This is a sweet story that could have been better without all the union stuff. The focus should of have been on the couple who come from two totally different cultures and a background filled with trauma. I don’t mind a good slow burn romance but the book focuses so much on their work conflict that I wasn’t completely sold on the couple. For example he wants to practice abstinence but it’s not explained why. Even when they are married everything is just glossed over. Overall it’s an okay story if your looking for a sweet romance.
As a black 30 something year old woman who lives with her parents, I thought this book was AMAZING! Plenty of drama, character depth, and clean romance. And it was imaginative, I've read interracial romances but never one with a differently able person it. This was new and fresh, hot, and intriguing.
Now if you'll excuse me I have to learn sign language, so I can get me one of those cute deaf guys.
I was enthralled with this story. I found the situations that Suhail dealt with daily as a result of his disability very interesting. I was annoyed with myself because I now realize how I may have dismissed or overlooked someone who may be mute or deaf. As a result of reading this book, I will endeavor to be more sensitive to those with disabilities without be condescending or displaying pity. A lesson learned. A good read.
Ms Morgan has created a delightful and fresh romance. The main characters are fascinating and well developed. The story thoughtfully dealt with the physical and emotional challenges the couple faced. The writing is witty and natural with lots of fun banter. I highly recommend this book.
Iloved, loved, loved, this book. The story was great, it was a slow burn. The characters, were loveable. Even though, Risa got on my nerves. I loved how the love was unconditional. I love how the characters, were imperfect. I loved how Suhails disability didnt stop him from living life, his way.
I thought the story was good and the character development well thought out. Love can always find you in The weirdest places even a elevator. There were a few plot holes for me as a reader that left me wondering like how did our ml get her number. I mean sure he was her boss an had access to employee data but that seemed kind of on the creeper side. I loved Sunhail don't get me wrong but how would I like the tall, dark, brooding, and mysterious type with a troubled past? As for our heroine I liked her and her connection with her family and didn't mind that she was 30 and still lived at home. The one thing I didn't like was her distrust of the ml and how she tended to disconnect from others when she was hurt. Other than that it was a great read and the ending was satisfying.
What an unexpected read. I loved everything about this, the way it was written, the chemistry, the premise in general. It was was an enjoyable read. Risa and Suhail were not only different from a cultural background but also different in the hearing and deaf communities as well. The dynamic between them was understanding since Risa’s sister was mute so she knew sign language and was open to Suhail’s deafness and had no qualms about a possible relationship outside of employer/employee. Suhail’s views on no sex before marriage and on his stand agains cochlear implants didn’t preach, it was his stance and it fit his personality, simply stated, but his point was clear. They accepted each other, his deafness and her anxieties and yet they still found love in each other as well as strength.
Suhail is the new owner of a company where Risa was an employee. He is of course rich, but has a hearing disability. Risa is almost child-like and is prone to anxiety attacks. They fall madly in love and how they got to that point is barely discussed. Here's a coincidence, Risa can communicate in sign language too. There is also only Risa's point of view in this story. There's little character development and Suhail's traditional Middle Eastern parents just accept Risa with very little questions. So this entire story was lacking in a lot of ways, including credibility.
Suhail and Risa were able to communicate pretty well through signing and lip reading. The two had some bumps in the road because they were employer/employee. It was frustrating the way Risa kept pushing for Suhail to get the ear implants. He always gave her the utmost support for her aniexty issues. Though the story was kinda slow for their relationship, in the end they got the family and their HEA they longed for with each other.
This book had promise but I couldn’t get past Risa’s baby act. Whenever she didn’t get her way she would whine or throw a tantrum. I did not like her as a character and I don’t believe she had any growth. At one point the says she loves him but harps on him endlessly to get a hearing aid. I pushed through and finished it even though I wanted so bad to put it aside. Their fights and upsets were also one sided. Annoying
Romance should never be boring! Now I’m no writer, but I am an avid reader. Please try to remember your audience when writing. We want romance not to read about boring, old union issues!
I loved Suhail, what a strong and gentle soul, and Risa, I enjoyed her and her family, what a kick. This is a book that I can read over and over again.
This book was interesting to say the least it was it what I was expecting but it wasn’t terrible it was good it wasn’t great but it definitely wasn’t terrible.
