Rising Wind: The Weeping God and The Book of Hope

Rate this book
Rising Wind by Diane Olsen is a story of adventure and spirituality. The story follows a man and a woman who don’t know each other at first, but they are drawn together by a mysterious thunderbird that is supposed to be extinct. Secora is a paleontologist who goes to South America to track another animal also thought to be extinct, a giant sloth. In the process of finding the sloth, she stirs up all kinds of trouble and soon finds a group of assassins after her.

Meanwhile, Gideon, a native American Indian who has left the ways and beliefs of his heritage behind, keeps having visions. A thunderbird is appearing to him and leading him to step out of his comfort zone and go to South America to help a woman he’s never met to fulfill a mysterious mission.

Rising Wind is an effective mixture of science, spirituality, and adventure. There is just enough science present in the story to make the giant sloth, and a small race of people called the Duendes seem like they could be real. The book is also filled with lots of spirituality involving beliefs from several different religions.

This is a must-read for the followers of the Rising Wind Series. Here is where we meet Secora's parents and their adventures. The book is a stand-alone but adds to the series by giving us more details on the family. I stand in awe by the research Diane puts into her work and this novel is no exception. When the moment you think all is lost, our author pops in a wonderful twist and off we go on additional mishaps and adventures. I enjoy those drop-in bits of humor along the journey that help lighten the tension before we journey forward. This book can be read first in the series or third and nothing will be lost. I highly recommend but be forewarned, you will lose sleep turning those pages.

Here we go again!

Another book in "The Rising Wind" series by Diane Olsen is titled; "The Weeping God and The Book Hope." This one can be read as book 3 to the series or read as a stand-alone. The author shares "the backstory" and introduces readers to vibrant new characters within "The Weeping God."

We learn some history about Secora's mother and father and some family history of their mysterious adventures just as we are sent on another new action-packed, multi-cultural thrill ride! The author takes the story to other countries again, and I enjoy it as part of this series as she has written this series to make you feel you are going along for the adventures and some surprising twists make this book hard to stop reading!

All the while, you begin to read and feel this slow building of God's presence of "HOPE" given to all of humanity which adds another special undertone to this one! An amazing cross-genre filled with thought-provoking suspense which keeps you guessing how this all can end!

Or does it? Could there possibly be another book coming to this series? Will see... Even teens will love the research and history the author has put into this series.

This is an amazing and enjoyable book series I highly recommend to everyone!
