Nique why!!!!!?!???? Ugh these naive teenagers do not have common sense the FIRST!!!!! Let me back up…. I had to get that out because I am ready to scream!!!! 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Look Charae from the very beginning, page 1, you had my emotions in TURMOIL and I have just one question, 🗣️WHAT WAS THE REASON?!The story opens with Dri (age 9) and Nique (age 4) playing like siblings do. Unfortunately Dri decides to take their game to the next level and it ultimately changes life as they know it. Fast forward 12 years later and life has been anything but kind to them. In fact it is extremely heavy and Dri feels like he’s going to crumble at any given moment. Left with no other way to put food on the table, he resorts to extreme measures to provide for him and Nique. It was meant to be a one and done situation to hold them over until his first pay check at his new gig but low and behold his savior during that night turned out to be a devil if I’ve ever seen one.
Kat is an older woman (52) and she pretty much takes advantage of the young and vulnerable. Her motto is “I will annihilate you and coddle your mother once your ashes have been thrown into the ocean.” She preys on those that have deep dark secrets pretending to have their best interest at heart only to later use it against them for her own selfish gains. She’s finally met her match with Dri because he is hardly willing to be a pawn in her twisted games.
In the process of dealing with Kat he comes across Nova. Like Dri she is confident, headstrong and independent. She’s also under Kat’s thumb and forced to do things she isn’t proud of to keep her deepest darkest secrets from being exposed. Nova and Dri bond over their unspoken pain and trauma and become closer than close. When Kat finds out she makes it her life’s mission to destroy them and sadly uses Dri’s naive sister to do it. I’m so glad I don’t have to wait for part two because I need to see how this ends ASAP!!! I haven’t even see how it all comes together yet but based off book 1 you DEFINITELY need this on your TBR List. I may have breezed passed the trigger warnings but be prepared 😓😪

When I tell you I was pulled in at 4%, I mean just that!!!!!! This is a different, yet needed book from the unmatched Charae Lewis. Firstly, the pace was EVERYTHING, and the first chapter sealed my fate. I knew I would miss sleep behind this book. Dri and Nique haven’t always had it easy, in fact, their life is based around a secret that can’t be shared... or could it? Then there’s Kat... whew, Chile! You ever hate a character, but needed their drama because its a guilty pleasure? Well that’s where I’m at with her. She’s truly the HBIC and has almost everyone under a soul contract. She plays the game nasty and no ones safe... especially when she wants what she wants. The ending threw me for a loop. Just when you think you have things figured out.... BAM, ya’ wig ends up twisted and the next thing you know, you’re on glass #4 of wine. Idk what the future holds for Nova, but things aren’t looking too promising.

Babbbyyyy this book dripped drama! Secrets wrapped in death grips, is how I'd describe how fatal they were! As always the author built all the suspense we needed to carry us through the end with anxiety! Lol I'm definitely needing more, so I'll try to be patient til the next release! 😬🤣🤣🤣 Great job! 🎉🎊👏🏽👏🏽

Mind Games
Charae came out different with this read. That broad Kat on some low down, dirty type of shat. I love Nova and Dri together. They complement each other but R Kelly lil sister ain't having it. Charae did a good job playing mind games with the readers this go round. She got U mentally trying to figure out what each person weakness is throughout the storyline. I'm here for part 2

Like always, Charae leaves you with a damn cliffhanger. So of course part 2 is next on the agenda, because I gotta know what is gonna happen to this scandalous ass bitch Kat. I hate her. What kinda secrets this bitch got that she need to hold peoples past over them. And everybody so scared because nobody is thinking that she using all of them the same way. Y’all need to do some digging on her stank ass. Oooohhh this bitch better get hers in the next book!

let me just say this
everything about nique irritates my whole soul. i get she lost her mother and then her father but when you really think about it.. she’s apart of the reason her mother is dead ass well. but nobody wants to acknowledge that part. the fact that her brother told her multiple times he didn’t mess with kat and she still felt the need to tell that lady anything was beyond me. i like nova, i know she’s done something but o still think she was just a young girl trying to find her way. dri has to live with the fact that his finger pulled the trigger and ended his mothers life..he lives with that every single day. i wouldn’t want to talk about it either. nique is selfish.. i don’t care what anyone has to say. she’s very selfish, hardheaded and doesn’t think of anyone but herself. she has no reason not to be going to school it just.. ugh the book is amazing. i finished it in like 2 hours. didn’t stop reading it. love this series and o can’t wait to see what part two has to offer. i’m hoping kat gets exposed for everything she’s doing and nique gets a brain. dri deserves a happy ending.

I can’t STAND KAT
At alllllllllll….I hope she gets knocked clean off her high horse. Kat is the QUEEN of SNAKES!!!
She don’t care who she hurts, just reading this reminds me why I keep things to myself, because everyone’s intentions are not pure and the moment you don’t bow down to them they use what you share with them to hurt you.
I hate the tragedy that happened to Dri ans Nique. Speaking of Nique, the whole situation was more her fault, yes Dri got the gun but had she not been so damn pressed to hold the gun their mother would not have died. Then she’s lying and being the opp with Kat not even knowing that she’s just using her. Now that Nique went against her family wishes of keeping the secret Kat is going to do everything in her power to destroy them. And now because of Nique’s green ass she’s about to go after Nova. This old ass lady needs to be stopped and I hope Dri and Nova do it together. This book is definitely one to read, it starts off good and ends with you at the edge of your seat. I hope Kat gets a huge does of Karma.

Charae definitely took a different approach than the norm. It's crazy how one moment of boredom changed Dri and Nique's life forever. I swear there were so many times I wished I could reach through my tablet and slap Nique. Her lying ass was doing too much and I know Dri is really about to flip out. Kat worked every nerve I had. Like lady, please get a life and stay out of people business. She was too pressed about the secrets of others that she was willing to do whatever to make people abide by her rules. I liked Nova and although she had her own secrets she vibed so well with Dri. Nique has definitely done some damage by not minding her business even after Dri told her that he wasn't interested in Kat. I can't wait to jump into part 2 because whew, that ending has me ready to find out more.

This book definitely got my attention. Very well written, great character development and storyline. My heart went out to Dri and Nique after suffering two losses. Kat is really a piece of work in this book and I feel she is only going to get worse before somebody takes her down for good. Nique doesn't realize what's she's gotten herself into and I just hope things don't go too badly for her. I do like Dri and Nova together and I feel they can help each other overcome their pain. After that shocking ending, I wonder what else these characters will have to endure under Kat's manipulative and conniving ways.

Oh Wow!!
I totally enjoy all Charae Lewis books. Kat is something else! She's so shady. I know there's some dark torment that she endured, and that's why she is the way she is. Alora seems as if she's fed up, but too scared to really poo off because if the dirt Kat has on her. I like the energy between Dri and Nova. I can't wait for them to just put it all on the table, so they can deal with Kat's messy self! Nique I'd just your and dumb and even though her age plays part in her naivety she should know better. After the first few chapters I started embracing this story. Kat wants all the control, so she looks for the secrets. Dri and Nova have a slow brewing chemistry, but their painful secrets may keep them hostage to Kat. Nique highly irritated me from page 1 and to qoute Dri, "are you really this STUPID" Ugh... There is so much drama that is unfolding, what does Kat have on Nova? hoe will Drive handle Kat? And, what about Alora...hmmm. Ready for book 2.

Wow this book was something. Kat is the worst person to know your deepest darkest secrets. I loved and HATED Kat at the same time because she was that HBIC.I was pulled in from the very beginning. Dri was not intimidated by Kat at all and neither was Nova. Poor Nique sad and lonely had no way of knowing she was being used by the devil herself. Bring on book 2. This was my first read from this author but I am totally pulling up her catalog.

Whew! I absolutely love this storyline! I felt bad for Nique and Dri, and understand why Dri is mean......so closed off. Then enters Kat, and I want somebody to bust a cap in her ass. Nique messed up so bad then in the end of the book she's still making stupid decisions. I just can't with her. I'm hoping Nova and Dri make it from Kat's world in one peace because she's a she-devil. On to part 2......

I love how this author is never predictable. She surprises you every time. I enjoyed this book so much. This story was poppin’ from beginning to end. It was well written and flowed smoothly. This book was EVERYTHING! I loved all of the characters including Kat. They were well described and relatable in one way or another. I can’t wait for part 2 cuz Kat definitely has secrets too (gotta read the book to catch the clue). Karma is definitely coming for her cuz you can’t go around crossing people and not think to watch your back!

So here’s the thing, Charae writes these stories that are so disrespectful to your soul. She has you sitting in a puddle of emotions questioning what you just read. Like, NO WAY THAT JUST HAPPENED, but it did and now all you can do is sit and wait around like the Escobar meme until the next instalment drops.

Kat needs awake call!
I'm not feeling Kat. How are you going to prey on others pain and mishaps, to get them to bow down to you? She is selfish, insecure and thinks no harm will come to her missing with people's lives. Ready for Part 2
I enjoyed this installment. The storyline flowed and the characters were fully developed. There was a point where the characters felt overly developed which made the story seem stagnant at points but it picked back up towards the end.
