The economy collapsed, the government tried to restore order through martial law, but too many were infected, leaving only a small group of survivors.Ray Daniels flees his home with his family, saving a blind woman along the way, a blind woman who others like Josh and Luke have seen in their dreams. Josh tries to find lifesaving medicines for his nephew, but he is detained at a FEMA camp where things aren't what they seem to be. Luke, a former enforcer for a crime family, tries to get out of town after the crime family comes after him. He travels south, joining forces with a woman who is nearly as deadly as he is.Little by little, all of them get closer and closer to coming together, while trying to avoid the rippers and an organized gang of Dark Angels run by an evil overlord who calls himself the Dragon. But Ray has a plan, a safe haven to go to . . . if they can just make it there.

I almost could not put this down. So much going on. Already bought the next set and will devour it this weekend. Highly recommend.

This is a collection of the first four books in an eight book post-apocalyptic series. The last four books are collected in another volume. I don't appear to have liked the series as much as others. I enjoyed many of the characters. I thought the stories meandered a bit. My main problem with the books is the author tends to over explain things. He either over describes activities that should take a word or two, or he will describe a scene and soon after, describe it again. I believe his eight books could have been cut down to four better books with some good editing. Still, I read them all. I thought the ending was abrupt compared to the rest of the books.

Love it!!

I love post apocalyptic type of books, and I really enjoyed Stephen Kings novel 'The Stand', this series reminds,me very much of that book.

Strong characters and a good storyline looking forward to reading the next four (which I've just downloaded)
