With my plasma gone—burned out when that psycho Alchemist tried to use me as a bomb—I'm actually relieved. Thomas Newberry is dead and can't hurt anyone else. And if I have no power, I'm not a threat anymore. People will stop trying to kill me and my loved ones. Right?

Wrong. Sometimes defeating one monster only reveals the bigger, meaner one right behind it.

There are fates worse than death, anyway. Like imprisonment by a Fae Queen who's convinced I'm her granddaughter and isn't interested in a family reunion. Obsessed with her legacy and the waning fertility of the Fae, she wants babies. And she doesn't care about little things like consent.

I'm no hero, but I won't go down without a fight.

It's time to reclaim my birthright.

This series for me has been a 5 star series until this book (and the previous book too if I'm honest). In previous the previous book, I felt it teased with the melodramatic, but in this book I felt it went full blown. The whole thing thing with..

I've also continuously have been confused by the relationship between Connor and Fiona. If you're going to be together, be together. I'm tired from a reader's standpoint of this being drawn out to the point where it's unreasonable.

I still feel Gabriella hasn't been adequately settled either. She's a thread of the story that has seemingly disappeared. Her character I felt ended on a weird note because everything we knew about her was she was so sweet and kind, but then when she meets Fiona as herself, she's nothing like we've been told about. She seemed more like a Samantha vibe...

Also, let's talk about the men in Fiona's life...who needs a love triangle between two male leads when you could have three?

I still like the series and I might finish it. I just wish it would have been less melodramatic and shown more of the fun and daring Fiona we know and love doing more cool things with her powers.

Overall Rating :: 3 stars
Series :: Book four of the Ascension series.
POV :: All Fiona.
HEA ::

:::

This series is such a breath of fresh air. It feels new and exciting, and it helps that Fiona is a true badass. Sometimes, in paranormal, I find there's a lot of tell and not a lot of show. Or the show comes after a lot of build-up and it's fourteen books down the line. Not with this one, and not with Fiona. My complaint here, even though it's doesn't have anything to do with how well written or engaging Rebirth is, is still a small complaint. I wanted a bit more meat with this one. It felt short. Sadly so. I'm still totally on board, I'm intrigued, engaged, and I wish Connor was real so I could snuggle him. BUT GIVE ME MORE!

Books 1-4

Books 1-4 can be summed up,.IMO, with the old joke "everything happens for a reason. Sometimes the reason is that you're an idiot."

I was throughly over Fiona's emotiona immaturity on book 3, let alone book 4. But Connor is not blameless.

Since they are both morons the rocky road to HEA was inevitable

I will finish this series but I will continue to read the author. I just can't handle all the angs her characters spawn for themselves.

Another fantastic installment

Fiona comes into her own in Rebirth. Her character matures as she finds acceptance for who and what she is.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book having finished it in less than 24 hours. This series is filled with action packed, quick reads of magic and romance.

If you enjoy magic, shifters, vampires, faeries, and gods(?)... This series is for you.

Loved it

I love this book and how it has the Fae. The fae lands and the magic. I especially love that the FMC has found her truth about herself and her MMC. The book felt short to me because I read it in 1 sitting of 2-3 hours. I really enjoyed the book.

I really like this series, but this one went a bit off the rails. So many things which were big issues were just casually mentioned in passing. And the Mary Sue-ness is a bit off the charts.

Awesome

The storytelling in this series really is amazing! The characters and the worldbuilding are amazing too! I can’t wait to see what happens next!

I still don’t like fae stories and this was super confusing. Too many complex bloodlines and interwoven relationships with only brief one time explanations.

And the nothingness continues. The one consistency has been the melodrama. I love you, I hate you, I love you, I hate you. Just die already.

I really do love this series and the world it's set in. I think I'm starting to get a litttttle exhausted from trying to figure out what's going on though. So much info that doesn't immediately make sense and I sometimes find myself thinking - I don't actually know what's happening here. Like Fiona's dad and grandparents and... who's who? I'm lost.

In saying that though I'm still loving following Fiona - she's probably one of the first MFCs I've really loved. She's a proper badass and I don't hate her in the slightest.

I'd love Connor to appear in my life plz.
