Wanted by a gang and the police… How long can they stay alive?
Intruders breaking into Alice Benoit's home was no coincidence—she’s a ruthless gang’s best pawn to keep a witness from testifying. Now with a leak in his own police department, superintendent Ben Parsons must keep Alice safe. There's nowhere to go. No one to trust. And Alice and Ben have twenty-four hours to survive, before they lose everything they care about…including each other.
From Love Inspired Suspense: Courage. Danger. Faith.
My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Kidnap Threat. Anne is a fairly new author for LIS but I know you are going to welcome her with open arms. She does awesome work. This story is well-written, action-packed, and full of drama. I know you are going to love it. Widow Alice Benoit is packing up her things. She is moving out now that her son has moved away. She hears glass breaking. Someone is breaking into her home. Who would do that? She is just an ordinary person. Two men are talking, they are looking for her. She hides in the closet of the master bedroom and calls her friend to send help. Soon the sirens arrive and men her husband once worked with are there. Police Department Superintendent Ben Parson arrives. He is anxious that his men are treating this as an ordinary breakin when he knows that's not what this is about. He has been sent here for just this event. He must keep Alice safe. A terrifying journey to protect Alice. They have no place to go and no one to trust. God has a plan for these two, a good plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a plan for peace and not for destruction even in this time of turmoil. Give Him your heart and watch Him make a way where there seems to be no way.
“Kidnap Threat” by Anne Galbraith is a fast-paced suspense with an interesting premise. Someone is after Alice Benoit and Ben Parsons is tasked to protect her as they go on the run. Not only does Ben have to keep Alice alive, he has to figure out who is the mole and how they know his every move.
This is Ms. Galbraith’s second book with Love Inspired Suspense. This reader is curious what she will come up with next.
"Kidnap Threat" is a Christian romantic suspense. I enjoyed that it was different than the standard suspense. Both Alice and Ben were in their forties, so they were able to use their life experience and quick thinking to deal with the dangerous situation. They also came across as real people rather than superhero material. Alice's son was in witness protection but her identify leaked so the bad guys were trying to kidnap her to force her son to not testify. Ben ended up protecting her alone because they didn't know who else to trust. They needed to figure out who the leak from inside the department was because that person was setting Ben up to look like a bad guy.
Ben and Alice worked well together, able to separate if needed to stay undetected in crowds while still able to guess how to find the other afterward. It was also clear that God was working behind the scenes to protect Alice (and she told Ben that she was depending on God, so he didn't need to feel the burden was solely on him). This is one case of a romance blossoming within 24 hours and yet feeling enduring to me. They were impressed by the way the other handled the hard situation, and they got along well. They didn't impulsively decide to get married the moment the danger ended but did pursue steps so they could begin a relationship. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable suspense.
Anne Galbraith is a new author to me, but after reading her book, “Kidnap Threat,” I’m sure I will be reading more of her books! This story was well written and packed with action and suspense! Alice Benoit is a widow of a cop. She is packing up some boxes when she hears glass breaking and realizes someone is breaking into her house. She hides and overhears conversation that she is in danger. While the local police think she is just another burglary, superintendent Ben Parsons know there is more going on. Alice’s son, Chris, has witnessed a murder by a gang, is in protective custody, and he is to testify tomorrow. There is a mole in the department and Ben must keep Alice safe. They have no place to go and can’t trust anyone, so they are on the run!
This had a good mystery to it but there was just too much religious talk in this book for me.
This story centered around a woman named Alice Benoit. She believes her oldest son is on a trip but actually he is in Witness Protection. Intruders have broken into her home looking for her. There is a ruthless gang after her to keep a witness from testifying. There is a leak in the police department. A superintendent by the name of Ben Parsons must keep Alice safe. There’s nowhere to go and no one to trust. She must depend on Ben Parsons. They have twenty four hours to survive before they lose everything including each other. This would have been a good book if all the religious talk hadn’t been brought in.
Excellent story with a unique use of a middle aged couple instead of the usual young couples! I greatly enjoyed the different ways I could relate to an older couple over the younger, newly in love couples.
The book starts off with a bang and isn't over until there is a happy ever after. Alice displays the kind of courage only a long time mother could display and both her and Ben find new love and freedom in their budding romance while on the run. Ben also rediscovers his faith in God and through his word, seeks Alice out for a new beginning.
From the very first page to the very last page nothing but action. This story has home invasion, attempted murder, a mole in the police department, intimidating a witness and much more. In the middle of all the drama the heroine continued to trust in the Lord. The hero had stopped talking to the Lord when he lost his wife to cancer and his best friend a few weeks apart. With all the drama surrounding them hero will the hero turn back to God. Kudos to the author👏👏👏👏 excellent job.
What a wonderful refreshing story involving the older generation. It was exciting as they moved through each crisis and found ways to work together, also learning to trust each other even though they were complete strangers.
Loved how this story grabs you from the first sentence & never slows down! Is it an insanely crazy amount of stuff to go through in a short amount of time? Absolutely! Great plot, great characters, & love the ending!!
