Can you name the types of people who are monsters in your mind? Some are born into conditions that breed anti-social behavior, some vow never to repeat the sins of their fathers, but heartbreak becomes their excuse to become a womanizing, sex-driven abuser of the worst kind. That is the kind of monster Ken has become as he spirals into the darkness of wanting more out of life and not knowing how to get it. Sure, he lives in a tough neighborhood where any softness makes one a target. He has his own group, complete with the false machismo young men strut in a world where how much sex you have is the mark of “being a man.” How far will Ken go in degrading himself and the women he uses? He has vowed to be the one to walk away from a one-night stand and never give his heart away, again. He has become the Master of his Universe, but little does he see his Universe is becoming smaller and smaller until he is the only one left within its borders. His minions and his stable of sex-partners have moved on, grown up and learned what the meaning of being a man is. Will it magnify his insecurities or open his eyes to the shame of weakness?

Ben Burgess Jr. has created a character that stumbles, falls and fails to get up, for fear of failure. It is easier for Ken to build himself into a legend in his own mind. Follow Ken through his lurid escapades, as Mr. Burgess draws a raw and stark portrait of using sex to soothe a damaged ego. The acts are graphic, they are clearly not made from love and it shows. No flowery descriptions to sigh with, each act shows how crass and hollow Ken has become and one cannot help but wish there was a way to reach this young man with so much potential.

Although written in an urban setting, focusing on a dark-skinned young man, this is more than a social statement of demographics, this is a look at the pain of a teen in crisis who finds no place to turn and attempts to create his own brand of cure. Will he discover he has more to give the world? He deserves better for himself, but first he needs to believe in himself and love, again.

Not for those who are squeamish about seeing the realities of others in stark relief, but if you are looking for a read that digs deep into the grit of life, Monster is both thought-provoking and heart-wrenching. Ben Burgess Jr. is a gifted author and he takes advantage of this with bold and confident strokes.

This is an intriguing and thought-provoking story of one man's downward spiral.
“...trust me I’d have you speaking in tongues.”
In the past I would've never said anything like that. I would've thought it was rude, but the old me wasn't working so I needed a change.
First of all, thumbs up to the blurb for this book - it really draws you in without spoiling anything. I cannot, in good faith, categorize this as a romance. There's a lot of angst and self-discovery in this book. It's erotica with a bite.

21 year old Ken is a hot mess in the wake of a failed relationship...

He's tired of feeling inferior,
Not good enough,
Not handsome enough,
Not wealthy enough,
Not strong enough...

He's learned a hard lesson.
Nice guys finish last and he's done losing.

KENNY
“It sounds blunt, but it’s the truth. At some point we will all use somebody, and we will all be used by somebody.”
He drowns himself in every debouched sexual encounter he would have dismissed or despised in his previous life.

He's not Don Juan... He's a misguided college kid with a HUGE chip on his shoulder.

The dialogue was a little awkward and stilted.
Most of the story existed within Kenny's mind...
- things piss him off
- things turn him on
- things stroke his ego
I'm willing to excuse the lack of grace, because I feel that the choppy nature more accurate reflects the thought structure of this young man.

As good-guy Kenny deteriorates before our eyes, the sense of impending doom looms ever closer.

It doesn't take long before he becomes the perpetrator of all wounds he had once fallen victim to... He's acting like a kid with nothing to loose...

Meanwhile, he's watching his parents' toxic relationship deteriorate. Ken's devoted mother is wilting under the mistreatment of her husband... While Ken's father's behavior disgusts him, he can't seem to draw the correlation so easily presented to the reader.

Time goes by for Kenny & he's going through women like water. By the time he's finishing his bachelors degree, he has a job as a personal trainer.

He finds himself wrapped up in a pseudo-gigolo role: fucking his female clients while their husbands watch...

The absurdity, angst, and sheer time involved are taking their toll on Kenny. He's beginning to wish for that one perfect woman... Getting envious seeing happy couples around him... He's built himself a house of cards and the collapse is epic.

This book is a stand-alone novel, written from the male POV, by a male author. It is brutally honest, emotional, and will leave you feeling raw at times. We start out rooting for Kenny the underdog, but as he transforms himself into a callus womanizing monster, the reader struggles to maintain hope that Kenny will pull himself out of the hole he has created.

Monster contains many subjects and situations which some readers may find objectionable:
Infidelity - lots of infidelity,
Promiscuity,
FFM Ménage,
Voyeurism,
Exhibitionism,
Hotwifing,
& several others I won't mention to avoid spoilers.

If you're looking for something a little different, this might be the perfect book for you.

Some of My Favorite Moments:

What makes a man? This is the heart of the story that Burgess is telling in this debut novel, Monster. In an extremely well defined character by the name of Ken Ferguson we get to see the soul within a man. This is an exceptional device for the author to utilize as so many shy away from opening the soul to the world to be scrutinized. Burgess bares the soul of his character from the start and allows us an open window into the transformations that it progresses through.
Monster is a coming of age tale, a precautionary tale, and a tale of emotional abuse. The story is rich, and definitely colorful. (I will admit, I could have done without some of the sex, but know it was essential to the story.) The nice thing is that the author does a superb job of bringing the character full circle through the cycle of abuse... received, given, and forgiven. As a reader be prepared to dislike the lead character at times, I know that the author wants you to. Also be prepared to witness a look into the darkness that can consume one's soul. Most of all be prepared to enjoy the book.
Note - not recommended for anyone below the age of 18.

Strap up and prepare for an AWESOME read full of sexcapades, struggle and heartbreaks of a good guy determined not to follow in the footsteps of his father. The author wrote with such honesty and emotion, I couldn't decided who I was rooting for.

With relationships gone bad...Ken turns to sex for comfort which leads him to a fast downward spiral. Throughout Ken's sexual conquest, I so badly wanted to hate him for using women for sex but I just couldn't. With every encounter he was NEVER MISLEADING yet ALWAYS upfront and honest. Being so attentive... all his conquest fell blindly in love. The situations and life transformation were so relatable, I could feel all the characters pain. Just goes to show you... Rather than becoming your experiences let them be your lessons to becoming a better you.

Bravo!!! I look forward to Ben Burgess Jr.'s next release!

This is a very powerful read. There is so much pain and truth in the opening poem (which was the inspiration for the story), it flows into the reader and touches the darkest recesses of the heart. All too often men are done how Kenny was done. Color, race, creed, none of that matters really, it happens to men just like it does women. Some men are a bit stronger and overcome it quickly. Others, like Kenny, the hurt is so deep that they fall. They spiral so far out of control they become the thing they hate the most. I know this from my own personal experience with someone who fell just as hard as Kenny did.
Even as you watch Ken's disastrous transformation begin, his heart still holds to finding that certain someone who will right all the wrongs that have been done to him.
I found a few minor errors that were easily over looked, the errors are very slight.
The sex scenes, and let's face it, Ken is a manwhore there's a LOT of sex in this book, The scenes are written tastefully. Being me, I'm not an overly huge fan of erotic tales and certain words, even if simply reading them to myself, will have me looking like a strawberry. This was not the case with this book. The sex scenes seem to almost be there simply because they have to be to explain the depth of Ken's anguish. They are artfully written and worded tastefully.
It's refreshing when you can feel not only the characters, but a hint of the author as well. I will by no means lie to anyone. This story is NOT for everyone. I do believe it should be read by everyone though, especially the young men who have gone through the pain that Ken did. An outcast myself, I know all too well the knife wounds that riddle Ken's heart and this made me appreciate the story all the more.
There are very few stories of this genre.. Fiction that reads like an autobiography.. That touched me in the way this one has.. In fact, only three other authors have accomplished this feat in all my thirty two years, Piers Anthony (Letters to Jenny), Jennifer Martinez (Written in the Stars), and Derinda Love (Today Only).
I applaud Benny for this work of art, something in my heart tells me that just like the other three mentioned, there's more than just a sliver of truth to the words than the author will lead on.
One small problem I had wasn't with the story, but with the female characters. When it all comes crumbling down, suddenly Ken is the bad guy, granted, he's far from a saint but those women for as strong and intelligent as Ken described them to be are pretty freaking stupid if they make their own decisions and then want to point a finger when shyt kicks them in the ass. The only instance I can honestly say Ken should have had his ass kicked for was Heather. She's the only one that he truly did wrong. Denise and Krissy knew the truth of the situation and yet still everything was pinned on Ken. And don't even get me started on some of the others...
I encourage if the reader is a male, READ this book..If the reader is a female READ this book. There are so many important life lessons in the pages of this work that it truly would benefit everyone if they read it
I give this book 5 of 5 paws and look forward to what Benny decides to let flow next.

After reading the synopsis, you may be left with the impression that Ken is a complete ass but I think that is a rather harsh depiction of the goings on in Monster. I actually found myself empathetic to Ken’s plight for most of the story. He has been raised in a home with a philandering father who has little interest in his son and his comings and goings send Ken’s brilliant mother into bouts of depression. Ken despises everything his father represents which is ironic since it is exactly what Ken becomes.

Ken is a good guy. He is a kind, smart, hard-working 21 year old with a core group of supportive friends. He works to put money in his pocket and put himself through university where he is double majoring in business and physiology. What Ken lacks unfortunately is confidence and self-esteem which is a big old bull’s eye for the verbally and emotionally abusive. When his cheating girlfriend delivers her insulting kiss off rant she imparts the final blow by telling him he is weak. Ken picks himself up from his heartbreak and decides it is time for a change.

Ken studies and executes the art of seduction perfectly and his initial transformation begins with his new found man whoring ways. Anytime his conscious rears its ugly head he berates himself for being ‘weak’. Each conquest has something new to offer and teach and he uses that knowledge to make himself more appealing. He becomes whatever type of guy the next girl needs, he listens and pays attention (we all like a man who listens to us, don’t we?) and he is a sweet talker. But let’s be honest here because no amount of sweet nothings would get him very far if it wasn’t for his exemplary skills in the bedroom, bathroom, couch, backseat of the car…you get the idea! And still, I can’t hold any of Ken’s transgressions against him. He is using the women just as easily as they are using him and he is straight up honest that he does not want a relationship.

Anytime Ken takes a chance with his heart, it is ripped out and stomped on with little wrong doing on his part. This further fuels Ken’s resolution to carry on with the mindless fucking without commitment or feelings as he continues to find self-worth with materialistic possessions. Somewhere along the line Ben Burgess Jr. masterfully flips the switch and suddenly I am no longer sympathetic to Ken’s actions but suddenly having the big WTF are you thinking??? thoughts. Ken’s actions start to hurt those that are nearest and dearest to him. Lies and omission of facts find the light of day and like a domino effect, everything comes tumbling down. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom to reflect on where you have gone so horribly wrong and search for redemption from the monster you have become. Good people do bad things, it is where you go from there that defines you as a person. In the end, what I respect most about Ken is his honesty. He knows what he has done, he makes no excuses, he is remorseful and he owns it.

They say love will make you do crazy things. Have you ever given your all to a relationship and loved the person so much only to find out that person is doing you dirty? Well Ken Ferguson knows this all to well. Ken grew up hearing he was too dark, and was always made fun of by the kids in his school. He grew up wanting to be loved and feel loved as well. The one thing Ken never wanted was to grow up and be the man he watched his father be. He watched his father manipulate his mother and desert his family on more than one occasion. When Ken finds out that the one girl that he loved more than anything was cheating on him throughout parts of their relationship, he realizes he no longer wants to be the nice guy who girls walk over. Ken turns into the total opposite and becomes a “monster” of sorts. He starts to push his feelings to the back of his mind and starts dating various women at one time so that he would never have his heart broken again. Ken seems to get worse as he continues to go through life, he even thinks at one point that he thinks he found the one only to be let down again and become even worse. With his damaged ego and his heart once again broken Ken does the only thing that he can and goes back to not dealing with his emotions. Ken becomes worse, it gets to a point where there are more lies, betrayal, and even looses a few people who are close to him. Will Ken finally realize the monster he has become or will he finally learn to deal with the emotions that have put him in his mindset?

This book really took me on a journey with Ken. The book, the character is very relatable; it doesn’t matter if your male or female you can relate in some way. As a female If you want a better understanding of why men act a certain way going from female to female then this gives you a peek inside of that. I really enjoyed the story and seeing Ken go though his issues and seeing the outcome from it. Not only is it just a story but there are several messages within the book as well. I kind of felt like I learned some things by reading this book. I gave the book 4 stars because at some points the tense would switch up, but other than that the story was a really good one. It contained lessons and was very well written you can tell that the author was very passionate about what he was writing. I really enjoyed this story and cant wait to see what else this author will come out with next.

This is not a story for under 18's due to the sexual nature of the story.

I was asked by the author if I would read this book and review it. It has taken me a while to get to it, but I am so glad I finally did!

When the author first sent it he warned me there were a lot of sexual scenes within the pages, but they were necessary to the story. Having read it I totally get what he means.

Ken Ferguson wanted just one thing, to find love. He believed he had found that with Brianna, thought she was the woman he would marry. he wanted what his parents didn't have, and to put memories of beijng bullied for being dark skinned behind him. But Brianna cheated on him, and dumped him in a vicious manner, insulting him to his very core, belittling him.

Ken believes the way to move in to to sleep around, and that's exactly what he does. He finds himself several different women who give him different things from their meetings. He feels that as long as he doesn't allow himself to get close to them, or they close to him, he is safe, his feelings are safe.

He works hard outwith his various dalliances and starts making money. He gets a better flat in a better area, a fancy car and fancy clothes, and gives the impression, outwardly at least, that he had moved on and was coping.

But deep down he is still hurting. He is trying to hide that hurt by basically getting laid as much as possible. He moves between women with no concerns about what he is doing to them, or who he may hurt in the process.

But this all comes crashing down around him and he loses more than one person in the process. Can he rebuild the trust he destroyed, or is he destined to be without love, or friends?

Will Ken continue to drive everyone away? Will he stop being such a player and find 'the one'? Or is true that a leopard can never change it's spots?

This is a story about a damaged young man trying to protect his heart in the only way he knows. It's about the damage that can be done by just one person, and shows that the fallout can be far reaching. But most of all it is about one mans journey to discover himself, and the mistakes he makes along the way.

This is the author's debut novel, and I am so impressed with his ability to tell this story in the way he does. He doesn't shy away from a theme which some would be averse to writing about. I look forward to seeing what he comes up with next!

Let me first start by saying, any woman who is a die hard man hater, you will only be reinforced in your passion to hate by the happenings in this book.

HOWEVER, let me reinforce my own point here. This is absolutely one of the most appealing, informative, thought provoking, and empathy twisting books I have read to date.

For one, Ken is a lovably sweet person who has been wronged in the most horrible way by a woman he loved very deeply. We have all been here before, heart broken , destitute, struggling to find the answer for why we were wronged and deciding that we have to change.

Ken experienced this same type of drastic behavior before taking it to the extreme where he became worse than the woman who hurt him. On top of it all, he was hurt again in almost the same cruel way.

While I didn’t agree with how Ken reacted to heart ache I could understand his mindset. It was almost as if he was a wounded starving animal searching for sustenance, and who could fault him for acting in an instinctual animalistic way when kicked as he was down?

Not only did I find myself torn between loving Ken and hating him, I found that if he wasn’t hurt he wouldn’t have accomplished so much in his life that had been lagging in the background as he searched for love. Ultimately he found success, money, strength and most importantly confidence.

One of the things we lack when hurting is a sense of confidence and I found that this made Ken much more relatable. If he had just turned into a monster slut I think he would have lost the audience. But the fact that he built a confidence in himself despite not knowing it outright forged a link between me as a reader and him as a highly dimensional character I wanted to know more about.

There is so much more to this book than the characters. The dialogue is very engaging, the situations are realistic and ever changing to keep me interested. And overall for a debut novel, it was refreshing. It kept a good pacing that flowed from start to finish.

The bonus was seeing inside the mind of a man trying in earnest to protect him self by forging the only protection that is basic in his mind- Being a player and distancing him self from people. While many may not agree with this tactic, we cannot argue that it is seen and felt everyday, That these same occurrences aren’t happening right now somewhere to someone.

Very good job Ben, this was a great read.

Before I start this review I want to warn everyone this book is for mature viewers only. If you don't like explicit content, then this book isn't for you.

Ken Ferguson is a young college student who has grown up being tormented for his abnormally dark skin. Insecure and considered weak, he deals with the breakup with the supposed love of his life in the worst way possible: he becomes a womanizer. Beginning with small meetings with girls around campus, his promiscuous ways increase to a multitude of sexual encounters. As time goes on he meets Ashley, a girl who knows the game and works Ken to the point where he truly believes it's not worth putting forth emotion. He deals with a cross-road in front of him: calm his devious ways, or continue down the path to become a MONSTER?

The book's chapters are segments of his life. Beginning with Weak, leading into Darkness, and ending with Evolution. Ken's life is placed on the pages, his mind, body, and soul is played out with each word. His struggles are all too real; with an abused mother and despicable father, a horde of women making Ken's life more and more difficult, and a quickly diminishing group of friends, Ken realizes maybe the path he has chosen for himself isn't the right one.

Written brilliantly, Monster showcases one man's way of coping with real-world problems that many of us have dealt with and how he comes to regret his actions as time goes on. The only reason I give this book anything other than five stars is because the editing is slightly shoddy and could use a good look at by an editor. But you must realize this is not the author's fault. His skill at portraying Ken's emotions is on point and intensely written. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a biography rather than a Fiction novel. It's that realistic and well written.

Despite its editing issues, this book was extremely well done and brilliant. Plus it's nice to see something in this genre from the guy's point of view for a change! Haha!

Love and loyalty should go hand in hand when in a committed relationship, but how do you deal when the person that you are loyal to and are in love with no longer feels the same way about you? Do you do your best to cope with the situation or turn your back on love forever?

Ken Ferguson has had an interesting life. Ken has grown up with self-esteem issues because he is very dark-skinned and was teased as a child, he doesn't know what healthy love looks like because his parents are the poster children for being in a dysfunctional relationship. The only thing that Ken has going for himself is the fact that he is a very nice and sweet guy, this makes his friends love him all the more and as he gets older it draws the women to him. When Ken gets his heart-broken by the one woman who he thought was going to be his wife this changes Ken, changes him into something that he can deal with and something that no one wants to see. How will Ken survive in life with this mentality or will he survive at all?

Monster is a very well written love story. This story makes you smile and at times it makes you frown but the fact that it ignites your emotions is going to keep you reading. The story line is strong, the characters keep you talking and questioning them to get the answers that you want or maybe need but it keeps you there in the story. This is my first read by Ben Burgess Jr. and I look forward to reading more from him in the future.

In the debut novel Monster by Ben Burgess Jr readers will be introduced to main character Ken Ferguson. Not having the best family dynamics combined with having complex issues due to being a dark skinned male also played a part in who Ken is. Monster tells a tale of a man who after many heartaches and heartbreaks, he decides to turn the tables and get revenge. He is on a path of destruction but he doesn't care. For everything that has ever caused him pain- the women he dates will pay the ultimate price.

What I enjoyed about this book was the author's incredible ability to truthfully convey Ken's feelings throughout the pages. This book was so true to life because there was something within the pages that someone would be able to relate to or know someone who experienced it.The messages within the book was an added perk because after completion, I definitely was thinking about life issues and choices that I had made personally.

Readers will definitely enjoy Monster because if you have ever been in love and then had your heart broken then you will definitely enjoy this page turner. Ken ultimately wanted love but the icebox where his heart used to be often made it hard for him. Monster was a crazy, sexy, cool yet suspenseful and intriguing book.

Literary job well done Mr. Burgess!

The Cycle Must be Broken

This is the story of Kenneth Ferguson, a young man beat down since his youth because of what other people thought of him and what he saw growing up. Kenneth becomes an adult and goes on a quest, literally, only to finally discover all he really needed was to look inside and find the love for himself.

“Monster” follows this young man's life from childhood all the way to adulthood. Along the way women used him so he decided he would turn around and do the same thing, kind of like trying to get revenge for all the wrongs that were done to him. He lost friends along the way, women were hurt along the way and he ultimately was hurt as well.

I really enjoyed this novel despite the fact that some words were used in the wrong tense like has instead of had and hasn't instead of hadn't. There were also a few misspelled words. Overall, the storyline was great I could follow every part of the book and read it in a couple of hours.

I would love to see other novels by this author as I think he really did a great job. Just a few editing corrections were needed but I really got it! Loved it, recommend it, Ithink you will enjoy it. The cover was great for the book! Keep up the great work, Ben Burgess Jr.!

Insightful and entertaining debut novel by Ben Burgess, Jr. offers readers a hell of a ride! Written from the point of view of Kenny, a twenty something guy that is put through the wringer growing up in a dysfunctional family. As an adult his heart and ego are ripped to pieces when his girlfriend, the one he thought was the one, emasculates him and dumps him for a bad boy. This story has an amazing ARC that will take the reader from Kenny's rock bottom to a good place, only to be broken again... then he becomes the Monster, a predator that uses and abuses women to no consolable end. You will connect with Kenny in many ways that will help you accept who he is until he crosses that line, and oh boy does he cross it! Read to the end to see if and how he redeems himself.

This novel offers a certain realism and insights that will resonate with today's new adults and adults alike. It also contains two important messages 1- that being a monster isn't the solution to a broken heart, and 2- that you will not find happiness until you fix yourself.

This will make for excellent BOOK CLUB discussions. A Must READ!

This was one of those books where I didn't know what to expect when I picked it up. I'm sure many people can find a way to relate to this story as the different characters display many different personalities. The story of the protagonists struggle to find himself is one that everyone knows in their own way. We see the many ways he feels trapped within himself and the choices he makes in an attempt to gain control of his life and his emotions. The reader grows with Ken as he slowly begins to realize there are always consequences for your actions, and he becomes the person the reader roots for...even if they hate him for some of the things he has done. The author did a great job of telling the story so the reader felt as if they were actually there with Ken as he grew from being a hurt adolescent, into a confused young man, to finally being a man who wasn't afraid to admit to himself what he really wanted. Many people may find a realness in this story that they might not have expected, but that is what makes it so good.

Monster is a story of a guy that started out as a good guy. A female by the name of Bri changed all that with one phone call. Ken went from being a good guy to a man he never thought he would be. He went through so many women and used them to mask his hurt and anger. There were so many women in this story I had to jot down notes to remember them.

Out of all the women Kristen was my favorite. I was really hoping he would end up with her. Jessie really worked my nerves in this story! I didn't like her at all.

This story is pageturner certified. There wasn't any dull moments. Monster is fast paced, colorful, very detailed and full of steamy sex scenes. I enjoyed every single page! This story will definitely take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride! Can't wait to read more from this author.

Monster is a book about life, love, and redemption. The main character Ken has been hurt and becomes "numb" causing many people great pain. After soul searching and finally desiring change he takes control of his life and decides to become a better person. I love the message provided in this book. It shows that no matter what happens in life, it is up to you to want better. "When you know better, you want better and when you want better you do better." I was left with "it's never too late to change"! Great job Ben. You are well on your way. I would recommend this book to adults because there is sexual content, who have been through turmoil in life. It gives hope, encouragement and determination to anyone who feels that life has given them lemons. Great read!!!

In this Readers Favorite "Book Of The Year" Author Ben Burgess Jr. shows his readers a vulnerable side of men that we seldom see. Ken is a young man who is fairly new to the dating scene who falls in love and is hurt by a woman he cares deeply for and wanted to marry.

While the author skillfully tells us about all the women he has seduced, he also meticulously shows us how he became a womanizing player who now looks to change his promiscuous ways. When he falls in love with one of his many conquests he attempt's to change from the Monster he has become into the loving, caring, faithful man he wants to be.

"Monster" is a true coming of age story where a boy becomes a man and seeks to atone for his hurtful ways by writing this book.

Good Job Mr. Burgess !!

This book was amazing!!! It grabbed me from the very first paragraph & I couldn't hardly put it down after that! The author takes the reader into Ken's world so authentically that you feel like you know these characters. I kept picturing them as people I know - that's how real this book is. It starts as Ken, the main character, being a nice, "NORMAL" guy who gets cheated on by a woman he loves & then betrayed by their mutual friend when she tries to use him as revenge. The author leads you deep into the recesses of Ken's mind and shows you how nice guys can easily turn bad. I won't say if the story has a happy ending or not - you will have to buy the book & find that out for yourself! :)

"Monster" is a five star book all the way.

Mr. Burgess put vivid thoughts to the paper about being a dark skinned man in today's society. He takes you on Ken's journey through his reckless relationships and how they set him on the path to being a "Monster. No stone was left unturned in this very detailed oriented book. Ken was a man who you sometimes felt angry at but then as you turn the page, you start to sympathized with the pain he was going through.

Bravo to the author on his debut novel. You did a fantastic job of character development and the plot was a story that needed to be told.

I look forward to reading more from this author.

This book was about a young man name Ken who heart was broken. Due to his broken heart he gave up on love. Ken became a woman’s nightmare. He didn’t care after his female’s friends feeling he just wanted to have sex with them with no commitment. Then on top of that he had to see his father mistreat his mother.

Did Ken love himself? Ken faced a lot of problem girls telling him he wasn’t good enough, women using him, him using women. But what did he get out it?

Did Ken let go of his pass? Did Ken find himself, and really became a man a women really need?

Would I read more of this author work? Yes
Would I recommend this book? Yes

I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this book at first, but I was definitely surprised when I couldn’t put it down. Ken’s journey is shocking but maintains that endearing quality that has you rooting for the bad guy and riding the emotional wave to the very end. The sex was plentiful, graphic, and never boring. It was easy to get into, easy to read, easy to follow. An all around great story with some extra bonuses at the end. I would definitely recommend to anyone who likes to “feel” a book.

What an awesome book. If you ever wanted a look inside a players mind, this is the book for you. Mr. Burgess made me feel like I was with Ken on his hot and steamy journey. Ken's heartache and insecurities turn him into a player and gives him the drive to climb the social ladder. But at what and who's expense? Well, you really need to read MONSTER to find out those juicy details.

I really enjoyed this so much that I read it in one day. The life of a good guy turned player because of a bad relationship. His actions caused him to have some life changing consequences that you have to read until the end to see if they can be worked out and fix. Some of the characters irked my last nerve but that's what makes it such a good book. I highly recommend it.
