An ancient legend shrouded in mystery and fates evermore intertwined…
For over three thousand years, a nameless forest fairy dubbed “Magenta” has been tasked to guard the most powerful relic in the land of Arcadia.
Or was she?
Grappling with the ambiguities of her own existence, Magenta resigns to help the rogue stranger Josh Richards return to Earth as the only way she ever hopes to restore herself and the legendary relic to their rightful places.
But if Magenta doesn’t even know who she is, how will she know her rightful place? Or perhaps more importantly, how will she know whom she can really trust?
Don't miss the conclusion to this epic quest through a mysterious, mystical land! A second-world classic fantasy adventure.
S. R. Breaker lives in New Zealand with her husband and two kids. She writes non-stop action adventure, offbeat science fiction and fantasy books.
Suburban mum by day and author by night, she loves to live vicariously through her characters. They don’t have to vacuum all day long and are almost always guaranteed to survive any fantastical or thrilling incidents, no matter how treacherous she writes them.
Revelations, betrayals, and non-stop excitement! This thrilling conclusion to the trilogy answered many questions - but not at all in the way I was anticipating. It was suddenly a much bigger saga with far more at stake. Josh stayed true to his character - and Magenta finally discovered who she is. Fast paced read you won't want to put down. I liked how this pulled together so much of the magic, places and people from the other two books.
Book 3 in the Curse of the Arcadian Stone series, this series needs to be read in order. This book does conclude the major arc and reveal the mystery but does so in a way that introduces a whole new issue and has a bit of a teaser at the end for more adventures in this universe - I can't wait to see what Josh and Magenta get up to next!
What a wild ride this book was. Many secrets are revealed, lots of action, and Josh being Josh throughout the story. I laughed, groaned, but was entertained as Josh and Magenta travel around and try to stay out of trouble (hint not very good at the staying out of trouble). But the twist and secrets were awesome and made me laugh. New and old characters pop in and make the story more interesting. Loved it.
The last book in this exciting series or is there more... An ancient legend shrouded in mystery and fates evermore intertwined. Magenta helps the stranger Josh Richards return to Earth as this is the only way she will restore herself and the legendary relic to their rightful places. Will this work and can they keep out of trouble mean time. What an epic adventure with magic ,betrayal, mystery and lots of action.
Chosen Path (The Curse of the Arcadian Stone#3) by S.R. Breaker is the exciting conclusion to the series and is also A MUST READ. I definitely want to read more by this writer. In this book Magenta is grappling with the secrets of her own existence and resigns to help Josh return to earth to restore herself and the relic to their rightful places. With Magenta not even knowing who she is how will she know her rightful place? And how will she know who she can really trust?
“Chosen Path” marks the conclusion to “The Curse of the Arcadian Stone: Nameless Fay” epic fantasy trilogy by S.R. Breaker, which mixes adventure, second-world tropes, sci-fi and classic YA fantasy and an interesting plot into a fast paced story, about a three-thousand-old fairy (Magenta), who had slowly grown bored of her role as protector of the most powerful relic in Arcadia and wished for something to happen, to spice her day. And as it usually happens, life has a way to grant your wishes, just a tad different as you thought.
In this conclusion to the series, the relationship between Magenta and Josh further evolves from a mere joining of forces to reach their own personal wishes (fighting endless boredom for Magenta, and fleeing Faerie for Josh) to a joint venture to restore the legendary relic to its rightful place. Through the quest Magenta and Josh will fulfill their true destiny, even if this is not exactly the same destiny they first have in mind when the joined forces in the very first place.
S.R. Breaker’s story is entertaining, fast-paced, and witty, with captivating characters that are - to say it plain and simple - fun to watch. Josh is resourceful and charming, while using every trick in the book to help him get out of Arcadia, while Magenta is sassy and funny, and full intended in getting some fun to balance the last three-thousand years of boredom.
Epic and incredible from beginning to end! I loved reading this story, the storytelling voice is amazing and compelling, the plot so twisted and thick it makes you want to read more, and likeable and creative characters. It must truly to be a gift to write such quality in a short piece of work. Well done.
Once again S.R. Breaker writes another book full of fun adventures! Magenta and Josh always find themselves in a bind, but the dynamic duo always overcomes every obstacle. I've seriously enjoyed reading their adventures. S.R.Breaker is an amazing writer and I can't wait to see what other series she has in store for us!
You know all those lovely portal fantasies where the “hero” is just wandering around on Earth and then POOF they are in the Fantasy World, where they meet all sorts of fun and interesting people and save the day? That’s what this is, except reverse. The Main Character is some sort of Fay Guardian watching over some all-powerful object until the hero comes and Aladdin-s it away, inadvertently sticking them together while they go forth on adventure.
I loved the twist and was sucked in right away. It’s different and interesting, though sometimes I felt like that strength was also its biggest weakness. Sometimes the main character felt like a side-character in her own story (Side-Characters unite!). She was kidnapped and fainted a lot (there are story reasons for it, but still a bit of a challenge—especially in the first book), so the “chosen one” hero was still calling all the shots. Not that I don’t like a good ol’ fashion hero saving the day, but I would have liked to see a bit more from her, or maybe some more of the story from the hero’s POV to balance it out.
The romance is more muted in this one than I was expecting, but it was quick, clean, and fun. I got through it really fast and am happy to recommend it to anyone looking for a different twist on this trope.
I am loving this story and with each addition it’s just gets better and better. We get answers to our questions and there’s tons of action as we follow Josh and Magenta. It’s been a fantastic fast paced journey of secrets, magic, mystery, betrayal and so many twists and turns that with each passing volume you will find yourself becoming more and more addicted.
Oh how awesome this series is! So different, so heart in throat, so humourous. Yep, ALL of this plus oh so much more!
Magenta brought forth great empathy from me from the first time I 'met' her. Her loneliness leaps out, she had only one period of interaction with a man, Dantilian, 800 years prior to meeting Josh, yep, she's been at her post by the lake for 3000 years.... She was created, yes....created to protect an artifact. What a lonely existence! But she's not a 'thing', she is a fully fledged being who feels, she gets bored, but she knows her duty. And then everything went sideways, fast! Following Josh, intent on getting the relic he'd taken and returning it to the lake, a vast new world opens up to her, she questions her very existence, her reasonings, she start to question everything. There is something so compelling about Magenta and Josh, it's impossible not to want to find out their background, their past, their secrets. Ms Breaker does so magnificently, painting the picture broader with every stroke, revealing it slowly, enticingly. And good golly WAS I enticed! Completely riveted!
We pick up with Magenta having finally returned 'home' only to find she's trapped behind a barrier of sorts and unable to get out. Not only that, there are these strange shimmering things popping up on her. The vein this story took, the direction it went, was as unexpected as it was glorious. The change in Magenta is oh so awesome, not only mentally and physically, magically too, I was actually grinning with delight. The author swathed the story snugly, opening a tiny swatch at a time, keeping the mysterious substance alive throughout the read. And OMG when the bombshells started dropping, when hidden truths came out, when the lies were exposed, I needed a vice to close my jaw! So, Josh and Magenta, somehow, get to Josh's friend Henry, Henry who Josh trusts, Henry who's so congenial, Henry who also reunites them with Gazen and Dia, Henry who's NOT who he portrayed....yeah, I felt as though I was pierced with thousands of lacerations from the shrapnel, in agony together with Josh and Magenta.
So many characters stand out, so many of them exceptional. Magenta, indoctrinated into thinking she was less than she was, Josh, who sure as heck is so savvy he can devise a plan with his initiative knack, feed off each other beautifully. Lance, Gazen, Dia, all fulfill their promise of excellence, even Dantilian's role was a gobsmack moment, as the veil that concealed so much on all of them is pulled away, slowly, to reveal the truth. The way Josh and Magenta spur each other on, draw each other out of negativity is incredibly heartwarming. Those final few chapters, SHOO! So freaking tense! Brilliant, just brilliant! What a magnificent tale Sara wraught, so much life to this story, so much outstanding banter, both comical and tense, so excellently paced in a very engaging and convoluted plot, I swear she could easily be a contortion artist or a Houdini defendant because what she achieved, how she achieved, all the illusions she cast, how she drew in all the unravelling edges firmly together into a tough beautiful piece of art, well heck, and that ending opens up a whole lot more to come! In conclusion? This series is so enchantingly beguiling, it just ticks ALL the boxes!
Not a classic or anything but who needs a classic every day? Its a unique story and the theme of how much damage can be done by lying about the past is very apropos to today.
What an absolutely wild ride! So many things are discovered in this epic book, full of so much magic and wonder and adventure! That ending was just amazing, but I'm absolutely dying for the next book now!!
I read this in a single sitting because I could not put it down. Vol 2 was better than the first, and this was my favorite. I'm super excited for vol 4 releasing soon and for the Dragons of Arcadia series that has also been sitting unread on my tbr for ages.
I had a feeling the female lead was more tied to the prophecy than what we were being told—but I definitely wasn’t expecting that! This short, fast-paced story is packed with twists and turns that keep you flipping pages. I really loved it, though I would have enjoyed even more interactions between her and the second lead. And that ending… why leave us hanging like that? Can’t wait to see what’s next in the series!
