Jeevan Sootra is a compilation of articles and poetry, based on different aspects of life. It's a self-help book, that is a compilation of 50 articles written, on topics such as life lessons, death, love and relationship issues, hope, inspiration, including others. It's basically a ray of hope for the people that have given up on life, and positivity. It gives a whole new optimistic outlook for every possible topic which has been discussed, at the end trying to give the message that we all are humans; and it's okay to have negative feelings, make mistakes, suffer downfalls, and accept our shortcomings as long as we are trying hard to overcome them and learn from our mistakes, to rise up as a better version of ourselves each day. It has been laid out by a mind, that believes in the co-existence of reality and magic, who has the conviction to believe, and who doesn't give up easily. The book is for bringing in optimism and positivity in the hard times of hopelessness.
This quarantine taught us a lot of things about life, about taking a break, about the significance of relationships in our lives and about taking out time for ourselves.
The book was surely a treat to read. With simple language and an easy flow of narration, the book delivered what it was meant to i.e., doses of positivity. There were many insightful takeaways as well as meaningful reminders. The combination of prose and poetry was an enjoyable aspect of the book. I liked the fact that the author tried to amalgamate reality with magic in certain aspects while in others, she tried to draw the line between the two to emphasize the point that they are indeed two different things
The only thing that I felt a bit off was the flow in poetry. The author has tried to bring a flow through rhymed poems, but I, personally, would have appreciated a more structured form. Aside from this, I enjoyed reading this book and I would suggest it to anyone looking for positive motivation in their day-to-day life.
I thought of it in the past, Of how cherished I will be Instead, I'm busy collecting them all the fear of missing out, I see! 🦄🦄🦄 Jeevan Sootra by Janhavi Joshi is your personal guide to self master the art of living. Through a mixture of poetry and self help wrote ups, the author talks about the everyday occurunces in out life (which include topics like family and relationships) but mainly focuses on the importance of life and having a positive attitude towards it. We've grown up thinking that everyone else's happiness comes before ours, but during a new era where self love and self care are proven to be a necessity, this books shows us that there's a balance to everything but your well being comes before everyone else's. It's important to be humble and caring, but at the same time you shouldn't be taken for granted. Self care is only one of the many topics covered in this book, but it was one of the most impactful. We also understand things like the importance of seizing the moment or how mistakes are a part of growing up and it's the mistakes that help us learn to be better. A trigger warning, the last chapter in the book is based on suicide. I decided to mention it here because I have different views on suicide so it's a 'agree to disagree' moment for me and I know that there's always a debate on it. But, overall I do like the book because it's structured well and the poems are nice. I would've liked a little more elaboration on certain chapters because they felt too rushed and not as helpful or insightful as a few other chapters. 🦄🦄🦄 Rated 7.5/10 Melina L.
Jeevan Sootra is a beautiful compilation of poems and thoughts of the author Janhavi that represents a wide range of topics related to self-love, relationships, self-worth, love, friendships and life in general, all of this woven with the delicate threads of positivity and motivation.
I appreciate the author’s boldness to come out of her struggles and write such a beautiful poetry that brings in light her experience and struggles faced in her life and especially due to this pandemic. The book also focuses in bringing in light of positivity for each problem that are being faced in this society.
The book is very well structured which makes the reader feel easy to read. The chapters are well flexible the reader can choose to jump to any topic based on the requirement or the situation. I was delighted to find this book as self-care is something that has been neglected by many people in the current society and it is a must read for everyone. I would rate this book with 4 out of 5 stars.
Jeevan Sootra, as the name suggests, is a collection of aphorisms relating to some aspect of the conduct of life. A must read self help book that will enhance your introspective qualities to make sure that you've a better understanding in your lives. The beautiful poetry helps you to find your way in utmost darkness. It's a 'natural' positive book that's all about improving your mental health by self-healing and self care. In addition to that, it compiles the beautiful meaning of art of letting go which is essential for every human being on this planet.
This book is perfect for this certain period. While mind fills with questions each and every second, take this up in your hands and you see the key to all your answers and future decisions lay here. The unchallenged balance of poetry and write-ups is a beauty itself you have to see. Contemporary scenes are flashed through, sometimes sentimental, sometimes hopeless romanticism, and sometimes positivity springler - is this book. One who doesn't appreciate poetry and articles would find, Jeevan Sootra , to be a boring read. But this is a daily capsule to devour, to escape to!
Book:- Jeevan Sootra - A personal guide to self-master the art of living life Author:- Janhavi Joshi Format:- Kindle Rating:- ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
The book is a combination of short articles and poems reflecting various stages of human life and emotions attached to the same. Some of the feelings reflected in the book are Love, Death, Transformation, Nature, Solace and the beauty of present moment. The author has magnificently jotted down the pain felt during the heartbreak, hope after a failure and the dream to be unique. One of the poetries/articles titled "MAKTUB" is really awesome. It took me back to the time lane where I read the book "Alchemist". The author here talks about 'omens' & how the subconscious mind can do miracles. This poem is a question for every readers whether or not they believe in the philosophy of Maktub; meaning it's all written. Wanna know author's point of view? Go and grab the book now for yourselves! Another article titled "My Perfect Life" hit me hard. The authors m questions what's actually a perfect life. Is it the perfect grades or the ideal social life? The author had marvellously explained that "No one is Perfect". You and Me have some or the other flaws within. Now moving on to my favourite piece in the book:- " CRY whenever you want to!" It's always easy to hide the tears behind laughter, than to cry in front of all. Author very gently explains the point that there's no winner in the game "Life"; there's only "Survivors". So, you are free to cry whenever you want to!! The book ends with a question:- "Suicide- The End of the Book?" Try to answer this question yourself. Overall, the book is unique, easy-to-read and quite interesting. So, it is highly recommended for readers who are looking for optimism and positivity at the most difficult situations in life.
“You are star as well as dust; together, you have the glory to form stardust.” Janhavi Joshi
This beautiful book ventures into the depth of our existence by questioning the transient nature of our life and answering the mysteries of our discontent as it talks about self restraint and the value of flexibility.
The lines really touched my core, made me look out the window and to think. It stirred the voids which I felt within myself in this dubious time. The author refers to the concept of maqtub and I agree with what she said. But I feel that whenever we witness a tragedy, we often console ourselves with the existence of an omnipresent power of destiny as a way out to unburden the tragic shadow.
It also records the nature of human folly, the importance of self love, the enigmatic charisma and undaunted bravery of a woman, and the vulnerability of our dreams. The metaphors are applied with innovative novelty. The piece titled ‘Some Roses that Last Forever’ felt quite personal to me. Even though she talks about mundane situations, the unique lyricality heightens the presentation. The topics that she touched upon are dispersed on a wide spectrum. I love the fact that she brings little unnoticeable things under the limelight, things which often get overlooked and yet have a huge impact upon our lives.
This book also talks about different aspects of love, death and separation. It defines that our character is reflected even through the mistakes that we make. Although I must admit that a few topics did appear a bit repetitive and it would have been better if she used blank verse instead of rhymed lines. But overall, I adored this little book of insightful romanticism. 4/5
This is a book for you to read at any point of your life. It will help you grow, love yourself and most importantly will tell you about the main assence of your life✨♥️
🔶Every soul has an individual journey. Let them make mistakes; Let them fall down, once, twice. Let them harm themselves, and let them learn it all by themselves. One day, they will. But what if they won't? Then my friend, every soul has an individual journey!!🔶 These are some most favourite lines of the book.
This book is compilation of articles and poetry, based on different aspects of life, such as love, death, separation, change, nature, solace, the beauty of the present moment, heartbreak, secularity, dream, magic, hope, faith, and various others. It has been laid out by a mind, that believes that there can be co-existence of reality and magic, who has the conviction that the miracles can take place, that mistakes happen with humans and there is no harm in that, as long as we get to learn something from them. Every moment in life is a teacher, and we are students. The book is for bringing in optimism and positivity in the times of hopelessness.
♥️Self care is only one of the many topics covered in this book, but it was one of the most impactful. We also understand things like the importance of seizing the moment or how mistakes are a part of growing up and it's the mistakes that help us learn to be better... which I find is most important in today's world where we neglect our own happiness.
Overall this book meets my expectations of being a most wonderful self help book . I highly recommend for others to read this too ✨
The book has been described as “your personal guide to self-master the art of living life” yet it hardly qualifies as a self-help book. It is true that personal insights and development of one’s own philosophy of life may help oneself, and by extension, others to live life fruitfully; but most insights provided in Jeevan Sootra are pretty much redundant and rather unrefined. One could equate the chapters to “diary entries” as the content lacks generalizability and finesse. The chapters are far too many with a rather superficial stance on the topics. More often than not, there has been oversimplification of subject matter. Also, there are many grandiose and absolutely contrasting statements like “The journey of life is all about finding that one person, who will take care of you, and will be by your side through every thick and thin.” and “Human love is fluid, transient and unrealistic!”. Further, there are some grammatical errors that should have been spotted during proofreading. The prose aligns more with conversational English.
However, I would commend the author’s zeal and enthusiasm for writing. The courage to put oneself out there and be vulnerable are traits that people seldom possess. I like that the author has introspected on various themes. I hope the author meditates on the plethora of topics that she has touched while writing the book and comes out with a much more deeper understanding of said topics.
Jeevan Sootra is a compilation of articles and poetry, based on different aspects of life. A beautifully written book that covers wide range of topics such as death, love and relationship issues, hope, inspiration, failure etc. The book motivates you to remain optimistic even at worst of times.Self care is only one of the many topics covered in this book. It is interesting to note that the articles are very relatable. Author has shared her own experiences in this book about how the covid-19 pandemic affected her and how she came defying it. Anyone who is depressed, feeling highly demotivated, unable to cope up with failures must certainly read the book to start a new beginning. The book is the very necessary dose of positivity which one needs. The book is just 152 pages so can be read in one go, but I would highly recommend you to read it couple of times to get the essence of it. The author has been able to cover a wide range of topics in this short book without compromising with the quality of content. The writing style is lucid and it wont take you any effort to get what is being expressed. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I hope the book brings positivity in you too. Happy reading.
Jeevan Sootra is a compilation of articles and poetry based on different aspects of life. As we grow older life teaches us a lot of lessons, and us being the forever students’ start growing from our mistakes. Amid all the negativity, this book reflecting a constant source of positivity and happiness through its writing. The book comprises valuable poems is further accompanied by articles that are further shedding light on the depth of these poems.
My favorite read from this series is ‘Proud to be a woman’. This section of writing spoke about ambition, courage, and dangerous dreams. This poetry marked the season of struggles that women go through. These scars she carries makes her life more beautiful and meaningful. And of course, the section is ‘Fault in our stars. I was expecting so much from this article, and it didn’t let me down. The author has a unique style of writing. The main aim of this book is to look for positivity, even when you are struggling. From magical memories to heart-shattering events, the book covered it all. It will make you realize that it is okay to make mistakes as long as you are learning from them. If you are looking for a non-fiction book that focuses on self-help with a touch of poetry, then this is the one for you.
Just like not everyone likes Espresso, self help books are not everyones cup of tea, and so was this book for me. This book is a compilation of the author's numerous blogs and other collection which she wrote during the lockdown.
Me as a reader generally prefers some kind of continuity when it comes to books, so discreet content or blogs, where the book oscillated constantly from self-love to finding a soulmate or be it talking about secularism and then to karma.
The assemblage of these topics were way too haphazard for me to process. But yes there were positives too, it has spoke about practising gratitude, taking a beat slowing things down when we actually have the time to do so( ofcourse, not applicable to everyone).
This book will take time to grow on you, and you need to be patient for the same. While skimming through it you'll realise mostly the author has spoken about numerous problems existing in society, stigmas like the girl child, misogyny, patriarchy, secularism, and many more. Later I realised it has been kept as an open ending, and a sequel too is on the way.
I would definitely like to see the solutions to the problems mentioned or what alternatives the author comes up with in her sequel.
As a human being, it is very normal to face ups and downs in one's life. During the negative phase of the life each one of us might need a spark of motivation or atleast some assurance that life will obviously return back to its normal condition. This book can be considered as one such spark.
Most of the chapters in the book begins with a beautiful poetry followed by a brief compilation of the author's thoughts.
"Tried hard to hold it inside Since a long, long time Are a hundred emotions that I hide Such baggage that I carry on my head pretended that I'm fine"
The book begins with above poetic wordings. These wordings are so true that everyone of us would have felt it atleast once during our lifetime. There are many such poems which depicts our real inner feelings.
This book speaks about various topics like ♡ Self love ♡ Self care ♡ How this society stops us from dreaming big? ♡ How the people around us stops us from being different and unique ? ♡ Not to let our soul suffer in the name of LOVE and many more! To know about rest of the topics just grab the book and explore it!
Jeevan Sootra is a self help book written by Janhavi Joshi. This book covers all the life and human depiction of emotions in the form of poetry and write ups. This is a short read and can be read in one go. I actually like the book which contains short write ups and poetries on different emotions. The concept of this book is not new but still everytime you read a book you got to know different take on each subject.
The language of the book is simple. I love the cover page of the book, it is beautifully illustrated. The title of the book is also appropriate and gives a moral vibe. The words and thoughts are beautifully woven into different perspective and information. I liked every poem but the words are more important than the flow and rhythm of it.
I appreciate the author for writing such a great book but I'll recommend a little bit more focus on words and meaning of the poem. Everyone has a different take on every emotion so every review will be different. Overall, I like the book and it is a one time read for me. I'll recommend this book to everyone who love poetries.

Through the 50 poems, the poetess has clearly depicted how we can get energy and influence to do our works. The book was surely a treat to read. With simple language and an easy flow of narration, the book delivered what it was meant to i.e., doses of positivity. The book is very well structured which makes the reader feel easy to read. The chapters are well flexible the reader can choose to jump to any topic based on the requirement or the situation. Author talks about her views on various topics like Quarantine, The Perfect Life, The Perfect Partner and several other topics that need addressing. It's a roller coaster ride of emotions and realisations surfacing from the back of our minds that we thought we have learned ages ago but turns out not really. The book is very well structured which adds to its inherent charm. The reader can jump to any topic as per his/her mood or situational predilection.
We are all, Born-to-Die. What makes one stand out is how and what we do in between!
The book cover will tell you that we are going on a journey, a journey/guide to self-master the art of living. This book contains lots of chapters and the author has given accurate title names to each chapter based on the chapter content. Basically, for every chapter, she chosen a topic and wrote a poem on it, and then expressed her thoughts. The author is directly talking to us. I just loved the way how Janhavi flawlessly wrote something about a topic she decided to and narrated it in an efficient way. Each and every chapter seemed relatable. Although it has many chapters as I was reaching towards the end I was expecting more and more chapters. Each chapter holds a fact / life lesson / reality. I have shared my favorite line from the book above.
Some of the topics were: 1. Life is an art; Live yours in colors 2. The art of letting go 3. The story of my life - a girl child

The wind, sigh, never stays still I hope you understand, one day it will And then a year passed away of despair But this feeling in my heart, won't kill. Unlike the wind, and unlike you Where you left me scarred I'm lying, silent, and still!
Jeevan Sootra is a beautiful, inspiring and refreshing self help book. It focuses on the importance of life and gives you a perfect dose of positive perspective towards life. The combination of poetry and prose is the most interesting part of this book.
"And that is when I realized, that society is going to judge me for my dreams, cut off my wings as I think to fly, restrict my every action to that of an ordinary, average person."
Author valorously overcame her struggles and wrote this beautiful poetry that lights up her experience and struggles. Overall the book is very well structured which makes the reader feel easy to read. It has the capacity to bring in optimism and positivity in your difficult times of hopelessness.
"Listen to what your soul has to say, and paint the sky in your own colours..."
In a world full of uncertainty, anxiety, and pessimism, Jeevan Sootra is like a balm to the troubled mind which gives a ray of hope to drive forward. Janhavi Joshi covered various aspects of life that we cherish having and at the same time dread losing at some point of time. We cherish the beauty of friendship, the need for close relationships, and aim to get momentum in our life. At some point when we lose control of these aspects, we start becoming pessimistic, we lose hope and sometimes fail to pick ourselves up.
The author has done a beautiful job in laying bare the insecurities, needs and desires of people. Janhavi Joshi has penned down this book like an expert in human psychology unraveling the touch points that trouble and give joy to the human beings the most. It is a self help book which might lower your pace while reading the book but whatever 'sootras' are written about life are worth keeping in mind and working upon it.
Each chapter consist of poetry and synopsis about that particular feeling and thought author wants to deliver. This book consists of authors feelings, emotions on different stages of her life, her views on particular incidences, her thoughts on society and it’s burdened mentality and much more.
Book is kind of self guide for living your life in a most generous & honest way. It has some spiritual touch as well. Some part of book deals with social pressure on women and unnecessary rules made for them. I really liked that perspective of giving attention to women dreams and wants.
I really enjoyed reading this one. It was a fast paced book with lucid language. Each chapter is there to offer you something. I recommend this to specially youngsters out there coz it can really make a difference.
Pretty much a guide for living your life rather than just spending it. I hope you all will also enjoy reading this one.
Jeevan Sootra by is a collection of poems and articles penned by Janhavi Joshi. • Each poem is followed by a write up that adds to the experience of the book. As the cover says, it is a personal guide to self master the art of living (and enjoying) life. So it is no surprise that the collection of poems itself are a strong dose of self help and self love vibes. • The poems motivational and the write ups that follow explain the author's rationale behind each poem. This not only gives us an insight into the author's thought process but also demonstrates the different ways we can choose to look at life. • The topics author handles in this book range from womanhood to perfect life, childhood to aspirations, loss and small joys of life as well. • My favorite write up in the book was Paint the sky in your own color. It is a short read but the power it has to change the perspective is huge. It is refreshing and calming, stabilising the purposes with both proses and poems. Optimism is the way to overcome struggles. If it's not, what else is? The author has also marked how she dealt with all her consequences

The book belongs to the genre of self-help. It contains many chapters with a mixture of prose and poetry. The author has beautifully narrated each life phase so beautifully. A nice metaphorical touch is given by each word used by the author. The book is an art of living with a pinch of motivation given to each life phase. Although it is a beautiful amalgamation of different phases of life, the thoughts added along helped the readers to relate to their own life.
The book is never boring. Each chapter emphasizes the importance of several moments. And for the readers like me, the chapters were not enough... Book gives an impression of reading more and more of the poems. The book can be considered as a self-guide. Overall had a nice read. Highly recommended to everyone who loves poetry.
