Dance is Juliette Havens’ whole life.
Or at least, it used to be. Before she sustained a life-altering, dream-shattering knee injury that forced her to drop out of one of New York’s most prestigious universities. Now she’s back in her hometown and struggling to adapt to her new life. And the idea of a whole new future.
When an opportunity to audition for a local band’s music video arises, Juliette takes it as a chance to perform one last time. She never expects to find herself forging a friendship with four guys in a pop-punk band…or falling for handsome drummer, Landon Best.

Smith is one of those authors that is like my favorite ice cream - I know whenever I read one of her books it's going to be delicious and I'll keep coming back for more. Smith's stories are clean and appropriate for any age, and her characters are quirky, fun people I wish I knew in real life. Though it changes every time I read a book, my current book boyfriend would have to be Landon, the man crush who is the center of this story. I love Juliette, and her relationship with Landon is so much fun to read. And the rest of the band is a hoot as well. I would love to read more about them in future novels (hint, hint). One of my favorite parts of the book is how each chapter begins - with lyrics from one of the bands mentioned in the story. Oh, and by the way, I love the band name Voilà Violet!!

Some of my favorite passages from the book:

"Your favorite color
Is the summertime
And I love the smell
Of sea spray in your hair"

"They're called Crosstimber and their sound is like a nuclear explosion of white-hot anger and electric discord."

"Take me back
To when each moment
Felt like forever
And I wished for
A never-ending
Ever after..."

"Living for what we love is the only way the world makes sense."

"And I just want to love you
But I know
You're dying to breathe..."

Oh my, what a read. And I love how Jacky is somehow not only able to write a book with an amazing story, but is also able to start 29 (!) chapters with song lyrics, from diverse bands with diverse albums. Jacky dear, if you ever get enough of telling stories (please don't), you could always become a song writer. And how awesome was it to meet Mel and the guys of The Kind of September as well.

The last chapter was such a good twist and had me in happy tears. Makes me wish I was a ballerina with a recovered injury just to find a pop punk bands music video audition to go to. I’m in love with Juliette and Landon’s story!!!!

Does Juliette Risk It All For Her Dreams?

Juliette Haven’s life took a tragic turn. As a dancer all her life, her future was pulled out from underneath her when a devastating knee injury ripped it all away. Starting over again, she is presented with an opportunity that could change everything. The problem? No one in her current life would approve. Does she take the chance? Find out!

Jacqueline Smith does an amazing job of telling the story from Juliette’s perspective. She makes you feel like you are taking this journey with her. You feel her dreams, doubts, fears, concerns, joys, and the weight of her choices. She doesn’t stop there. Smith makes sure to take you on the journey of the band as well. If possible, I would give this a 4.5. The storyline is well thought-out. The characters are well-rounded and individual in their characteristics. Follow along with the gang to see how their journeys combine!

This is the 5th book I've read of Jacqueline's (the first four being the Boy Band series). I've been reading a lot of "band" books lately and I normally don't read a lot of romance, but this is more than a romance. It's about doing what you love and having the strength to follow through on your dreams. There was a point in the book where my heart just fell (I won't spoil things). It was a nice surprise to see Mel and The Kind of September in the book! Once again, you'll laugh, you'll gasp, and you'll cheer Juliette and Sacramento Reign on in this book!

I absolutely loved this book. It was such a heartwarming story. I loved loved LOVED Landon!

Not to add spoilers but the ending had me sobbing…. Iykyk 🥹🫶

Really wish there would’ve been an epilogue a couple years later to check in with the band and J&L’s love story 🫶
