Door Number Two
By Vinni George

Given how short the story is I don't want to spoil anything so no story background this time, but I will say I really liked it. I loved Corbin and Ryan together. It's sweet, funny, and has the tiniest bit of angst.

A definite addition to my reread collection and I can't wait to read the rest of the series so far.

The book was in both Corbin and Ryan's POV.

After slogging through a book that I had to DNF because I couldn't pay attention anymore, I was so happy to read Door Number Two by Vinni George! This novella had everything you want in a great story - characters with enough backstory to know who they are and where they are coming from, a meet-cute to die for, insta-attraction, a short but not insurmountable crisis and a HEA!

Quite an adorable little story. Corbin reluctantly agreed to attend a night at a Halloween party. He will meet up with a guy named Brian, a jerk dressed as Mr. America, kind of a blind date because they never met in real life.
I don’t want to spoil the content, I’ll only tell you there are two Mr. Americas.
It’s a short read with a lovely course. I loved the characters and I loved the outcome.
A nicely, captivatingly written story I adored!

Note: This is a short story from the series Open Doors and takes place along a similar timeline of Sliding Doors, the first book in the series. This can be read as a standalone.

Corbin has moved to California for his job when his magazine is acquired. He’s been enjoying the change, but he doesn’t have a lot of friends yet. He’s made friends with some of his coworkers, but he really hasn’t been dating much. When one of his coworkers wants to introduce him to her brother who has returned from the military, he’s reluctant but agrees. But first, he has a Halloween party to attend.

Corbin has agreed to meet a guy he’s only talked to via a dating app. He’s not super excited about this guy – he kind of seems like a bit of an asshat. But he does want to get out and meet people. They haven’t never seen each other in person, but they share their costume choices for the party. So he heads to the party and he’s super surprised at how much he likes the Captain America he meets. Like they really hit it off 😉 But when another Captain America shows up later at the party, Corbin realizes things are not as they appeared 😮

This was adorable! I loved both MCs. They were so cute and it’s clear they connect right away. I thoroughly enjoyed the mistaken identity tropes and the cute way they ended up reconnecting. I loved the writer’s style in both this story and the first book in the series. I’m eagerly waiting the next book to be honest 😉 A completely fun and enjoyable episode – perfect way to enjoy a half hour when you have the time. Great timing with Halloween coming up too! Highly recommended for fans of cute, sweet and hot short stories 😀

On holiday, ATM, but might have to check this author out when I get home. RTC

***Short Story Free from a Prolific Works giveaway***

When I saw the the Prolific Works giveaway from Slade James's email, I knew I had to get his short, The Day Pass. But, because am new to MM romance, I wanted to try and discover new authors and, on a whim, downloaded this with a few others (French Tryst & Fan Service) and, out of the three, this novella was the one I went "I need to know more about this series as soon as I can!". I had such a wonderful time reading this!

Yes, it's a tad troupe with the mistaken identity and oh, the mystery man is moving in next door, but Oh, I could have so easily read an entirely novel with Corbin and Ryan (yes, I know I've given this a three star rating even though I adored my time reading this, but I never go higher than 3 with shorts.)

I am looking into the first and second instalment in this series, Hold the Door & Revolving Door, to see where would be the best place for me to jump in but as long as either of them are a sweet, cute and fun as this, I will be very happy!

If you're looking for a book that's short and sweet, then Door Number Two is a great one. It's technically book one and a half of the Open Doors series, but I've not read the series and was able to fully understand it, meaning that it works very well as a standalone.

Door Number Two features Ryan, a former marine, and Corbin, a boy who hasn't quite found his footing since moving to San Diego from Boston. They meet by accident. Corbin goes to a Halloween party and he's supposed to meet up with a blind date, Brian, who tells him he'll be dressed as Captain America. Ryan is at the same party, dressed as - you guessed it. Captain America. They hit it off and Corbin promises to call or text.

Except this is a case of mistaken identity.

Despite this being a novella, George takes the time to show us who the characters are. I felt like I got to know them in the short period that I spent with them. They were decently developed for a book that took place in approximately 24 hours (epilogue notwithstanding). We got a nice glimpse of the side characters, enough to feel like they existed as more than dialogue on a page. I loved the brief bits of familial relationship we got with Ryan and Millie.

Honestly, the only thing I didn't like about this book was that it wasn't a full length novel. I could've read so much more on these two men.

Corbin and Captain

‘Some unseen thread pulled us together, and before I really knew what was happening, I was in Ryan’s lap and his lips were pressed against mine. The feeling of his mouth moving against me was so wonderful I melted into him. His strong arms wrapped around me and held me flush to his big body, and I had the fleeting thought that there, in his arms, was where I belonged. I’d never fallen so hard and fast for someone before, but that was where I was—at the bottom of a well of longing so deep I no longer cared if I ever saw the sun, because if I had Ryan, I didn’t need anything else.’

Such a sweet novella! We first met Corbin in Vinni George’s Book 1 of the Open Doors series. In Door Number Two, Corbin is searching for something more than a hook-up, when he is expected to attend a blind date.

Ryan’s first Halloween party as a civilian takes an unexpected turn when a handsome young man dressed as Dorothy finds his heart.

This is an adorable and steamy meet cute for two lovely characters!

A short story about Corbin from Hold the Door. Corbin is a young employee of a magazine publisher, newly moved to San Diego. He gets set up on a blind date by a work friend where he'll meet Brian for the first time in person at a Halloween costume party. After some texts, Corbin's pretty sure Brian is not going be a keeper but he still needs to get out and make some new friends. Brian's coming as Captain America. Corbin finds that Brian is a heck of a lot more interesting and super hot compared to his online impression.

It's fun, light-hearted story with several crazy coincidences. I'm waiting happily for the next book, Revolving Door about Archer.

Good things come in small packages, or novellas! Corbin needs to get out more. He needs to socialize more. His work friend, Archer encourages him to take chances. He has a blind date with Brian. Ryan's little sister, Millie encourgages him to go to a costume party as Captain America. Ironic, since Ryan is a Navy Vet. Corbin approaches a guy, he thinks is Brian, but it's Ryan who he finds madly attractive. They rendevous and Ryan leaves, without exchanging digit. Corbin approached who he thinks is Captain America and finds, this is his real date, the guy with whom he's been communicating. But the first guy was so much fun and checked all his boxes. How can they find each other? How do they explain the mixup? Fun story Keeps you going for a minute. Nicely done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Ryan and Corbin's meet-cute mixup was so cute! Normally I'm a bit skeptical of mistaken identity stories, but a masked Halloween party is the perfect scenario for an accidental connection like this one. Their bathroom hookup was insanely hot, and I was kicking both of them for not making sure they had each other's contact info to stay in touch after that display of chemistry. Luckily their paths crossed again pretty quickly, and it was so cute to see Ryan get all bashful about revealing his identity to Corbin. Their journey may not have been as fully fleshed-out as a full length novel, but it had the perfect amount of steam and plot to keep me invested through the ending!

Halloween is less scary and more steamy

Corbin appeared in Hold The Door and now gets his story. A blind date set up by the mercurial Fletcher (who gets his book next) ends up being worth breaking out the frilly knickers for (or shiny knickers, in this case).
Though this is short, it didn't feel as if it was lacking. We know both men are tired of hookups and want something real and lasting but don't expect to find it that night. The attraction is instant, the lust too, but the night ends unexpectedly for them. What happens next is also unexpected for them but, despite that, it worked for me.
Of course, there are coincidences that could feel contrived but hey, it's a short novella, it's well-written with lovely characters, and a sweet conclusion. It could have been a whole book, because I could easily have spent two hundred-odd pages with them, but I didn't need it to be. It was great just as it was.

Oh wow! This is a sweet and very sexy novella; a perfect quick read. I loved the first book in this series, Hold the Door, where we first meet Corbin. Here is the blind date at a Halloween party that Archer convinces Corbin to attend. Ryan might not be the correct Captain America he was set up with but he was certainly the right one he needed to find! A perfect, love at first sight story with a bit of serendipity and lots of chemistry. This author’s characters really draw you in and make you fall in love!

This short story is such a tease for the whole series.
It makes you want to read everything related to the Open Doors series, that apparently I haven't read yet.
Corbin and Ryan are sweet and delicious together.
Being a novella though, it makes the story somehow unrealistic. The coincidences and the encounters happening are a bit out there, small world and all.
But well, I'm not complaining. We have a cute couple and some steamy times, so there you go!

Thank you @gayromancereview for the ARC.

This book was a great quick read. Although it was short there was some character building. Corbin was going on a blind date with Captain America (Brian). When he turns up at the party he zeros in on Cap and feels an instant connection with leads to an encounter in the bathroom. Corbin then discovers that his Cap (Ryan)is the wrong one and the blind date wanted him for a threesome. Corbin leaves disappointed that he didn't get Cap's phone number. Then a surprise happens the next day and although it's not discovered until later Corbin and his Cap get their HEA

I loved this short but sweet story about mistaken identity and insta-attraction.
Ryan and Corbin are both adorable and it was easy to invest in them getting their HEA. We were given enough information about them to feel like I got to know them as they got to know each other. I found their meeting cute and the way they reconnected even cuter.
There wasn’t anything to dislike about this sweet, fun and sexy story and I will be looking out for more books by this author.
I was given an ARC of this book to review and this is my honest and voluntary opinion.

I loved this story and how they get together in the end. It was a bit unbelievable with the fact that he kept saying someone else's names while talking and Ryan never seemed to catch it, though it happened multiple times. This was my first book by this author and it was well written and easy to follow, will definitely be looking forward to more books. If you are looking for a sweet, funny, and sexy short read, this is the book for you.

A very sweet mix up brings two people together. Ryan and Corbin are good characters that you like immediately. Watching them from beginning to happily ever after was lots of fun. Some spiciness lends itself to the adventure but it’s not the focus which makes the story a little deeper for such a short one. Extremely engaging and easy to read, just a good time over all. A case of mistaken identities. Sometimes fate has to step in to bring two people together. Corbin is supposed to meet Brian who will be wearing a Captain America costume. He heads straight towards the first Captain America he sees. Turns out Brian's not the only one with a Captain America costume. Corbin and Ryan have a steamy bathroom hookup. The two leave with no way to get in touch with each other. They night need for fate to step in. Cute, adorable and heartwarming. I highly recommend.

I really enjoyed this sweet, sexy, and funny mistaken identity romance short story. Corbin is supposed to meet a blind date at a Halloween party. What happens when the guy he meets and hooks up with turns out to NOT be his intended date? Will he be able to find the guy again, and will it lead to a happy ending? I enjoyed this quick read and look forward to more in the series.

I certainly enjoyed this wonderful almost cinderfella story. Corbin finds the man of his dreams. Why would there be more than one Captain America dressed attendee to a Halloween party if San Diego? there wouldn't would there? Thank the good gods Corbin found the right wrong one in Ryan. This quick fun read entertained me the whole way through. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.”

A quick sweet mistaken identity romance

What an absolutely adorable short story! At just around 60 pages it’s what a lot could do in one sitting but it’s totally worth it. Usually with the shorter ones you have to worry about loss of detail or story line but this author does a thorough job on both. Corbin and Ryan are well defined and fit nicely together. I didn’t read book 1 first but I plan to rectify that before book two is released.

Aww, this was cute!

Of course in real life, such coincidences would be unimaginative, but they are really cute in books. I liked both main characters, the chemistry was off the charts and their interactions were sweet and adorable. A great short story to lift the spirits.

This is a funny light hearted story of Corbin (From Open Doors) and Ryan (Millie from Open Doors brother). This is a short story so can't say much other than they are sweet together. I enjoyed finding out a little more of one of the characters from the first book in the series.

This is a sweet m/m mistaken identity short love story. Ryan and Corbin have a chance meeting that neither can forget. And good thing they have more in common then they think because when they have no way to find each other after a spunky sister will get them their second chance. This book was fun a fun sweet and I wanted more more more!

This was a very cute short story in the Open Doors world. I wanted Corbin to get his HEA after meeting him in book 1, and this was an entertaining case of mistaken identity and believable immediate attraction and connection. (I’m still judging Archer about suggesting Brian to begin with, lol.) I loved how everyone had so much fun with the surprise “small world” once they knew about it.
