Hi! I'm Laurel, I love all things fantasy, magic, and sci-fi, so you may find that my books have surprising twists that you didn't see coming.

I'm an avid traveller and adventurer, and I find my travels inspire stories I want to write! I have an amazing daughter and we currently live in the shadows of the Smoky Mountains. I love a good craft cocktail, sunny beaches and snowy slopes, and a cozy chair with a nearby fireplace for the perfect read.

Book is very speculative & could have been condensed

Probably 2/3 of this book is the characters speculating about what could have happened in the past and speculating about what can happen in the future. I’d much rather have some meat to the story where the mating is challenged by an ex or the clan. No one challenges the dissolution of the clans? Seriously? Basically, the main points of this story could have easily been condense into the book before this.

Spoilers below:
Also, why is it automatically assumed that because her scent changed its because she’s pregnant? Did she not just take the potion? Oh, her scent is immediately different after taking said potion? Further proof - king drinks her blood and now the wraiths are dead …hello! Scent - blood…has no one ever read a vampire book?

dnf. The series had a good start during book 1. I felt like the writing & plot went wrong from the 2nd to 4th book. I really tried to finish the last book, but I’ve been skipping a lot of parts, and it just felt like it wasn’t worth it anymore.

So, the first kid looked like Kaliya, so they couldn’t determine parentage, but the second kid, was it Emory’s or Taika’s???

The journey with kali and her mates started really good! Interesting, a page-turner for sure! But then on the last 2 books... it was... uneventful.
It felt like the ending of divergent. If you read it you know zhe explanation of everything was just bs just like the explanation of the entire reason that kali and her mates were set on this pointless journey to defeat an evemy in the most bizarre way.

I didn't like it. It didn't entertain me. I didnt understand it. It bored me. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop but it never did. Waiting for that climax! That stress! That turning point! But nothing... I didn't even get the fuzzy feelings I love so much and that I had at the beginning with the first 2 books.... you know??

Not to mention the fact that they barelyyyyyyyy shifted in the entireeeeee story of the 4 books!!

Ugh

This is the end of the road for Kaliya and her mates, possibly the end of everybody. Kaliya and her mates have come a long way since they met. Rowan has come so far, possibly the furthest. He was so closed off and angry at the world, but finding Kaliya, bonding with the others has really brought out his true self. Stig is the best kind of house husband, he’d much rather take care of everybody and have a million kids than be fighting ever day. His drive to feed everybody massive amounts of food is so funny and reminds me of my grandma, in a good way. Insecurities are addressed, battles are fought, crazy things happen. One thing I would have liked would be to get an epilogue that’s much further down the road, I want to know what happens to them in 10 years, or 20.

**SPOILERS**

While I do think this series was wrapped up a little too neatly for how it started, I'm not unsatisfied. Kali is still the fiesty Queen she's always been and her guys are sweet as usual. Loved the progression of events and that the Elders were punished at the end.

Biggest complaint was that the pregnancy thing wasn't something that added to the story for me. She'd taken a super old, dodgy sounding magical potion from the Ancients that basically cursed the world as they know it, and the guys don't think it could alter her body's chemistry for a while? Maybe it's just me? 😂😂

This is the fourth and final book in this series, The Warrior Queen Legacy. The writing is just as brilliant as the previous four books, if not better.

I loved the amount of character growth we got to see in this book, across all our main characters, not just Kali.

In the previous books, it felt like the emotions of the characters were muted, and that was a result of their being 'not-quite-human'. Like somehow, as a result of their mutation, they were more logical and less driven by their emotions than 'regular humans'. This book seems to take that filter away. I don't know if that was intentional, or if L Night was just more comfortable and confident writing those emotions more out in the open for the characters. It's not that they're sharing their emotions more with each other (though that DOES happen later in this book and with good reason), but also, they're just more open in their own internal dialogues about their emotions with the reader and it was very nice to read.

The pacing of this book was really comfortable to read. I've definitely read other series where the pacing in the final book is off because we've finally gotten to 'the final boss' (to steal a gaming term) and that changes the tension and buildup and climax pacing in a book. That is NOT the case here. This book moves comfortably without losing its grip on the reader. It's an enjoyable read without making me feel like it's gripping the lapels of my mind and pinning me to read (which is nice too, but not all the time, ya know?).

There is mention of pregnancy and children/pups in this book. Just something to keep in mind if that is something you actively look for or avoid. I will say if you're the type (like me) to be generally avoidant of pregnancy/babies I wouldn't let that dissuade you from this one as it's not integral to the story and is mostly only present in what is effectively the "epilogue" (though it's actually just the last couple chapters).

The heat in this book was more and better than in book 3. In the third book, we got our first taste of intimate moments between our main characters, and it was almost clinical. And honestly, it worked for the characters, so I didn't mind it. In this book, as our FMC is more confident in herself and her relationships, the heat level intensifies a little. Is it the sexiest book you'll read this month? No. But it makes sense for this story and these characters. And there are some surprising twists when it comes to some of the characters' preferences 'in the bedroom' (even if they're often NOT in the bedroom because this is a future world where they sleep outside in tree houses all the time).

I'm very glad this is how this saga was concluded. The characters, even the side characters from the first book, get very solid endings and no one strings are left untied. I definitely would recommend this book and series for reading.

such a disappointment…
Damn … this book never stop surprising me , ok I didn’t believe when in the first book said the humans were extinct… come on guys everyone knows us humans are a plague hahaha Wraiths ? They have no chance of killing every human on earth , so now that we know about this human community everything makes sense , but what really astonished me is that them after everything still fallows the Bible ? Oh come on !! But makes sense the wolves in their human part , for so long were also blinded by the concept the Elders were full of knowledge , the Elders are like the Bible for the Wolf people, see ? A bunch of half truths with a lot of space for misguided interpretation.

Even if it meant risking being too late to save Emory. There was a much bigger world out there, and we only had one chance to get this right.

And this is why she is the right person, you know normally a person could just put the world in flames to save someone you love , but not our girl she knows she has to think bigger , damn it’s like uncle Ben from Spider Man, with great powers comes great responsibility or something like this hahaha . I’m not surprised that the Elders don’t know much too , how could they ? The Scientist damn said they’re weren’t there when the Ancients doomed the world , and I can understand it , finding books written by different authors and trying to make sense of how save the world? This is damn difficult.

Damn it’s incredible how this book explains everything, it’s just brilliant because we can understand, damn I always loved studying genetics and it’s a masterpiece this explanation . I can understand why Kali is pissed but sweetheart this can look ruthless but were the only safe way .

Mateo popped up and went to stand by Em, pulling up his shirt and revealing his lean brown stomach. There was no trace of muscled abdominals, hidden by the distention of his full belly. “Okay, I admit it. I’m pregnant too!” Emory snorted, then watched Stig for a change of expression. Without warning, Rowan and Taika both stood, lifting their shirts and pressing out their bellies. “I think I’m further along than you,” Taika mused, rubbing the mahogany skin of his stomach and comparing its size to Mateo’s. “I’m due any day!” Rowan announced with pride, his belly glaringly white compared to the others.

Hahahahaha I’m laughing so har right now !!! Poor Stig these guys are too much hahaha. OMG sweet Emory … well well well I won’t lie , I’m impressed with Emory … so savage … damn .

Ok this was such a wonderful series but I can’t lie I’m more than a little disappointed at the ending, everything was smooth and all but that last battle? That was a damn great disappointment… seriously… I don’t know what I can say more but argh … the book was going so well seriously I’m more than a little pissed … in every book of the series we had a little about the wolves and all the culture , but in this one ? The focus was the humanity of the Wolf people and we didn’t even had a little of the part I liked more … you know with the serum I thought they could fight the wraith in Wolf form and that was going to be epic ..but no … everything just went to shit.

I kept thinking, throughout much of my reading of this series, that the Wraith King would turn out to be . I was wrong, and it was almost like this was a red herring that went nowhere. But that could be in my imagination - maybe nobody else ever had the idea that he might be "the one". Anyway ... this was a satisfying read with everything finally coming to a head. I sort of guessed what might happen, to some extent, but not in the exact way that it happened.

I liked a lot of aspects of this series, and some other aspects were just a bit silly, at least in terms of characters being in the right place at the right time, threads that you thought were going somewhere ending up going nowhere, and so on.

Again, I reiterate that reverse harem isn't really my thing. Nor is harem, for the record. :P In particular I find reverse harem to generally present a female character that is a bit Mary Sue-esque, and I've never liked that type of character. I like reading about characters who are maybe not special to most, but are absolutely special to at least one other person, for reasons.

I should stop rambling now and finish the review! (Hope I don't get so far behind on my reviews again for a good long while)

How did the “electric” blades stay viable? Nothing was said about them being solar or using any other mechanism to restore their energy. They just seemed to have a never ending charge. When did Emory have time to create five other sets of the red/purple glowing swords for the rest of their group? I’m no expert but it seems to me that the creation of a sword takes days and weren’t they back just one night before the wraith attack?

Why didn’t they have bows and arrows? It’s not like they didn’t have access to trees and animal sinew. It would have made firing the lit accelerant so much more effective. Also, hunting.

This wrapped up in a nice, neat HEA. Okay but not an edge of your seat read.

3.5

I do think this book had a lot of filler that could have been condensed down, but I did end up liking the series as a whole! I do wish there was more of how they ended up functioning as a family at the end when all the fighting was over with. Did they end up going back to visit the ocean or any of the other men’s previous homes? How did the clan work afterwards with no alphas? Just a little more of the life afterwards would have been great vs some of the stuff in the beginning!

🐺 CW:

🐺 Alright, I can now answer the question: Is there any MM in the harem?

🐺 I liked the conclusion to the over-all plot with the Wraiths. It didn't blow my mind, but was pretty satisfying.

🐺 The jealousy problem was mostly gone this book. If there's one thing I actively dislike about RH, is when guys continue to be jealous of each other and its never resolved. It mostly is by the end here.
I knew on some level I should be bothered by the fact that she'd already mated two the others, but I didn't even care.

🐺 A femdom moment 🥵

🐺 Not enough steam for this long a slowburn
I was fully into the slowburn of this story. It really allowed the characters, personalities, and dynamics to be established. But I really don't like that we only get sex scene with each guy, except for Mateo who also had a scene in book 3. We see Kali mating each of them, but that's it.
The steam in book 3 I'd already found a little... on the boring side? It was much better and hotter in book 4, but count yourself how many guys were left...
Maybe my smut meter is just broken, but this didn't feel satisfying after such a long slowburn. Look, I just wanted a celebratory orgy at the end of the book. Is that too much to ask?

🐺 The guys becoming close friends was super lovely.
"But if you want to talk about it, I'm here. We're all here for each other, not just for Kaliya."

Final thoughts
While I liked a lot of the conclusion for this series, it didn't wow me either. The series was also very close to over-staying its welcome for me. I'm happy it wrapped up now.
I'm a little disappointed that it was so low steam, but 🤷, it what it is. Settling on 3,5 stars rounded down, since I rounded up last book.

The end of a dark, long night

Wow. This series has certainly been a journey! I have to say that I am sad to see Kali and her alphas go, but I'm really happy with how Laurel ended this series. We not only got a happy ending, but also tons of character development, additional mystery to the already confusing situation the group was in regarding the wraiths, much more steam than was present in the previous books, and of course, some action!

Since the beginning of this series, Kali and her guys have come such a long way and you really see this in this final book. Emotions are much more obvious and are expressed more willingly as well. This group has learned that being open and honest with one another is the best way to approach anything that comes up, and you get several sweet moments because of this. After everything that has happened between them all, there is finally complete forgiveness and acceptance.

What I really loved about this group of characters is that even after the little bit of tension and mating issues in the earlier parts of the series, they eventually developed such a tight familial bond with one another. Although Kali was what linked them, they each had a role and an importance, not just to her, but to the group as a whole. If one guy had left or something happened to them it would affect the entire group the same way missing a limb would.

Over this series, there was one thing that always annoyed me: the Elders. It was beyond frustrating the hoops they made Kali and her men jump through along with the ridiculous riddles and advice they gave without giving any real information or assistance. I hated how they were essentially manipulating Kali, her guys, and the packs every step of the way, eventually backing Kali into a corner with only one logical option to choose. If you're like me, you'll be happy to know they get their comeuppance eventually. Thank goodness.

I really hope that Laurel does more with this world that she has created. I would definitely be up for reading about more characters and groups in the aftermath of the end of the wraiths. I keep coming back to the group of humans and I think it would be very interesting to see something with them, whether it be a woman adventuring outside of their hiding spot to learn about the current world or even a wolf going in there to learn more and developing something with one or more of the people there. It could be interesting to see the two species blend a bit. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Fortunately or unfortunately, this is the last book in "The Alpha Queen Legacy"-series. I'm happy that it ends and there is a HEA. But I'm torn in some ways, too, and wished there isn't an end. Alas, we all know every book or series has an ending.

But back to the topic. The review. I don't do spoilers, so I will keep it generally. It was as good as all the previous books in this series before. I liked how Laurel Night tried a different ankle to an apocalyptic world. I would say, too, it's a different POV to 'vampires' (that's what the Wraiths were for me in some way) against 'werewolves' setting. It was unusual, but really well written, and I felt it all. The society. Their beliefs and hopes. The relationship between Kali and her guys. The suffering, they all got through. It was a fantastic journey.

And that's with the fact, that I normally don't read much slow burn. I have told why in a previous review of this series. But slow burn has its perks. Like the world and relationship building. But it lacks in some points, too. That's ok. I have no problem to love the perfect imperfection. That's why every review is subjective, even if you tried to be objective. Because what one might like, another simply don't.

But I really loved it. For me it was a good read, I will remember quite some time. How long this might be. I have to mention, too, that I was a little upset with the epilogue. I was hoping to get to know more. And that it would be more in the future. What about the humans and all? But maybe there will be some day more stories about this world.

I absolutely adored Legacy Fulfilled the conclusion to the Alpha Queen Legacy series, it was perfect. Laurel delivered with the drama, suspense, love and a satisfying ending.

As with the previous 3 books in the series, Legacy Fulfilled is beautifully written and well-paced. It was wonderful to see the growth in all the main characters, and how they have developed into a family they never realised they needed until the emptiness in their hearts disappeared. Each mate brings their own dynamic to the group and as a whole they are a force to be reckoned with. Now there are still 3 mate bonds to complete, so this book has more spice in it than the previous ones. The way the mates in question responded during these scenes was surprising but not unpleasant.

Throughout this book you really see Kali accept and grow into her role as Alpha Queen. She is not rash in making huge decisions and listens to the opinions of those around her. She wants what is best for the clans and justice for all the lies and deceptions that have been feed to everyone for generations from the Elders.

The serum/antidote is all very mysterious and everyone is still clueless on how it might work. So, the mission to end the Wraith King and his creepy minions and how Kali and her mates were going to achieve that had me guessing to the very end.

Thank you Laurel for taking me on an amazing adventure!

Great ending

I held off on starting the final book of the series following book 3, as it was definitely not my favourite book and I was getting quite annoyed with the FMC.

However, knowing this was the final book and still interested in finishing this series I finally started it. I enjoyed this book much more.

There are a lot of things I like about this book and this series. This book combines elements that I enjoy, shifter, RH in a dystopian world. I thought the unique storyline and world building was good. I liked the fact that sex scenes weren't gratuitous or more important than the storyline. For any authors out there, if you put long winded sex scenes within the last few chapters of a book I skim over them to get back to the story. In this book they were there for purpose.

All 4 books led to this point, the mysteries, the unknown, the journey. I suspected for most of this book how the wraith king and other night stalkers would be taken down and I was correct, but we had lots of small hints so not too hard. I still enjoyed it however, and I thought the ending was good. I'm also glad to have another series finished with.

The prophecy states that if the Wraith King gets the potion that it will spell doom for the world. Yet... he did? He got it right from Kaliya's blood. Kind of like the immortal cure in the TV version of Vampire Diaries. It's in the changed person's blood until it's removed, and then they rapidly age to what their true age should be. The Wraith King biting Kaliya should have doomed the world because he got the potion, technically. But it was a fluke and they won? Yay?

It would have been better if the potion, combined with Kaliya's bonds with her mates, had bestowed powers or abilities that allowed her to defeat the wraiths. This seemed more like dumb luck.

I'll just include a trigger warning for miscarriage. Considering she had just taken this magical potion, I wasn't convinced that she was pregnant (especially because none of them noticed her scent had changed until they started joking about food babies. I mean, seriously?), and her "pregnancy scent" went away after the battle, so it could go either way, but here's a warning anyway.

Kind of a let down of a final battle. The epilogue was fine, except that Kaliya is shooting babies out of her hoo-haw at a breakneck pace.

Legacy Fulfilled is the final book in the Alpha Queen Legacy and it concludes this fantastic story that draws readers in from the start with the interesting plot and engaging characters and does not let go until the final page. This series is written by new to me author Laurel Night and is set in a post-apocalyptic, dystopian world where wolf colonies live in the ruin of the Ancient’s mistakes and as a result are terrorised by creatures in the night.

The Alpha Queen Legacy is a slow burn, reverse harem which develops over a number of books. It is written from all perspectives which I particularly enjoy as it allows readers to see the story from all sides. The characters in this series are well written each being given a distinct ‘voice’ so that when you read their chapters they stand out among the rest. Laurel Night is an amazing writer and I love each of the characters, from Kali’s strong female lead, Emory’s gentle intelligence and unwavering support to the variety the Alphas bought to the dynamic due to their Pack differences.

Alpha Queen Legacy is an action packed, suspense and drama filled paranormal romance that is sure to keep shifter fans happy. It’s innovative spin on shifters, the apocalypse and slow burn romance keep you guessing how this book is going to end. I would definitely recommend this for readers who enjoy any of the tropes mentioned above.

Wahhhhh, don't go!

This book was obviously, by far, my favorite. Could it be because it was the finale and we got the hea? Who knows, but it was amazing. This entire series was amazing! From the very beginning I was hooked. We had a badass female who lived in a society that really didn't give u a choice of how to live except for the way they wanted u to. In a society that was run by males, it made it difficult for our dominant female to be anything except a shadow of herself. Then came the solstice and the start of the grand scheme that would take 6 individuals on a dangerous adventure of finding a way to navigate their new found mate status along with finding a way to finally end the danger their societies constantly lived with. While it didn't have a ton of steam in this series, it was exactly how I expected it to be...A story that was focused not only on the budding and development of the relationship, but also on the obstacles they each faced as individuals and as a whole group. I definitely recommend this!!

A great end to this series and I’m so sad it is over!

I genuinely thought that there would be a moment where the Wraith King and Kali would have a conversation considering that he is the most intellectual wraith but that didn’t happen.

I was wracking my brain the whole time trying to figure out how this potion would kill the wraiths and then it made sense towards the end because it’s basically an antidote but because it’s so small it had to be ingested by one to then affect the others. I originally thought the potion might have been something magical but it’s just like a vaccine that creates an airborne antidote to kill the wraiths. It would have been nice if they would have saved some of the fallen warriors who hadn’t turned because they managed to save Emory but that was because of the mate bond I think whereas there wasn’t s connection to the fallen warriors.

Anyways it’s a great book, a great end to the series and ties up all the loose ends.

I am sad it’s over but I will re read this series in the future

Legacy Fulfilled is the epic conclusion to this amazing series!

Kaliya and her mates have finally finished their quest for the cure and now have to prepare for the battle with the Wraith King and his night walkers.
I loved this book and I was sitting on the edge of my seat with anticipation of what would happen. The world building in each book in the series leading up to this one was amazing. It was great to see how each of Kaliya’s mates brought a different set of skills or traits to their group and I loved how they all got along together as a family.
Legacy Fulfilled was a remarkable read and was a fitting end to this great series and I am sad it has ended. The Alpha Queen Legacy series is a slow-burn romance, with a strong, fierce warrior FMC and has plenty of sexy wolf shifters. I highly recommend reading it.

This series was a pretty slow read for me, but still enjoyable. I'm interested to see where Ms. Night goes in her next book series.

I really enjoyed the family dynamic of this series, especially how they all contributed something to their team, sort of like a party of various classes in a video game, which was great. Healing (cleric), strength (tank/damage), serenity (bard), and the rest included all of a cohesive unit that is just awesome when you think about it. I don't know if the author planned it like that, but when I thought of them during battle and the way they support each other out of battle like in an MMORPG it just clicked.

As I said before I absolutely love the family dynamic, even if the reverse harem thing is sometimes awkward until they work it out the way they need it to. Loved the epilogue, too.

This is a very predictable but satisfyingly conclusion to this series! It's a fun and gripping read and keeps you engaged. There is some stressful moments.

I think the world building is fun, but gets a bit stuck after the first book. I think there is a sense that the elders have committed this great crime, but it isn't really given enough room to really be explored.

I would have loved more of an epilogue looking further into the future. I loved how the group came together as family.

There are lots of plot holes left open I think, but that's not surprising because of the length of the books. The world building in the first one promised a lot more than the series could deliver.

However, if you like shifters and quests, you will probably enjoy this! If you are looking for an abundance of why choose spice, this won't do it for you!

Black Death

Legacy Fulfilled is book four in the series The Warrior Queen Legacy by author Laurel Night. Absolutely brilliant- this book - this series - amazing. Ok firstly let talk about this book. It’s intense and dramatic, suspenseful and action packed. There are some brutal scenes- loss. Yet with every dark tunnel there is light at the end. These characters have their own unique personalities that draw you in. It’s thrilling.
Ok so the series is a slow burn but that’s what is compelling- it pulls you into the storyline and you realize it’s ok without all the steamy scenes. Oh you do get them eventually yet they just add to the flavor of the books.
All four books are like a journey into the unknown-and if you can make it past all the obstacles and then there’s hope. That’s what this book gives you hope.
Enjoy!!

Hmm was okay

I thought the series was ok. It could definitely use another round of editing.
Some areas were a bit repetitive, which was a bit boring.
The development of the relationship after Kali accepted her mates was underwhelming. So much effort was made in the slow burn, but after there is nothing. A single sentence about Kali jumping her mates and that's it. Disappointing.

I guess this author isn't comfortable with writing sex scenes or developing complex sexual relationships.
The character development of some of the men wasn't enough specifically in regards to the dynamic..ie Mateo was a dog, shagging about his pack. His character is all about the physical which is emphasized throughout the book. Yet somehow he is designated the "Heart" of the 6 mate relationship. Doesn't jibe.

What an ending!!

Laurel certainly didn’t disappoint us with her ending for the Alpha Queen and her mates.
After a treacherous return trip to the fortress, Kaliya and the men were given a very brief respite before trouble began anew. Warren brings to,their attention the huge amounts of wraiths collecting along the far side of the river that guards the fortress. Strange noises in the dark, sounds of trees falling, nothing good could come from these actions. And Kali, with her sixth sense where the wraiths are concerned, knows the big battle is imminent. Especially after seeing the King Wraith. Adorned in armor, however ill fitting as it is, seems to have galvanized the thousands upon thousands of wraiths.
You must read this final battle yourself. And make sure you don’t miss the epilogue! It’s awesome!!!

All good things must come to an end...Kaliya and her pack are finally getting some answers to what the elders have been plotting for centuries. Told to go on one last side quest to get the tool to both end the wraiths and save Emory's life they head off to unknown territory where they find humans thought long extinct and a unknown elixir that the Ancients say will save the day. I really enjoyed this series finale. A lot of questions are answered and the packs are left in what seems to point in a peaceful future. I do wonder what will happen now that they can rebuild without fighting for their lives daily. Some how I just can't see our warrior queen just lounging around lol. Sad it is over but I enjoyed the ride!
