for the characters grew even more through this story. (I adore Sorrowlynn and Golmarr!) It is definitely a trilogy that I will be revisiting again.
Nice end to the story The 3 year wait was not too bad, I remembered enough of the story, and with the glossary, I was able to start reading immediately.
The self publishing was evident. There were a few minor misspellings, and a little grammar.
I hope she is able to publish more stories.
