I love this series, it is so captivating, entangling, gut twisting, the story line is so very well put together. This Author is a literary genius! I can’t stop reading, I’m on book twelve and though this series has began to consume my life and my every waking moment, I can’t stop reading, it is that good. I must follow this band of heroes and see where the journey takes them, I must, I must , I must!
“We all need to be given the opportunity to grow and learn.”
I was very impatient to read Divided #11, after having binge read books 9-10, then Michael tells us it would be released much sooner than the official date, which was May 2022! I was so happy and excited with the good news! And..here it is, just as I knew it would make me feel, and more! More intriguing events, twists where I least suspected, turns where I least expected, overthrowing me in a complete conflictive account and situation! I had my hand on head, with a huge OH! all the while I was reading. I even had to stop reading to assimilate everything, every new revelation, every heart in throat scene. What an ending! It literally threw me up! I had an inkling that all didn’t seem well, but, that I was not EXPECTING! Yes, another fabulous instalment! When did Michael Robertson say book-12 is coming out? December?😁 Another 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ premise!
So our team of friends had gone over the wall but Artan and Nick fell and Nick was wounded rather badly. A woman found them and took them in her trolley car, she knocked them unconscious and took them down a manhole cover to the sewers where she lived. She locked them up in separate rooms and though she tended to them, she did this in her own crazy way, talking to herself and wanting revenge on the man who she blamed for all their troubles. On the other hand Matilda, Gracie, Hawk, William and Olga set out in search of them but when they encountered a labyrinth with white lines on the floor and many intersections they decided to split up to discover which road to follow but they were separated. Throughout this book William and Olga find themselves facing their own crazy troubles whilst Gracie, Matilda and Hawk do so as well. Constantly thinking of one another yet knowing that if they were to survive they had to take it one day and one step at a time. The woman, Joni though seeming quite crazy knew all about what was going on and though Artan wanted to kill her if her ever broke out of the room she locked him up in, she had tried to help in her own way. Foreigners were kept in the place they found themselves in and these were treated despicably by the guards and the man who appeared as just a head above in the sky to give his messages and taunt everyone. The man Joni hated with a vengeance, was the one orchestrating the horror they all found themselves in. This survival post-apocalyptic series just keeps on getting crazier and more weird with each book we read and this book 11 is scary as hell, full of futuristic robotic dogs and a rat run, heavily armoured tanks and guards all encompassed within massively high stainless steel walls which could not be scaled, providing edge of the seat, nail biting reading throughout! Is there a future that is safe for our team of friends anywhere out there and will they ever get out?
An unidentified woman with a vehicle has put the injured Artan and Nick on a trailer and whisked them away to a building on the far side of a large city. The rest of the refugee group, William, Olga, Matilda, Gracie and Hawk, were left on their own, facing a serpentine maze of plain concrete and steel structures without markings or street signs, and an array of life-threatening hazards. The Wall towered over everything, with gun emplacements at regular intervals; there were thick white lines painted on certain streets and buildings, without any explanation. The lines had lights that sometimes lit up when they passed, but they were unable to determine why. The people they happened upon did not speak English and were immediately ready to gang up on the travelers, so our friends had to keep running for their lives. Then there were mechanical tracking “dogs”, equipped with flame-throwers, and drones with machine guns that showed up without warning. The group split up to try to find a safer way, which only caused more problems. Would they be able to get reunited, or will their differences cause problems leading to more of them losing their life?
Mr. Robertson continues to explore the emotional torments of the constant dangers and the unending roadblocks experienced by his strong characters. The story revolves around how the friends have to work hard to pull each other through conflict after conflict, just to stay alive. Each book in this series keeps the suspense building – what could possibly come next? These stories are easy reads, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the series so far, looking forward to completing the journey. I received an ARC – this review is my honest opinion. I bought a copy to support this outstanding author, and I’ve pre-ordered the next book.
Joni is great, Joni is good, Let us thank her for our food, Amen
I really enjoy following this noble crew around this unpredictable, violent, diseased infected land. And, assuming we can believe crazy Joni, we finally learn what happened to the world and the origin of the vile diseased. I must admit though, this was my least favorite book in the series. Hey, it was bound to happen with 11 books - one will be your favorite and one will be your least favorite. I think my issue started at the end of book 10 when the author began attempting to describe the climbing of the big steel wall. With both the climbing of the wall and the wanderings around near the wall in this book, book 11, I began to become confused about what the author was attempting to explain. Since so much of this book entailed our heroes wandering around in the maze-like area adjacent to the wall my confusion became a real problem. It was like the author understood in his mind what he was trying to describe but the description wasn't getting through to the reader. Maybe this was just my issue and won't bother anyone else. A good map of the area, included in the book, would have gone a long way to address this problem. But, for some reason, you rarely see maps or illustrations in electronic books. Overall, I warmed to the book toward the end and was very glad I stuck it out to see what happened with Joni. Hopefully the next book in the series, book 12, will take place in a more open, less confusing area.
This latest episode in the Beyond These Walls series follows everyone as they get separated in the walled city. Each groups experiences are markedly different, not to mention filled with action and some eye-opening revelations. Right from the outset new character, Joni, who is from the walled city and rescued Artan and Nick. To say Joni is a bit eccentric would be an understatement, however she happens to provide a significant revelation in the overall story arc. With this revelation it is going to be even more interesting to see how this story progresses in the following episodes. I received an Advance Reader Copy and chose to provide my review.
Title: Divided Author: Michael Robertson Publisher: Michael Robertson ISBN: B0965PSKB8 Buy Link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09... Reviewer: Teresa Fallen Angel Blurb: Beyond these Walls 11 They risked everything crossing the wall in search of a better life. Given a choice now, every one of them would go back.
But they don’t have a choice. They’re a group divided. They crossed as a team, if they decide to go home again, it will be as a team.
The only chance they have of reuniting their group is to venture deeper into this hostile new world.
A world that might be the undoing of them all.
But it's also a world that could provide answers to questions they’ve asked their entire lives.
What’s south of the wall?
Why has the diseased population never died out?
What started the plague in the first place?
To earn the right to ask their questions, first they must learn the rules for this new environment.
Fail and they’ll die.
Divided is the eleventh book in the thrilling post-apocalyptic Beyond These Walls saga. Total Score: 5/5
Reviewer: Teresa Fallen Angel
Summary: The danger escalates as the guys manage to escape over the huge wall that divides their land. Now they were hoping things would work out, but instead they are out of the frying pan into the fire. Through no fault of their own Artan and Nick end up falling from the wall and disappearing. Now the rest divide into two teams in hopes of finding their missing duo with a plan to meet up later.
Things in the new realm make no sense forcing the guys to try and save themselves as the danger reaches an unimaginable level.
At the same time, Artan and Nick are found and taken by a woman who appears to be not right in the head. Her motives are to protect them, but who she is and what her true motives are remain to be seen.
This is an incredible ride from start to finish and the ride isn’t over yet. I will be waiting impatiently to find out what happens next.
This is a continuation of Behind These Walls series. Our group has climbed the wall only to be divided into smaller groups. This book is the adventures of each group within the walls. I would say that there is a lot of action, heart pounding moments, and craziness in this book. I love the world building, you never know what to expect. The characters are the same ones from the previous books that we all love with the addition of crazy Joni. I thought it was a great story and can't wait to read the next installment. I would recommend this book.
Absolutely brilliant story the new character Joni is a great addition. Having made it over the wall William and his friends are chasing Joni who has taken Artan and Nick. What follows is an exciting journey through the steel city having to avoid mechanical dogs airborne drones plus the inhabitants and guard's. With several story lines there are cliffhangers at the end of each chapter. There is also a intriguing revelation at the end. Full on page turner the best installment so far in this great series definitely recommend
'I’m going to choose to remain hopeful. If these are my last moments, I’d rather fill them with optimism.'
South of the wall isn't what they dreamed of. More battles, more horror and more challenges face our favourite team of post apocalyptic heroes.
The group is divided into three, each face they're own problems with only the goal to find each other again.
We finally have some answers too! A sweet little nugget of how the current world structure works, which looks to me like a set up for a lot more BTW's 😁
I have to be honest here: I firmly believed that this series had settled itself into routine of being a three-star series, and I was okay with that. The books are short, fast paced and enjoyable to read... this instalment quickly changed my opinion. The introduction of Joni’s character made all the difference to this book, and in the best way. She added an interesting new element to the story, and her perspective made for much more interesting narrative. The development to her character from the start of the novel to the end is fantastic, and I hope she’s here to stay!
I've loved all these books and can't wait for he next one. They're exciting and once you start you can't put it down. The only issue I have is that the book is not long enough .. I really hope the final book is more than a few hundred pages
This series had captivated me from the start, and this latest instalment definitely doesn't let you down. Brilliant character development throughout and pretty much non stop action.
Entire series great, it's essential for all zombie fans!
Entire series is gripping, you have to find out what happens to all your favourite characters and this book alone has you absolutely flying by the seat of your pants to see what happens next!!!
The best book in the series so far, the bitching and whining and sulking from the main cast seems to have been toned down a bit (thank fuck) and a new fantastically screwed up character has entered the room, still hoping most of the old cast will die soon though.
Fantastic read. Finally many questions answered in this instalment. Maybe linking to the author’s other works “Eden” & The Alpha Plague series. Diving straight into book 12
Another great instalment of this series, where battles are fought and not always won.
I thought Joni was an intriguing character; sad, brave and damaged, but a brilliant part of the story. Each of the main characters has a distinct personality and are well-developed, and each played an important role in the story.
There was a huge amount of violence and cruelty, some scenes reminded me of the Nazi regime - shudder.
As I read Divided, it was like a group hug from friends I hadn’t heard from in months! I fell right into the Beyond These Walls universe and enjoyed every minute of action, danger and drama. I can hardly wait to read the next book in this series.
