“Our greatest gifts come from our deepest wounding.”
Each of us is born with a sacred wound that is an initiation to call the soul back home, to awaken us to our destiny and our highest potential. Notes to the Beloved is an authentic, honest exploration of the sacred wound of true love against the backdrop of the collective wound of the pandemic. What does it take to embrace and surrender to the beloved for who they truly are instead of struggling to sculpt them to match our map of the world and love? Why is the death of ego such a formidable challenge when it comes to matters of the heart? Are we aware of the truth that one can be only as intimate with one’s beloved as one is with their self? How does one move from separation to mystical union with oneself and the beloved? How do we mend our broken hearts to be our savior and protector? The book explores these questions & many more through the lens of the author’s odyssey & expands into a voyage of truth and awakening leading to her catharsis. Written as a cluster of musings, the author deconstructs the power dynamics of an erotic relationship, thru a raw, unfiltered narrative. This genre-fluid book offers a slice of life where the frailty of emotions comes into sharp focus. It’s a fierce attempt at self-restoration & self-preservation as one meanders thru a maze of pain, passion & confusion. Penned as poetic prose, this brave, unapologetic book affirms to be a magic flying carpet for those who recognize intimacy as a sacred journey.
✨Life is a series of letting go and holding on, as someone said. And that's the trickiest part- which bridges to cross and which ones to walk.✨
Notes to the Beloved by Meenu Mehrotra is a collection of thoughts/musings that are lessons in self love, attachment and intimacy. The book contains vast emotions such as love, longing, pain, heartbreak, forgiveness, fear, etc that shows how relationships are through a camera in times of covid, mushy feelings of first love and so much more. As the book starts, we come to know that the speaker is going through a rough time as their beloved have physically and emotionally distanced themselves. We are taken on journey of going through dark emotions to lighter ones... from being depressed to being free . The musings were unpredictable and full of yearning but also, deep and thought provoking. The writing was intimate as it felt like we were reading speaker's innermost thoughts to a beloved. The book teaches us to love ourself & to move on from the hurt. With quotes from Rumi, Pablo Neruda, etc that just sits right with the book, it was a good experience reading it.

While going through the book I discover each word impacts me and it was without a doubt a thoughtful encounter. The writer has composed the book with extraordinary instinct and perceptiveness. Her every single word says a lot about her work and she has steadily made the whole book with her spirit articulation.
At times we have held onto and secured a genuine rottenness inside that should have been uncovered so we could change. Different occasions, what we felt was rottenness flipped off - under the light of admission - to be just a human shortcoming needing circulating. Regardless, we developed further as we moved nearer to the real world and surrendered the demonstration of goodness by conceding and tolerating our errors.
In this season of disaster, emergency and disturbance, she has taken unimaginable enough undertaking to pen down her encounters with mending words for the general public as an opening. Now and then we have held onto and secured a genuine rottenness inside that should have been uncovered so we could change. Different occasions, what we felt was rottenness killed - under the light of admission - to be just a human flaw needing broadcasting. Regardless, we developed further as we moved nearer to the real world and surrendered the demonstration of ideals by conceding our missteps.
We might have fears about pushing forward. We can be fearless, be that as it may. Strength is within reach, consistently, in the event that we however request it. We can make a little starting today. Furthermore, consistently, we can do no less than one thing we need to do to carry us nearer to our objective. Achievement, anyway little, sustains positive sentiments.
So , this book is a without a doubt articulation of Meenu Mehrotra's spirit. What's more, I should close the audit with One of Khalil Gibran adages , "A lot of your aggravation is self-picked. It is the unpleasant mixture by which the doctor inside you mends your wiped out self."
Notes to the Beloved - well, I am stunned, it flows like a poem and talks like prose. It is a novel that speaks about the protagonist's heart, the heart wants what it wants or else it does not care. Then I realise it is a reflection of every heart that has seen love pendulate between profound wisdom of a soul's desires and utter naivety of human longings. In Covid times she expresses “the quarantine has claimed its first victim my heart” the heart is speaking and seeking for answers isn’t that what happened with all of us.
The layers of hope and despair living together in a string of words, the anachronism of surrender and dignity tumbling out of the paras - the book takes you through a roller coaster ride and challenges you to look at the world outside while talking inside with yourself.Interestingly the book deals with Yin & Yang of love and spirituality, we all have two parts and as she has expressed in her book the virus outside has put us in a reboot mood and a lot of bugs have surfaced while we are in this self-quarantine mode she emphasis on how important it is at times like this the quality of conversation with oneself when we see parts of ourselves that we have never seen before there are two ways either you escape or you confront choice is yours . Like all books written during the two world wars, this book brings home the emotional stress being played by the Covid pandemic on relationships; the pandemic being the invisible yet potent player in the story.
So my dear readers give this book some time and learnt the lesson of self-love, intimacy and detachment, notice how your past emotions get distilled and how you embrace more love and be happy. It's a wonderful book. And it doesn't intellectualise a human scenario out of reach of the readers; it is grounded yet aspirational. Read it to find yourself.
Notes to the Beloved by Meenu Mehrotra is a novel that speaks about the protagonist's heart, the 🤍 wants what it wants or else it does not care. In Covid times she expresses “the quarantine has claimed its first victim my heart” the 🤍 is speaking and seeking for answers 😉 isn’t that what happened with all of us🧐 At various points in the book, you will resonate and might even question yourself about it, there will be moments that will surface, the chords you thought had disconnected with will ask for some nursing so all in all it’s a healing book and it will heal some parts of you even before you know it. What I loved about her writing the most is that it was a mix of prose and poetry it was like lymrics for me. I don’t know if the writer did it intentionally or it happened by chance but I do know that it had a soothing effect on my heart while I kept reading the words 😇 Interestingly the book deals with Yin & Yang of love and spirituality 😁❤️ we all have two parts and as she has expressed in her book the virus outside has put us in a reboot mood and a lot of bugs have surfaced while we are in this self-quarantine mode she emphasis on how important it is at times like this the quality of conversation with oneself 🤷♀️ when we see parts of ourselves that we have never seen before there are two ways either you escape or you confront choice is yours 🙋🏻♀️ Here through her book author wishes to put a pause button so that we gauge our inner self and I must say that author succeeded with me. What an amazing and relatable book it is. Written so picturesquely. If you've ever fallen for someone you'll find the book so apt. We all faced a situation where every individual has to leave in isolation, completely cut off from this materialistic world. This was the time when a wave of thoughts and ideas were tossing in our unconscious which sometime forms an idea and results to book like this i.e., ‘Notes to The Beloved’ by ‘Meenu Mehrotra’. Coming to the book, one can definitely find the metaphors that author has used, ‘When the Guitarist tunes his guitar and the music begins to birth and vibrate in that space. In the same fashion, I begin to stir slowly with your touch. Soon I move into a rhythm that matches yours perfectly.’ How beautifully she connected the strings of a guitar to the emotions of an individual when disturbed and unknown pleasure and music generates. She not only talks about the love but also those emotions which makes us confused very often, resist us to come to a conclusion, bound us in our own thoughts and don’t let us live free. Few lines from the book as how the author has described certain abstract: - ” The journey of love has its own timing. It is not bound by any timetable or human logic. It's not ruled by the laws made by man.”
While going through the book, one must definitely question on themselves as what is the purpose of their life? Why it is going so and how? What one is doing? A question to own’s action. The author has beautifully presented the thoughts and has written it very well up to the mark. I would suggest that one must definitely read it once and dive into the charism of the words and the simple language style in which it is written.
Notes To The Beloved – A Review While going through the book I find every word resonates with me and it was indeed a meditative experience. The author has written the book with great intuition and clairvoyance. Her each and every word speaks volumes about her effort and she has diligently crafted the entire book with her soul expression. In this time of catastrophe, meltdown and cataclysm, she has taken incredible enough endeavor to pen down her experiences with healing words for the society as a hole. Sometimes we have harbored and protected a real rottenness inside that needed to be exposed so we could change. Other times, what we felt was rottenness turned out - under the light of confession - to be only a human foible in need of airing. In either case, we grew stronger as we drew closer to reality and gave up the show of virtue by admitting our mistakes. We may have fears about moving ahead. We can be courageous, however. Strength is at hand, always, if we but ask for it. We can make a small beginning today. And every day, we can do at least one thing we need to do to bring us closer to our goal. Accomplishment, however small, nurtures good feelings. So , this book is an out and out expression of Meenu Mehrotra’s soul. And I must conclude the review with One of Khalil Gibran sayings , “Much of your pain is self-chosen. It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self.” Adv . Siddhartha Mishra, Supreme Court of India
“I have come to drag you out of yourself and take you in my heart. I have come to bring out the beauty you never knew you had and lift you like a prayer to the sky. “ -Rumi
This quote has been quoted by ‘Meenu Mehrotra’ in her work titled ‘Notes to the Beloved’. It has very deep and intellectual meaning hidden in it. The author has beautifully explained and has written accordingly. Here, ‘I’ denotes none other than oneself. We ourselves is our hope and messiah who will lead and lift ourselves to our best version. The book is basically written on self-love, intimacy and detachment. Author tries to convey to those audience those who felt left out and thinks they need someone who can heel them and make them feel better, rise to the peak of their life but here she mentions the need of self-love, possessions for oneself and how one can be intimate to own. She describes need of this ideology where no one can defy you and let you down respective of the conditions. She has presented it as a self-help book, which today’s need the most just because of the abstract that each individual suffers through and always needed someone to express. It a great read as it rejuvenates and hallucinates the emotions. She has written it in a great way, the words are impeccable and language style is appreciable. I would suggest readers to just go through the book once.
‘Notes To The Beloved’ by ‘Meenu Mehrotra’ is themed on self- love, intimacy and detachment. Starting from the very beginning of the book, one may find it a bit difficult to categorise it that whether it is in poetic form or in a prose form. Before going deep in the book, I would like to quote few lines of Rumi: -
“In the slaughterhouse of love, they kill only the best, none of the weak or deformed. Don’t run away from dying. Whoever’s not killed for love is dead meat.”
Well, now coming to the contents of the book, nothing is specified as a chapter wise or so. The title of the book itself suggests that it’s a note written to beloved. Well, if it is notes that it will deal with lots of abstract and subjective matter. The author of the book focuses on our inner self, conscious and the feelings that we feel but never express that what goes inside us. One line I would quote: - ‘This quarantine is carnage for my body and soul. The virus of your absence has seized me’. It beautifully deals with one self and the love that an individual must cherish, responsibility that one must fulfil. I must that the book has very deep, intimated and sensitive meaning which is appealing as well as engrossing to the readers. I would like to recommend the book to those who wants to understand the gravity of such a beautiful and phenomenal abstract.
A compilation of musings written to the beloved as the title says. Cover is mild and soothing. The author has added quotes from various famous writers which adds more beauty and effect to the notes. But I felt that the font style could have been used differently. I loved the way how the author started with the readers note. It felt good. The notes are totally relatable to every person in love. She has pointed out many questions that each one of us have either asked ourselves alot or ought to ask to realise ourselves. Feelings and emotions are very well expressed through her words. Still I felt there could have been more clarity. I was confused if these are notes of a broken heart or a heart that misses its love during quarantine. Another exceptional quality to be mentioned is the author's way of relating the covid outbreak and the long distance relationship. Every reader will thoroughly feel the ache, desires, loneliness and the empowering love inked in her words. I loved many lines from the notes. Infact, there are quite a lot that I can't highlight them. Writing style and narration is reader friendly and touching. Though it is a short read you would have to read it in 2 or 3 sittings to take in the depth of feelings the author has portrayed. Overall, it's a beautiful read.
Notes to the Beloved is one of the most beautiful literary works I have read in recent times. There is something so uniquely beautiful about this book that I can't describe in words, the writing style is poetic and it's beauty has left me spellbound.
This book reads like parts of letter someone might write to a person they love, or excerpts from someone's journals who is in love and pouring their heart out and although it feels very intimate and personal to the writer, yet all the emotions that are seeping through the words are universal making this book extremely relatable.
We see a person who is so full of emotions and love that it almost hurts but can too much love ever hurt, no because there can never be too much love, it hurts because something is lacking on the other side which gets clearer as you keep turning pages.
This is a beautiful book and I loved reading it, it is in a way insightful too and you can learn a few lessons from it (if you get past your overwhelming admiration for the writing style).
Notes To The Beloved : Lessons in self love, intimacy & detachment by Meenu Mehrotra is a testimony to the current time-line, the string of events happening in the world and its impact on us puny human beings-physically as well mentally. Having said that, the book is an experience and I, for one, am unable to articulate it in words. I cannot put a finger on the things this book is about except for the title that pretty much tells us what it is.
So, I am going to attempt a summary of my feelings for this book. For starters, the presentation is soothing and lifts your mood up instantly when you see those beautiful fonts as the feel of the book is pretty positive. Secondly, the spilling of emotions in the subsequent ages is heart-touching as well as wrenching at the same time. The 'notes' in the chapters flow like a verse and are often interjected with quotes-on-love by eminent writers and poets. This entire feeling enhances the experience of the book and you become invested and also emotional. Hence, I would like to urge everyone to experience this book for themselves and feel the emotions. Happy reading!
‘Notes to Beloved’ is a unique tale. It highlights the different points of the journey at one’s self-exploration. Sometimes some books act as a healer. Sometimes some wounds leave such deep scars that only words can heal. And in these unpredictable times, the author made an effort to spread true love against the collective backdrop of wounds of the pandemic. The book is composed of a different array of thoughts and musings that shared lessons on love, self-love, forgiveness, and intimacy. The writing style is quite exotic in its creation. The writing composition is simple yet; it touches a deep notch of every reader’s heart. If you like to take a dip into your endless thread of thoughts with our beloved author’s notes, you are bound to perceive an exquisite range of feelings. As you turn the pages, the book further depicts; that how the speaker has lost emotional and physical connections with her loved ones. Some books become special to you when they leave an ever-lasting impact on your life. And this book definitely marked a line of differences in mine. I would like to thank the author for writing this beautiful composition.

❤💗🤎💚Notes To The Beloved💚🤎💗❤ Lessons in self love, intimacy & detachment. Written by MEENU MEHROTRA🤍🖤🤍 This book is about awakening, it is a journey into the world of cognition. The turbulence of the broken yet joyous heart, the journey of love has it's own timing. It is not ruled by the laws made by man. It's not ruled by the Laws made made by man. It's a fluid, surreal state. It follows it's own cycles and rhythms. It's a mystical odyssey that will open your soul to reach and get intimate with the divine. Very interesting lines. Very nice questions from the author and detailed answers are also arranged. I liked it. Let us live in harmony with the world and.live one another and inspires others to do the same.and keep loved ones together. What comforts our broken hearts when the Savoir dies and goes alone into the mysterious world. Thus the author is trying to prove the path of spirituality and love. Well written and good cover photo. Simple language for ease way to read. Nice idea, let the lines in his book change the behaviour of the current new generation. Thanks to author.💐💐💐
Meenu Mehrotra's Notes to the Beloved is a compilation of observations and reflections about consciousness, connection, and intimacy. The book depicts how partnerships are via a camera in times of covid, gooey sensations of the first love, and so many more. It covers huge complex emotions, desire, grief, grief, tolerance, anxiety, and etc. We learn early on in the novel that the narrator is struggling with depression since their sweetheart has physically and psychologically separated themself from them. From becoming unhappy to becoming liberated, we are led on a trip from dark sensations to happier ones. The meditations were erratic and overflowing of longing, but they were also profound and assumed. The speech was personal, it's like we're listening the speaker's deepest feelings to a close friend. The book teaches us to respect ourselves and to forgive ourselves for our mistakes. It was a pleasant work of literature, with lines from Rumi, Pablo Neruda, and others that fit perfectly with the narrative.
"You seem stronger. You don't feel that pain because you seem to have numbed your feelings, allowed your mind to dominate your emotions. Maybe I experience emotions intensely. But that's who I am. I don't regret that part of me, even a bit... "
For a long time i was reading novels only, so i just picked this book to read as the title of the book made me fall in love. And after reading the book, I must say it was a mood changer. Overall, a good one!
"Notes to Beloved" a very poetic whirlwind romantic fiction written by "Meenu Mehrotra" is a good true feeling book , especially for loved ones who seperated in this covid crisis with their beloved.
The layers of hope and despair living together in a string of words, the anachronism of surrender and dignity tumbling out of the paras - the book takes you through a roller coaster ride and challenges you to look at the world outside while talking inside with yourself.
It also challenges you to wind yourself in "faith and profound faith strung by the gossamer thread of fear and doubt".
Ah, and like all books written during the two world wars, this book brings home the emotional stress being played by the Covid pandemic on relationships; the pandemic being the invisible yet potent player in the story.
It's a wonderful book and is 'unputdownable', for want of a better word. And it doesn't intellectualise a human scenario out of reach of the readers; it is grounded yet aspirational. Read it to find yourself.

Book:- Notes to the beloved Author:- Meenu Mehrotra Rating:- 5/5
To be frank, this book is a beautiful collection of poetries in the prosaic format. It's much of teenage letters, and also much of romantic poetries. The context within is so versatile that I am compelled to rate it 5 upon 5.
Readers here will find the book to be a replica of one's own life experiences, be it love or relationship. Human soul is full of utmost desires, and love is inevitable within the list of these desires. The author had portrayed the same in a glorious manner.
Quoting few lines which really touched my heart.

The feeling of love is a beautiful experience but what is beautiful about it if you have to keep your emotional, mental and physical well being at stake in an attempt to be loved. This book makes you realise that when the choaos creates comfort and pain stops hurting your head, when you learn and accept the whole world, you know you possess yourself. The soul expression of author makes you look within and search for peace, and helps you realize that self love is the most important thing. The book is a healer for charred souls, reading it is like meditation where you are plunging inwards to find answers, and in the process are becoming a more wholesome being.❤️

Don't go by the title. It is not as simple as that and I totally understood that right after I started reading it. This is one emotional ride. The way the protagonist expresses her love, her helplessness, her pain were heart wrenching to read. After a Rollercoaster ride, finally the author gives a peaceful ending filled with a lot of hope, self love and acceptance.
I am really in awe with the writing style of the author. That was the highlight for me in this book.
"Love is a travel. All travelers whether they want or not are changed. No one can travel into love and remain unchanged"
"The only thing we never get enough of is love, and the only thing we never give enough of is love"
"Your wide eyes are the only light I know from extinguished constellations"
The quotes chosen for every chapter really complemented the content. I feel most of them would find themselves in this book at some or the other point.
