I thought this book was excellent. It gives so much information in an easy to read format and I read it cover to cover like a novel! There are lots of full colour photos throughout. Topics covered are soil, watering, weeds, plant health, gardening for wildlife, garden planning, herbaceous plants. growing vegetables, herbs, fruit and an A-Z of plant problems. Great for beginner gardeners who don't want to use nasty chemicals in their gardens and look after the natural environment, and also for established gardeners who would like to change their ways. I also like the way the book is printed using sustainable paper sources, uses vegetable inks and has no unnecessary dust jacket. I got this book out of the library but it is going to go on my wishlist for my own copy.
This is a good organic gardening book - not like those read... but they are all mixing together. I have a rotating shelf-full of gardening books from the library that I read early morning or late night. There is a blurry, gradual accumulation of knowledge. I think this is a good one - and it certainly isn't as bad as some of them.
Lots of great advice in this book!! I like the little blurbs of info, but there was SO much information and it was kind of all over the place. It still had references to the other areas of the book, but it was kind of hard to follow. Because of that, I gave it four stars instead of five.
A very informative book that explained to me, a new organic gardener, that organic gardening may be challenging, but it's well worth the time & effort. The authors give many practical tips & plenty of direction when looking for more information.
Easy read that is packed with tips and information. Lays out green practices without being preachy or talking down to readers. I am ready to get outside.
