This novel takes the form of a flashback, the main character Askwti, after his return from France where he spent most of his life, remembers his village, his family, his sufferings, his adventures and his vision of things, he remembers all the great moments that marked his career, the sufferings of a shepherd exploited by Bihi n tadwwart a local notable, before he was enlisted, like some of the young people of his age, by the infamous "Mugha", other suffering as a minor in France but in the latter the suffering is better paid after his return to the bled.
The events of this novel take place in the sixties and seventies, marked by the first waves of migration to Europe in an Amazigh village called "AKUBAN" located in the depths of the souss, a region of Morocco that colonial terminology qualified as d "useless". It is an extremely poor village, marginalized and isolated from the world, in which relations of exploitation prevail which lock the inhabitants into a relationship of domination forged by the social status of each one.
