Werewolves are hunting me down.

I was just an ordinary girl waiting tables in a small-town bar. I had no idea magic was real. That was, until I backed my car over a werewolf a couple times.

In my defense, the wolf was trying to murder me, and I was all out of mace.

Now I’ve got a cult of rogue wolves on my heels, and the only one who can protect me is Jaxson Laurent—the Chicago Alpha.

He suspects I’m special and can’t take his eyes off me, but the problem is—he’s the sworn enemy of my family. Every time we get close it feels like something is going to rip out of my soul, but the heat between us is irresistible.

With danger around every corner and wolves howling in the night, I need to master my magic and stand my ground, or I’ll be dead before the next moon rises.

An action-packed urban fantasy, Wolf Marked features a kick-ass heroine, a dangerous alpha hero, and a steamy slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers romance.

Prepare to be drawn into a mysterious and magical world, full of demons, shifters, and sorcerers.

This story is set in the wider Dragon’s Gift universe created by Linsey Hall, and if you enjoyed the archaeology, history, and daring in her books, this adventure is for you!

I'm bailing out of this too early (12%)... Probably too early, which may mean it's just not fitting my mood right now. So I made a new shelf: maybe try again.

But I will share why I'm bailing. I'm pretty much over a FMC that bends over backwards to help people who treat her like shit. So this book opens with some kind of prophecy about finding this chick or the MMC is going to lose his pack. And that other people are looking for her, and if he doesn't find her, she's going to die.

Okay. We immediately find out a woman who looks crazy much like her has been abducted. And then she's attacked by two werewolves - when she doesn't even know werewolves exist. She somehow manages to kill one (driving over it with her car), as they are trying to kidnap and/or kill her (and she sees them kill someone else who tries to intercede).

The "good guy" and his second show up. They immediately call her a wolf killer, and the second thinks they should abduct her to pack territory to prosecute her for killing a wolf.

A wolf that murdered someone right in front of her, and attacked her.

The MMC decides not to do that, but rather, use her as bait to catch the other bad wolves. And, like, use his alpha wolf powers to make her obey.

Fuck all these people.

I don't want her to save their pack. I want them all to die. These fucks apparently think she should have laid down and died for the wolf who attacked her, rather than defend herself, and they can literally all die in a fire. Literally. And I would cheer.

I am going to admit that I'm tired of douchebag MMC and FMC that are used by them at the risk of their lives. It's probably why I'm bailing so soon. But some other day, I may be more tolerant of this shit and try again. Maybe.

This popped up an a kindle suggestion and I am thrilled I tried it!

World build:
Very cool and interesting world with werewolves, sorcerers, and demons leading book 1. Great depth laid out for the world build that was easy to follow and intriguing.

Storyline:
I am a fan of the FMC coming into unknown power which is what you find here. Beautifully written with some spectacular twists and shockers. LOVED how there is clearly more surprises in store for book 2 which makes me totally ticked that it is not released yet.

FMC:
Savannah is street savvy to begin with. Once she begins to understand her powers she becomes a force to be reckoned with. But wait there is more....she has a power starting to emerge that is super exciting and I can not wait to see how, what, when and why she has this! Great FMC!!

MC:
Jaxson big bad ass! Written with loads of super sexy alpha quality! I wish there had been more of a physical connection *eye waggle* in this book but the chemistry is off the charts. There is a lot I believe to be uncovered in book 2!

This was such a great surprise for me! I am so excited to see where this goes!

Happy reading,
DD💕

Hope the story turns around magic is great - werewolves are evil

I thought the heroine was great and loved her magic family- the Lassales.

The story was interesting too, but I absolutely hated the entire werewolf pack.

Jaxxon and the entire pack can die…such a bunch of Hippocrates- they want to put her on trial and execute her for defending herself from a pack of murdering werewolf exiles.

So it’s ok to go on a killing spree if you are werewolf and we will kill anyone who crosses us.

This werewolf pack is tyrannical.

I have read hundreds of werewolf books and this pack bothers me a lot as they think they are good, but really they are evil and prejudiced.

It bothers me that Jaxon is supposed to be the hero, but they don’t care about anyone but themselves and use the heroine as bait and want her to die for self defense even blaming her for billy and everyone.

I don’t know if I can continue this series unless we drop the entire werewolf pack. The werewolves should be stripped of their authority as they should be protectors and not monsters.

I would carry around wolfbane too if the werewolf pack acted like this.

They need to change drastically.

Her magic family and the heroine are fun and cool for what little I see of them.

“You must betray us all to save us all. The end is inevitable. Darkness will fall.”

I was super annoyed by the "wolf killer" comments about the girl and "once pack, always pack" statements about a guy that was EXILED from the pack, abducting/killing people, and causing problems for the pack by association. The alpha wasn't going to tell the family about his death because his behavior was embarrassing to his family, but the girl needed to be punished for defending herself against a psycho because there needed to be justice for his family? If he is still considered part of the pack then the alpha wasn't doing his job keeping him in line. I did not respect him and didn't want to read about this idiocy.

Started off pretty good and the pacing was fast enough, But almost halfway in and nothing is happening. It's just constant back and forth between everyone, especially the heroine and her own thoughts and between her and the hero.. She was very wishy washy and everything was over exaggerated. Hero was pretty annoying too. I liked him at first, but his banter with the heroine was bleh. All he did was manipulate and gaslight. The romance and chemistry was also pretty much non-existent too. Looking at the next books, the reviews don't look so good either, so I'm out.

Reading this book made me very happy. I was transported back in time to when teenage Chiara was wholly consumed by TV shows such as The Originals or Castle. But let me tell you a little bit about this wonderful book.

WOLF MARKED follows Savannah, a small-town waitress whose life gets completely overturned when two rogue werewolves attempt to kill her. Barely able to escape with her life, Savannah’s only hope of protection seems to be Jaxson Laurent, the handsome and broody alpha of the Chicago pack. However, things take a complicated turn when Savannah discovers that she has family in Magic Side—the secret supernatural city within Chicago. She’s related to the LaSalle, a family of sorcerers who are sworn enemies of Jaxson’s pack. Savannah must now learn to control her newfound magic as she deals with the rogue wolves on her heels and the animosity of the local wolves who want her head for having murdered one of their own. And to further complicate matters, there is the hot tension between her and Jaxson that neither of them want but are helpless to stop. Want to know how it ends? Well, you’ll have to read the book!

Wolf Marked unites elements of the paranormal with elements of mystery. While the story focuses primarily on the werewolves and sorcerers, the world-building is far richer than that with the presence of witches and demons as well. I loved all the lore and felt completely in my element with the intricate relationships between factions. I really hope we get to see more of this world explored in the future books!

The story is definitely character driven. Savannah and Jaxson’s relationship has many elements that I enjoy. She’s feisty and he’s broody, which made for excellent banter, further enriched by the family feuds and enemies-to-lovers dynamic. Their interactions were fun and hot at the same time. Though the sexual attraction was strong from the beginning, I appreciated that the authors took the slow-burn road and made me angst for sexy scenes. The payoff was worth it, and I feel like it will be even more so in the next books!

I did have some minor “complaints”, but they all come down to personal tastes. I loved Savannah as a protagonist, but sometimes I also wanted to strangle her for how she threw herself into dangerous situations with little regard for the risks. I also wasn’t always a fan of the alpha language that Jaxson used when thinking about Savannah. I know it’s part of the animalistic allure, but alpha dominance is sometimes too much for me.

All in all, this book was amazing! It was a fun reading experience from start to finish, with sexy tension but also lots of plot twists and action. Perfect for fans of action-packed adult shifter fantasy with a good balance between romance and plot.

Thank you to the authors for gifting me a copy of the book to review. All opinions are my own!

The pack is an issue

Before I bought this book I read a review about how bad the pack was. I took it onboard and decided to plough on and well that reviewer was correct. Its an okay story which probably would have been great if we didnt have such an awful stupid pack in the story.

The rules make no sense. Killing someone in self defence is not an excuse, they would prefer if you died than fight back. Its weird. I am still trying to understand how someone makes up to a pack that doesnt agree with self defence?

Still not a bad book to read perhaps this pack will be redeemed in second book (unlikely)

Actual Rating: 4.5

Edit: I can't stop thinking about this book. 4 stars feels like too little so I rounded the rating up.

---

I have become obsessed.

Wolf Marked has all the elements that I enjoy in a book. Magic, supernatural elements, an intense love interest and an incredible protagonist. And let’s not forget mystery! I love mystery. I definitely do watch it more than I read it, but whenever I find it in a book I’m extremely happy, especially if the plot is engaging and the author keeps the wheels in my mind spinning with theories and doubts, as was the case for this book.

The story follows Savannah, small-town waitress who finds herself in a difficult situation when two strangers chase her down. Turns out, they’re werewolves and they want her dead. The only way Savannah can get to the bottom of this with her life intact is with the help of the hot Chicago alpha, Jaxson. Sparks fly and there’s an undeniable attraction, but Savannah discovers she’s related to the LaSalle, a family of sorcerers who happen to be mortal enemies of Jaxson’s pack, turning this book into one of the angstiest enemies-to-lovers thirst traps I’ve ever read.

As you can probably tell, the slow-burn romance was one of my favorite elements of this book. Surprised? If you know me, you’re not. I have always proclaimed my love for romance plots and subplots loudly. The chemistry between Savannah and Jaxson was undeniable, tangible, real—and I’m not just speaking of their sexual attraction. Their banter was on point, and added with the story’s mystery element, it reminded me of couples from some crime dramas that I used to love watching once upon a time, like Castle and Beckett from Castle or Booth and Brennan from Bones. What makes them even better is the enemies-to-lovers twist for which I am weak in the knees. I’m sure their story is going to get even better with the next books. I cannot wait! Should you read this book for the romance alone? Yes, but there’s more.

As I mentioned, there’s a mystery aspect to the story. People are disappearing, and someone wants Savannah dead. How is everything connected? Who can Savannah and Jaxson trust? The author—actually authors, which makes this book even more special, as I am also a co-author under the C.M. Karys penname—do a good job of planting clues and instilling doubt. I was invested in the story not just for the couple, but because I wanted to get to the bottom of this mystery. There was a plot-twist that I suspected, but overall the book surprised me a lot.

I recommend this to people who love reading paranormal romance books, with a dash of mystery and a couple with great chemistry. And werewolves! I know there’s a lot of you thirsty readers who want werewolves. Now I demand book 2. *throws imaginary glass like Thor*

Thank you to the author for sending me a copy. Opinions are my own.

I have had wolf shifters on the brain lately so, of course, I had to pick up this book. I mean, look at that gorgeous cover! Mesmerizing.

I rather liked this book but it did take a while to feel invested in the story. The first several chapters definitely caught my attention and, in fact, are the reason I picked up this book in the first place. I decided to have a look at Amazon's Sneek Peek feature with this book and I was intrigued to keep reading. This book has a great start and then tapers off a bit in terms of pace but it does finish strong. I definitely felt compelled to read the next book in this series. I was really satisfied with the overall storytelling aside from the pacing and some character development, which I'll explain below. This author duo has a pleasant and easy-to-read narration that really spoke to me. With excellent dialogue and fight scenes, it was easy to fall in love with the writing. The world-building was lovely. I really felt transported to this fictional part of Chicago engulfed in magic. I loved the little details that brought this magical world to life. I also adored the historical additions that were reimagined for this story. The book has a strong plot that really picks up towards the end of the book.

I enjoyed these characters for the most part. I really loved Savannah. She is the kind of take-no-crap heroine that I adore. I love how she wouldn't be cowed by Jaxson and didn't fully buy into his crap. She was savvy, determined, and courageous. I was on the fence about Jaxson's character. I honestly didn't feel very connected to his character and that kind of negatively impacted my reading experience. I just felt like there was some emotional component missing with his character that prevented me from fully taking root with him. He did grow on me though. By the end, I was starting to feel more for his character. I liked all of the side characters, though it was hard to tell some of Jaxson's wolf pack apart in the beginning. They sort of blended together too much for me. By the end, I have everyone sorted out in my mind though. The secondary characters that really stood out to me were Casey, Savannah's long-lost cousin, and Sam, the information-commandeering bartender from Jaxson's inner circle. And though she wasn't in the book as much, I also really took a liking to Zara. I hope that none of them turn out to be villains because that would crush me.

The romance in this book was very enemies-to-lovers and very slow-burn. Savannah and Jaxson's families are quite literally enemies. This adds a certain tension to their romance. It is almost a forbidden romance of sorts in that regard. I really loved the bickering and the banter between Savannah and Jaxson. They really knew how to push each other's buttons and push back when the other was trying to dominate the other. It made for really good sexual tension. The chemistry between Savannah and Jaxson is so obvious. The two of them do a good job of hiding this from almost everyone though. Well, Jaxson anyway. As Savannah learns in the book, werewolves have good noses and can smell all kinds of pesky emotions, if you get my drift. It took a while for any action to happen in the romance department, but it was well deserved. The tension build-up to that moment was pretty consuming. Their reservations get the better of them though so I am excited to see where their romance goes in the next book.

Overall, this was a mesmeric read full of mystery, magic, and mayhem! If you love tough and feisty heroines that don't know when to quit and bossy alpha heroes that will ravage enemies right along with your heart then pick this book up!

It means endless possibility, Savanna’s. For you. Whatever your life was before, it will never be the same. Whatever you had dreamed of doing, so much more is possible.

This was one of my first experiences with a shifter romance and I’m fairly certain I’m hooked. I am sooo here for this trope 🙌 I loved Wolf Marked! It was a quick and easy binge read. Things I loved about Wolf Marked: paranormal magic, enemies to lovers romance, a super intriguining mystery, and it was action packed from start to finish. I though the political dynamics in Magic Side were really interesting and I’m excited to learn more about that part of the world in future books. I’m also looking forward to some more romance in future books….👀 One thing I thought was super cool was the inclusion of a magical version of the Chicago World’s Fair! That was unique and so much fun.

Book two comes out October 31 and I am DYING for some resolution…I also have theories. And I’m curious to see if I’m correct or not.

Thank you so much to the author for sending me a copy for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wolf Marked had me captivated the moment I saw its gorgeous cover. One of my favorite bookish tropes is animal-shifters romance with an animalist behavior with dominance/submissive dynamics. The book follows a small town girl named Savannah, who gets her world turned upside down when she has a crazy run in with an alpha werewolf and gorgeous pack leader; Jaxson, in a scary moment of pursue against her life.

One of my favorite elements of the story was the relationship between Savannah and Jaxson, in the beginning it was hate at first sight with banter filled dialogues that had me biting my nails for more. They bicker and argue whilst trying to fight a strong attraction that neither of them can understand. From the very start I had a feeling that they were destined for each other, but because of their completely different worlds it seemed impossible to happen. Things become even more complicated when we discover that Savannah is much more than what she seems, and actually belongs to a rival family of sorcerers. Still they join forces against evil magical forces such as demons, rogue werewolves and other creatures who want to destroy them.

It’s a fast paced read with a mysterious plot, full of magical creatures and danger that surrounds Jaxson and Savannah, not to mention an additive and teasing slow-burn romance! The cliffhanger at the end left me eager for its sequel, which I cannot wait for!

Wolves, Witches, And romance? Ummm yes! I am such a sucker for a good slow burn/enemies to lovers read. The world building was beautiful, everything about it was easy to put together in my mind!

I enjoyed the characters, Savannah was one of those main characters that doesn’t let you down. Her wittiness and her determination to deal with what has been thrown at her was pretty impressive, especially when that something has do to with all things supernatural. I don’t know what I would do in her case!

The romance, can we talk about how sexy wolf guys are? And they’re traits, completely lure you in for sure. Jaxson was that guy you want to learn more about regardless of how mysteriously dangerous he may seem. The dynamic between Savy and Jaxson was awesome, the banter kept me going, that tension was hysterical. I laughed out loud several times while reading this book! Especially on the Jaxson chapters… the amount of patience he need with Savy was impressive Lol.

I was impressed with the side characters too! They left their stamp for sure. Learning about the different creatures and the gist of The LaSalle’s magic was pretty intriguing.

In my brain this was the perfect combo between The Vampire Diaries (but with wolves as the focus) and Teen Wolf in an adult version… I see some true Blood as well, maybe the bad ass eerie aesthetic.

Super excited to read more about the Magic Side Series! Thanks to the author for sending this my way!

Thank you so much to the author for sending me a copy! All thoughts are my own.

I’m a wolf girl, so throw a werewolf book in front of me and say “read it!” You know I’m going to be all about that!

Wolf Marked is a cross between True Bloods meet Romeo and Juliet. (Let’s pretend that True Bloods focused on the shifters more than the vamps.)

Savannah is a typically young woman, working as a waitress in order to make ends meet. However, one night as savannah is on her way home from work, she is suddenly jumped by people who turned out to be wolves. After accidentally killing one, she realizes that her life is in danger. Not only that, but there is a whole world of magic and whether savannah is ready or not, she must face this threat head on.

Unfortunately, the only ally she currently has is a man named Jaxon. Turns out, Jaxon is actually an alpha and her family’s number one enemy. Not only does she have to come to terms with her own magic, she also has to control her ever changing feelings about Jaxon and not die.

I really enjoy books that make an entire magical world, I think it’s so neat and creative. I immediately get suckered in at that point. The chemistry between Jaxon and Savannah was amazing! They always seemed two seconds away from doing it, so if you are into a slow burn romance, this is definitely that.

My only “complaint” was how obsessed Savannah was with her car and how she threw herself into dangerous situations because of it. I’m just not a car person so I was like, girl, just Uber. 😂

Other than that, the book was a fun and quick read! The writing was good and easy to binge.

DNF at fifty percent. I don't get how this book is getting so much attention. It's fast paced, yes, but nothing happens quickly. The story isn't going anywhere. And is this supposed to be a romance? Because I hate the love interest. It's a no for me .

Thank you so much to the author for sending me a copy to review! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I am complete trash for anything werewolf related. Throw in some magic? Turmoil? Alpha male? Yes please!

I was hooked right from the start of this. I absolutely loved the world snd the characters. The lore with Magic side and the different magical cities was so fun and interesting. I loved the background of the conflict and the twists and turns.

I loved Savy so! She was such a fun MC and totally enjoyed her character development. I NEED more Jaxson though.

One thing I can say that drives me nuts is I would totally be all for the alpha werewolf. I know we need to cause drama but gimme gimme and no fighting. Jaxson is amazing from the start. Their tension and banter is what I thrive off of in my romances.

I devoured this one pretty quickly and the twists and turns were fun and I didn’t guess them all. Cannot wait for the next book to see what happens!

I largely enjoyed this, but thought it was a little unfocused; depending on the back and forwards between Sav and Jax to carry the tension. But I just felt a little whip-lashed between their supposed attraction and overt dislike of one another. I didn't particularly feel their chemistry. But I liked them both. I liked how independent Sav was and how willing she was to go out on her own. And I liked that Jax was legitimately trying to protect his people and Sav, even if he wanted to strangle her too. I also thought Casey was hilarious and appreciated the abundance of strong female pack members, especially since jealousy over male attention wasn't included as a plot device.

The book is set in a world created and opened by another author, Linsey Hall apparently. I suppose that makes this a spin-off of a sort and you feel it. Certainly, the death of Jax's sister felt like it is the plot of another book somewhere. I don't know if it is, mind you, but it feels like it is. The book is perfectly readable though, just kind of has that spin-off feel.

I found the villain easy to guess and the mystery around Sav is fairly obvious, even if we're not technically told what it is here in this book. Plus, there's some annoying repetition in the writing, All in all though, I had fun and will happily read another book in the Magic Side: Wolf Bound series.

I have read this writer duo’s first series, and I loved it. I went into this series starter expecting the same type of series. Boy, was I wrong in a good way! This was a great, action-filled, well-written story about Jaxson, an alpha of a werewolf pack, and Savannah, a girl who doesn’t realize she comes from a magic family. Add in abductions, betrayals, blood, secrets, feuds, and sexual tension, you have a great read that is hard to put down. I am eager to read the next one to find out exactly why, at the end, when Savannah killed…well, you’ll have to read it yourself to find out. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

When this popped I was super excited a book with werewolves, magic, a whole new world of supernatural beings for me to fall hopelessly in love with what more could you ask for.

Once I started reading some of my excitement dimmed, the story itself is freaking fabulous with little bits of magic sprinkled throughout, a crazy ass long lost family, hilarious cousin for the humour and of course the banter between the main MC, Savy and the sexy as hell Alpha Jaxson.

Then comes the but, at times all I really wanted to do was smack Savy while shouting at her what the hell are you doing. Go learn about your dam Magic.

Instead I soldiered on and she semi redeemed herself and stayed true to her kickass self. Jaxson’s side was pretty standard, Alpha of the werewolves will do anything for his pack, doesn’t understand his feelings for Savy etc.

By the end I found myself wanting to reading the next book mostly just to find out the answers to all the unanswered questions instead of my usual I love this character and I cannot live without them.

Overall it was a good smooth read with a great plot and I will definitively be reading the next one.

This was actually so good!! Gave off some Kate Daniels vibes with the setting and characters and I was here for it. A little annoying in some places but what book isn't lol.

I borrowed via KU. I enjoyed this story. This book had a storyline that is completed by the end of the book and a continuation storyline.
