PURE TEMPTATION
Lady Flora Bonham couldn't help but be tantalized by Adam Serre's potent sensuality. It made no difference that she'd only just met the exotic half-blood or that he was the scandal of polite society. Flora had never lived according to anybody's rules, and the instant she felt the heat of Adam's savage passion, the only thing that mattered was that she wanted him.
PURE SEDUCTION
Adam Serre couldn't help but be wary. Lady Flora was quite spectacular, with her daring beauty and delicious conversation, but the noble daughter of a famed archaeologist did not fall into the category of amorous interludes. And after just extricating himself from a vicious marriage, his interest in women was purely transitory. Until the incomparable Flora set out to seduce him with a temptation that was ... Pure Sin.

My husband was lying beside me in bed, watching TV. Turning to him, I sort of petulantly said, "How the hell did this book get published?"
"If you think you're so smart," he replied, with one eye still on the TV, "why don't you write a book?"
So I did. And very badly.
I've since learned how to do, he said, she said, and a great variety of other adverb heavy, sometimes lengthy explanations of why my characters are saying what they're saying, along with finally coming to an understanding of what things like POV means. Point of View for you non-writers}.
Although, I still don't fully comprehend why it matters if you switch POV and I cavalierly disregard it as much as possible. So while my technical skills have hopefully improved, what hasn't changed is my great joy in writing. There's as much pleasure today in listening to my characters talk while I type as fast as I can, as there was the first time I put dialogue to paper--in long-hand, then, in my leather bound sketch-book.

Първата и последна книга, която чета от тази авторка. Хаотичен сюжет, повърхностни и недоизградени образи...голямо разочарование!

So far, Ms. Johnson is all over the place. I feel no connection to either Flora or Adam. Hope it gets better. It took me awhile to get into this story but I admit I liked it once I began to care about the h/h. I think the problem with this book was Flora and Adam had mad passionate sex within an hour of meeting and had no real emotions behind the act. At least that's my take on Pure Sin. But as love grew between the two, so did my emotions for this story. This is not one of my favorite SJ novels but it's at least a 3 star read.

Pure Sin by Susan Johnson (1994). If you’re in the mood for a book full of sex give this one a try. I’ve read that it was considered erotica when first published years ago.
The hero Adam, of mixed heritage, has a ranch in Montana where he raises racing horses.. he’s fabulously wealthy in addition to being a French count. He meets the heroine, Lady Flora at a ball in Virginia City, Montana. Her father, a rich British earl is a famous archaeologist and she travels the world with him …, they’re in the West to study and record indigenous cultures. It’s Adam’s first night out solo as his wife just left him and their young daughter.
These two are highly educated, sophisticated and have an instant attraction to each other: “…. her gaze rose to meet his and her breath caught in her throat… his beauty at close range struck her powerfully, as if she were imperiled by such flagrant handsomeness.” For Adam she was spectacular with her rich auburn hair and voluptuous figure. They waltz, engage in talk with plenty of innuendos and by page 12 they’re in a landau in the carriage house satisfying their mutual lust.
The story revolves around these two independent people who can’t resist each other and have sex as often as possible while leading separate lives, especially because Adam doesn’t want to get married again and Flora wants to continue her world travels. Naturally, there are obstacles… Adam’s nasty wife who had been living in France reappears, a range war, and Flora is away helping her father in the wilds of Montana.
It’s a decent read full of very indecent paragraphs and is a similar story to the author’s earlier book, Blaze, though with far more descriptive steamy scenes. Two thirds into the book Adam and Flora do realize they love each other deeply as soul mates and share their feelings and desires openly with each other. Bonus: a good epilogue.

Really I am not one to rate a SJ book as they are all a 10 for me. Her writing is awesome. As for the mad passionate sex they had upon meeting if you read the end of the book you would know that SJ felt like it was time for a woman to go after what she wanted. And really - who could resist that gorgeous man Adam Serre. Flora was an independent woman who was not afraid to take what she wanted. She was not an ingenue by any means and it was her turn to be forward and go after what she wanted. Adam was so put off by any relationship because of his wife. So for him it was about the sex. I read the paperback long, long ago and it was considered erotica. Now, not so much - so times have certainly changed. I had to purchase for my kindle as I could never pass up a SJ book. Awesome.

This book picked up in the last half of the book; the first part was steamy but I thought Lady Flora Bonham was too far before her time. I thought she was a slut -- having sex with a man she'd just met in 1867! It just didn't fly. She also didn't let Adam Serre expect a monogamous relationship. I just couldn't accept the idea that a father (Flora's archaeologist parent) could be so indifferent to Flora's promiscuous behavior.
Adam Serre is the overachieving half-breed that I really don't like. He can play Chopin, luxuriate on the Continent, shoot, ride, lead his clan, and everything else.
Flora changed over the course of the book. Actually, when they started doing something other than having sex constantly, the story became interesting. 3.5 stars

I liked the descriptions of the landscape our couple encounter. The hero was kind of hot and the heroine was smart and not a doormat. There was a lot of sexual chemistry but not a lot of belief that this couple will have the hea I want to be sure of.

This is a story about Flora And Adam, he is an Indian. She is exploring the world, they meet up and fall for each other. This had some really great live scenes and seduction of both characters. They marry and have 2 sons and a daughter.

Fast paced and engaging first half but dragging and lengthy middle part up to the end. Too vulgar at times.
