Ava Callaghan A woman working in a male-dominated field. Organized, strong, and tenacious. That’s how she has to be to succeed. Hunter Owens A loner. He needs no one, has no ties, and his future is an unanswered question mark. It’s all he knows. Until the day their lives intersect. He sees the woman she hides from the world. She nurtures the part of him he lost long ago. But they both agree—their connection is temporary. They are only for now. Can their stubborn natures allow them to bend and accept that maybe, just maybe, there is more to life than they believed? That love can heal. That happiness can exist. That for now can be forever.
Author Note: If you love grumpy/sunshine trope with an adorable matchmaking dog, Hunter and Ava are the couple for you in AGE OF AVA.
A bit about me: NYT/WSJ/USAT International bestselling author Melanie Moreland, lives a happy and content life in a quiet area of Ontario with her beloved husband of lots of lovely years and their rescue cat, Amber. Nothing means more to her than her friends and family, and she cherishes every moment spent with them. While seriously addicted to coffee, and highly challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys travelling, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip. Melanie loves stories, especially paired with a good wine, and enjoys skydiving (free falling over a fleck of dust) extreme snowboarding (falling down stairs) and piloting her own helicopter (tripping over her own feet.) She's learned happily ever-afters, even bumpy ones, are all in how you tell the story.

Age of Ava is book four in the Vested Interest: ABC Corp series by Melanie Moreland. I have loved watching the four Callaghan boys find their forever love. But the oldest of the five Callaghan siblings, the only girl, has remained steadfastly single. I was so happy that it was her turn!
Ava Callaghan is thrilled that her brothers are all settled and happy and that their families are growing. But that life isn’t for her. She loves her job at ABC Corp. But love is not in her future. She tried that and it didn’t go well. Ava lives and works in a man’s world. So she’s constantly having to fight for the respect she deserves. Some days are harder than others. Lately, most days seem to be harder. And it was such a day when she ran into the very sexy stranger. He definitely intrigued her. And he definitely tempted her.
Hunter Owens is only staying in town until he can renovate his grandfather’s house. Then he and his dog, Cash, will be back on the road to whatever their next destination might be. Because that’s how Hunter lives. That’s how it’s always been. Trust no one but yourself. Never stay in one place for long. That’s the only life he’s ever known and that is the only future he will ever have. But, one thing he had never counted on was Ava Callaghan.
The chemistry between Ava and Hunter was electric. Hunter saw Ava like no one else ever has. He saw beneath the tough exterior she had to show to everyone else. He saw the vulnerable woman that just wanted to be held. And Ava saw parts of Hunter he didn’t even know existed. She saw glimpses of the man who wanted to belong somewhere, who wanted to belong to someone. Who wanted to trust. But he is clear from the start. He’s only staying until the house is finished. Whatever they share, it will have an expiration date. Can Ava do that? Can she accept what Hunter is offering on a temporary basis? Accept that this is just a fling? That it is just “for now?”
First of all, we got to see quite a bit of Liam and Ronan in this book and that made me so happy. They were both perfect for showing Hunter that he can accept help without anything being expected in return. They were both completely accepting of Hunter’s presence in Ava’s life and I think they played an important part in Hunter’s transformation. I loved the way Ava and Hunter just “needed” each other. That they could hardly stand to be apart. That the pull between them was so strong, so consuming, that neither of them stood a chance of fighting it. And when they danced, yes, they did love to dance, it was purely magical.
Once again we are drawn into this huge group of a made family. People that love each other whether they are related by blood or not. And at the way they opened their arms once again to welcome someone new into their fold. There is never any hesitation. They just do what needs to be done and protect their own. And they now consider Hunter to be one of their own. Once again Melanie Moreland finds a way to pull at our hearts, and to make us fall in love with someone new. Hunter was maybe one of the sexiest heroes of her books I’ve read in awhile. He…was…HOT!!! And, of course, her epilogues give us just enough of their Happy Ever After to leave us with a big smile and a happy heart.

I absolutely devoured Hunter and Ava’s story! I didn’t want the book to end. The fourth book in the Vested Interest: ABC Corp series has everything you come to expect from a Melanie Moreland novel—just absolute perfection! I listened to the audiobook too; I loved the narration by Maxine Mitchell and John Lane, they were the perfect choice for Ava and Hunter. Age of Ava by Melanie Moreland is an EPIC read that will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!
First, there was Jaxson who captured my heart and showed me the love of the right person can be transformative. Next, there was Ronan who stole my heart from Jaxson and showed me that everyone needs to be that person who sees you. Then Liam appeared and took my heart to show me that you can be alpha/possessive with whispered words.
Then Hunter appeared...And his has taken permanent residence in my heart.
With every book of the Vested Interest: ABC Corp series, I announce to the world "THIS is the best one." Well, Melanie Moreland saved the best for the last of 2021. (HOLD your keyboards - Yes insider information last for this year. She's publishing some equally awesome stories before returning to the series in 2022.) Within pages, you meet the heroine.
Ava brings forth all those feelings you have of navigating life where you are knowledgeable and determined. Kill them with equal measures of expertise and kindness. She is a strong heroine that you can relate to. It is always the relatability of characters that determine the power to have me devour a story. Melanie Moreland has crafted such a heroine in Ava. We see her strength, her doubts, and her love of family. We all should be 'Avas'.
Hunter - sex on a stick. He is the 30-40 yo romance hero I so want to read. Sees what he wants and doesn't mince words. He is older and experienced. He isn't a man about games. He wants Ava and shows his desire with sexy ease. However, he carries with him the life experience that is absent of love and home. It's what he knows. What he has always known. And lucky man, his match-making dog is going to show him that love and family exist in a 'little dragon'.
Things I loved: - Hunter: he is unapologetically the alpha hero romance readers ask for - Ava: she is the balance of strong and feminine we want to be - Callaghans, Ridges, etc: family can be uplifting and not overbearing - just supportive of those who are blood and not. - This is not a YA/NA romance. Experience colors the path of this romance.
Things to consider: - It is a series. I beg to start at book 1. I readily admit. The author has created the story to stand on its own. - Hunter is resolute. Can Ava convince an 'old dog' of a new dance?
There were so many wonderful and poignant moments that Melanie Moreland shows us what love is through these rich characters: those newfound flutters and desire to witness love's heart still beats after years. The men make you swoon. The women you want to have scones & tea and know will have your back. This series is one I will revisit time and again to watch the 1st, 2nd & 3rd gen fall in love.
My Recommendation: Buy it and enjoy all the moments with this wonderful family All my stars to give and more!
There’s a little bit of magic woven into “Age of Ava,” the fourth book in the Vested Interest, ABC Corp series. Not the kind that involves illusions or the supernatural, but the romantic, mysterious kind that is involves two lovers who are just meant to be. And Hunter Owens and Ava Callahan, our hero and heroine, are pure kismet!
This series features the now grown children of Bentley, Aiden and Maddox, who own the successful property management and development company, BAM, as well as the children of their close friends who have become like family. I love all of the interconnected characters and how the author has given each their own voice and personality.
In Age of Ava, Aiden’s only daughter finds love with Hunter, Mr. Owens’ only grandson, as he comes to claim the property that was left to him after his grandfather passed. From the very beginning of this series, we were introduced to the illusive and grumpy Mr. Owens, who owned the only remaining property that did not belong to any of the family and friends who occupied the surrounding vast land, lake, and homes. He was a lonely widower, refusing all acts of kindness bestowed upon him by his neighbors, but as the book progresses, we learn there was more to him that meets the eye, and your heart will ache for this octogenarian and all he went through.
Even after repeated rejections, Ava remained true to her spirit and values, and would often check on the elder Owens. Imagine her surprise when she meets her slightly older, sexy new neighbor, a man she can’t help but be drawn to, but who has made it clear he has no intention of staying. He plans to renovate the home, rent it for income, and be on his way.
The author leaves no stone unturned as we learn why Hunter prefers a life of solitude, and has always been in transit, never having a real home. I loved watching Hunter let down his guard and let others care for him when he was most vulnerable. He was guarded, but with a great capacity to love which was very moving.
This book is about their journey, and it’s a long winding road to Ava and Owen’s HEA. But nothing worth it is ever easy, and I couldn’t love these two more. The author writes so descriptively that you can vividly picture him renovating the house, Ava’s appreciation of nature and the views from property, and the family gatherings at the HUB (a central location they all meet at on the property).
Hunter is broken and Ava is such a patient, gentle soul. Working alongside her friends and siblings in their business, she’s tough as nails and smart as a whip, and I love how she stands up for what is right and isn’t a pushover. But it’s taken its toll and Hunter loves the side of her that he gets to see as she unwinds and they get to know one another. He is awestruck at her kindness, and the generosity and joy her family brings.
Except for the companionship of his dog, he has never felt love or acceptance, and therefore can’t promise her forever, just right now. From their first meeting there was nothing but pure passion and desire, and they acted on their feelings early on. I loved watching Hunter’s character development and how Ava’s compassion and goodness was steadfast. Love how she took charge when he needed her most, and all of her family’s advice and support.
Melanie always writes the most beautiful words. I can do nothing else all day but read when a new book of hers releases. I know it will take me away and make me laugh, swoon, cry, and cheer. The array of emotions just squeezes my heart, and their smokin’ hot chemistry and steamy scenes help keep my eyes wide open. Age of Ava was absolute perfection. It’s filled with angst, family devotion, healing, taking chances, forgiveness, and most importantly, true love.
5 star Review Age of Ava (Vested Interest: ABC Corp #4) by Melanie Moreland
Age of Ava was a great addition to the series and is Ava Callaghan and Hunter Owens story. This was an entertaining, emotional read, from the first chapter to the last I was drawn into the story that Ms. Moreland wove and had a hard time putting it down when real life got in the way.
Having been badly burnt in the past, Ava has decided it is better to be single, although having seen her brothers find their soul mates it has left her a little lonely. Bumping into one another at the courthouse, Ava feels the stirrings of attraction but when Hunter learns who she is, he turns tail and runs.
Hunter and his rescue dog Cash are loners with not a lot besides one another. When he is left his grandfather’s cottage he decides to renovate it although he is shocked when he learns that Ava and her extended family are his neighbours.
I fell hard and fast for Hunter (I just love the name), he ticked all the boxes for me whilst Ava is such a strong, feisty, sassy independent woman who I could easily see as a friend.
The fact that we get to see more of the ABC and BAM family is just an added bonus. Age of Ava was an emotional roller coaster of a read but one that was well written and heart warming. I loved how accepting the BAM family were of Hunter and how they welcomed him in.
Age of Ava by Melanie Moreland Wow this is an amazing story that it's filled with intense emotions. Ava is a strong confident woman that works in male dominated field, but she is tough and doesn't back down, ( The nickname that Hunter likes to call her fits Ava perfectly) that includes when she meets Hunter a man that has a tragic past and is closed off and doesn't stay any where long. Well let's just say this is story that pulls at your heart strings I just wanted to reach onto the book and give a Hunter a big hug. Melanie's writing style is just magnificent and original real life issues told in fiction with of course the HEA. I believe she is a wizard of words and every book I have read from her has been magic.. The Epilogue was sweet and Ava and Hunter's HEA defenitly made me smile and cry at the same time. I will never get enough of reading these stories by Melanie amazing.
Hunter Owens didn’t have much. He had his truck, his dog Cash and as of now he has the cottage home his grandfather left him. His plans renovate the cottage and rent it as a holiday home. Of course, those were his plans before he pulled the door of City Hall open and had Ava Callaghan fall at his feet. A man who moved on a regular basis, no home base and no family, suddenly had an urge to get to know Ava Callaghan.
Ava Callaghan, she’s a fighter and after taking on the man in the building/planning division of City Hall, she was ready to accept the drink offer Hunter had made her earlier. It wasn’t until the next day that she realized who Hunter Owens was.
Family means so many different things to people. To Hunter Owens it was something that he had never had; he’d learned it at a young age from his mother. Ava on the other hand had a huge, loud, loving family but sometimes that family was something she needed to get away from.
They didn’t share much in common; Hunter having been raised in a situation where he had no idea what love was or what is was to be wanted. Ava had a loving family but when it came to relationships, well it appears she wasn’t a very loveable person.
In Age of Ava, Melanie Moreland gives readers two people who come from two different walks of life. Hunter rarely if ever making friends and Ava with a huge family/extended family and yet they compliment each other. Not only do they compliment each other the sexual tension that draws them together just gets hotter each time they are together and that heat, my lord, you’d have to be blind not to see how they affect each other. Hot, steamy, combustible….all good words to describe these two!
Melanie Moreland, as she tends to do, draws readers into the story, plays with our emotions and hearts and give us a story with humor, love, angst, hope, truths and as always happiness.
Thanks to Melanie Moreland, for showing me how burgers, fries and gravy and milk shakes build sexual tension ~
Just when I think I'm all cried out, here I go again. Hunter and Ava have chipped away another piece of my heart and I'm not sure I'll ever get it back. Age of Ava blends deep emotion with unpredictable circumstance and captures the soul of the human heart. Moreland is the maestro of the majesty of what love means and could be. Her stories take real life heartache and rework the fairytale fantasy of love into a haunting journey that ends in healing and never loses hope.
Oh my, this wonderful, caring and compassionate family that encompasses the BAM men and their families and the next generation of ABC Corp. bring out all the feels and emotions that I've come to expect when I read a Melanie Moreland book. My goodness -- what a talented writer! These characters have become friends and family and I couldn't adore them more than I do. Hunter may be grumpy and Ava may be sunshine and light, but together they couldn't be more perfect for each other. I always enjoy spending time with the rest of the "clan" and I'm always, always sad to say goodbye when the story ends. But hopefully not for long -- I have a feeling these families are going to grow by leaps and bounds and we'll get to enjoy generations upon generations of these wonderful characters. Looking for the true meaning of forgiveness and that love conquers all? Look no further-you'll love these reads. Whether it's family through blood or found family, the message is the same -- we're all here to work together for the greater good and to help one another. Ms. Moreland does a fabulous job of conveying that message in every single book she writes. Bravo - another 5+ star read!
Once again Melanie Moreland combines the perfect set of characters and surrounds them in a story line that pulls on the heartstrings, makes her readers ugly cry and takes them on an emotional journey that will stay with them long after the book is put back on the shelf. Ava and Hunter's story brings together two unlikely characters and makes them deal with their fears and their baggage while throwing them into what the BAM and ABC's true meaning really is - FAMILY. Good or bad, happy or sad, family is what makes us the person we are and it is also family that comes together when the chips are down - even if they are not blood relatives. Highly emotional and a book I will read and re-read time and time again.
Wow! From the very first page until the epilogue, Ava and Hunter's story captivated me!
Two lost souls, neither one really seen until they meet each other, Ava and Hunter found something unique in each other. Their chemistry is amazing, their banter hilarious and yet it was their emotional connection that drew me in and had me reading late into the night.
Hunter is definitely at the top of my list for favorite ABC heros. Gruff and grumpy, his huge heart shown through in every scene (ok, there were a few scenes where he was just grumpy but I loves those too-lol). Ava is a completely fascinating heroine. Tough yet vulnerable at the same time, she is unapologetically herself and I absolutely loved her.
This was one of those books I wanted to read faster but at the same time wished I could take my time so it never ended! I am definitely looking forward to more from this series in the future!!
Ava and Hunter have such a captivating love story. You could feel the instant chemistry between the pair with Melanie Moreland’s words. Age of Ava pulled so many emotions from me, it was raw, unfiltered, and beautiful. I adore how love from Ava and the Bam family filled all Hunter’s cracks. Melanie Moreland is a go-to author for me and this book is a perfect example why, Age of Ava is a book you want to read in one sitting. Once again the author penned another great addition with Age of Ava to the ABC series leaving you in a feel good, happy, so much joy book-hangover mood.
Audiobook review:
You know that feeling of falling in love? Well, multiply that by 100 and you’ll get where I’m at. I didn’t think it was possible to fall more in love with Hunter and Ava but with Melanie Moreland’s words and the performances by Maxine and John, it became possible. I thought the book was outstanding when I read it but hearing it brought it to a whole new level of perfection. Hunter’s character was so easy to love and well Ava, she’s a Callaghan. It’s impossible to not fall for them. Each book that the author releases in the series just keeps getting better and better and all the emotions brought on is nothing short of perfect.
The best book of the series yet! Ava is a strong female lead living in the man world she has to prove every step she does to the outside world. She has her routine until she doesn't running into a man who interests her and its been awhile since that's happened. Not your usual suit she is use to dealing with and a kiss that knocks her on her a$$. Hunter came back to a world he doesn't remember in a house he thinks his neighbors want. Determined to just fix it up and rent it out but fate had other things in mind. You want to read this book slowly because each page surprises you!
Well, damn it Melanie! You just about broke my heart this time!! This book....there are just no words for how I feel about it. My emotions were torn and raw by the time I finished it. I felt like I had been drug to hell and back at times. Melanie does tend to abuse us poor readers with stories that take our breath away. A man who knew no love, no worth. He had no one to care for him so he learned to let go of things and people. A strong willed, independent woman who had all the love and support of the people around her, yet she needed to be loved by someone who saw what she hid. But were things really what they seemed to be? Did fate have a plan? Two worlds collide in an angst filled and incredibly emotional story! Absolutely loved it!! This series is a must read for 2021!!❤️
Wow! Ava is such a wonderful, strong, loving women. Hunter is *sigh* strong, amazing, caring and so perfect for Ava. It’s true that opposite attracts. They are so perfect for each other. This is another awesome book for fall in love to. Melanie again make me fall for this men of BAM and ABC.
*it’s always at nice surprise reconnect with the first and the second generation*
“… I knew I had to stay away from her. I had the feeling she could throw my entire world into chaos. It didn’t stop her from popping into my head frequently, though.”
It's always so difficult to write reviews for books by author Melanie Moreland. She imbues them with so much that I want to share and prattle on about, yet at the same time I want to be careful not to spoil anything for you because each book is a treasure you should discover for yourself. I finished reading “Age of Ava” almost a week ago. I started and re-started this review multiple times and erased what I wrote because each time it wasn’t enough to really convey all that I wanted it to. “Age of Ava” is the 4th book in the ‘Vested Interest: ABC Corp’ series. You can definitely enjoy it as a complete stand-alone.
Ava is the embodiment of a strong, confident career woman. She’s totally in control of her world. She knows without a doubt that her huge extended family loves her, even though she believes she must always appear as strong to them as she does to the outside world. The one area in which she has ‘failed’ is in finding a lasting romantic relationship. She’s convinced that she’ll always be alone, and it’s a sad truth she just has to accept. Hunter is a man of many talents who inherits the property next door to that of Ava and her big family. He’s a man who has spent his entire life alone. The only creature he’s ever cared for – the only friend he’s ever had - has been a dog he found abandoned on the side of a road. Sound sad? It’s beyond sad because for Hunter it’s simply his reality. He never stays in one place. He’s constantly moving on. Love isn’t something he’s ever experienced, so he isn’t capable of giving it. It’s simple truth that he long ago accepted.
Obviously, Ava and Hunter meet and become involved with one another … otherwise this book wouldn’t exist. I’m not going to break down the plot because it’s something you should experience for yourself. I’m just going to share with you some of what this book made me feel. There are funny moments, sweet moments and moments where you’ll completely empathize with the feelings of the main characters. You may need a cold beverage for some of the passionate scenes, and you’re definitely need a tissue for some scenes that are extraordinarily heartbreaking. At a couple of points things happen that may feel like a punch to the gut. There may be moments when you’ll be convinced that things cannot possibly end well. At those moments take a deep breath and trust in Melanie Moreland. I’m not exaggerating at all when I tell you that this is one of the most memorable books I’ve ever read.
Ava grew up in a loving home around an enormous family. She grew up to work in a male dominated field as project manager. But an accidental meeting has throws her world out of order in a good way.
Hunter grew up with he believe that he could only count in himself since he believed no one loved or missed him. He grew up to be somewhat of a drifter. Until he almost runs over his new neighbor.
A chance meeting that makes their heart beat faster. But what happens when Ava realizes that their for now deal is not what she wants. What happens when Hunter finds out that he was lied to all his life.
They become one of the best love stories I have read. But those are all of Melanie Moreland's books love them ALL.
Another beautifully charming story from Ms Moreland...she really knows how to craft a heartwarming, uplifting tale full of heat and the magic of family. Ava is a strong independent woman and with four younger brothers she really knows how to hold her own especially when it comes to getting her point across!
Hunter is new in town, just passing through as he continues his carefree nomadic lifestyle. When he encounters the intensity that is Ava at the town planning office he is completely captivated by her.... As they embark on a no strings affair with an expiry date, it soon becomes very clear that the only people convinced by their story is themselves! Loved this... very sweet in places, with great chemistry between Hunter and Ava and a world that you can’t help but want to be a part of. I loved Aiden and Cami’s story and I’ve really enjoyed meeting their family.
Wow! This is an amazing book. I think is my favorite one of all BAM and ABC. Hunter and Ava are such a great people, one of those people you would like to go out with. Probably to a Chinese restaurant hehe I felt in love with both characters since the beginning, I think they did too but were so silly and couldn’t see it. I loved their relationship from the beginning until the end, it was so easy and they fit perfect for each other. As always Melanie writing makes you connect with the characters and involves you in the story in a way I can’t explain.. it’s like you are inside the book and live everything with them.. I felt Hunters insecurities and pain and happiness and also Ava’s instant love (even if she didn’t recognize it) I recommend this book but I would read all the series so you can understand this crazy family. Thank you Melanie for another great book!
I am in love with Hunter. I thought I loved my BAM and ABC boys... but I feel in love with Hunter... there are so many catch your breath moments... I love it! Love to hear about all of my beloved BAM men and how they love and care for their own! Please keep them coming Ms Moreland! I will read every one!
Melanie just keeps writing books that I love better than her last! With the bar set higher with each book, I am not entirely sure if the excitement and giddiness I delight in is from lack of oxygen from the height or the wonderfulness of her books! With that being said, this is the 4th book in the ABC series and my personal favorite!
Hunter Owens. A man with no roots, no family, no home. A rolling stone which gathers no moss. He knows he's not happy but has decided that he is not built to have anything more. He has no room in his damaged heart.
Ava Callaghan. Ten years younger and a heart as big as the family that surrounds her. Family by blood and by love. The BAM family. She has been told she is "too much" and yet "not enough" by her exes so has decided not to try for any long term relationship.
This book is just about as perfect as a book can get! Hunter is the Real Deal! He won me over so quickly I was surprised, sometimes it takes a bit. And Ava, well, she was a Callaghan, so I already loved her from the other books. You will laugh, you will choke up, you will want to cry, and you will dance to the 80's tunes while smilinh with the biggest grin! I can promise you one thing, YOU WILL LOVE IT! This book can be read as a standalone if you haven't read the other books. They give you back story on the family, starting with the Men of BAM.
I would definitely give this book TEN "YOU CAN COUNT ON IT" STARS IF I COULD!
Ava Callaghan grew up in a small beach town near Toronto with a big, loving family she adores. They are wealthy, successful, and known for their excellence in business with a wonderful reputation at BAM and ABC. She worked in a man’s world, but was a force to be reckoned with. She was a strong, confident, outspoken, driven businesswoman who took great pride in her job, but was also constantly trying to prove herself. She’s ambitious in every area if her life except romance. She liked answering to no one and only did casual. While her siblings were all settling down and in love, she was still happily single. Then she crosses paths with the intense, guarded, sexy Hunter Owens, and when he touches her all common sense flies out the window, and she feels powerless to stop what’s between them.
Hunter Owens enjoys his nomad lifestyle and prefers to be alone. He isn’t tethered to anyone, or any place, and didn’t form attachments or do relationships. His future was unknown, and that’s just how he liked it. Then he meets Ava Callaghan. One kiss leaves him wanting more, but he doesn’t do complicated. He’s only passing through town, and plans to move on soon, but she’s a temptation he can’t resist. He’s drawn to her and feels a connection that rattles him. When desire consumes them they decide maybe they could have something temporary with a time limit. Are they only for right now, or will forever be in their cards?
-Ava. From the moment I had first seen her, she had fascinated me. Intrigued me.
-Having her close was a temptation I found too difficult to resist.
-I wanted her to want me as much as I wanted her. More than her next breath. More than anything else.
Age of Ava (Vested Interest: ABC Corp #4) by Melanie Moreland is a friends with benefits, opposites attract, steamy romance full of emotion, humor, and explosive chemistry. It’s a fabulous love story about family, healing, and finding your happiness. I really love this series and this world.
I am a disappointed with Age of Ava. I was expecting so much more from Ava and Hunter's story. I have special soft spot for grumpy loner hero.
Maybe more drama. More heartbreak. Instead Miss Moreland keeps the tone and plot light. In some scenes I was screaming in frustration. Frustrated how flat the story goes. And it feels dragging too long.
The whole story has so much promises. Overall I do not hate nor like this book.
Hunter and Ava gutted me. This book is an emotional roller coaster of a romance read. There are beautiful highs and gut wrenching lows that will keep you glued to your kindle. Hand to God I was all over the place until the very end. Age Of Ava is the kind of romance that will touch you because both main characters are relatable on so many levels. Having just finished books 2 and 3 of this series I was pumped and am happy to say that it surpassed my expectations. Ava is a special woman and deserved an epic love story and Hunter proved to be the right man for her. Well done Melanie, well done. Age of Ava is a mature romance read that gets the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval. TBR this wonderful love story and Enjoy.
I didn't think that Melanie Moreland was going to write a story that was going to top my love of Jaxson and Gracie in My Saving Grace.......but she did just that with Age of Ava! This is hands down my favorite story from her - it was AMAZING!!! I was completely sucked into Ava and Hunter's story from the very first page and I just loved the chemistry between them from that first moment they bumped into one another......and that magnetism between them just continued to grow stronger and stronger every moment they spent with one another. I just loved the easiness between them - nothing felt forced between them. Hunter definitely frustrated me though at times, not wanting to truly admit how he felt for Ava, especially when she could see how he felt. And how everyone else could see how things were between them. I mean, look at how Ronan and Liam teased both of them every chance they could - those scenes just made me crack up! But they could see how much their sister had fallen for Hunter and could sense just how perfect they were for one another. But knowing how his life had been prior to meeting Ava, you could understand his reluctance to going all in.....and I'm glad he finally realized what he had with her (and truly her whole family) before it was too late.
I could go on and on about how incredible this story is, but I think it's just one that everyone needs to read for themselves. Definitely one that will make my favorites of 2021 list!
**edited to add that the audio narration by John Lane and Maxine Mitchell was outstanding! Maxine is one of my favorites, but this was the first time I've listened to John - and I can't wait to listen to more. They truly did an amazing bringing Hunter and Ava to life!**
Pure perfection. This series is amazing and somehow gets even better with each book. Hunter was hot, broody, and vulnerable and when he calls Ava 'little dragon' I dare you not to swoon. But Ava was the star of this show. We need more heroines like her. Tough, smart, and hardworking with a softer side that only highlights how strong she really is. This entire series is a best of 2021 for me.
Ava is working long, tiring hours, a woman in a male dominated business and in many cases having to fight hard to be taken serious. She watches her brothers and cousins finding love and settling down, but worries that she won’t find that.
When she meets Hunter Owens, their connection is immediate. But Hunter is a bit of a wanderer and lets Ava know that he can’t offer her anything more than temporary.
“You know what they say about big hands and feet, Little Dragon.” I winked and leered at her. Laughing, she pushed me aside. “Yeah. Large gloves and shoes. They both match your ego.”
I loved this story. Both Ava and Hunter have a lot to learn about themselves, but together they discover each other. -5 Stars!-
Loved, loved loved it! The Age of Ava is full of intense emotions between a gorgeous hero who doesn’t know where he belongs and a kick ass heroine who helps him find his home. A captivating story – I couldn’t put it down.
Oh Melanie has once again pulled me into the Callahan world and made me fall in love with this family even more than before. We have watched each one of the Callahan boys venture out and find their love but big sister Ava has literally just stood back and watched all play out. Love is not in her cards. She has traveled that road before and it never ends well. So she has come to the conclusion that single is her world. She surrounds herself with work and loves her private time. She is independent, fierce and constantly proving herself in the male world at work and that is exhausting. She has never needed anyone to take care of her but the thought of a little helping hand is always nice. Hunter Owens is the epitome of a lone wolf. He is a product of his environment and has learned that the only one you can depend on is the man in the mirror. He doesn't do relationships, roots or promises. but his world is about to be knocked off it's axis but a fiercely independent spit fire of a woman. A chance meeting, instant overwhelming attraction but they both walk away. Well fate has other plans as they find themselves temporary neighbors. Two people destine to be alone but somehow wander into each others worlds. I just love the feeling of love that surrounds this family. It is contagious and so wonderful when they pull you in, welcome you and just love you. ~~Michele McMullen ~~
Representation: Side character with a congenital amputation of one of her arms (her right arm is only partially formed)
Overall: 5-stars
Age of Ava is my favourite book in the ABC Corp series... and to be honest, it might be my favourite book of Melanie’s period.
Quick Take: A moving and intimate opposites-attract romance with a perfectly grumpy Hero and badass Heroine that explores family and the rewards of vulnerability.
