The world of thoroughbred racehorses doesn't immediately sound dangerous, but when Sam and Rachel devise a lucrative con involving the breeding process, it gets that way fast.
S.A.has done it again. Mr. Cosby is an incredible character writer.. Totally a movie vide.. I have never been disappointed with any of his books short story of full novels.. I suggest checking it out..
Short story, part of a crime compilation. Fun fast read, lots of characters and action. Cosby has 4 or 5 short stories out there. Not impossible to track them down, but looking forward to when they will all be under one cover. Thuglit - Issue Ten, Thuglit - Last Writes, Crime Syndicate Magazine - Issue Three. All available on amazon kindle for reasonable prices. And Anthony Award winner, a REALLY short short story, can be read here: http://www.toughcrime.com/2018/08/the...
Shows the author can spin a yarn, but this isn’t even a novel-ette. It’s an extended prologue to a novel; basically an action movie shrunk to a TikTok.
5 Stars all the way....S.A. Cosby can even write 5 star novellas!!!!
Novellas are great little palate cleanser between books, yet we all know they are normally not 5 star reads. I have been proven wrong, from page 1 to page 62 this is packed with action that only Cosby can deliver.
“The night unspooled around them and wrapped them in a silken shroud of shadows and sighs.”
An old friend of Rachel’s convinces her and Sam to scam his employer into buying what he thinks will ensure a champion racehorse will be bred. Meanwhile, Rachel’s friend has an unscripted agenda and a hitman working for an old enemy hopes to add the grifters to his kill list.
Once again, Cosby demonstrates his talents for creating compelling characters, super settings, and a pulse-pounding plot.
3.5 ⭐️ SA Cosby and short stories don’t belong in the same sentence. His writing style always has you craving for more and I wanted more from this one. The storyline was good but a bit too fast. I had so many questions at the end.
At this point, S.A. Cosby is my favorite author for fast-paced crime/mystery thrillers. The man never misses and it’s no different in Ride Like Hell- an action-packed novella about a modern-day Bonnie + Clyde on the run.
Sam and Rachel are on the run. To escape the Philly Mob they need to pull off one more job that gets them paid and hopefully out of dodge. When Rachel’s friend calls her in to act as a veterinarian for a potential prize-winning horse - the couple knows this is the cash cow they need.
Little do they know, a dirty little rat- aka informant has spotted them and their lives are in immediate danger.
Will they make it out alive and with the money?
This is an absolute page-turner -you won’t be disappointed reading this.
I was excited to see A Grifters Song Book written by SA Cosby. Like his other stories, this doesn’t disappoint. Great action and moves quickly to a satisfying ending. Not sure who or how these stories are edited as I found quite a few mistakes which pull me out of the story… but I let it slide and just continue the fun read…
Feels a little wrong counting this short story as a full book on here but I’ll read anything S.A. Cosby writes. This was a Kindle Unlimited story that popped up.
His southern crime stories are always a good ride and this short story delivered. Great characters, lots of action packed in, and emotion.
