Iced #3

Roughing

Rate this book
From USA Today Bestselling Author, Kristine Allen, this is team captain, Kristoffer Halvorson's story! Third book in the Iced Series.
Roughing: Called when a player strikes an opponent in a minor altercation that the referee determines is not worthy of a major penalty.

I’m Kristoffer Halvorson, right wing and team captain for the Austin Amurs. Roughing is my penalty. It’s not like I plan to do it, but hockey is a rough sport.

Hockey is everything. From the minute my four-year-old feet hit the ice, I was all in, and it hasn’t changed since. Nothing else matters as long as there’s a stick in my hands and a puck in my sights.

Until Zoey.

She was my friend’s girl, and even though he’s gone, she should be off-limits. Except I took her into my home, married her, and promised to take care of her. Little did I know, she came with more baggage than either of us expected. Now I’m mixed up in something so dark, it may end not only my career, but my life. I’ll pull out all the stops to protect what’s mine.

Things are about to get rough, but I’m not letting her go.

Hooking is such a fantastic, sweet, and super smexy read!! Hooking is the third book in Kristine Allen’s Icing Series. It is a fake marriage standalone, but has characters from the other books in the Iced Series as well as her RBMC series. When Kristoffer goes to check on his deceased buddy’s girl, he’s completely surprised when he finds a hugely pregnant woman living in a rundown apartment on the dangerous side of town. When he forces Zoey to move in with him and then to marry him so he can take care of her, the last thing he expects is to develop feelings for her.

This story was absolutely wonderful! The well written the the plot was great with some romantic suspense elements as well. I wish I could say that the circumstances that Zoey found herself in were fantastical, but it really isn’t. I thought Kristine did a fantastic job explaining the minefield that some service members’ loved ones can find themselves in if not legally married. Zoey is really relatable as just a girl trying to get by the best she can against all the bad luck that’s been thrown her way. She’s hardworking and is really missing having a human connection. Kristoffer is awesome. He’s hot and sweet and just really wants to take care of this girl. He doesn’t understand his possessiveness and how their pull toward each other. There is a ton of chemistry between the two of them and their smexy times are super 🔥🔥🔥. All around great read and it was awesome to catch up with some of the guys from the RBMC!!

This is Kristoffer and Zoey's story. It'll pull you in, grabbing your attention. So many emotions you'll be on a rollercoaster ride with the words unfolding this intricate story that falls nothing short of amazing. There's a few cameos in here too but aside from that be prepared for one hell of story. This one will take you by surprise. I highly recommend reading. It doesn't disappoint.

Can’t get enough of this hockey team! Kristoffer has a huge secret that he’s keeping not only from the team, but all his friends and family – he’s married, and his wife is pregnant and going into labor! Backtracking, we get to know the back story of what happened and find that Kristoffer tracked down his childhood best friend’s girl, Zoey, and is horrified at what he finds. Zoey has continued to find herself down on her luck, after getting pregnant by her best friend after a one-night stand, and then him passing away and her having to move to a bad part of town and losing her job due to her pregnancy, she’s shocked to find Kristoffer at her place, and she doesn’t take kindly to him demanding she relocate to Austin and stay with him. But when a drive-by shooting happens, both of them realize that he’s right and Zoey packs up her stuff and moves in with Kristoffer. Fighting the feelings, they both have for each other, as they start to know each other and what happened between Zoey and Kristoffer’s best friend, we see that they are perfect for each other, and I rooted for them and her HEA so bad! When the babies are born, things get a little strained, especially when his best friend’s past comes back to haunt Zoey, but thankfully Kristoffer calls in reinforcements before it happens, and they are able to save Zoey before she makes a huge mistake. I can’t wait to see who’s next to fall from this team!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Roughing is the turn of Kristoffer from the Iced series. This is a fake marriage story which starts when Kris goes to find the girl of his dead friend Adam, but to his surprise,he finds the lovely Zoey pregnant,so immediately thinks he's doing the right thing by taking her back to Texas and marrying her! The whole book is incredible,it pulls you in and never lets you go...of course there are appearances from the RBMC guys...which is a bonus, but it's lovely to see how the secretive and sometimes volitile Kristoffer turn into this amazing and loving person that we all love to see.

Awesome as always! Five 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Finally we get to learn more about the grumpy Captain of the Amur Leopards! Kristoffer has always been intriguing, especially with how he butter heads with Alex in Hooking. I loved how this book wasn’t the usual cookie cutter romance. Everything is unexpected since when he meets Zoey she comes with a lot of extra baggage. I don’t want to say too much that it ruins the early twist to the story, but it’s both funny and heart warming reading about this large professional ice hockey player doing his best to be welcoming and involved with Zoey. Both characters, as well as the side characters, read as if they are real life people and overall I just love Kristine Allen’s writing. We get to see the characters of Chains and Voodoo in this book, and as always they are fabulous. Now I’m no edge for Chains book!

Roughing follows Kristoffer and Zoey's journey and what a journey it is. It's a very emotional read and will keep you all caught up in the story until the very end. Kristoffer gets more than he bargained for when he honors his friends wishes. He finds Zoey, the widow of his friend and a little package his friend left behind. You'll have all the feels these characters have and be completely breathless with the telling of their story. As usual, Kristine Allen has given us another incredible ride with this book.

This book is a fantastic addition to The Iced Series. Kristoffer and Zoey’s story is emotional, and makes you feel so many different feelings from wanting to slap him to wanting to hug her. I could not put this book down, and I loved that there were appearances from the Royal Bastards. This is such a good series!

The Iced Series just keeps getting better.  Kristoffer and Zoey were meant to be.  Though their meeting was after a tragic affair, fate seemed to know what our was doing. Their journey is emotional and full of character growth throughout the series.  Toff's initial pull to help Zoey sealed their fate, building a life full of love to last a lifetime.
I've loved reading all the characters that are building this Amers world as well as visiting old friend from another brilliant series.  I can't wait for the next!!

Great

Zoey and Kristoffer have a connection, his friend Adam. Adam and Zoey are roommates. But Zoey and Kristoffer had never met until something tragic happens to Adam. Zoey ends up needing help so marrying Kristoffer who's plays hockey for the Austin Amurs is the best choice. But what will happen when feelings arise? What will happen when danger shows up? Will there be a HEA?

Kristine Allen has created a Hockey/MC world filled with dynamic and engaging characters you can’t help falling in love with. Kristoffer peaked my interest in the first two books and his story was worth the wait. Kristoffer and Zoey’s journey is an emotional ride that will pull on your heartstrings as you root for their happily ever after. I enjoyed the character crossover. It always feels like reconnecting with old friends. I highly recommend adding it to your list of must reads.

I absolutely loved Roughing. This is probably my favorite of the whole series. Kristoffer and Zoey's story completely sucked me in and I devoured it in one sitting. This is the 3rd book in the Ice'd Series. The book is very well written with a great storyline. And as with a lot of Kristine Allen books we gets some of our favorite characters that she masterfully weaves in and out of her books. If you have not started the series I suggest reading them in order, but do yourself a favor and grab this series. It does not disappoint.

This book could be read as a standalone, but it has characters from both the other books in the Iced series and the books in her RBMC series. It is Kristoffer and Zoey’s story, and it’s a great one.

When he flies out to California to check on his recently KIA’d friends girl, he finds himself quickly involved in a situation he never expected. He discovers Zoey, very pregnant and living in a bad situation. So he swoops in and saves the damsel in distress, feeling all the guilt when he begins to develop feelings for her. And Zoey comes into it with some unexpected baggage, too.

The romance was great, and so too was the emotional aspect of having so recently lost his friend, and all the conflict that brings him in relation to Zoey. And the suspense elements were what really kept me turning the pages. I had to know!

These are two great characters that are not only wonderful together, but who are just as interesting on their own. Great read!

I seriously can’t get enough of this series! I have loved everything about each book. The author does such a great job at intertwining her series as well. Between hot hockey players, best friend’s baby momma, throw in some chemistry and drama and you have Roughing!!

Kristoffer promised his childhood best friend, Adam, that he would take care of his girl if something ever happened to him. Kristoffer never expected to show up to a crappy apartment with a shy, down on her luck, pregnant lady.

Zoey never thought she’d be where she is. When she left her hometown for the bright lights of LA, she never expected to have her best friend taken from her. When a behemoth of a man shows up on her door, her life is once again thrown off track.

Twists and turns abound in this one. Plenty of steam and chemistry and you can’t help but want a happily ever after for these two. Don’t worry, there is a HEA and an epilogue!!

Toff and Zoey's story was hot hot hot! Toff promises to take care of his best friend Adam's girl if something happens to him while on a Seal mission. Well, Adam doesn't make it back, and Toff finds Zoey pregnant with twins and not in good living conditions. He convinces her to move in with him and marry him for insurance. Toff is also a star hockey player, so because of that, they keep the marriage under wraps until Zoey goes into labor, and Toff finds out during practice.

From there, watching these two fall in love was steamy, swoony and hot. Toff is a great hero, and loves Zoey as much as the babies. Watching him fall for all of them was so sweet. And Zoey is feisty, independent and a great heroine. Throw in a visit from Voodoo and Chains, and this is the best book in the series so far!

Kristoffer is everything you want in a boyfriend! His story was amazing! In the other two books he came off kind of harsh and grumpy so I was really excited to read his story and find out what makes him tick. I absolutely loved his dedication to Zoey. I would want him looking after me too! Zoey was a great choice for Kristoffer. They had such good chemistry together.
This was such a fun and entertaining read. There was a little bit of angst and a little bit of suspense. Keeps you flipping the pages to see what's going to happen! Can't forget Voodoo and Chains guest appearance, that was fantastic! Love those guys!! Definitely check this book out, even if you're not a hockey fan you will still love this story. Plus it will make a hockey fan out of you. Would definitely recommend it!!

Ok, this one is so far my favorite! It's got hockey player falls for best friend's girl going on as well as girl being pregnant by other guy (spoiler, he died), and a little forced (meh, she did go willingly after some convincing) proximity mixed in with reluctancy from both parties...so yeah, loved it all.

Kristoffer is just all that. He's quiet, a little broody, and a bit intimidating with his size and good looks. Yep, I'll take him!

The entire story was super great, until the epilogue. It's like the conflict was created, played out (sorta), and then not really known how to finish it off it was glossed over and the characters never knew what happened to so&so and yada yada. Umm, I want to know! 🙋

But aside from that, yes, I loved it. I would recommend it!

Another amazing addition to this series!
Love the chemistry between the characters. The story is so well written that it grabs your attention on the first page and makes it impossible to put down. Love how characters from past books and other series make apperances in each book. If you love sports romances with hot alpha males this book is a must read. I also recommend her other books in this series as well as her others series. You will not be disappointed. Can't wait to read more books in this series.

Matchmaking from beyond

There are pats that are mysterious, adventurous, and action packed. From the drive by shooting, the delivery of twins, the crazy stalking criminals, the hunt for a hidden bit of evidence, and oh falling in love. It is a good story that moves along at a good clip so you stay interested. I don't like when a story starts off at one point in time then goes back to catch the reader up, then it takes half the book to get back to where the beginning started.... Why not just start at the beginning? I probably would have given it 5* but for the time ripples.

Well, we finally find out what's going on with our boy Toff. All I know is the man is the perfect specimen for a book boyfriend. He made a promise to his best friend without knowing the situation. He may not have been thinking of forever but that's exactly what he got. I don't know how many times I can say how I love this series, I may not be a hockey fan but author Kristine Allen got me thinking different now and I'm also crazy about author Kristine Allen, love her work, her words, overall? Basically everything 💙💫💙💫💙💫💙💫💙💫💙💫💙💫💙💫💙💫

I absolutely adore this book Zoey and Kristoffers story grabbed me right away. I loved their chemistry it jumped right off the page. Toff is trying to fulfill a promise to a friend he doesn't expect to fall for Zoey. There's the perfect mixture of heat, angst, and action. I would recommend this series to everyone. You can read this as a stand alone and understand it but if you've read the first two books and Kristine Allen other books you'll see some familiar faces

A very sweet story with a slight twist of action.

My biggest complaint with this book is the author tried to add a twist of danger and suspense, but then ended the book without following through. The epilogue tells us how the situation was resolved, but it was nothing more than two or three sentences, no real explanation. It felt very anticlimactic.

Otherwise, I enjoyed Kristoffer & Zoey’s story.
