With summer in full swing and Jenny has been hired to cater a private party for a group of tourists. One of her special treats were sangria popsicles. Unfortunately, not everybody at the party seems to get along. Ella Jo seems to be at the center of most issues, but is thoroughly enjoying the popsicles. By the end of the party, Ella Jo had eaten so many of the popsicles that she was quite drunk and very unstable on her feet. Fortunately, she seemed to have a couple of people watching out for her.
After the party, Jenny and her friends are eating some food that Billy brought and cleaning up, when they hear sirens approaching the hotel. The manager tells them they need to stay put, but does not know what has happened. When Adam enters the area where Jenny and her friends are, he informs them that Ella Jo Harris is dead. It may have been an accident, but Adam did not think so.
Was Ella Jo's death an accident or murder? If murder, who killed her? Why was she killed? Can Jenny sort out fact from fiction to uncover the truth?
Leena Clover has another winner with Jenny's latest adventure. Some of the characters feel like close friends while others are people you would prefer to avoid if at all possible. There are plenty of twists, turns, and red herrings to keep the reader fully engaged to the very end.
Jenny's husband, Jason is going to be in France for the summer helping another attorney. Jenny could have gone along but she didn't feel like she could leave the cafe that long. But she hopes to get over there for a couple of weeks. A group of tourists has arrived in Pelican Cove. They all arrive at the Boardwalk Cafe with questions about the menu and make arrangements for all to go there for lunch. Things go well for a time but then someone in the group passes away. It turns out the person was murdered. Did someone in their group do it? Someone local? A tourist from another group? Sheriff Adam asks Jenny for her help in solving the case. Jenny's ex shows up in town. He is making a habit of spending time with Jenny. What does he want? Is he up to no good? And what will happen to the wild horses? Pick up a copy and come along with Jenny and the gang. Find out how these complicated situations get taken care of. Delightful characters, a plot well planned out and the story is very well written. Very enjoyable and a must-read. I voluntarily received a copy of the book from the author and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.
When a Pelican Cove tourist is murdered, Jenny and the Magnolias are on the case. Lots of plot twists and interesting characters make this a fun read. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next one. I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a voluntary, unbiased review.
This book as all the previous Pelican Cove books was both fun and waiting for the mystery to unfold but not to end quite so soon. The. Magnolias are a diverse group of friends who make reading the books enjoyable, sisterhood without being sisters. I look forward to the next exciting Pelican Cove mystery! Please keep writing! I have read all your books and look forward to many more!
Jenny's husband goes overseas to help another attorney for the summer while Jenny remains in Pelican Cove to run the Boardwalk Café. A group of tourists become "regulars" at the café and soon a murder in their group has Jenny working with Adam to untwist all the stories and search for the culprit. This is a series based on a group of friends in Pelican Cove that generally help Jenny out at the café and go along with her sleuthing. Personalities are realistic, with sometimes sweet and other times abrasive comments. But in the end, they can count on each other, and that makes the fictional community seem very real. A complex murder situation and so many surprises results in an exciting read, and one that kept me guessing up to the end. Definitely one of the series' best stories. And as always, I marvel at the food Jenny and Star make at work and at home. Hard to read this series if you are hungry! Delightful book!
The temperature is heating up so Jenny starts making alcohol flavored popsicles. These soon become a huge hit. A visiting group from a nearby town asks Jenny to cater an anniversary celebration for one of the couples . One of the guests is found murdered. When one of Jenny's popsicles is found laced with poison near the body, she decides that she and the Magnolias need to find why and how the woman was killed. As with most of these books, there is also another storyline which includes the town. This time the town has been visited with unwelcome visitors. Jason is in France helping a friend with a legal matter. I still feel let down that his daughter is no longer even mentioned in the series.
Jenny is missing her husband, Jason who is working in France. Right now it is summertime in Pelican Cove and the cafe is busy with all the tourists. Jenny is asked to cater a group of tourists. They are planning a party for a couple in their group. They have asked for her delicious popsicles. Before the night of the party is over, someone in the group is found dead. Was it an accident? One of Jenny's popsicles is found in the room with the body. Who would want to kill this lady. Yes, she was rather rude, but was it bad enough to commit murder? Enjoy another chapter in the Pelican Cove series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Pretty much the same. Some inconsistencies - like the Troy guy is the victim's cousin early in the book but becomes her brother towards the end. I liked that Jenny is getting along with Adam again. It's obvious why Billy is hanging around but it's not disclosed in this book but come on - I saw this coming from when he was first introduced & who he would end up with. There's no surprises in these books.
Leena Clover has winner after winner with her Pelican Cove series. I'm not sure I could pick one book that I considered "the best" of them all so far. I know the series is coming to a close in the next book or two and I look forward to Ms. Clover winding up any loose ends to satisfy us readers! For anyone who hasn't read the last 13 installments, I implore you to get started now!
I just loved this whimsical book. The characters were both funny and represented so many people in every suburbia community. The plot was intertwined with details but left plenty of room for speculation, and sleuthing. I am surprised to mix murder mystery with slight comedy. By the way, remind me to try the sangria popsicles when I’m on vacation. Sounds delicious.
Really enjoy reading this series. Each book is so good. Well written with fantastic characters & beautiful beach setting. Lots going on in this one for Jenny & her friends. Pick up a copy to see how it all plays out. I look forward to reading the next book.
Once again a brilliant mystery. Do much going on. Not just murders by lots of love. It's so nice to read a book thats not full of bad language and nasty innuondos. Can't wait to read the next one.
Another who done it by Leena Clover. Besides the mystery she includes the town and its people into each story. This one had horses, boyfriends, and 2 bodies. Hope you enjoy this series as much ad as I have.
Another visit to Pelican Bay. Jenny is missing Jason Whois in France. Her ex husband Billy keeps appearing too, which annoys both her and Star. A group of visitors make an appearance & ask Jenny to do a dinner for them. She does & whilst clearing up a murder is discovered! The victim has had oodles of the popsicles & was fairly drunk! There are so many people who could be the murderer. But this time Adam the Sheriff asks Jenny to help. She does a good job & finds a few clues to help. The ending was good! Murderer was caught & Jenny off to France.
Characters are evolving nicely. Plot has nicely twists and turns. Once again I was surprised with the ending. Reading the next to find out who? I won't ruin it!
Lots of twists and turns- author changed the relationship of two characters along the way from cousins to siblings…still a good storyline and well written
When a neighborhood from another city take their vacation at Pelican Cove. So complicated this lady interested in another man, vice versa. Sometimes hard to keep who's who.
Another great book. I love following the adventures of Jenny and her "gang" solving murder mysteries, as well as Jenny's romance. I'm looking forward to the next great book!
