Club DeSires #3

Surrendering Desire

Rate this book
Working at Club DeSires gives Danny what he needs, but that's no longer enough when he can't resist obeying Blake's commands.

What better way to mend a broken heart than to jump on a bus for a town where no one knows what a fool he'd been? Annandale was more than he'd ever dreamed of having, especially after he landed a job at a kink club. There, he could get what he craved without having to risk his heart again.

It was a great plan, until the night Blake walked up to the bar and saw through his facade. Now, he'll have to decide if he's going to fall to his knees or walk away.

Best of the series

My favorite of the series. I really enjoyed the kinks explored but I was kind of left wanting more. Like it felt like things were hinted at, but left unexplored.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I liked this book but it was definitely my least favourite of the series. Danny has been hurt by his ex so he finds it hard to trust. Blake has been helping couples with different B*SM scenes at Club Desires for months now and has been trying to get Danny one of the bartenders to give him a chance as he can see that he’s been hurt and wants to help him but he’s really standoffish, it isn’t until Mav goes up to Danny and asks if he wants to do a scene with him, his d*ddy John and Blake as Mav has noticed that Danny always seems so sad when he sees all the D/s together, and they just want to help him not be sad for at least awhile. Danny agrees and their chemistry together was off the charts. After this it helps Danny realise that even though Blake is into some heavier B*SM stuff he was really caring to Danny after their scene with Mav and John, so he knew he could trust him plus Danny thought that all the times that Blake asked how he was doing wasn’t just him worrying about the bartender but actually wanting to get to know him. They decide to see where it goes between them.

Due to Danny’s past it takes him forever to realise how much Blake cares about him plus he holds on to his independence like his apartment even though he doesn’t spend much time there but it’s understandable after his last relationship ended he had nothing since it was his boyfriend who looked after him so he was homeless as his boyfriend owned their apartment/house. I’m glad that Blake understood this even if it made him a bit sad what Danny had been through. He just wants him to be happy. I just felt that there’s something missing and I couldn’t pin point why. This book set up the spin-off series since Danny and Blake have moved from Annandale to Danny’s hometown of Harmony Grove since he missed his family too much so Blake offered to come with him if he moved back. I’m hoping that Justice gets a story or even more from John’s brother Stephen’s MC end up being queer. I’m looking forward to reading the Harmony Grove Series when it comes out and that it holds my interest more than this series did. I’m also hoping that two of Danny’s brother’s will get books since they’re queer as well. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.

Sweet book with mild BSDM; even though the characters are ostensibly into heavy kink and rough sex, there's really only one scene that read as heavy on the kink for me.

A lot of reiterating that they were partners, that Danny (the sub) had power in the relationship- not bad things, and the amount that they talked about it makes sense for their characters and their relationship, but it did take away some of the feeling that they actually were in the type of power-exchange relationship that they were.

One note about a positive author interaction I had regarding this book- Danny has the hots for cops, so I wrote the author an email about it:
"...With increased awareness about how badly BIPOC, trans, and yes, gay people (as well as many other groups) are treated by cops, I feel like it's not the most appropriate profession to showcase right now, unless you're trying to demonstrate that your character is right-wing..."

The author wrote back within a half hour:
"...that's actually why I brainstormed a different profession for Blake and made it a very minimal passing moment. I also refuse to have any sort of "I'm the cop and you're the bad guy" role playing for the same reason.
That said, I did leave that bit in there because it showed just how misguided Danny was at the beginning. All he knew was badge and hot, Dominant man, and that's where his mind went..."

Warnings: contains past abuse, fingers going from A2M, group sex, medical play, chastity play

I think too many important moments happened off-page for me to really care about Blake and Danny’s story? It was like we were just told ‘days passed, we spent time together and he gained my trust’. Suddenly they’re talking about moving in together and I feel like they’re still on their first weekend in a new relationship. :/

My other big issue was the drama back home with Danny’s ex. I feel like the author maybe didn’t have a plan when they started and then couldn’t remember what they’d previously written?
Was this an abusive relationship or just a bad match?? Danny at one point thinks about how his ex ‘separated him from his support system’, says he came home one day and Michael already had Danny’s bags packed to kick him out and there are a couple of times infidelity was implied but then Danny’s family are buddy buddy with the ex? And it’s all water under the bridge now?
IF that was all meant to have been misunderstanding, it didn’t come across well or with clear intent.
(Also what the f was with his family letting him get ambushed like that? Completely not okay, there’s no reason they couldn’t have warned him. It feels like maybe setting up Danny’s brother and his ex and idk, maybe Danny got closure but idk if I’d want to read that book..)

Never again

I am usually a fan of both this author and this particular series. Sadly, this installment really let me down. The whole thing felt like a throw away meant to pacify readers while we wait for a better story to come along. The characters were weak, the love scenes and kink were cheesy, and the whole thing had an overall rushed feeling that didnt sit well with me. The only reason for 2 stars is the lack of grammatical errors and the positive way she handled the dialogue. Here's hoping the next one is back to 5 star quality.

I loved this!!!

It was great to see Danny’s side of the scene with Mav and John. But seeing Blake and Danny grow was the best. I am not going to give any spoilers but I will say it had me happy and sad crying plus left me with questions too. Another stellar read by sn amazing author. They know just what we want and deliver ten fold.

A really heartwarming story

This was just a lovely story that I couldn’t put down.
Danny just fits with Blake so well, their chemistry is great and I always love the cameos of those who have appeared in earlier stories.

Loved it!

I enjoyed Danny and Blake’s story! This is a wonderful addition to the DeSire series and it looks to be the introduction to a new series as well. I’m not sure if I want Justice’s story first or Michael’s!

My first dive in this series and it was close to perfect. The psychology of the characters, the depiction of the lifestyle, the organic development of the story... The kind of book that makes me instasubscribe to an author. Well done, writer.

I loved this Series!

Everyone thinks to meet someone it happens quickly. Blake and Danny take it slow and find it worked for the best outcome ever. Maybe Quinn will write more stories for this series, but until then ,I'm onto the Harmony Grove series by Quinn. ENJOY!

I adore Danny & Blake, but I hate bitter-sweet endings. I need more tissues.

DNF @ 36%

I wasn’t into the kink from the get go and after reading a spoiler, this isn’t my type of found family book.
