this was a great blend of fantasy and horror genres, I was so invested in what was going on in this book. The characters were great and I enjoyed what I read.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A fun mix of Indiana Jones & Uncharted.

Quick and enjoyable read. A lot of high stakes action. The characters did gel together and you felt they did care for one another, at times the dialogue was a little rough. We left on a cliffhanger, not knowing where and what will happen after the climax.

I would have liked Luke to become more confident and stronger after each action scene, however he just stayed the same man. I’d have liked to have seen him become this sort of Indiana Jones / Nathan Drake sort of character.

Overall it was definitely a fun read, parts I felt could have been improved, although they weren’t enough to make me dislike the story. 3.5/5

Very unexpected 😃. Like a more modern and relatable mix of Indiana Jones, and Assassin's Creed.

An excellent debut novel that offers an exciting ride through mythologies and the world at large. Well researched that creates a list of places to see when this lockdown world is over. I look forward to hopefully more books in the series and more from this author.

I liken Pyramidion to an Indiana Jones type story - fast paced, full of action with a story set in modern times but exploring historical stories/mythology. It's another easy read with little attention paid to describing environments or exploring the thoughts of the characters within. I don't view that as a negative however as it is very well written and allows the story to progress without getting bogged down in cumbersome details. It's a fast paced book but rarely feels as though it's going too fast or skimping on detail.

That said I did feel, at times, that the pace detracted from the sense of struggle for the main characters. Over the course of a couple of chapters they would find a thing, fly to the country with the thing, learn about how impossible it is to find, find it, learn something new, then head off to find another thing. Is that obtuse enough not to give spoilers?! lol.

Another thing I noticed was that the characters didn't evolve much over the course of the novel. When they were introduced you were given a very good description of their personalities and how they would react to a situation - then, for the rest of the book, their reactions were exactly what you'd expect. Again I didn't view this as a negative however as it worked very well for a fast paced action adventure story.

I really liked the path the story took and its interpretation of historical stories/mythology. I'm a bit of a fan of that sort of thing anyway but Pyramidion gave it just the right amount of service to provide a means for the story to progress without getting bogged down in the factual details of the source.

Tl;dr - A fantastic, fast paced book that was a really enjoyable read. Looking forward to the next one... although, as it was only released a week or two back, I may have to wait a while!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend giving it a go. I like the tie in with history and found myself impressed with how believable this history in present times could be. Looking forward to the next book from this author.
